Any other singer in the world would sing this song to emphasize their power and high notes. Not Angelina, nope she takes you on a trip down to the basement to show you all the neat stuff down there and she just keeps going with a voice that feels like chocolate. It's ridiculous! She teaches us a lesson every time she sings and treats to those sweet tones while she's at it.

Someone made a comment that they imagined Angelina as shown in those Elvis documentary films and the madness of people and limousines and millions of people asking for autographs, I just want to imagine that she continues to live in the USA and consolidate as the queen of Jazz and Soul Can you just imagine how big the African American community is?

There are many versions of this classic religious song written over a century ago, but this one is very unique. My two favorite performances of this song (until I heard Angelina's) are by Carrie Underwood (belting at its best): ua-cam.com/video/dnvg0OtupuI/v-deo.html and Elvis: ua-cam.com/video/XlfcvUtUoOM/v-deo.html Angelina is singing in the same key that Elvis did. Not many females can pull that off. Even if they can get down there, breathe control and pitch are a real problem. She has minor problems maintaining several of the low notes. But she still gets down there and her tone is wonderful. Most who perform this song (including Carrie and Elvis) belt out the final lyrics. And I like those versions a lot. Angelina takes a different approach. She keeps it soft; feels like she reaches into your soul and gives it a gentle hug. Just melts my heart! After Angelina posted this song some time ago (she was 12/13), she removed it in just a few days; don't know why. Somehow Yozhik v Tumane found it and after enhancing the audio, paired it with this wonderful video (thank you Yozhik). This is now one of my favorite performances by Angelina. Belting ,belting,these days it seems that talent should start by belting and end by belting???it's a tool just tool .I could tell you immense artists who never belt in there life...This being said...carrie Underwood does the job ,the show...ok call that talent..but not to be remembered as something really special..no more than any other singer...but one may like I do understand....And in the other hand you have Angelina Jordan...and there you have sheer genius...And this will stay ..She does not need to make the shows..no need to use tricks of the trade...just let her soul flow in our heart...this is genius on an other level for sure..true wonder...
@@jean-claudeledanois1247 First let me say that I am one of Angelina's biggest fans. Like any other vocal tool, belting is a very good thing when used "appropriately". And Angelina certainly knows how and when to do that. And she has used it many times to a very positive effect. The problem, as I see it, is that expectations and judgments tend to be centered around how often and well a singer belts in a performance. On talent shows, judges want to see the contestants range and how high they can go without head voice. That leaves belting. So almost all contestants try to put that in their performance, whether it belongs there or not. And young singers see that, and they believe that is what they need to do. And you see where I'm going with this. Belting becomes the norm. And we could make a similar argument for riffs and runs. To me, Angelina is very unique when it comes to using these tools. She just doesn't follow the norm. For me, her runs and riffs and belting always seem appropriate. And I could list many of her covers where she doesn't belt at all. And some with little or no runs. Like the one we are reacting to here. I believe she follows her own rules, and is far more influenced by the great jazz singers of the past than anything that is happening in the mainstream. And in the future, Angelina will be the one setting the norm for many young singers who want to follow in her footsteps. Best wishes Jean-Claude, for a safe and Happy New Year.

What I love about Angelina is that she can easily venture out into other artists wheelhouses, I'm trying to think how many can venture into Angelina's array of genres and do such a quality job of singing...just saying. And then come back and say bye in a young teenagers voice. Angelina is Angelina and none other has been able to gather my attention and keep it like her, my favorite singer. Thank you sir, thumbs up of course. Whether kicking and screaming or willingly, Angelina just took us to church!

You wondered how low Angelina was going in this. The lowest note you heard was a C3 (one octave below middle C on a piano). The highest I have heard her sing was a G5 in Unchained Melody. That means she has about a 2-1/2 octave range. Astounding for a girl (or boy) of that age. I imagine today, through hard work with vocal coaches, she has expanded that even more.

I am a Christain, and we sing this song in church frequently, it has several more verses to it and yes, it is a beautiful song as song by Angelina.

Even as an atheist i think this is absolutely beautiful and have listened to it many many times! It's hard to get your head around what this girl can do with her vocals, if you try to understand it you'll just hurt your brain. Probably best to just give in to it, and enjoy. This is simply extraordinary. And while we don't have any context from Angelina on why she sang this song this way maybe it is in the spirit of her tributes (this one to God). She sings both very low and very quiet (each challenging but together insanely difficult) in order to pay a proper tribute to Him who gave her the gifts she has been given. Such a performance is only possible if one does the work to hone those vocal gifts and Angelina definitely has done that. Thus, this is the tribute she presents...

The range her voice has is so great. And she has so much control in her lower voice which is just beautiful. Her voice continues to go lower as she gets older and it is beautiful. She's 15 now. She is a very old soul and her singing shows that so clearly.

She channeled Elvis. A few vocal coaches estimate her voice reach up to FIVE octaves. I myself am no expert, but this could be true. The first waterfall is the highest in the world.

Not my fave song to listen to or anything but anything that i come across that Angelina sings i will always give it a listen , i personaly just love listening to her vocals , anyway the waves and vibrato that she projects from her voice at her "age and size" when singing at such a low range is to me just basically impossibble , how the hell can she vocally project a tone and fullness like that with her body size in that low range , wow , anyway i am not being criticle at all , its a complement , shes my fave singer and im her nmbr 1 fan . also just wondering , hey big guy , that wasnt u singing some parts of that song in the low range was it ? lol hahahha

Greate reaction! Angelina is amazing, but we have more barefoot princesses here in Norway. Do you remember Aurora who performed with Wardruna’s «Helvegen»? She is also amazing. Very different from Angelina, but just as talented just in a different way. I suggest you check out either «Runaway» or «Murder song» from Nobel Peace Prize Consert or «It happened quiet» (either live from the Current or her consert in the cathedral «Nidarosdomen». You will not regret it.
