Update: we are on the train! Definitely very hard to find parking, didn’t realise we had to book it in advance. Otherwise, staff very friendly and train seems very modern and nice. Good toilet access 👍

From my experience there isn’t such a thing as good customer service in France. Most seem difficult and moody, they don’t want to go out of their way to help at all.

What a knob! Even if he's missing a shred of empathy he's literally paid to help you! I don't think I'd have been able to handle it as well as you did. I'm so glad you got on that train, have a wonderful trip with your girlfriend 😊

That's fucked up. Why should we have to plan everything months in advance just because we have wheels? If abs can get on a train 2 minutes before it departs, I'm sorry but it doesn't take much to put a fuckin ramp out. That guy was, as you said, a first class knobhead. Really glad you dealt with it so well but we also need to call out bullshit and not HAVE to always be so superhumanly positive in the face of that bullshit- we deserve better.

The smallest smile, the smallest act of kindness can make ALL the difference to someone. I think that is what you are saying.

Congratulations on your relationship mate 👍😀 I'm a c5/6 quadriplegic and my wife and I travel a lot we are off to El Salvador for 3 months and Fiji for 3 nights on the way home... No such thing as wheelchair accessible in El Salvador but it's super fun 😊🤣🏝️🌅👍

As a manual wheelchair user, I have also experienced poor service in France. We have just returned home from a month's trip in Europe. I was very satisfied with the level of service in Italy. They have a completely different attitude towards people with disabilities. They do everything to be able to help. I feel many French people have a negative attitude towards disability.

I have lived here for 5 years and I have to say I have had both ends of the spectrum, some are overly eager to help you jump the queues, let you in for free, while others aren't so charming.
We are all human, everyone has bad days.
I'm sorry you felt like you had it bad in France

Hi Freddo! Happy you were able to book your trip. Don't let these situation be an obstacle bro. If you come across a cranky customer service agent ever again demand to speak to the supervisor, manager.. even go higher if you have to. Someone will help and that cranky agent will be set straight. OR go buy your own train and you can take all us wheelies on trips! :) Cheers!

Interestingly enough, the manager told me the same thing, yet here I am on the train with three empty places for other wheelchairs 🤪

Every train on that route fully booked with wheelchair users seems very unlikely! I think I would have hung up and dialled again and hope I get through to a different operator, and would have complained to them. Glad you got it sorted in the end, hope you have a good time! Friends were in Paris a few weeks ago and were very disappointed with their experience. She was an au=pair YEARS ago, and compared to then, so no surprise it had changed to a lesser enjoyable city.

It's not just wheelchair users who can be emotionally deflated by rude and unhelpful people. Unkind behavior can be hurtful or even devastating to anyone who is, or is feeling, vulnerable. Enjoy Paris! Sounds like a great trip.

In Germany you have to ring special assistance at least 24 hours in advance. Honestly its ridiculous than regional and ICE trains arent accessible to just get on off level with the platform

I moved here about 10 years ago to live in the mountains because I love snow sports and out door lifestyle. Plus I couldn’t bear living in the UK
