Was very confused why no places in Scotland or Wales was listed but your title is misleading, the original video is England and you’ve put UK in yours. The two aren’t the same thing Larry.
To make another comment. Stonehenge is only one of many megalithic monuments we have ( from the period 3500-1500 BC), and there are many others, often less touristy, and where they do allow to touch the stones. We are beginning to unravel why and how these monuments were built. Near Stonehenge they're discovered there was a vast circular monuments called now Durrington Walls. Remains have been found of huge feasts, with animal bones isotopically discovered to be as far as Scotland. There may have been these great regular gatherings, and the erection of Stonehenge may have been the result of large numbers of people meeting and working together for generations. There is still a mystery about some of the smaller stones ; they are called 'bluestones", and they come from well over a hundred miles away in Pembrokeshire. This must have been a colossal achievement. When I was younger the astronomical aspect was still considered to be "fringe"; it's now mainstream. Important alignments point out the positions of the Midsummer and Midwinter Solstices at Stonehemge, and its builders also seem to have had a knowledge of when eclipses occur.
I live just outside York, lived and worked there for several years. If you are up for a visit I'm happy to show you around....like a random internet stranger. 2hrs on the train from London to York. Then you can head up to Edinburgh in Scotland. Britain is tiny compared to the States but we dont have many straight roads so it probably takes as long to get places by car. Found you from the cop videos as I'm always interested in how the brits are perceived from over the pond.
You need to get some British foods and react to that!!! Stuff like Yorkshire tea made the proper way not in a microwave! Fish and chips, wagon wheels, custard creams, beans on toast, sausage rolls etc!!! Would be great to see what you think!
I’m from Scotland in the Uk.. The Lake District looks like my homeland ,or Wales. Or even Ireland is as beautiful and picturesque as The Lake District.. This is a very short list. You could actually double it with just as gorgeous holiday locations. And, regarding distances between places bc the Uk is small in comparison to the USA you could travel from London..(England) to Edinburgh..(Scotland) on an overnight coach..Or there’s also the option of rail travel which’s very popular for folks as it’s faster to get from city to city & theres no traffic congestion like there is on the roads.. Unlike the USA most folks don’t fly from city to city as most small cities like York for e.g don’t have airports.. But you can travel via the channel tunnel, I think it’s called (that maybe wrong lol) to get from London to Paris.. (the tube, btw is the famous London Underground railway..which you can travel all over London Underground, on that) or via the roads above ground.. IM REALLY ANNOYED THAT NONE OF SCOTLAND, LIKE OUR BEAUTIFUL CAPITAL CITY OF EDINBURGH WASNT ON THIS LIST..VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!! 👎🏼
The first time i saw Stonehenge was very early in the morning , driving past. VW were making a car advert so the lighting in the dark was crazy, i will never forget that. We were driving to Salcome in Devon for a wonderful holiday, 17 guys and 2 girls, how did my mum & dad say yes?
I live in England and the longest journey from the northeast part of Scotland to the furthest south ( top to bottom) 600 miles , would take 12 hours in a car and east to west would take you 249 miles (3hrs)
What about other countries across UK? This video covers some places within England only (side note: London is a rip but worth a visit nonetheless. As it's ridiculously expensive I'd recommend staying on the outskirts and travelling into London for the day). There are beautiful places worth visiting in Wales and Scotland. Let's not forget Ireland too...
London to edingburh scotland is about 4.5 to 5 hours on a train, , you can do london, to stone henge, and to bath to see the roman baths, with pub lunch included on a bus in a day and thats back to london
@@JustAverageLarry public transport is great really, you can get anywhere, if you like a drink, take your beer on the train, you can drink in public for the most part in the UK
Reaction suggestion - 'The Difference Between the UK, Great Britain and England' by CGP Grey. Because the differences are very important to know if you ever travel here.
If you ever come to York, I can give you a tour! This list is very south heavy (not that I disagree with any). The Peak District is also stunning and the Lake District is huge and much more than just the clips in the video. Also nearer York is Leeds, which used to be a massive Wool industry hub and one of the bigger cities. It has working Mills and beautiful parks. Whitby is a small coastal town with links to Bram Stokers Dracula. If you want Roman remains, then check out Hadrians Wall and the surrounding Roman ruins in Northumberland, which spans the width of the England near the current Scottish boarder.
And when you think of Scotland, don't just think of the Central Belt (Edinburgh/Glasgow) - there are many more places worth seeing, like Loch Ness and around the Highlands. Even Aberdeen, where I live, is worth a visit.
mate, in the UK no matter where you are, you are not more than 65 from a coast, from tip of scotland to lands end Google Earth reports a distance of 602.70 miles between the two iconic marker points. According to a 1964 road atlas, the shortest route using classified roads was 847 miles (1,363 km) but in a 2008 road atlas, the shortest route using classified roads was 838 miles (1,349 km).
Not a great video of the UK. (Btw...I am British). When the AI is talking about the Palace Pier they are actually showing you the West Pier, a victim of fires many years ago. For USA viewers, Brighton had 2 piers. The one that looks "active" is, that is the Palace Pier. No 8...the "Country" of Cumbria should actually say the "County" of Cumbria. If you are considering a UK visit do not particularly chose to base yourself in London. You need 2 weeks minimum just to do all the usual tourist stuff in London. There is so much more to our country than this suggests.
100% reccomend visiting wales too. The UK is more than just england. Wales is/was famous for slate and coal mines, north wales has some incredible scenery and for some reason in many places time stopped around 1900.
As other commenters have said, don't confuse the UK and England. You'll get into trouble! Our King Henry VIII ( reigned 1509-1547) broke with the Roman Catholic Church for refusing to grant his divorce with his first wife. Actually, there was a lot more to that. His father had with great difficulty brought peace after a civil war, by marrying the princess from the other side. Henry VIII absolutely had to have a son, to keep the peace continuing, and kings were nearly always granted annulments; in this case there were good technical grounds. ( His wife only had a daughter, and she was passed child-bearing; she had been his brother's widow, which was dodgy.) But a powerful foreign empire had the papacy under control, and stopped the annulment because they wanted to invade and marry the heir to that empire to the daughter. So Henry VIII broke with Rome. But he was frightened of the power of the monasteries. They were not as popular as they had been, because some had become corrupt. So he dissolved the monasteries (1536-1539). Some of their churches were taken over for use as parish churches; but many were left to fall into ruins. Our laws have a wonderful system of Rights of Way, in which you gave a right to walk down ancient paths. You also have a Right to Roam on much high moorland. Thus you can walk all over our beautiful land.
0:48 please note that there is no such thing as a 'British accent' - Britain is made up of four separate countries, each with its own distinct accent! 🙈🙏🏻
Hi AVerage Larry. I don't disagree with some of the places on this list, but there many more amazing places to visit in the UK besides these 10 so called best places. We might be a small country, but we have a massive amount of history and places to visit.
@@JustAverageLarry if you are interested in castles Warwick and Edinburgh are amazing still complete with tours around them, if you like nature walks and want to pop to wales for a day or two Eryri is beautiful as is the Northumberland Coast and the Peak district, if you want to try some good food Bristol has some of the best places to eat and is a beautiful city. if you wanted to go on a good night out Liverpool is always up there (although you will have to contend with the scouse accent) and Portsmouth. id say most of the cities on here are amazing places to go for architecture and culture with York and Oxford being my two favourite.
I live just north of Weymouth, so the Jurassic Coast is our bit. It really is beautiful but we do get snided out with holidaymakers in summer, making everyday activities a bit of a bind. I'd say the whole of Dorset is at least a month's worth of visiting, and that's just one county. You can easily find out journey times using Google maps. So, Cambridge to Weymouth is 4-5 hours (at the moment) by road or train, being just shy of 200 miles.
@@JustAverageLarry In two weeks, I'd say aim for no more than 4 locations, and that would still be a whistle-stop tour. Travelling is time-consuming and tiring.
Brighton had a massive fire on sea front so they keep somethings as a remember them times weird but true hastings down the road from there is home to birthplace of television and first back in its time fully built castle and major fishing fleet but also canterbury in kent now thats a city but lot usa towns cities are prob named after lot over uk too
2000 years of history in the first example. Brighton had 2 piers, the 'beat up' one was a theta, was about to be renovated with some public funding after a small fire. it may have provided competition to the other pier. suddenly after the funding was announced it was burnt down fully. it was suspicious but no one was caught. that was 2005. cambridge to coast is about 4-5 hours. Oxford uni 900 years at the oldest. Stonehenge, the sun lines up at the solstice twice a year. 5000+ years old. the stone comes from hundreds of miles away. Bath has roman parts and predates the invasion 2000 years ago. Tube is the underground. London also dates back more than 2000 years but is the biggest city in europe. Such a shame that only 10 are named, there's so many places, particularly in the North of England, in which York was the only place mentioned... Some other places are Whitby, Staithes, Bamburgh, Scarborough, The North Yorkshire Moors, The Yorkshire Wolds, Castle Howard, Haworth, Hull, Hawes, Barnard Castle, Helmsley .... So many places
I’m afraid this is not a great video. Yes some of these places are interesting (depending on what you’re looking for) but this is not a top 10 of the UK, it’s only looking at England…. What about Scotland, Ireland, Wales and the Islands❓I suggest you look at the Tourist Information for each of these regions to get a better idea. For example, if you want to see the earliest henge monument in the UK then go to the island of Orkney, Scotland. There’s a wealth of history in Orkney including Skara Brae, Europe’s most complete Neolithic village, older than Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids of Giza. In Ireland you could see Newgrange in the Boyne Valley, County Meath, Ireland. It’s a 5,200 year old passage tomb where each year on the Winter Solstice, a beam of sunlight travels up the stone-lined passage illuminating the inner chamber. With construction starting in 1067 Chepstow Castle, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Wales is the oldest surviving post-Roman stone fortification in the UK. Another thing you can do is go Nessie hunting 😁 on or around Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland. There is so much you can see and do in all these wonderful regions, I would advise thinking about how you really want to spend your time and research your options❣️ Good luck 🥰💙🌹
Definitely better places than some of these in this video as people have already said. Stonehenge is pretty cool. Ive been there a couple times on the summer solstice, we could sit in the rocks all night and wait for the sun rise back then with people playing music and dancing etc. It was pretty cool, and they are amazing to be in. I don't know if thats allowed any more though! Or if you can even touch them anymore. But it is pretty cool to see.
All these places are in England. Don't sleep on Snowdonia in North Wales, Newgrange in Ireland and Edinburgh in Scotland. The UK is more than just England.
what you need to do is drop a comment on what your looking for, im guessing london from your reaction. The reason i say that, each county area has its own unique quality, the cotswolds and other similar stuff, night life, newcastle liverpool york and others museums, all museums in london are free, but you may need to book do you want food and the pub culture do you want history I have livedd in oxford, poole, isle of whight, bournemouth, london, sunderland, durham every place has its own thing,
Oh I wouldn’t say I’m looking for anything specific.. I guess if I had to pinpoint something I’d say stuff that still has that old town feel. But really just anything interesting of note that’s not terribly expensive to see.
@@JustAverageLarry London, your going to do london, all museums are free, some will take you half day or day to get round, you have the sky garden highest public garden, full view of the city, free, you have all the markets campden lock, , use the hop on hop of bus, ticket lasts 24 hours, get you all round the sites, get off where you want to go, get back any time to go to next site, buckingham palace, over tower bridge, big ben houses of parliment, then you have all the parks, kensington palace, regents park, you have the libary all you spen so far about 30 quid

Well as an ex-pat Londoner living in the wilds of North East Scotland, I'd have to disagree. London is a wonderful place, but like many other places, has gone downhill in recent decades. When I was growing up there in the 60's, it was amazing, but I wouldn't want to live there now.
Theres also plenty beautiful places in scotland, northern Ireland and wales. Whoever made the video you watched should have named it " Places in england" 😂 much love 🌺
Anyone who lives in the UK will tell you London is not the top spot to visit. If you want to do all the cheesy stuff from postcards then yeah I guess so but it's like you said, it's like any big generic city. Jurassic coast looks pretty amazing, York is great I've been to the York minister and the town in general is very old and historical. I also laughed so loud when they were talking about stonehenge and you quietly say "how did they get there? I know they say giants..."
We have over 6000 years of recorded history in the UK. America as you say is relatively young but the more your archaeologists discover the more you will learn.

The reason i say that, each county area has its own unique quality, the cotswolds and other similar stuff,
night life, newcastle liverpool york and others
museums, all museums in london are free, but you may need to book
do you want food and the pub culture
do you want history
I have livedd in oxford, poole, isle of whight, bournemouth, london, sunderland, durham every place has its own thing,
Oh I wouldn’t say I’m looking for anything specific.. I guess if I had to pinpoint something I’d say stuff that still has that old town feel. But really just anything interesting of note that’s not terribly expensive to see.
@@JustAverageLarry London, your going to do london, all museums are free, some will take you half day or day to get round, you have the sky garden highest public garden, full view of the city, free, you have all the markets campden lock, , use the hop on hop of bus, ticket lasts 24 hours, get you all round the sites, get off where you want to go, get back any time to go to next site, buckingham palace, over tower bridge, big ben houses of parliment, then you have all the parks, kensington palace, regents park, you have the libary all you spen so far about 30 quid
have a look at ItsJps, thats his channel, he did scotland to London on a budget, all public transport, also Boring reviews, they did did the same, cople middle aged school teachers scotland to london, i think they used public transport, give you an idea pall
Stonehenge it was built by Aliens the individual stones were brought from over one to two hundred miles to where Stonehenge stands today.
I mean.. it has to have been right!?!
Oh amd rye in east sussex up the road from hastings is place that built most of the uk ports and sent first ship to the North Carolina think how u spell it lol bit true but London isn't all that but London is the city of all city's be on your guard if u not one of us and visit the theme parks like alton towers
Yes that's how you spell it, I'm actually from South Carolina myself.
Brighton 🤣💀💀💀💀
To posh Cambridge
I live 15 miles from Chester.
The Narration is totally out of Sync with the images on this. London No1? I wouldn't put it in the top 20!
😂😂 well that’s kind of harsh eh?
Well as an ex-pat Londoner living in the wilds of North East Scotland, I'd have to disagree. London is a wonderful place, but like many other places, has gone downhill in recent decades. When I was growing up there in the 60's, it was amazing, but I wouldn't want to live there now.
Well your miles off with that. It is absolutely the biggest most vibrant city in the Isles & this is coming from a proud Scot. 👍🏴
@@Kraken2681994 Oh that it is, but it bears little resemblance to the city I grew up in 🙁
@@TestGearJunkie. I don't doubt it.
Theres also plenty beautiful places in scotland, northern Ireland and wales. Whoever made the video you watched should have named it " Places in england" 😂 much love 🌺
Fair point! I’d love to see more of all those places!
It was a list of places in England. Larry just titled his video wrong.
Portchester Castle is another missed on that list
Noted!
Average larry in the house 😊..i live in England and it is very historic..ive been all over and some really mad places to go and see.i actually live in an old market town that had dick turpin stay in an old hotel which is still up and running..also triangular lodge where guy fawkes plotted blowing up the houses of parliment
What up Smiffy! Sounds like some must sees!
@@JustAverageLarry sure is dude 😊
I have heard many times
The British think 100 miles is long journey
And Americans think 100 years is a long time!!
This isn't UK but English only, UK is the four nations Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales x
London is not the best destination in the uk id have it down as one of the worst places to visit. Go the lake district if anywhere
But I'd definitely go to Bristol over usa thats where my mates are
Please learn the difference between the UK, Great Britain, England.
well since you're here... please.. enlighten me.
@@JustAverageLarry The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland comprises the 4 constituent countries of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Great Britain leaves out Northern Ireland. England is well, England. A lot of people (not just Americans) seem to think that the UK is just England, but there's so much more.
Just come across your channel and have been watching the uk police reactions… If you ever do travel over here to the uk and head down the south east way then come down to a town called ramsgate bro, you should pop in to my grandads award winning fish and chip shop. It’s called newington fish bar and it’s in Ramsgate. Look it up man 👍🏼 also you won’t be far from broadstairs which is a town close by that has a nice little beach and it’s a decent little town 😊
You’ve also got Dover not too far away where you can visit Dover castle which is full of history and a nice little day out 😊
Lol. The AI failed on this video. Cumbria is a county, not a country.
I knew I didn’t trust that bish! 😂
Yeah we wounder how they did them big arse stones hahaha
England Wales Scotland and Northants Ireland then Well the other countries that our King is the head of including Canada lol and Falkland islands
Ohh no not Brighton. The beach is stones
Ouch! Stone beaches are rough!
The lake district is in a county, not a Country
What happened to Wales , Scotland and Northern Ireland ?
That may be top 10 ENGLAND, nowhere near top 10 UK. It misses alot of places. Can't mention Chester and not mention Edinburgh or Snowdonia, Isle of Skye, Scottish Highlands.
The way she's describing the attractions of the Palace pier while showing the burnt out West pier. Duh!
.
Well best about uk than usa it's fair and cops know how to police without needing fire their guns which they do have unless they need to and they make sure your health taken care off than the bills.anyways don't forget Europe that went to America settled not the other way round lol
Not London.. Terrible place
😂😂 you’re not the first to say that!
It's not what it was, I agree, but it was where I was born and brought up, so I can't disown it entirely. There are plenty of places there I miss.
London the place not to be outside of London is the real England don't forget we are one of four kingdoms and head of our Kings commonwealth countries which make 1/3 of the world facts.
Top 10 in England!??? They weren't even the top 10 in England ha ha
England is beautiful until you get inland to the towns and cities then it rapidly becomes a dumppppppp
Much like a lot of places in the world.
Most these built before they even knew America was there but dam I have say show us place where no guns are in usa and u can feel safe without a nut with a gun please
not many of those lol
Ugh YUCK ! 🤮 london is the LAST place i would tell anyone to visit if theyve asked me where to go in the UK 🙄🤦♂️
This is a load of bull. Nowhere in the North was mentioned.
I love the interest you have for the UK man 💯 and I have so much respect for that bro. But, this is such a shit AI generated video. Does not do any justice 🤣🤣😖😖😖🙈 Hope to hear when you make the trip one day. Would be cool to buy you a pint 😉🍻
I’m definitely coming! And will hold you to that offer! 🍻
