Help! We are first-time Pom owners. Our pup just turned one, and she’s still not fully potty trained. Sometimes she does great; other times, not so much. We don’t free feed her anymore. We began free feeding her because her breeder free fed. Our trainer said that’s a big no-no.

I wish I would have found Katie last March when I got Bailey. Tried puppy pads she liked to chew them got fake grass she seems to like to poop there. But potty on carpet now she is older loves outside and understands potty outside. But I’d still like her to use fake grass in bad weather. We have a muddy yard also wild animals around I’m always afraid she’ll get sick. I walk her around the school nice grass and pavement but it’s always a drive. Which she likes my problems now is barking and my husband doesn’t understand we have to be on the same page use the same terms when speaking to Bailey and Consistency. Thank you
Yes! Same page and consistency are key. It’s so hard to train people to train dogs! 💗

i train my little dog with a little bell hanging up. i would say you got to go potty ring your bell ,ring your bell and she would oh so cute.oops first i would have to show her how to do it with her little foot .lol lol hope this help bc she run now and ring it with her little foot all the time , i sometimes tell her im not getting up u just went OUT SIDE!!

I have a pomeranian aswell. He is having reversed sneezing almost every day. Do you think this is normal?

Lise van gysel hi lovely, thank you so much for your comment! Hmm, I can only speak for Pepi’s behaviour. She’ll be 3 in summer and reverse sneezes every few days I think (sometimes a few times in one day) BUT, we are going to take her for a full health check up as soon as lockdown is over and get her reverse sneezing checked again. If it’s something you’re a little concerned about, it may be worth just checking in with your vet to make sure it’s nothing serious. Pom’s (and small dog breeds) can be susceptible to a collapsed trachea. This link probably explains it best. pets.webmd.com/dogs/tracheal-collapse-dogs If you can, try and video your Pom next time he does it, so you can show your vet when you see them 💗

Strangely enough our Pom x Maltese has been able to hold it all night in her crate from 10pm - 5 or 6am since she was 7 weeks. She’s 12 weeks now. She didn’t for first two nights in her crate, now she does since then. She barks when she’s awake and my son takes her outside and she goes immediately. We haven’t toilet trained her inside during day though… she’s currently only trained in her nighttime crate. She’s only in crate overnight

well all i had to do was convince one of my parents i asked them for years so i changed my tactic i only talked to the one of them i knew it would be easier to convince the one that has a hard time telling me no which for me is my dad i convinced him but he said that i knew my mom wouldnt want the dog but i kept on asking showing him pictures and then finally he said he would get me a puppy my mom was against it but my dad didnt care since he saw how bad i wanted it so im going to be getting a puupy real soon
Well for me I kept on telling my parents I really wanted a puppy I even talked to them separately but it didn't work but then one day I said that all my friends have a dog and I feel left out and starting crying and then they said yes and I am getting one this summer I am so happy and excited
Lucky :( my mom doesn’t likes dogs at home and my dad loves dogs and wants one but he of course goes on my mom’s team ☹️😕

May I just say all of your tips have linked in with my puppy she always goes to the toilet on our carpet as our whole house is practically carpet plus she hasn’t had her 1st round on injections yet as she’s only 6 weeks how do you train them to use a puppy pad?
Hi lovely! Typically in the UK, puppies have first round injections and microchip before they come to their new home (not sure if you’re in UK!) The easiest way, is if you see her starting to squat, run and grab her and stick her on the puppy pad before she gets a chance to go! It takes a few goes, but you’ll get there! Also, you can place them on the puppy pad and mimic mum (they normally lick them to stimulate going to the toilet) by using a bit of wet tissue. The more they go on the puppy pad, the more they will understand that that’s where they need to go! 💗

if you use a collar, switch to a harness instead, my dog made that noise a lot when i first got her i switched to a harness and started walking her an hour a day to increase her respiratory capacity and she hasn't made that noise since.
Nicolee yes, so important to walk them on a harness! We found this out after this community let me know, after our first few videos! 🙌🏼

We are struggling with making our pom pup feel comfortable going poo outside... It feels so cruel wandering around for half an hour while she is stressing to go to the loo. does it really work to just wait until she is desperate? I don't want her to have a negative feeling towards going outside
