We do a lot of 50-250k projects and have pay plans for residential. (Commercial is different of course). Our frustration is always when the client holding the last 10-20% and keeps nit picking everything. We were the same way on payment leniency but people are pushing it to far in our area. Next year we are implementing some late fees that won’t be waived. Awesome videos it’s fun to relate to the same day-day problems we all have.
You could see your a true nice guy anybody that would take advantage of such a good quality like that is stupid keep on being who you are that is a very good quality not many people have that in them, god bless.
Fantastic UA-cam video Tom. You're a saint and you're to good for your own good. You have a great heart and a tremendous work ethic. Keep making those videos and I want to buy some merchandise😁👍
If u own a business like this, everyone has people who don't pay or not on time. It is so frustrating to me, but you are right to be patient and do the right thing on your end and see what direction u will have to take.
Hi Tom, it is amazing that when it comes to money some people think that if they avoid you and not reply at all they think you will just give up and go away. If people are honest they will always call to work out a payment plan or ask for more time to pay. People that don't will eventually burn a lot of bridges and no one will do business with them. Having the For Sale sign is probably a clue that he is not doing very well Financially so hope you end up getting paid in the end.
My invoicing service offers a debt collection service which they charge 1.2% of the total cost of the bill. Getting paid 98 cent on the dollar, getting paid the day of and not having to bother with debt collecting is quite nice.
I went and collected my money in person showed up one time they were having party didn't care got my money and figured if I had to go collect in person don't need him as customer no contact signed word of mouth the way it use to be not anymore but had a ace in the hole never used it my friend worked at the sewage treatment plant and they have liquids they put on farmers field s it would eat the paint off a house and be done so fast nobody would know motor was electric so no noise 8:53
When we had our company(sold it 3 years ago) clients would have 30 days too pay, after 30 days a 17.76% interest gets put on until day 90. No payment after 90 days our lawyer gets involved and puts a lein on the house with the same interest rate for the year.
When they act like know-it-alls, literally tell them their ideas/concerns are stupid. It’s worked for me and shuts them up 100% of them time. Learning to be straight up without being scared of their reaction will make you more successful. This only applies if you actually know what you’re talking about.
On those evergreen trees use a little bit of 10-10-10 and some Holly Tone extended release fertilizer. On my trees I put about a tablespoon of 10/10 and two tablespoons of Holly tone on each tree twice a year and they are at a green as they can be I generally do it in the spring and I'll do it about September so they have some time to get that fertilizer in the ground before winter hits
I would tell the guy that if the payment is not received, then the trees/shrubs that were not paid for will be removed from the property by "x-date." Usually they will pay same day (from my experience). We had customers back when I landscaped full time that didn't like to pay. 99% would pay once they received notices like that...but there were those 1% that we did go back and remove items like trees, walls, patios, driveways, etc. They would call the police and the the police said we were within our rights to remove them as they were still our property. Same things when the "legal" notices arrived. People just overall suck.
Lucky you didn't get sued or arrested, law is you can't remove anything once installed/in place. You'd have been arrested here in NYS for sure. Seen it happen many of times.
@@angelicaconiguliaro3179 here in MN…law states that if a service/items are not paid for upon job completion or 30 days post job completion, then it is the right of the contractor to take back the property that is theirs. MN considers items purchased by contractors property of theirs until paid for by client.
Non payment. Great topic but depends on your local laws. Some states allow you to hold part of the property as a lien for payment. Eventually they'll end up fighting to keep their house because of the lien. Crappy way to do it, but hey, you can't waste time
Ive luckily never had someone not pay out of over 1000 projects , but i do require their signature and deposit . Jobber makes that simple i think that makes a difference . But if still have that issue input late fees in that clause kr notes and if have to do mechanics lean that can persuay some if had too , its a shame some will do this to people we work so hard and even if it was an easy job they agreed for scope of work performed . Ill sub to help some 👍
It's just extremely sad as business owners to encounter this problem.. in any business, regardless if the quote is $300 or 50k.. dont accept it and make good honest people come and do work if your intentions are not to pay.. this particular senerio rings true of an entitled narrsasist showing of his palace to the world without any regard of actually paying the professionals who ultimately stimulate his ego... worst customer run away.. take him to court get your money.. minus legal fee never will make a profit on this one.. move on keep your head high

@AirplaneDoctor_ False. That's an arborist. Of which I am. Are you in the USA?
Amazing, a property like that and he doesn't want to pay 5k. I can't stand people contracting work when they have no intention of paying.

isnt it better to shoot the clippings back into the grass ? to cut down on leaf blowing needed after

Bad on you waiting. I’d lien asap
Yes, trailers are vehicles, just not MOTOR vehicles.
People should not get the work done if they can’t pay especially if you’re being cool about the people not paying. Not cool
Included late fees in a contract. They will pay lol
Too bad somebody doesn’t recognize the address of the scumbag property and post it. Maybe bad things might happen there😮
An agronomist deals with crops and farming lol
Making payment negotiable is setting yourself up for failure. It’s business, not charity.
Put a lean on it. 5 seconds after not getting paid.
Hurry up with that mechanics lien
Only have 90 days from job completion
Property Lien and be done with it.
Yes put a lien 100%
Soooo...he couldn't pay $420/month for a year and clear the 5k? Weird.
Dude don't get taken by cons get paid when your jobs are done.

Lien if it’s not too late
