- Terence Dougherty, COO of the ACLU, testified during the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard about the op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post, which is the center of the lawsuit the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor filed against his ex-wife. Multiple emails between the ACLU and Heard showed the actress wanted the op-ed to come out shortly after the premiere of the film "Aquaman" in which she was starring.

The fact that Heard wanted the op ed released after Aquaman was done filming shows how calculated she was in putting her plan into action to boost her rating and destroy JDs career
Watching this witness, I feel they showed that the op-ed that was published, and is at the crux of this case, shows that Amber was basing it on the false allegations of ab in her marriage to JD. Therefore, in my opinion, she was certainly trying to defame him.
I'm beginning to think that Amber has such little regard for anyone but herself, that she didn't even give a single thought to whether her claims would result in defamation, she just needed the attention.

i refused to watch aquaman because she was in it... damn sure wont be seeing the second either... which sucks because i was really excited for the first one when i saw the trailer with Jason but the second it showed her i dipped out and refused to support it... looks like my decision was a good choice.

When I saw the movie, I didn’t know much about her as I didn’t really follow Johnny Depp and their relationship. To me, she ruined the movie. Ugh I couldn’t get past her looks, acting and voice. She was just awful and painful to watch. Storyline was meh ok. Jason Momoa and other actors were good and that’s about it. I hope she won’t be in part 2 or else I refused to watch it. Since the trial began, it has opened my eyes and I’ve become a big fan and supporter of Johnny. I can’t wait to see his next movie!

She has got three weeks to bring her witnesses on to the stand and any evidence she has. We are only half way through. Ambers side haven’t even started. They’re only allowed to cross examine Johnny and his witnesses for now. But expect her to bring our her ammunition soon.

Something else that strikes me about the original draft of the op-ed. It is apparent she wanted to defame him, but even if she didn't use the original which does include him, she can't claim the final draft was not about him. Yes she removed his name, but any 5 year old knows she is talking about Depp. Also, the NDA is there so she does not talk about the divorce to anyone. She included other parties including the the Washington Compost in her discussions which is a violation of the NDA right there. It doesn't matter what made it to public consumption at that point. she violated it because she is nuts and wants to hurt people.

Involved is an understatement. If it wrote the first draft, that implies the whole Op-Ed was jobbed out by AH. The turns of phrase, the serviceable sentiments, the cohesion and emphatic ending likely impressed AH with HER previously unknown gift of cultural literacy and HER brilliance as an accomplished Essayist on HER F I R S T attempt at publishing. I have always believed that domestic abuse, especially including physical was possible coming from ANY gender. Doesn't matter if the person being physically abused is bigger. The fact that such a person does not seek bodily harm to the other even when defending themselves leaves them even more vulnerable to just "take it" from the other person. I have been fully aware of women who will gleefully lay hands on their man because 1) that is their primary means of "correction" and 2) they know they are with someone who won't hit back or will avoid that manner of conflict. One sided physical abuse can be driven by either gender. Sure you can keep pushing the narrative of a male overpowering a female because those too definitely exist, but as women we're not being true to victims every where if we deny that there are in fact women out there violently attacking men whether it be with their bare hands or more dangerous instruments.

Amber has yet to start her defence with her witnesses and her testimony which takes place over the next 3 weeks. Too early to jump to conclusions because the scales will tip in ambers favour when she brings out her ammunition for 3 weeks solid. Depps lawyer can x examine them and try to discredit them but one thing is for sure it’s a rough ride ahead for Johnny when she starts her defence evidence. it ain’t over til the fat lady sings. So far he’s done well to discredit her but he’s not out of the woods yet. Far from it.

Correct me if I am wrong ... the damning article was GHOSTWRITTEN by an ACLU employee, according to the disclosure 'it was agreed the ACLU (note no precise name reference to Author but ambiguous allusion to the whole body of the organization !) would write the First Draft', inference being the author was not AH, but an ACLU staff member, someone with expertise, someone with a headful of long established RHETORIC on the subject of women's rights AND domestic violence. First draft is FIRST writing. AH did not write it; she jobbed it out.
Correct me if I am wrong...when the ACLU twigged to the hatchet job it did on JD, realized the extent of the damage from public pillorying of him, character-assassinating him, it did what any terminally-stupid institute that is forced to CYA must immediately do to polish its tarnished image: ramp up its responsibility- dodging which is the REALITY of organizations, which is what they classically do.
