CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT THAT GODLY KICK FOOT WORK?!
GODLY.
as much as I enjoy this song, my soul yearns for more ghost notes
Alex Ford Well, there has just been a cover uploaded with Gergő Borlai playing... check that out, satisfaction guaranteed ;)
Sometimes listening is more important than filling in. Though now even I find my self filling in when I play this...
I'm seriously digging this double crash for hi hats setup!
Old school Queens of the Stone Age used to do it as a rule. Crashes as hats only and rides as crashes.
So deep in the pocket he's found $20 in change
grant. k. Exactly why he working with Tigran
So deep in the pocket he's under the sofa
That beginning sounds like piano djent... haha. Respect for the dude. Solid playing!!
+ATMOSPHERES pretty sure this is tigran's live drummer
+Octavian Malcolm and studio for mockroot
its pretty much piano jazz djent
my man looks so happy during the sections when he doesn't have to play 4/4 with hands and can go off a bit flex his massive chops hahaha do that shit mannnn! respect:)
Man. I'm fall in love with these cymbals. And the song was just amazing.
Loving it, that groove! Jazz-metal is born
Heard this for the first time this morning and all I could of was Periphery and Animals As Leaders and I love it
"Are you not Entertained!?!?" ;);)
Underrated comment!
Justin rensel I agree!!!!
Oh man, makes my body tingle. This rhythm is amazing
My favorite song from Tigran! Love it! Great drumming!
Tigran Is a beast. And I’m telling my son, Arthur that he is named after this guy when he gets older.
Still coming back to this after 6 years.
See you next year.
Perfectly orchestrated and played
That stack is deadly!!!
Arthur reminds me of a modern Bill Bruford. Great with the polyrythms and odd time signatures, but it's that economical touch as well.
Thank you ! I'm more than entertained !
finally. . .
*djazz*
Amazing. Def one of the best and one of my favorites
Tigran Hamasyan is a genius.
dumkit sounds amazing
Yeah this is Djazz now, welcome to the new world

+Chris Troy Hi Chris, see response below.
+Chris Troy Rock Fusion

Middle Eastern Jazz Fusion
Actually. This is jazz. Tigran Hamasyan(the pianist) is from Armenia. This is how u play jazz in 4/4 time signature(tempo). Most of djent/progressive bands using this beat
Ahhhh that trash cymbal is perfect
LOVE THIS
amazing set!
it fking amazing its seems like piano djent :0
3.03... Love that switch up
still some sexy cymbals
Djazz can't be unheard.
In what time signature?
*Yes*
Tigran Hamasyan music is like Coltrane changes for rhythm.
awesome.
Brilliant
Artie Hnatek youre a savage
By hearing the groove. I feel my right leg is being separated away, far more away lol
Fantastic song! all kudos to Arthur and his band for the great music they write!
P.S. The main riff sounds a lot like "Initiate" by Haken don't you think?
It's taken me 4 years to find out what I connected it to.
How do I headbang on this
@Krisna Dexter many have tried. Many have failed
You can simply headbang in 4/4 with the cymbal or you can follow the kick drum pattern. The kick drum pattern is every 5 sixteenth notes kick once for 4 times then every 3 sixteenth notes kick for 5 times and the whole thing repeat.
@@jayc8503 its rarely to find someone who play dota love polyrhtym. *fist bump!
@@Ajoi1995 Hell Yeah! *fist bump!
@@Ajoi1995may I join for a triple fist bump after 4 years?
Drum N Piano have never been that metal!
We have witnessed the marriage of pop metal fusion in babymetal... Tigran now marries jazz and metal ggwp
I thought this guy was Richard Spaven. they look a lot alike and both are phenomenal drummers.
Очень круто!)
Fantastic such a great track, would it btw be possible to somehow get the drum stems for personal use?
Time signature? Go!
35/16 apparently
Good ol' 256/17
one word: POCKET
+MEINL Cymbals TAKE MY MONEY!!! Seriously though, how do you pronounce Meinl?
Can i have the backtrack please?! Thanks
What Genre is he in?
All at once. His middle name is genre
+Vol deMort Tigran Hamasyan's music is technically considered "Jazz." However, there are also elements of prog-rock, prog-metal, djent and even some of Tigran Hamasyan's upbringing of Middle Eastern music as well.
+MEINL Cymbals so cool to see such an official account use the word djent lol.
David Bennett sent me here
I expected his shirt to have a pocket
please spotify link ? :(
Aaaas that why ! The fucking snare sounds is ghostly is un stretched!
SOMEONE PLEASE DO A METAL COVER OF THIS, PLEASE????? I'M SO CURIOUS OF HOW IT WOULD SOUND LIKE!!!
Ask and ye shall receive...one year later. ua-cam.com/video/sGPYFTHr9dc/v-deo.html
Isn't this heavy enough?
I hate this guy he’s so fucking good argh
whats uh.. whats goin on with that snare head?
Brasil
This makes me want to quit playing my god I can’t put it together 😂
What is the time signature of this song?
35/16 and I'm not kidding... This guy is nuts
wut.... thats crazy
First part of the riff is a 4:5 on the quarter note (or "crotchet" if you're British) = 20 16th notes;
Second part is a 4:3 on the quarter note + one extra dotted 8th note = 15 16th notes, for a total of 35/16 (as Michael said)
BUT
He keeps the cymbals/snare going in a standard half time feel (basically 4/4), juxtaposing a solid groove against the shifting polyrhythms. They truncate the riff on the 8th rep to get the two cycles back together. I think the breakdown part is bit different but there's a similar juxtaposition happening.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
ty
In the schools practice rooms transcribing it rn lol
1:00 djent
Awesome

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!!
Love Arthur Hnatek except for his choice in clothing lol.
I want a baby from entertain me and physical education by aal
Ahhh, that explains the horrid snare sound: Masshoff technique in effect ;)
Great player and lovely cymbals though :)
+Charlie Lord
I wish he never came out with that method... from now on, we will have to cope with so many dead and boring sounding snare drums...
Charlie Lord how do you know he's using that technique?
Besides, I've never tried it but was think of doing it, is it that bad? Seems pretty cool
Certain angles (e.g. 0:23) you can see the wrinkles at the bottom due to the shadows :)
Not necessarily, but it seems to mostly be used to suck the life out of your snare drum, making it sound like any other (when done well), or just sound like ass (which is all I've managed trying it on any of mine). I can't imagine uneven tension like that is particularly good for the life of the head or shell, either. :)

Djent is pretty shit tbh
this aint too bad
+zackdoom It's fusion jazz?
seth kukel yeah
Fusion between jazz and Djent
Djazz
Yes, it's fusion jazz.
