I do go over a couple of the points you bring up against calendar theory (Piranha Plant and whether they planned it all) in the video. But I think you're definitely right, it would be a huge shock if we got a new fighter announced before E3.
its a good theory even with some holes in it, if we end up getting a fighter in May i could totally see E3 showing off the final fighter and them releasing in august so we are shockingly close to it working out!

Honestly, E3 is so significant that a character could be announced close to E3 and it doesn't mean there won't be a character AT E3. Two characters were announced 40 mins apart from each other in 2019, they don't have to be spaced apart.
The problem isn't that they have to be spaced apart, but rather that there's no reason to reveal a character in a random date in may when an event as significant as E3 is so close. At that point, it'd be better if they revealed both.
Why couldn’t it just be the one for May being announced and released in May, while the one for August is announced at E3 but released in August? If you want to adhere to calendar theory anyway

Mr. Sakurai outright confirmed once that Piranha Plant was planned for base roster.
I really want to see a dual reveal trailer at e3 regardless of a bonus character. Like:
Crash and spyro.(playstation mascots)
Master chief and doomguy. (The fps showdown)
Master chief and crash (hyping up a 'console war' theme)
Demifiend and doomslayer (because demons)
Dante and Demifiend (see above)
I love the reveals that emphasize the crossover aspect (sephiroth, incineroar,hero, etc.) And I want more like that...

Both FP2 and the FDC remakes were announced on the same day. It depends if Sakurai knew about the remakes in advance before deciding the characters for FP2.

I would love if the pass ended and character 12 was an echo of character 11. Not in the same way as richter or Daisy though where it’s basically the same character, but more like Ken to Ryu where the characters are similar but still noticeably different. Something like Sora with a Riku echo or Phoenix Wright with a Miles Edgeworth echo.

@@squallleonhart9387 because what I’m saying is if they were fairly different but still close enough to be echoes. Like how Ken and Ryu are pretty much different characters but still echoes. I think Roxas would be too close to Sora, but Riku is still a Keyblade master with similar magic but his own abilities.
They say fuck it and give us Sakura from street fighter, the lore equivalent echo of Ryu. Anything to get Precious heart music track in the game pls
I don’t see Sora w Riku as an echo working. Every echo so far has had near identical stances where as Sora and Riku’s distinct stances are iconic traits of theirs

While Calender theory seems very plausible, I feel like we'll just have to wait till E3 before we get the next fighter announcement. Plus, (not that I'm saying a character should only be revealed in directs) it would imply we would get a Direct before E3, and I don't think Nintendo would do that.

@@PapaGenos I think so too however, there's has been around 70 days gap between the release of Steve, Sephiroth, and Pyra/Mythra which actually does link to the calendar theory. If that comes to play, then we could expect DLC 10 to release on May 13th. But if I do another 70 days after that date, it would be on July 22nd (for DLC 11) which may or may not be a deal-breaker for the calendar theory but we just have to wait and see.

The new Amoung Us map is based on the airship from the Henry Stikmin games made by the same developer. Henry Stikmin has a ton of references to different games including smash so this doesn't mean much

Great video men, i was thinking, would you be interested about reading on "new" concepts that smash could implement and that also are not that much of a pain while using most of the things in the game? I wanted to make a vídeo on these concepts, but i don't know anything on video editing, but i really want to see these concepts in discussion in the community.
I think that we should start talking about what we want and need next for the franchise, since se are getting closer to the the dlc's ending. SO much could be done that is technically "easier" and could add so much to the franchise

About the TFB situation, I heard it's not just them but every Activsion studio. And that's what's really getting me worried about Crash and Spyro.

The idea of the 12th fighter being an echo would line up with Sakurai saying there are 2 more Sakurai Presents
Hey PapaGenos! I just want to start off by letting you know that I love your videos and I want to note out something that I noticed a month ago. So my speculation or theory is that FP Vol. 2 has a sort of “2nd chance” theme. So first off with Min Min, she is a character from ARMS which is a game that was considered to have a character in base game, but due to development time, a ARMS character didn’t get in base game. So I guess you can say that this was a 2nd chance to have a ARMS character in the game. I think u can see where this is going. Next with Steve, he is a character that was negotiated for 5 years and that finally got in. So FP2 was a 2nd chance to add Minecraft content after years of negotiations. Then with Sephiroth, he is a character from FF7, a game that was lacking representation in base game with spirits and music. So Sep, basically was a 2nd opportunity to rep FF7 better. And lastly (so far) with Pyra/Mythra, they are from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, a game that was ALSO considered to have a character in base game. But ended up getting music, spirits and a Rex Mii costume. So P/M gave a 2nd chance to rep XC2 better. With this pattern, I think we could get a better guess at what the next fighter(s) could be. There was that ‘rumor’ about a 5 year plan for Crash, which had the year 2021 as Crash for Smash. Which makes me think that Nintendo negotiated with Activision 5 yrs ago so they could get Crash in Smash. Steve was negotiated for 5 yrs, which means they both could have been negotiated at the same time. Just some speculation though.
Piranha Plant isn't a "challenger pack" because the Challenger Packs were promised to include songs, spirits and a stage along with the fighter. if the bonus fighter is in the same style of Piranha Plant, they wouldn't be considered "Challenger Pack 12"

About the among us thing, the airship map actually comes from the henry stickmin franchise(another game made by one of the devs of among us), and the original game also had the final destination painting, so it would be in the map even if there was collaboration between sakurai and innersloth
Here’s an interesting theory, unlikely as it is. The URLs for the fighters follow a pretty recognizable pattern. I think we could see if there’s a possibility for a FP3 by typing 700500000*2*xxxx. If someone’s dedicated enough to type out every single combination of 4 numbers, we could find out the possibility of FP3. I think it’s still very unlikely, but I can’t shake the URL pattern!
I'm quite a bit late to this but something I've also noticed that certainly supports the idea of an extra fighter is that on the Spirits List for fighters. There's just enough space to fit three more slots.
I hope the bonus character is something out of nowhere like how Piranha Plant was. Kind of like a “WHAT!?!” Character. Still hoping for Reimu.

In a perfect world, all the speculators would move into making shorts/movies with smash ultimate. They’ve got the tools in the game itself. All they need is the creativity to make a narrative. And I think they all have it.
One thing about Calendar Theory and Piranha Plant: Plant was released in late January *for early buyers of Smash Ultimate,* for free. Piranha Plant did not get publicly purchasable for the rest that missed this offer until *February 1st,* meaning that this is possibly Piranha Plant's official release date, making him still the February rep. It's similar to how Sephiroth's official release date is December 23, but people could play as him early as of December 18.

I doubt it’s another ballet since that would mean they haven’t even started to work on a hypothetical 12th fighter yet.
The Smash team started working on Bayonetta a week after the ballet came out, and since we're on track to have all the DLC finished by September (when we were told the pass would end at the end of December), it makes sense.

Literally nobody is talking about Shantae and Rayman! They were both spirits in the base game and are both wanted by the companies that own them! They both seem very likely and I am surprised nobody is talking about them givin how popular they are!

To this day I don’t understand why more echoes weren’t made. Wish they reused some of the custom moves from smash 4 to make em. Ofc I have no idea how hard that’d be but I think they could’ve figured something out. I hope they utilize echoes to their maximum potential later on in the future.
Because no one would be hyped for them?
Two reasons:
1. Sakurai knew they were too unbalanced and balancing them would require more work.
2. Most changes didn't have anything to do with the characters so it would have been too unfitting.
But even then Juan Rodriguez Balancing specials for 5 characters isn't that big of a deal, specially given how many changes ultimate made already
I checked it myself and at least 3/4 moves per character with an echo are different enough that it would be worth it
I 100% agree. Proto Man is the biggest missed opportunity. Mega Mans custom moves were just different moves, Proto Man could have taken up them and felt really different.

Okay, so this will 1000% never happen, but my wildest dream for a double reveal trailer for smash has always been this: It starts with Doomguy, he does his thing starting on a Mars base or something and he has his gameplay segement, ending with him standing over a bunch of demons in hell. Then all of a sudden you hear a rattling chain and a voice shout, "GET OVER HERE!" Doomguy meeting Scorpion in hell sounds like the actual coolest thing ever, but I don't see Scorpion happening in general, let alone in a combined trailer with Doomguy. It's still so much fun to think about these crazy crossover situations.

Could an ArcSystem Works character like Sol Badguy be possible for the Fighters Pass? ArcSystem Works does have Spirits within the game with River City Ransom characters, and they've had a pretty decent track record of releasing games on the switch!

I don’t know if that’s just my copy of the game, but I was playing SSBU and I noticed that all of the event spirits after Peachette don’t have their respective images. Instead they have the spirit logo replacing their image.
i will say this its geno i strongly believe and yes i know he is a mii costume, but they have really stated that they would have updated mii costumes like rex for one. thats my option

So going on about a bonus fighter, I have to think Namco could be a bit different they are working on Smash and I'm pretty sure they have said something about not needing a fighter this time around. If they are getting profits from helping make the game I could see them handing over a fighter to give out as a bonus saying that they don't need a stage or music. I could also see Sakurai giving them an extra fighter as a thank you for all the hard work they've done on both games. Someone like Lloyd Yuri Heihachi or Ms. Pacman as an echo (weird rights issues aside) as a bonus fighter wouldn't shock me in the least bit.
Hoping that any of the fighter packs are Rayman and Doom Guy 🙏🙏🙏
It's a two part trailer. You have Steve and Banjo fighting Snake and Cloud. Xbox vs Playstation. Obviously Steve and Banjo are losing because they are against some of the best fighters in gaming. Then from the sky comes Master Chief to save his Xbox brethren. The day is saved and we leave the trailer. Whenever they choose to do the next reveal, Snake and Cloud come back for revenge, but with their backup, Crash Bandicoot. It would be a difficult trailer but it would be a perfect way to reveal the last two characters, being basically the most highly requested and deserving characters.
I highly doubt we will have 3 western reps i think only crash will be in but it's a good trailer idea

This was some great speculation.
Something else to consider about Crash Bandicoot situation, mainly the lay offs at Toys for Bob. This shouldn’t hurt the franchise as Activision has already announced big plans this year, and the possibility of the next games being worked by another developer, maybe Beenox as they helped in development of Crash 4 and were head in developing CTR Nitro Fueled.

Activision said the same about Skylanders and look at what happened. Didn't even last 10 years like they said. The same can be said about Crash, because the bigwigs can change their minds anytime, and now, they now show no further interest in Crash and perhaps canceled their "big plans" for the series.
And regarding Beenox, they are also working on Warzone as well; You can see their logo on startup after the Infinity Ward logo.
@@X2011racer plans would only fall flat depending on the business. For Skylanders case, Toys come to Life idea was slowly started to fade out when other companies try to get in and took the concept too far. Crash Bandicoot so far hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down yet and so far each game has been developed by different game devs. And PapaGeno did address why these current event shouldn’t harm Crash’s chances, which is why I mentioned Beenox.

Hey PapaGenos, I just thought of something.
So in Age of Calamity, one of the few non DLC or amiibo outfits from Breath of the Wild not available is the Ancient Armor. Probably because Robbie wouldn't have Cherry or any Ancient Oven to make it yet, just like the other ancient gear so it wouldn't make sense in the story yet.
However, there is going to be a bonus Link outfit and weapon for people who preorder the Age of Calamity season pass, and the trailer for it showed Ancient weapons made by Robbie's Ancient Oven alongside Robbie and Purah, who are almost definitely the DLC characters.
It would make sense to give Link the Ancient Armor and one of the oven weapons as a bonus to tie in with the theme of the researchers, as the Royal Ancient Tech Lab is one of the few things we know about the AoC DLC.
It's a bit strange how the bonuses for 2 different DLC passes could be the Ancient Armor, isn't it? Personally I don't think it means much because they probably would have saved the Age of Calamity spirit event for a character from the BotW Trilogy, but I'm also not Sakurai so who knows. Could mean something though.
Now while we're talking about Zelda spirit events being saved for later... Cadence of Hyrule *still* doesn't have one (or even a mii costume) after nearly 2 years, and the Link's Awakening HD spirit event happened the week of Cadence of Hyrule's release, making it the only spirit event (that I can think of) to happen months before the release of the game it was promoting. Almost like they bumped out Cadence of Hyrule's event for later while deciding FP2.
...alright I'll stop being the single person who speculates about Cadence in Smash, for now at least. haha
The echo fighter at the end being possibly an echo for the last fighter gives me hope for scorpion and sub-zero.
