- My wife has been asking me for years to build a deck on the back of our house [Part 2]. So even though it is the hottest part of the year I decided, let's build a deck. In this video, I show you the steps and techniques I used to add decking and stairs to our deck. Now some of the codes in my area might be different than in your area, so please always check the requirements before you start building.

Proverbs 9:14 - Навчання та стиль
When you are installing the 2x10 at the bottom of the stairs make sure it is Ground Contact Safe material. Most 2x stock at the box stores is not so you may need to go to a lumber store for them. It is a big pain in the back side to dig out the rotted plate only a couple years after you built the steps because it rotted away. You can also put some stair hangers under the stair stringers so it is not always in direct contact with the damp cement of the footer. Secure the hangers to the plate and the stringers to the hanger.
So far so good can't wait to see the next part 👍🍻🇨🇦
Thank you Dan
Great job
YEAAAAAAA I was waiting for your 2nd video to this Deck 😁👍👍

That tool definitely beats the chisel trick but the chisel trick was handy
It looks great
Thank you

Thanks Loren
what measurements did you use to have your last / first step level with the top of your deck? thanks.
Hello, what are specific sizes of the through bolts??
Good Job!
Thank you Dave
Good idea. I too hate to waste 2x12's. Been there done that.
بالتوفيق انشاء الله
Great video it's coming along great, i think you got our weather with all that rain as we are into week two of a heatwave.
Why did you use a Circular Saw and a Pull Saw to cut those stringers, when it would have been much easier to use a Jigsaw?
Stay Safe and dry,
Barry (ENG)
You are correct, but I felt like I could keep the cut a little bit straighter with the circular saw instead of a wavy pattern that I would have cut with a jigsaw. 😁
Agree, a circ saw is a lot easier, faster and straighter than a crazy jig.
Some of the crowns are pointing up on deck boards, that ok?
He is going to have cupping problems down the road.
Is there a reason we don't use the deck screws to connect the stringer connectors ? Why use nails here?
The sheer strength is my higher with the nails.
@@SpecificLove7 thanks! Is galvanized or stainless steel recommended?
why did you not use joist hangers , here code is you have to use them on the deck joists and the stringers
I did use joist hangers on the house side.
You can't install railing posts on the outside of a deck here and meet code.
Sorry to hear that, the codes can change depending on where you live.
no g-tape on the joist? it might not be code, but it's the right way to do it.
48x16 deck here, joist tape would be $300. I bought 5g of Liquid Rubber for
