As I understand it, Josh died on the operating table and was resuscitated. While he was gone, he didn't feel any pull towards heaven or see a bright light. He came back without any inkling there is anything more after this life. The whole album is shaded by this feeling. Super dark, but arguably my favorite QOTSA album
I saw this production live several times and it was absolutely the highlight of the show. An amazingly massive song that is also almost emo/shoegaze in its feel, you are right there with him as he disappears, fades away, becomes invisible in his life.
Love me some QOTSA. I had tickets to see them in a month but they just had to postpone all dates to next year due to the singer's ongoing health issues. Get well soon Josh!
This is by far one of my favorites from QOTSA. IMO the best from LCW. There’s never been a song that’s been able to musically and lyrically hit my heart strings and the feels, until I heard this song.
A lot of that guitar solo is off the cuff, there are some hooks they use to signal when they have jammed enough and are moving on but a lot of the solos Josh does live are improvised.
Please, please, please do more qotsa or TCV live... ( Wouldnt mind Desert sessions either, though i don´t think they´ve dun any live stuff..unless you count JoshNfriends supporting PJ Harvey...or is it the other way round?..the way finds u...)
I'm with you on live music. The album version of this song is amazing, but you don't get the same solo at the end, or even quite the same vibe, really.
That IS what he's "talking" about, but I'm a huge QOTSA guy, & I didn't realize that on my 1st listen. Or my 5th. It was when I READ about it, actually... cut the girl a break, would you? At 1st listen, I just thought it was a metaphor for a certain kind of relationship. Didn't realize he literally needed to be shocked awake...
Yo let’s fucking go I never expected you to do this, the live version of this song is very possibly the greatest QOTSA song of all time. QOTSA is one of the best live bands of all time and maybe the best festival band ever, absolutely go see them new time they’re in your area it’s incredible

there must be a reason he started wearing a crucifix around his neck :D
One of the greatest bass lines I’ve heard. Mikey Shoes is a beast.
Bassline on this is absolutely glorious, Mikey is the fuckin man
Best song on the album that's full of amazing ones.

Rad!!
If I had to say what my favorite QOTSA song is to hear them play live it’s definitely this!!
The best live version ever! I want it played at my funeral!

Listen(Killswitch Engage's) my curse
Pls you have to react acid rain by avenged sevenfold
This reaction take sucks. He’s talking about dying and coming back to life.
