According to a article published by Forbes, it will cost United Health Group approximately 2.2 billion dollars this year.
I worked for a bank for nearly 3 years that did the crediting for major private label credit cards (PLCC) such as Lowes, TJX, Carecredit, etc. In the 3 years I worked there and I have close friends who still work there, there has never been a breach in the bank. Credit cards or their other portion of the bank that handles HYS accounts, money market accounts, etc. Companies have to stop cutting corners with it comes to security.
It should be mandatory for companies who have civilians information such as medical insurance companies, to have government or above government cybersecurity capabilities. And every year a random audit should be done by the government to see if the employees, higher ups and company as a whole are meeting or exceeding standards.
