I've always loved listening to this guy and his amazing bands. His playing is so fascinating, as he has quite an aggressive attack and always such interesting note selection. You can recognize his playing, it's like the old 70s feel except technically better. Amazing player even now (2024)!
Agreed! I saw him on his farewell tour with the old Mahavishnu material about 5 years ago, and at 75, he was still playing the kind of runs very few players can do at any age; amazing! He seems to have taken very good care of his health, thank goodness; we need him around as long as possible!

As much as I love Hendrix and Beck they should not be mentioned in the same breath John McLaughlin. To mention Van Halen and Page in the same breath as McLaughlin is blasphemy.
@@kerrylee4633 Yeah, I hear you. McLaughlin is ALSO great for the varied styles he plays. THAT could be the thing that separates him from the other guitarists. But Hendrix's "Red House" from "In the West" is possibly the ultimate electric blues "performance" of all time if you add the extra component of him singing AND playing.
@@shootfirst2097 Hendrix and McLaughlin are on their own plane. They are both guitarists that should never be compared with anyone. I also agree with you about Red House. The only electric blues performance that would even be the same realm would be Duane Allman on Loan Me A Dime.
McLaughlin is always amazing, as well as his incredible technique I love his great sense of drama in his solos-a fabulous musician.
Yeah; extraordinary genius composer, player, bandleader, and a humanitarian as well!
thanks so much for sharing

whats it called when the drummer starts singing at 54:00?
It's called Konnakol / Konokol
Guitar maestro... he should be mentioned in the same breath as Hendrix, Page, Beck, Van Halen, etc

Mark mondesir is still my choice for the 4th dimension drummer even though ranjit been doing it way longer now
He's better than Hendrix,Page,Beck,Van Halen combined!
Why waste time posting stupid comments? Do something intelligent and constructive with your day!
All these Jazz guys are better than these rock players any way.
É o tipo de espetáculo que após ouvir a primeira música já dá vontade de ir embora!!!! Música chata pra caramba!!!
Falou muito mas falou bosta
