    Makes you respect guys like Ryan Neal from the Seahawks even more,
    Quietly hustled on the practice squad, waited till he got called up, balled out made big plays, filled in admirably for injured Jamal Adams, now he’s permanently on the active roster and the team finds roles to utilize his skill set

    The constant state of tension and managing the mixed emotions must have been intense. Staying positive must've been a lot easier said than done.
    On the other hand, I've got two friends who were 2nd and 3rd stringers in the league, and they had houses 5 times the size of mine.

    Seems to me like a practice squad guy could make himself useful with XO type stuff, film study, etc. and turn that into a potential assisstant gig even at a college with a reference from the NFL team. I know young guys don't really want to hear that though.

I appreciate what they do for our teams and for our sport. They are an inspiration! I am glad that people love the sport itself aside from the glitter of fame and fortune. I tried out for an NBA D league team. It was a memorable experience, but it was also very emotional difficult. You get such hope, but it’s such a long shot dream. It’s not as glamorous as it seems.

    Hi JT.
    Your channel is great. I'm a Chef in Canada and would like to know a bit about meals and nutrition, particularly on the road.
    Here are the points I am asking:
    1) Are players the night before dining as a team or are they permitted to go out on their own?
    2) The pregame meal- is it catered by the hotel banquet departments?
    3) Do teams still do the orange and banana services or have sport science meals replaced them?
    4) The replacement post game meals- are they catered by the airlines or are teams bringing in food from restaurants?
    Working in kitchens, we normally work hungry because of the pace, heat and stress. After the day ends and we get our showers in, major hunger then occurs. I couldn't imagine the hunger about an hour after a pro ball game.

    Good stuff J.T.! I remember having football cards of you, which was pretty cool. Through this, there were some assumptions I would have about a practice squad; I guess you answered it a bit given that there weren't even 20 players on the practice squad, but I thought that there were enough players to run like 6 v 6 starter vs practice squad? Or maybe positional drills with practice squad players to avoid injury or fatigue? Ok one more; Do you have a version of the current playbook so you can try to memorize plays and work to recognize how it might defeat certain defenses? Do you get to use the facility and practice with the other practice squad people to refine? You played during the NFL europe days right? That must have been a blast and nice for a second chance. ty

Running backs for example. Let's say I'm 4th string and the organization is only carrying 3 on the active roster and I get released and picked up on the practice squad. Am I running the opposition's running plays against the first string defense or is that deferred to the other two guys above me on the depth chart. I get that the second string QB will run scout team but is that QB specific and the other positions are practice squad personnel?

    Is it better to be on the practice squad or go try to make a spot on the Canadian Football League?

    I have a Question Coach, when you get cut by a team why is it that another team can't pick you up until you clear waivers . Also, how does waivers work...

    But do you get to go to games and stand on the sidelines or do you watch the game from home when on the practice squad?

    Would you rather be a starter for arena football or on an NFL practice squad?

    Sometimes I feel as a Bears fan that if we didn’t trade for Jay Cutler we would’ve been fine since Orton was all we needed with that defense and we also coulda saved a first round pick.

    How many hidden gems are on a practice squad ? I mean obviously they got cut for what ever reason but I would think some slip through the cracks

    I wonder how many other leagues have something similar. Like g league in the nba and how much talent isn’t giving the chance.

    Do practice squad players go to games? I know they don't travel, I know they don't play in games. I just want to know if they go to home games, whether its on the sidelines or whatever. Google has not helped me answer this question.

      They can go to games but they cannot be on the field. I have an entire video on my channel about them from how much they make to how many years they can be up there.

    I clicked on this video for the title and it was very interesting and insightful.. I always wondered.
    5 seconds into this vide "I'm J.T. O'Sullivan" And I'm like......... why is that familiar?????
    Alex Trebek: "This NFL quarterback was traded to the Green Bay Packers prior to the 2005 NFL draft, where they drafted the successor to Brett Favre."
    Aaron Rodgers: "Who is J.T. O'Sullivan"

    • @garyv2498
      @garyv2498 3 роки тому

      Sorry if that's a bad rub. I'm a Pack fan, so I'm going to hunt your past videos to see if there are stories or not. But after that quick google search I remembered why the name seemed familiar. That had to feel kinda bad to see Rodgers get drafted just after getting traded to Green Bay.

    Way better pay,& gig, than the average American's job. I get theres tough things about it, but tough for me to feel to sorry for these guys,Im unemployed cuz of the Pandemic. As you said, it's much better than getting cut,& having to find a "real job," but I do get where you are coming from.

    What do you mean with the overflow in the second locker room?

    • @Rockie___
      @Rockie___ 3 роки тому +1

      There is 53 spots on a NFL Team. When you include the Practice squad which is 10 spots you have 63, there’s only 53 lockers in a average stadium so the overflow would have a auxiliary locker room with 10 lockers in a whole different room.

    If you take nothing from this but one thing she keeps saying how fortunate and lucky he was that is a big part in life that we cannot control. Even successful NFL quarterbacks have to get lucky breaks it's what you do with them because everybody gets them but just remember an ex- NFL quarterback when talking about his career is talking about how fortunate and lucky and the brakes in which he got but they would have been times he did not know but he still worked hard even though there was no guarantee if you don't put the work in you get disqualified from taking advantage of fortunate events in your life

    This is why I think the NFL needs a minor league like the AFL to develop practice squad players, like they could play in the summer and we can have football year round.

    • @joeo4496
      @joeo4496 3 роки тому

      Not going to happen: the NFL has a free developmental system in the NCAA: no reason to pay for a minor league
