My biggest issue with Omens is simply how it completely fails to design its stages around the Infinity engine. The engine from what i gather feels at its best in wide levels with losts of free space. Doing a basic spectacle game with wide levels would be best for it. Kinda like the first few sonic stages in Omens. The engine DOES NOT do well in closed in areas. Tight platforming is a massive issue with the free flowing and floaty controlls of the engine. The tree is the perfect example of this. Its missery mostly because properly landing jumps is so hard.

Honestly, the biggest issue I have with the story is the fact that they’re incorporating major elements from both sonic unleashed and sonic X, two stories with settings that absolutely contradict with each other and they make no attempt to explain anything about it.

One thing I noticed that is rarely talked about is the fact that a lot of bugs are largely inconsistent throughout all other computers just shows the unpolished nature of this game. I’ve seen bugs here that I haven’t seen others playthrough and vise versa.
I don't know if I'd say that inconsistent bugs between computers is a matter of polish, but rather the amount of them As a game dev you sometimes get headaches over bug reports from testers with an issue that you can't replicate on your own PC which makes you have to figure out what is different between your machines for that to happen, and you just can't have every brand and type of PC available for you to be able to catch all of the bugs that appear on PC types you don't have access to for testing
When I played the demos for this game, I excused a lot of the BS I encountered with "The game isn't finished yet. They have time to fix this." Well, now it is finished and there is no excuse.
Do remember that if they put it in the demo, that means they’re proud enough of what they have to show it off. Bigger changes like that, while not impossible from a dedicated enough team, are unlikely if they’re comfortable including that stuff in a showcase
13:43 That Scream was better Acted than everything in the game XD In all seriousness though, I commend you for putting yourself through what I would put mildly as a *Painful* piece of media. Great stuff.
Huh... Might have been better to have chris as the exile.. Being based on what the word exile means... Chris exiled himself from his world to find sonic... Then again that takes more than 2 seconds of thought.
I don't know if anybody else experienced this issue, but I tried boosting into enemies (like you do in every other sonic game) and it just did not work. I always got hit.
Yeah, I do agree with the issues with Shadow's Chaos powers, even in games like the modern Tomb Raider trilogy when you switch between Lara Croft's weapons using the D-pad, they always show a sub-menu of the weapons and variety options for them locating in each part of the D-pad, making the switch easily visible. You wanna switch to Lara's bow? Go to the up D-pad. Switch to Lara's shotgun? Go to the left D-pad. It's that easy and simple. I don't know why they couldn't just set up Shadow's Chaos powers this way. Also, there are a few continuity issues with the plot of the game. Like the fact that this game clams that both the Chaos and Master Emeralds are fully destroyed, even though there's the DS version of Sonic Colors where the true final boss is the Nega Mother Wisp as Super Sonic and the Mother Wisp shows up a lot as cameos like in Team Sonic Racing. It's like the people making it doesn't consider the DS version to be canon and only thinks the Wii version is the more canon version.
Another neat example of a dpad selection is Devil May Cry 5. The style switching there is pretty simple but not only consistent with the previous game (as in trickster is on the same dpad direction) but the UI also shows pretty well what style you are on and has the starting letters of the styles aranged like the dpad.
I love how this video isn't even a day old and the comments have already turned into a war zone. This game truly is the Mega Man X6 of Sonic, except that Omens honestly looks even worse.
Omens is making Cyberspace look like a masterpiece.... And Cyberspace may have its own list of issues, but that list pales in comparison to this game....
Green forest being a boost stage was a bizarre choice. Seeing that and how uncomfortable it looked while others played it made me stay away from this game. Good video essay! You got my sub
In regards to the walking section, I dont know if it was patched in omens but the infinity engine has a glitch where if you spindash and then spam the boost button you can just boost even without anything in the boost meter. Still a goofy idea but its breakable atleast
6:52 correct me if I’m wrong, but reading the subtitles makes it seem like they’re trying to say, “wreaking is Knuckles’ thing, but he’s busy guarding the master Emerald right now.”
1:01:43 I do get the Earth one. Eggman cracked the earth open in Unleashed and terrorized the human world multiple times in Sonic X. Like you said Chip would have stayed in the core either way but funny thing is that i am pretty sure Sonic did more harm to chip by falling on him and giving him amnesia. Angel Island might refer to Eggman taking over and starting a huge fire in Angel Island Zone... but i wouldnt give it as much priorety as the "certaintly" would suggest.
@@Robbay363 huh... guess that could be the case. Not giving Unleashed any fault in that i tend to take information i get at face value so Sonic suspecting he was the cause was enough for me to accept that. Thanks for clearing that up.
Honestly Sonic GT completely destroys this game. The only thing that Omens does better was the looks and length. I have no real stake in either one's story or voice acting (because I have a stupidly high bar for voices) but while GT has a very simple story only there to drive you forward if you take even a little closer look into Omens it literally make 0 sense and is so convoluted it's no wonder that it's hidden behind unlockable. Speaking of those the collectibles for GT were super fun to find and actually gave something to care about and the radar as more incentive while the red rings in Omens were basically the same as generations which is fine but not anything new. It just really feels like Omens doesn't have any passion and was just bloated out because of how much they wanted to cram in just because it was a cool reference. Omens barely gives any room for skill that even trying to jump over platforms or short hop on to them is just impossible because of the engine. If there is anything to take away from this, go play Sonic GT, I know it doesn't look the best but man it feels way better than this one.
Tbh if someone crazy enough decided to take time out of their day to remake Sonic Omens from the ground up what do you think should the game be what level design do you think would work with Sonic Omens how should the bosses play out and what should the story be?
Aktchyally, ya Dont understand. It's Dark Souls of Sonic. Game's writer is huge Miyazaki fan so he and devs decided to make their own Dark Souls 4 aka Elden Ring but in action platformer genre. Also Russian localisation is funny af. Game script was originally written in English, edited by Sonic's VA and then edited in Russian by Discord mod while these extras were written in Russian, translated by I guess Google or Yandex Translator and then edited by Sonic's VA.
You deserve more subs. I’ve been searching forever for an in depth review of sonic omens. Most videos I’ve seen just talk about the drama sorrounding the game. There are a few exceptions where there are a couple good reviews, but I always just wanted them to go even more in depth. And this vid is pretty much as in depth as you can go.
On the topic of the Chris thing. Chris somehow fused the worlds because science, plot, and his obsession for Sonic. Still weird. And annoying still that they made you do a walking segment for Chris Thorndike of all people. This game is so freaking weird.
@@PointingouttheObvious The only thing I even like about Omens is that its recent update did some things like a few camera tweaks, and add Super sonic. But they even made it so Super can get hurt if he does something like run into a firewall or get shot by an Egg pawn. Which is wrong.
@@PointingouttheObvious Yep. They made him function like in the boss fight against the furry armed not-Metarex. Which also means if you can fill his boost gauge enough times, and get a stupid amount of rings, you can S rank a stage easily.
I guess that’s fine but if you have ever watched my livestream of the game I’m never downloading the game again. I don’t think there was any thing they can do to make me download the game again.
I know I'm like 6 months late, but honestly everything about this was spot on to the flaws of Omens even if I kind of have a guilty enjoyment of the game on its own. I will forever defend Exiled though, I admit he isn't on par with actual Sonic villains, but man his design is cool, his voice is cool, his boss even if it's shit to play in, is still pretty badass with Weight of the World blaring in the background which is one of my favorite songs ever ngl. Could've been alot better if he wasn't tied to this trash and used to make a Metarex. I admit, I love its idea of a large arena to boost in as base Sonic to build up energy for either an attack or to become Super Sonic with fuckin energy slashes and tracking beams. The way the boss proper was handled flubbed it real bad but the core idea is legit one of my favorite ideas I wish more games could take a try at. Game still sucks though. Soundtrack was also badass though imo. Probs a 4/10 for me.
Am I the only one that thinks Exiled is the only character that has actual good voice acting? No, seriously his voice sounds completely fine compared to the rest of the cast.
8:02 Ok, this had me cracking up, I don't know why... 13:42 *PFFT!* I'm sorry, WHAT!? *Laughs* There's never been a 3-D Boss WITH THE FLYING PLANE! *Laughs* At this point, Sonic Omens sounds like an interesting set of concepts, with very pathetic execution! 38:17 *Laughs* WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED TO SHADOW!? *Laughs* I'm done... Sonic Omens makes even less sense then My Stories that I'm working on... At least I'm thinking somewhat straight, Sonic Omens is just f***ing chaotic as hell! They screwed this up so damn bad it's HILARIOUS! Talk about the worst execution I've ever seen in my life. The Concepts are good for what their worth... But all they ruined the execution like they were trying to be Sonic himself. Of course, I'm just nitpicking and teasing. Earned a sub though!
If they ever make another Sonic fan game I think they should discuss with the other team members before building it up the story and explain more and get new ideas before the project of making the game and of course to make sure not to make the same mistake again and learn for experience! You know(and I know this is a bit old-I think?- hopefully I typed this correctly it’s like 5:35 A.m. where I lived and haven’t slept yet-)
Yeah I had to remove copyrighted music and that’s UA-cams way of doing it. Since they marked the video as copyright a week after it was uploaded. I hate that it’s there but I can’t do much cause if I uploaded a new version the video wouldn’t have done as well. Sport about the audio quality I hate it it too.
Didn’t prison island appear in shadow the hedgehog so it would make sense sonic would visit the island again bc shadow already did that but I do agree what u mean(I’m actually stupid
Here’s an idea on how to improve Shadow’s chaos power controls: on a console controller, holding the left bumper grants access to his four chaos powers; for instance on a Xbox controller, A for dash, X for spear, B for control, and Y for blast. I would also remove the free-aim of chaos spear and give it its own separate reticle to automatically target buttons and enemies when holding down the left bumper. That’s how I picture the easiest way to control Shadow’s powers, but others may have a different control scheme.
I know I am late to this video but I am gonna say this You brought up a lot of points that I had as to why I disliked this game, and while I noticed some continuity issues with the story and plot, you noticed SO much more and honestly it made me hate the story even more, but I am so glad you brought these points up. As someone who has never watched much of Sonic X, I thought the Metarex where just robots, I didn't know they weren't so seeing how they were supposed to look in comparison to the Exiled, really goes to show how much the devs cared about that portion. Anyways, this is an amazing video that I had a blast watching, great work on this!
21:11 Not sure if you noticed on your initial playthrough or prior to the postmortem, but if you take out these three enemies here and then go to the left instead of going through the path ahead, the dead end wall will open up to reveal Vector (who sounds like a bad Stitch from Lilo and Stitch impression) just for a forced "Find the Computer Room!" reference where he'll then explain to Shadow that GUN is letting him access their files for the Chaotix's detective work or something...
Thankfuly I play 3.2.0 version of omens. And overall I like it(except tornado, Vortex, worm, tree palace, Shadow movement sections(spear is lame, vertical dash control is weird, chaos control platforming is too unexpected) quick step and slide sections which JUST DON'T WORK IN FREE MOVEMENT!!!)
I don't know why I stumbled across this video a year after it came out, but I genuinely think you'd be a better voice for sonic than the one they use in the game
You are the second person to say that and I don’t know how to feel about that. But seriously thanks for watching if upload more often if college wasn’t a hellscape
Damn, I made the complete same argument against the tree levels (that the first one's a useless slog that's hell for a first playthrough, and the second one's basically "Ori but Sonic takes their place and it's 3D"). Cool to see someone else thinks that... Fangames are either really good or barely even mid, and there's NO in between.
I dunno why but seeing Chris for the first time and the dialogue just screamed kingdom hearts vibes. Especially how he turns his head at the end. Feels like it was inspired by.
tbh not that this game looks particularly good but it really doesn't look much worse than Cryzenx's ocarina of time remake that will never get finished.Or really just about any "Nintendo hire this man"-tier fan project for that matter.
@@PointingouttheObvious Don't misunderstand me, said ocarina of time demo is also garbage.Controls and mechanics are super off, tons of assets are just hideous, and the bloom is turned up so high it is legitimately hard to see even 10 feet in front of you at times. Honestly, the fact that Omens is even a finished product shows that at the very least the team had a somewhat realistic idea of the scope of what they could handle which automatically puts it ahead of most of these unreal demos. Cryzenx's ocarina of time remake has supposedly been in development for an entire decade and is just barely past the point where you meet Zelda.Even then, this is with fanboys on his patreon literally creating assets for him. Nintendo themselves will likely remake this game before this or most projects like this ever reach an even remotely finished state.
I am really tired of the positive shit with this game thx for doing your job you know and you know what the sonic show is shit for simping for this game
gonna be honest this footage is from my second playthrough which has me making some mistakes but I can assure you I played this game a shit ton while writing this script. But also why i kept me messing up out of the script as much as possible hence the cuts to things that weren't my fault and thought where wonky. But yes a lot of the footage isnt peak performance.
I' finally downloaded and played it through yesterday for my steam deck I'd say the parts that I hated were the plane sections For the other bosses, the only one I died to was Maria a few times, but the other's are just really lame. Except for the Exiled. I did like that one. Probably cause I saw a lot of gameplay of it before I actually played it and the music was kick ass.
@@PointingouttheObvious Agreed. And I'd say most of the main levels are decent to run through with super sonic, especially since you don't even have to wait to get 50 rings, you can use him at the start of the level. Still hate moldy jungle though lmao
What!? How is Metal Gear Rising Revengance's story exactly bad!? Never played the games, but at least I can appreciate Hideo Kojima's work Material. Ever heard of taking it slow? That is How I try to play every single game I can get my hands on, even I have trouble with games like this. Hey, I can appreciate Sonic 06 more because, while it is buggy as hell, At least one can put up with it the whole way through! To me, There is nothing worng with walking and talking. Sometimes you have to take it slow, because slow and steady wins the race. If you go too fast, you fall, trip and burn.
Kojima didn’t really write the story of rising and it never reall grabed me. My problem with the game making me walk is more my distain for being locked into a scripted event. It basically just becomes an unskippiable cutscene and it only gets worse on repeat playthroughs. Doesn’t help that the game is fast paced most of the time anyway
I do think a lot of the criticism this game gets is fair yes but also harsh as this is a free fan game after all. If the game didn’t look so polished and have pretty graphics and good animations then there’s no way people wouldn’t be this harsh. There are way worse 3d fan games but you never seen in depth videos tearing those to shreds. Having said that this video is great though.
You do realize that Sonic Omens originally wasn’t going to be free. They were planning on having people pay money for this. The only reason it’s free is because Sega threatened to sue them as trying to make a profit off of licensed work/ IP that isn’t yours, is illegal. That were all this “harsh” criticism is coming from. The creator was fully intending on making people pay money for this garbage.
I tend to binge on this every once and a while. Not to mention this does a great job reminding me how stupid this game’s story and writing is in conjunction to Sonic lore, (even Sonic X for that matter, considering how I didn’t watch that series for years)
I haven’t heard it in a while but I think it was pretty good. It’s just the people who made this game where threatening to take down videos that used the music for the game if they didn’t like the video. So I made the video without discussing the music much cause I wasn’t able to play any of it.
There's an extremely annoying bug in Area 99, if you boost at a specific slope, you might clip inside it. It happened to me so much, it's really annoying. The plane sections made me stop playing the game. AND I WAS PLAYING WITH A KEYBOARD. I just hate this game so much. The visuals and the music is good and it has some expressive face animation. But why is Chris in the story? Who asked for him? Who asked for this game?
Another thing I noticed about the "Worst Cutscene in Sonic History" was that whenever Shadow Mentioned GUN, He'd Spell it out and not say the word like the rest of the cast
To be fair regarding your point at 39:01, characters fighting when their goals align is a very common Sonic trope. (It’s still stupid both in those game’s context & this game’s)
Just a quick fun fact, the part where the game automatically switches to the Chaos Dash, you can just boost after homing attacking the enemy and it works better tbh
i think the player who test the game was a pro or something like that because you should be a genius or smart ass guy to figure it out in a first time play
And that player never exists pros and speed runners need to have extensive knowledge about the game how it plays what things can be used to skip stuff rather than just being an annoyance they NEED multiple playthroughs of a game to master it so your wrong.
Uh no they did not knock sonic of the island. Sonic ran to tails an Amy and the flew of the island. Also the game said something about tails and gun stoped eggman when he couldn’t which again dosent align with sa2 at all. It literally makes no sense
I’ve never played this game, and never will due to everything I heard from 2021. But my goodness, you make this game sounds like it’s awfully design, and I’m never gonna play it to experience this H.F.I.L hole (Ocean Dub D.B.Z reference). After playing S.A.2, that game was overall fun, minus it aging, enemies coming out of nowhere to hit me, Gamma’s & Chaos, ghosts and I guess the rail mechanic. Still that game was pretty good, I liked all (minus Kart racing) stages. I liked the speed stages, the mech stages are really good (imo Hidden Base Zone is the best in the whole game), treasure hunting is fun to see how fast I can try to beat it in only 2-4 minutes. They’re most simple, at least to me, I understand the movement of the characters, their abilities and such, and learned the level design. I didn’t like most of Rouge stages, but liked her 1st and last level, but when trying the once I didn’t like, I started to like them. But this sounds like no matter how many times I’d play this, I would never like it. My god it sounds awful.

As a game dev you sometimes get headaches over bug reports from testers with an issue that you can't replicate on your own PC which makes you have to figure out what is different between your machines for that to happen, and you just can't have every brand and type of PC available for you to be able to catch all of the bugs that appear on PC types you don't have access to for testing
Shadow's voice actor immediately made me think that he was trying to immitate Meta Knight from Kirby right back at ya
When I played the demos for this game, I excused a lot of the BS I encountered with "The game isn't finished yet. They have time to fix this."
Well, now it is finished and there is no excuse.
Do remember that if they put it in the demo, that means they’re proud enough of what they have to show it off. Bigger changes like that, while not impossible from a dedicated enough team, are unlikely if they’re comfortable including that stuff in a showcase
@@robertlauncher And given the ego of this particular team, they probably wouldn’t listen to any feedback.
13:43
That Scream was better Acted than everything in the game XD
In all seriousness though, I commend you for putting yourself through what I would put mildly as a *Painful* piece of media. Great stuff.
Huh... Might have been better to have chris as the exile.. Being based on what the word exile means... Chris exiled himself from his world to find sonic... Then again that takes more than 2 seconds of thought.
Oh my god it would have been better than a fucking metarex
The game is not hated enough and is overrated. It makes Sonic 06 on PS3 or Xbox 360 more appealing by its existence alone.
I don't know if anybody else experienced this issue, but I tried boosting into enemies (like you do in every other sonic game) and it just did not work. I always got hit.
It just happens sometimes
It's like the people making it doesn't consider the DS version to be canon and only thinks the Wii version is the more canon version.
why do shadows chaos powers reek of someone who play tested the game too much
Another neat example of a dpad selection is Devil May Cry 5. The style switching there is pretty simple but not only consistent with the previous game (as in trickster is on the same dpad direction) but the UI also shows pretty well what style you are on and has the starting letters of the styles aranged like the dpad.
@@PointingouttheObviousthat would imply someone play tested this mess
I love how this video isn't even a day old and the comments have already turned into a war zone. This game truly is the Mega Man X6 of Sonic, except that Omens honestly looks even worse.
Omens is making Cyberspace look like a masterpiece....
And Cyberspace may have its own list of issues, but that list pales in comparison to this game....
Prison island still exists…
You go to it in shadow the hedgehog. It definitely should be more damaged, but it is still present
Yeah but it’s a waste land with green stuff everywhere if I remember correctly
Wasn't the moon also retconned?
@@keithflippers4429Nah it's just always facing the other side (ime not joking💀)
@@theguywhoasked2597 alright which one made that one up?
@@keithflippers4429 izuka said it in an interview only the dark side of the moon was destroyed
I loved that part when sonic says "It's omening time"and started omening all over the boss
(Personal Bookmark) 1:02:53
So… you like the game, right?
of course obviously 3/10 is a good score dont you know
To their benefit, there is a level called Prison Island in Shadow the Hedgehog that is stated to be the same one from Adventure 2
But it is like fucked in that game it’s crazy that it went back to normal so quickly lol
Is it kinda weird that Chris almost looks like Sora but as an adult in this game?
Tbf, Chris's hair always made him look like Sora. Even in X.
Watch out TheSonicShow is coming for you man
Half the reason I made this vid tbh
1:01:43 I do get the Earth one. Eggman cracked the earth open in Unleashed and terrorized the human world multiple times in Sonic X. Like you said Chip would have stayed in the core either way but funny thing is that i am pretty sure Sonic did more harm to chip by falling on him and giving him amnesia. Angel Island might refer to Eggman taking over and starting a huge fire in Angel Island Zone... but i wouldnt give it as much priorety as the "certaintly" would suggest.
Chip's amnesia was actually because he was woken up too early by Eggman.
Copious doses of copium.
I don’t think that word means what you think it means
Tbh if someone crazy enough decided to take time out of their day to remake Sonic Omens from the ground up what do you think should the game be what level design do you think would work with Sonic Omens how should the bosses play out and what should the story be?
@@sonixx3272 The story should be good.
@@leonardoalvarenga7572 He's just a better game than that, take it
Aktchyally, ya Dont understand.
I didn’t really get a Spanish or Russian vibe from Shadow’s voice acting. I got more of a French vibe.
Lol I’ve never thought of it that way but I find it funny everyone understands his accent differently
Nah, it sounds like a Russian accent more than a French one
Sonic Zombie Shadow vibes
Sonic Omens is the Dormitabis of Sonic fangames.
13:43 Best scream ever.
this truly is the sonic fandoms version of hunt down the freeman
You deserve more subs. I’ve been searching forever for an in depth review of sonic omens.
Most videos I’ve seen just talk about the drama sorrounding the game. There are a few exceptions where there are a couple good reviews, but I always just wanted them to go even more in depth.
And this vid is pretty much as in depth as you can go.
Thanks a lot man every comment like this really means a lot :)
Also be sure to check out the post mortem we went into a bunch of detail in the hidden lore of omens and played the latest patch.
On the topic of the Chris thing. Chris somehow fused the worlds because science, plot, and his obsession for Sonic. Still weird. And annoying still that they made you do a walking segment for Chris Thorndike of all people. This game is so freaking weird.
on god
@@PointingouttheObvious The only thing I even like about Omens is that its recent update did some things like a few camera tweaks, and add Super sonic. But they even made it so Super can get hurt if he does something like run into a firewall or get shot by an Egg pawn. Which is wrong.
It’s like they forgot super sonic is meant to be busted lol
@@PointingouttheObvious Yep. They made him function like in the boss fight against the furry armed not-Metarex. Which also means if you can fill his boost gauge enough times, and get a stupid amount of rings, you can S rank a stage easily.
I guess that’s fine but if you have ever watched my livestream of the game I’m never downloading the game again. I don’t think there was any thing they can do to make me download the game again.
In sonic omens I thought that Shadow’s voice actor was Mexican
Same 💀
If the cutscenes weren’t animated so well no one would care about the story.
Hey it’s never too late dude thanks a lot for the comment it means a lot
@Pointing out the Obvious Thank you for the stellar in depth dive!
Am I the only one that thinks Exiled is the only character that has actual good voice acting? No, seriously his voice sounds completely fine compared to the rest of the cast.
Nah his voice was fine probably why I didn’t harp on it in the vid
i like omens too but i have no guilt in enjoying it

Ok, this had me cracking up, I don't know why...
13:42
*PFFT!* I'm sorry, WHAT!? *Laughs* There's never been a 3-D Boss WITH THE FLYING PLANE! *Laughs*
At this point, Sonic Omens sounds like an interesting set of concepts, with very pathetic execution!
38:17
*Laughs* WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED TO SHADOW!? *Laughs* I'm done...
Sonic Omens makes even less sense then My Stories that I'm working on...
At least I'm thinking somewhat straight, Sonic Omens is just f***ing chaotic as hell!
They screwed this up so damn bad it's HILARIOUS!
Talk about the worst execution I've ever seen in my life.
The Concepts are good for what their worth...
But all they ruined the execution like they were trying to be Sonic himself.
Of course, I'm just nitpicking and teasing.
Earned a sub though!
I don't know man, Puss n Boots voicing Shadow sounds pretty awesome.
I would die of laughter if Antonio Banderas voices shadow in sonic movie 3
If they ever make another Sonic fan game I think they should discuss with the other team members before building it up the story and explain more and get new ideas before the project of making the game and of course to make sure not to make the same mistake again and learn for experience! You know(and I know this is a bit old-I think?- hopefully I typed this correctly it’s like 5:35 A.m. where I lived and haven’t slept yet-)
55:35 suddenly the audio quality is 2004
Yeah I had to remove copyrighted music and that’s UA-cams way of doing it. Since they marked the video as copyright a week after it was uploaded. I hate that it’s there but I can’t do much cause if I uploaded a new version the video wouldn’t have done as well. Sport about the audio quality I hate it it too.
Shadow from this game sounds like meta knight from kirby right back at ya
You know you are not the first person to say that
Ok? (not sure what that got to do with anything but aight then) thanks for pointing out the obvious I guess, wait, ooooooooohhhhhhhh
Lol I just find that funny that you weren’t the first person to point that out. My friend rob did it on a stream so I found your comment funny.
Well that's one heck of a coincidence
Didn’t prison island appear in shadow the hedgehog so it would make sense sonic would visit the island again bc shadow already did that but I do agree what u mean(I’m actually stupid
You aren’t stupid. You are correct about the shadow thing. But it was absolutely destroyed so it should have looked different
48:37 hmm a newer version of the Egg hawk.
Ive only seen such a mental breakdown sparked by sonic media from this and lowarts archie sonic retrospective
God those videos are so funny
I’m a top tier hater for this game because of all the gassing up for it people did for it to be pretty bad
11:17 in all my years of being a sonic fan i did not know there was a tornado section in lost world
Oh really? Yeah it’s in the bonus stages after you beat the game
Wait, what happened to sonic's voice actor before the rebrand? did they leave on their own accord or were they replaced?
Here’s an idea on how to improve Shadow’s chaos power controls: on a console controller, holding the left bumper grants access to his four chaos powers; for instance on a Xbox controller, A for dash, X for spear, B for control, and Y for blast. I would also remove the free-aim of chaos spear and give it its own separate reticle to automatically target buttons and enemies when holding down the left bumper. That’s how I picture the easiest way to control Shadow’s powers, but others may have a different control scheme.
3:45 I just love Latinas, Sonic
I know I am late to this video but I am gonna say this
You brought up a lot of points that I had as to why I disliked this game, and while I noticed some continuity issues with the story and plot, you noticed SO much more and honestly it made me hate the story even more, but I am so glad you brought these points up.
Never too late thanks for the comment
21:11 Not sure if you noticed on your initial playthrough or prior to the postmortem, but if you take out these three enemies here and then go to the left instead of going through the path ahead, the dead end wall will open up to reveal Vector (who sounds like a bad Stitch from Lilo and Stitch impression) just for a forced "Find the Computer Room!" reference where he'll then explain to Shadow that GUN is letting him access their files for the Chaotix's detective work or something...
🙃
@PointingouttheObvious I'm moreso baffled after watching the lore dumps on the postmortem that the GUN computer room is in Shadow's simulation.
Nothing makes sense lol
@PointingouttheObvious Pretty much my thoughts when we suddenly have new Gaia Temples that are conveniently not associated with the Gaia Colossus.
Give shadow the theme of Meta Knight from Kirby right back at ya and its even better. Very hilarious.
People shitting on Sonic Omens always makes me happy.
I don't know why I stumbled across this video a year after it came out, but I genuinely think you'd be a better voice for sonic than the one they use in the game
You are the second person to say that and I don’t know how to feel about that. But seriously thanks for watching if upload more often if college wasn’t a hellscape
@@PointingouttheObvious Good luck with college!
Hunt Down the Eggman
How dare you, drunk Antonio Banderes Shadow is the best 😂
idk if its just me tails starts to sound more like amy the more he talks
I dunno why but seeing Chris for the first time and the dialogue just screamed kingdom hearts vibes. Especially how he turns his head at the end. Feels like it was inspired by.
it helps that he heavily resembles sora
tbh not that this game looks particularly good but it really doesn't look much worse than Cryzenx's ocarina of time remake that will never get finished.Or really just about any "Nintendo hire this man"-tier fan project for that matter.
I think my standards for fan games may have been skewed because of sonic fangames come out at a pretty high quality now that I think about it
@@PointingouttheObvious Don't misunderstand me, said ocarina of time demo is also garbage.Controls and mechanics are super off, tons of assets are just hideous, and the bloom is turned up so high it is legitimately hard to see even 10 feet in front of you at times.
Lol as the way most projects go
Goddamn dude I loved it when Sonic said "It's omenin' time" and omened all over Chris' grave
I am really tired of the positive shit with this game thx for doing your job you know and you know what the sonic show is shit for simping for this game
Nah fam homie is just bad at the game the more I watch his footage
gonna be honest this footage is from my second playthrough which has me making some mistakes but I can assure you I played this game a shit ton while writing this script. But also why i kept me messing up out of the script as much as possible hence the cuts to things that weren't my fault and thought where wonky. But yes a lot of the footage isnt peak performance.
To be fair, it is inconsistent (in comics at least) whatever or not Shadow can only use his Chaos powers without the Emeralds.
I' finally downloaded and played it through yesterday for my steam deck
I'd say the parts that I hated were the plane sections
For the other bosses, the only one I died to was Maria a few times, but the other's are just really lame.
Except for the Exiled. I did like that one. Probably cause I saw a lot of gameplay of it before I actually played it and the music was kick ass.
I here they made the bosses less bs in the more recent updates it sucks that it’s still boring tho
@@PointingouttheObvious Agreed. And I'd say most of the main levels are decent to run through with super sonic, especially since you don't even have to wait to get 50 rings, you can use him at the start of the level. Still hate moldy jungle though lmao
Bro was cooking until he said Metal Gear Rising had shit story. I'm gonna block this channel now due to him having one opinion I don't agree with.
Lol
Doesn’t help that the game is fast paced most of the time anyway
you make a great knuckles voice
The creator was fully intending on making people pay money for this garbage.
great video! i liked the part where you screamed
I tend to binge on this every once and a while. Not to mention this does a great job reminding me how stupid this game’s story and writing is in conjunction to Sonic lore, (even Sonic X for that matter, considering how I didn’t watch that series for years)
Some part of me wants to look at this..."story" and rewrite it into something more coherent.
It'd be very cool to see a competent rewrite of Omens' "story"
You could at least point out the final boss music, which is FIRE in my opinion! :P
I haven’t heard it in a while but I think it was pretty good. It’s just the people who made this game where threatening to take down videos that used the music for the game if they didn’t like the video. So I made the video without discussing the music much cause I wasn’t able to play any of it.
Wonder which game has worse boss fights, this game ire Superstars
Oof. That is hard
12:17 This got me cackling and idk why
Another thing I noticed about the "Worst Cutscene in Sonic History" was that whenever Shadow Mentioned GUN, He'd Spell it out and not say the word like the rest of the cast
To be fair regarding your point at 39:01, characters fighting when their goals align is a very common Sonic trope. (It’s still stupid both in those game’s context & this game’s)
Well giving sonic a percentage meter does give more presision on how much boost you can use
and giving shadow a chaos meter was a neat idea
You lost me at the part about Metal Gear Rising
I just don’t find the story interesting. Well not interesting enough to be forced into a scripted walking section for almost 10 minutes
I mean, I prefer Rogue without lipstick
26:40 The chaos emerald are power ups but shadow can use chaos powers with out emeralds
I keep coming back to this video just for the walking segment rant 52:36
Bro, so mad that he made the league roll for sonic the wear hog
Just a quick fun fact, the part where the game automatically switches to the Chaos Dash, you can just boost after homing attacking the enemy and it works better tbh
i think the player who test the game was a pro or something like that
because you should be a genius or smart ass guy to figure it out in a first time play
And that player never exists pros and speed runners need to have extensive knowledge about the game how it plays what things can be used to skip stuff rather than just being an annoyance they NEED multiple playthroughs of a game to master it so your wrong.
All that bullshit about the island was from sa2, making the dark story cannon aka knocking sonic off the island
Uh no they did not knock sonic of the island. Sonic ran to tails an Amy and the flew of the island. Also the game said something about tails and gun stoped eggman when he couldn’t which again dosent align with sa2 at all. It literally makes no sense
Nah, it deserves the right amount of hate.
I have a question, did the events of adventure 1 and 2 happen like in the game or like in the anime?
No one has any idea
37:51 How did you manage to glance over the fact Shadow said “jew-en”??
Bro i was already heated at the cutscene by that point 💀
