      I went with what I could get locally at the store and that is what was there - i wanted to show that you can make a good strategy without "professional" products. My assumption is these same products/brand are available in most of the country and I wanted to be relevant to as many folks as possible.

    I've had a terrible issue with summerpatch over the last 5-6 years. It appears in early July every year and destroyes my front yard. I've use several apps of propiconazole each year, applied at the rate listed on the bottle. No luck. I just purchased disease ex and will be throwing down down the first application today, followed by several intervals. Fingers crossed. I always have the nicest lawn in the neighborhood until July. Then, all hell breaks lose.

      I have the exact same issue!
      I start out the season with an amazing lawn with tons of compliments and by the end of July everyone asks what happened. Then I spend the whole fall and spring working my tail off (as well as a ton of money) to get it back. Then repeat the cycle. It’s starts off as grey leaf spot and before you know it it’s melted out.
      I’ve got 20000 sf of tall fescue. I’ve probably spent $350 this year on most of the fungicides mentioned above, but here it comes again, just like every other year. Anyone have any suggestions?

    I’m using this strategy with Scott’s disease ex and liquid propiconazole. The propiconazole I’m using is a generic at 14.3% concentration. The bioadvanced is only 2.4%. The Scott’s disease ex has the same concentration as heritage and is actually a little cheaper by the pound.
    I’m in central NC with tall fescue and super susceptible to brown patch once the humidity kicks in.

    Can you do a video on how to recover from a fungus infection? Brown patch swept through our newer neighborhood last fall, and by the time I recognized what was happening and stopped it with fungicide, the damage was done to my 3yo perfect sod. I did cut out and reseeded maybe 50 of the 1-foot dead circles, and replaced others with plugs from other areas of the yard, but you can tell something bad happened, as the sod is now all mottled and pitted.

    I used that Bayer Advanced on my lawn for a fungus I got last year and it sprayed out way too fast. As a result I had way more die back than I should have had and that part of my lawn is having a hard time coming back this year. I don't think I'll using that product any more and if I do I'll put it in a pump up sprayer and spray it that way. By the way, that carbonx did a great job on darkening up your lawn. I can't wait to get some. Unfortunately you don't have any in stock right now.

    • @webeducation

      Think its because of lawn stress and clippings. Cutting and adding fungicide on the same day may stress the lawn too much. Also when the clippings are on the lawn the granules may not reach where it needs to go right away.

    This product has been great for my lawn. I have a little under 2600 sqft bermuda. So since the bottle will treat 5000, I'll shake the bottle real well, then open it and pour out 16 oz into a separate container. So now, I know that the 16oz I have left should stretch my sub 2600 sqft. It's a bit extra step, I know but I'm very technical so it keeps me sane.

      @LawnDad 5 років тому

      Unfortunately, I don’t have that... The pack I bought last year came with Humic12, Air8, RGS and Micro Greene. I thought the best of them for this was Air8 because Jonathan Green recommends to use Love Your Soil with a fungicide application to help it penetrate more. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @Thelawncarenut
      @Thelawncarenut  5 років тому +1

      @@LawnDad your pack is great and yes Air8 is awesome for creating space in the soil. I was just giving you another little trick if you wanted to mess with it. The d-thatch will help take any brown/dead spot down in a hurry because it has molasses in it that excites the microbes so anytime you have dead grass (from disease, mowing, etc) it can be used to speed up the digestion of that dead grass.

    • @LawnDad

  • @legrue1
    @legrue1 5 років тому +1

    Love the channel Allyn and the yard is looking great. I see the domination lines bro. The only problem I have with this approach is the fungicides will also kill the mycorrhizea (benificial) fungi as well. These beneficial fungi help the grass as a primary immune response to disease and excrete enzymes toxic to nematodes which feed on the roots. They also increase your grass' ability to absorb water and nutrients in the soil by about 10 fold because they are able to get to the nutrients that are locked in places too small for roots to get to. To rebuild that good fungus you would need to add a soil inoculation to rebuild the microbiology. Also known as "getting your soil right". This would be 50 bucks extra you might not have to spend every time you use fungicides.

    • @Thelawncarenut
      @Thelawncarenut  5 років тому +1

      hey bro - good stuff! - yes for sure I know that fungicides have some negative effect and that's why I'm only treating the sections of the lawn that I know are not fully established to my standards (talked about this in the podcast). Once I feel like the turf is strong though, I rarely if ever use fungicides after that. Such as with my Floratam (the part I mowed in this vid) that isn't getting fungicide this season as it's been established for 10 years and fights off disease naturally very well. I'm not sure about adding soil inoculants though - that's way over my head for sure.

    One thing I’ve noticed around my area is a lot of common Bermuda grass in a cool season lawns. Most people mistake it for crab grass for some reason. Early spring there lawns start to green up then the Bermuda is still dormant. They say well I’ve gotta get something for all this crabgrass. There again know what your treating so I have to tell them it’s common Bermuda. Only thing I have found to treat it is PBI Gordon’s over the top, Bayer Bermudagrass control several apps or Pylex! This is an episode in its self. In the early spring late fall I’ve seen people treat there lawns with glyphosate kills the weeds not Bermuda as long as it’s dormant. I live in transitional zone. I’ve been killing Bermuda with glyphosate then using a piece of sod to cover the area. Do you have a video or tips for this thanks again for all the help Allen

    Hello! I am new to this but and fast becoming obsessed. I am confident I have a fungus that was most likely due to bad cultural habits, dull blade (actually I discovered my blade was on upside down believe it or not), over watering, over fertilizing, etc. I applied the Heritage C and then a few days later the Eagle 20 EW and I noticed a that most of the lawn turned yellow a day or so after the Eagle liquid sprayer application. I thought maybe I didn't mix the ratio correctly? Well about two weeks go by and no noticeable improvement. After further research I discovered I may have' take all rot root'. So I applied about a 1/2 inch of peat moss over the entire lawn, waited a little over a week and then and applied the Bayer RTS and again I noticed a lot of the lawn blades are yellow again the day after the Bayer application? I made sure to do it in the morning and on a day that was not expected to reach 85 at all. I live in Houston, Texas. I have a 2,800 square foot yard and didn't even use half of the bottle of the Bayer. But it honestly looks worse now. I have the Scott's Disease Ex but haven't applied it yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

    Up Here in Swi., we have shade Trees for our lawns and that makes the Difference- with Proper Watering, Milnorginite and some other Things( Epsome Salt) Weed and Feed in early spring and lateFall to keep them dandeliens at bay) it does go into drought and heat ( 85-90) for 4-6 wks here..Aug thru Mid Sept.. We tried staying down at our Winter Home outside of Naples, but it was just too Humid and hot for us Northerners.. for 5 mos..and then them Hurricaines? No thank you.. But , instead of hibernating Indoors in teh AC 4-5 mos yr, we do that in our Nasty Winters with Heating on.. but we also Live on a Lake and nice crystal Clear to go run off our Peirs and jump in or take one of our Wave runners out for a spin to make a Lunch or Dinner run on our Pontoon Boat with Neighbors..And Non of the Gaters or Snakes to contend with in our Lakes.. I',surprised not many Shade Trees in those Nice Big Yards or to shade those Nice Homes? How come? Thanks for the Vids and look forward to your next one..

    I’m having horrible problems with what I believe is take all root rot, what’s the best thing I can do? I have st. Augustine and live in south Texas. I already tried peat moss, heritage G, and eagle and the grass is still yellow and frail. What else can I do Al?

      start spoon feeding it with liquid fert. Since the roots are gone it will need to get nutrients via the leaf tissue and liquids can do that. 7-0-0 Greene Effect would be perfect for this thelawncarenut.com/collections/soil-optimization/products/n-ext-microgreene-greene-effect-combo

    You could also get a digital scale. Weigh the bottle before you treat your first section, and weigh the bottle afterwards. You can achieve accuracy down to the ounce. It all depends on how accurate you want to get. Just depends on how OCD you are LOL.

    Hello from Orlando, i am trying fix my dying st Agustine backyard. a quarter of it died in the past 2-3 months. here is what i did to to the lawn so far
    1. i start cutting twice a week, setting ~4"
    2. May 25, i spray the fungicide to kill diseases ( spots on the leaf)
    3. May 28, i spray weed control, lawn pesticide and throw down some 15-0-15.
    4. June 25, put down some Milorginite.
    I have couple questions hope you or you fans can help me answer them.
    1. we are getting 95-105f heat index. will it hurt the st Augustine to add nitrogen during summer?
    2. i want the grass to grow back ASAP without new sod. what product can i use to push the growth during summer?
    3. from a youtube vid, the gentlemen was using 46-0-0 to help growth because his lawn has lots dead spots. can it apply to st Augustine grass too?

    First time user of a garden hose sprayer and had each section timed out but the bottle emptied before I got done with 1000 square foot. Started the second bottle with the intention to spray quicker but both really emptied before the 2 minute mark. What the heck did I do wrong and will 15k sq ft of this product sprayed onto 4k sq ft of yard damage damage it?
