I came here looking for hard. Not saying this isn't hard for a normal player, but there are Mario Maker levels harder than this. If you want to really challenging ROM hack, look for Super Mario forever, also known as Super Mario frustration. I played it back around 2008

The gameplay seemed very similar to the NES, where the shells go through you the first pass so it was legit. You could even stand by the piranha plant and not get touched in the spots where the player was at. Hopefully the person that uploaded this will say where you can find these levels.
