I'm an extremely proud WELSHMAN, but I wish this song, would be made the national anthem of Australia, it's bringing tears to my eyes, as I'm listening to it,, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SONG, SUNG BY AN AMAZING SINGER.
Is there anything that doesn't make this song perfect? Great musicians, excellent background singers, incredible bagpipe player, unique song and a John Farnham who sings this song with his heart and soul. The icing on the cake is the vocal audience. It can't be better. This is the song of all decades!
I like this more: ua-cam.com/video/X-TPRdzHZDU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Gary86 actual one is too... mechanic seems, missing drive. Generaly thats problem of most orchestras... they are great in reading notes, but missing drive in most of cases...Played in one, in few European countries.
I was there in '88. I just close my eyes and listen to this and I'm transported back to a wonderful era. The 80s was such an incredible era for music, John and everyone in general. Oh God how I miss those times!!
Not just an anthem, not just a protest song - it's a rallying call to the entire world - stop the destruction, be non- confrontational, don't start stupid meaningless wars, learn to live as global citizens in a global world, co-operate with each other make the world a better place for everyone! 28 9.23. UK. E❤
The question then becomes, what should be the response when someone starts a stupid meaningless war? Like... Putin's invasion of Ukraine. There are many looking at each other down the barrel of a gun there. But Ukrainians are defending their homeland. Should they not be doing that? Should Palestinians not be defending themselves from continuing Israeli occupation?
I hope John Farnham reads all these comments. I"m commenting again just because I watched it again and I do when I'm down. Just as said below. One of THE most iconic performances ever. Thanks for posting this.

This is my sanity song, played as loud as possible as often as possible after my wife died 10 years ago. Still works today! The best choice for a World Anthem
I was born in Scotland and went for a job interview recently....... This song came on just before I arrived at the company's office........i belted it out and walked in 12 ft tall. I start in January ❤️

2021.....March 26.....from London on my lunch break! We need to sing this song during this Covid-19 saga just to encourage us again that we, the people need to be heard. Thanks for this beautiful song.
Played on Saturday at the World Freedom Rally in Trafalgar Square. Were you there? Together we are strong. More need to join us so this tyranny can be overthrown once and for all...
I remember going to Johns concert. We all ran down the front like teenagers! Mothers with kids! It was well overdue. We fell in love with him in the 60’s & the 70’s. My favourite back then was one is the loneliest number that you’ll ever see etc,.
We saw this at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. I still remember the bagpipe player on stage. Truly amazing. We should live by this: "I am the voice." Put an end to tyranny and human suffering
I saw him twice at The Brisbane Entertainment Centre (when 'Whispering Jack' was released) and both concerts were EPIC. What an incredible talent and really nice bloke. ❤
The bag pipes has to be the best bit then the salute just tops it all of.. outstanding!! What a performance! Hard to believe that 30 years have passed since it's release.

The feeling you get when you listen to this masterpiece. Wow. 😊 and its crazy to see that no one has a phone in their hands recording or go live, just enjoying the moment…❤
I am from Europe. Seriously speaking, Australians should be proud of their John Farmer! Such a strong, powerful and uplifiting music and singer. One of the best and powerful songs and a singers I have ever heard. Well done Australia...you nailed it!
You should look up some of his duets... with Tom Jones, Coldplay, Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes... It shows off Farnham's ability to sustain a note, project his voice over a cacophony and his stagecraft.
After 16 years, I hope to feel the same as you. I cannot stop listening to this song whenever I feel down. It lifts me up and brings back the faith I never knew existed in me! The crowd's energy makes me feel wanted even though I don't know anybody there & will probably never meet them. Goosebumps for me too!! :]
I made a music playlist for my 14 month old granddaughter, as she loves to dance and this is her favourite song on it. As soon as the clapping starts at the beginning, she turns to grin at me. When it gets to the chorus, her little mouth is in an 'O' shape, ready, and then she quietly sings along, in time, too. Melts my heart every single time. When the bagpipes play, she grins at me again and I shout 'BAGPIPES'! I just know that she'll be shouting it, too, before long. Amazing song/anthem and this performance is fabulous,!
There are always iconic moments at any concert, George Michael bringing on Elton John, Queens performance at Live Aid In 85, Phil Collins live version of In The Air Tonight, the way John introduced the piper and his performance, followed by the roar from the audience shows this will always be one of them, fantastic 🇬🇧
This guy has what I call a "Freddie Mercury level of live audience control". You cannot get any better than that. Great. He is for sure under the Top 5 audience control singers ever (being Freddie NUMBER 1, of course).
I'll vouch for that ! I have been going to John Farnham concerts since he was Johnny Farnham and I was 13 years old. I've just turned 64. You could say I'm a bit of a fan ! 😉 LOVE THIS MAN ❤
Speaking of Freddy - check out JF's version of We Will Rock You recorded with Queen, He was the first one they offered the gig to, but he didn't want to do a gruelling tour schedule. They made a few interesting changes from the original version. ua-cam.com/video/vP6O5hCN1M8/v-deo.html
You're the voice, he's the voice, she's the voice, we're ALL the voice and John Farnham is DEFINITELY the voice!! 🤩INCREDIBLE singing, sir! And I ❤the bagpipes! 😀
Who else discovered this song from the Merlin BTS videos? Seeing Bradley and Colin sing this was awesome, this was even better. Such a powerful song, sung by a very talented man. I wish I had found this back in the early 90's it is the best power ballad I have ever heard.
The man who hated to lipsync! One of the best live voices in the world. No Britney Spears slip ups here. Don't know how his voice has fared over the years, but every live performance we saw back then was brilliant. Thank you for sharing your talent Mr Farnham. 🎼🎵🎶🎤👏❤
