I like that you put the lights farther away from the house. I am not a fan if the “clamshell” look when installed 4” away as recommended. I was wondering if moving the lights farther away would help and it looks amazing! I ordered some and they should be here in a week or so. I’m excited to get them installed!
I agree I find the Govee gingerbread looking light out light annoying I don’t know why
Great Job Brett! I didn't know Eufy began making these yet!
Thanks Reagan!
Looks cool! Thanks for the tips.
I love the idea. I just need to see some examples of lighting for Christmas.
Great video, thanks. I was stuck between these and Govee, now very clear that the Eufy are better!
Thanks Brett!
I have had these lights since they became available and had some time to mess with them. I bought 2 kits and noticed that you can not link 2 sets in the app... so that means that you can not share custom scenes or have them run together and have the same effect. You have to make 2 different scenes (one for each string) and that is a pain... This is disappointing... I have contacted Eufy (Anker) and they are aware of the issue and said they will be putting out a firmware upgrade to make everything sync together (so they say).
I am also not sure what (light show Mode) dose... I see that it should link them together as the bluetooth symbol is on when I turn that mode on...
Another issue that I am having is that when the programed Scenes end and I want nothing on, it runs a random pattern... I just created a custom scene with only one light on, and run that from sunrise to sunset... Eufy said that I had "Smart Gradient" turned on... Not sure what that is, or does... but, I have yet to try to run my schedule with it turned off.
The Ability for it to run scenes based off camera motion is a cool feature... but I dont think its enough at this point for anyone switch from GoVee... Eufys app is not even close to Govee and their ecosystem when it comes to customization... and the "magic dice" seems to be like 6 patterns with different colors... The AI always wants me to give them more info... even when I type exactly what their suggestions are... If you are going to go against someone that has been doing this for years... you better have a system worth switching too.
With GoVee you can layer (Like Photoshop) different colors and patterns for truly endless possibilities... With Eufy you can not... I did let them know this as well, and they gave me the corporate response that they are always evolving and looking into how to better their product. Honestly, I don't see them making all these changes unless they can come out with more lighting products to rival Govee.
Great Video Brett... I was hoping you would do one on these lights.
Hi, really appreciate your efforts to show start to finish in detail. Question: Can you simply keep extending the light connections beyond the 100 feet and what might be the limit ?
Eufy says 100 ft is the limit. You would need another set to go longer.
You're going to need to get a waterproof box and put the power adapter in it. Its not made for any kind of moisture. Just fair warning. Great install besides that.
สวยงามมาก ✌️👍
Great video, one suggestion is to move the lights closer to the wall so they light up the wall more ( the lights over the garage show up better when the lights are alternating than other sections of the house)
Great tip. My goal was to see how well they hide when put close to the end and I think the mission was accomplished. Putting them up against the wall would have worked in some areas but then you lose that classic look. I might have to try it out with the last strand I have.
Great video, great product, but when I see the thumbnail say “DIY” I wasn’t expecting an off the shelf product you were installing. That’s like saying “DIY oil change” then going to Valvoline to have it done. 😂
Well I did drive myself to Valvoline... Lol. Good point, but compared to professional light install this was certainly more DIY. Check out The Hookup for all your DIY lighting needs.
Is there an extension cable online for those lights it only includes one and i need more for my setup?
They don't have one separate for purchase. If you reach out to them I have heard they might be able to provide an extra.
According to eufy rep, only one extension per 100ft.
you can cut the strings just voids the warranty and you have to be smart and make sure you wire it correctly. You need to protect the power adapter its not waterproof like Govees is.
Brett, how many text messages from your parents have you gotten for turning them on or off or for changing the scheme - of course the likelihood is that they will never text you about it as it is more important to you then to them.... But that's okay too. I think this is a great addition to your parents' house and fits right in there with projects for their house versus yours.
Please feel free to come to Ontario, NY and help me get all of my smart home stuff done that I have not had time to finish! It will be great content for your Channel!
They actually only have once. The schedule I created was reset somehow but it is working now.
That is a fun idea as soon as I get all my projects finished. Lol
Do you no if they will be coming out with a black variant?
I haven't seen anything yet on that. I think Govee is the only one that has that.
'For the last time'he said.. lol. These are probably a gateway drug into adding more and more stuff to your setup. They look awesome though!
🤫
Any suggestions on how to extend these beyond 100ft using 2 kits?
2 kits is really the best option for these right now.
@@TechWithBrett any suggestions on how to connect them together?
Does it support Amazon Alexa?
From what I saw, it does not. It needs to be turned on from the app or with a schedule.
how did you plug them in since the plug is not waterproof?
The recommendation is to use a waterproof box for the power supply. If you reach out to support they can provide one for you.
Brett I just purchase the 100 ft. I need 50 ft more. Can't find them anywhere.
When it was introduced to me they gave me the option to get 50 or 100 ft but it looks like they ended up only reducing the 100ft. model. I'll see if they have plans to still release the 50 ft. Sorry about the confusion.
Thank you sir.
Ok, it sounds like they won't be releasing the 50ft version till sometime next year.
Please! Automatic Hungarian language! You have very very perfect and good videos, I am not perfect in English. Thank you for videos , Greetings from Hungary you and your family!
Helló! Thanks for watching. I'll see what I can do to add them.
Running wire through the gutter ?
How much
You can check the current pricing here (affiliate): geni.us/f4sAd
$300 for 100ft 😂 gtfo, with the current administration's inflation and the stock market tanking , these prices are nuts.
@@shanew7361 don't watch my other video if you think that is outrageous.
@@TechWithBrett Next 5 days it's 100 dollars off. 200 Bucks is good for me!
And the install looks terrible I don’t like the exposed wires - the track lights are so much nicer
But the way you have them away from house has a nice look
It is actually surprising how you don't really even notice these during the day which I thought they would stand out way more. Putting them closer to the wall does make them stand out a bit more.
I think you put the lights too far from the house, it'd have a better effect if you were about 3 inches from the house.
I debated about that but I felt like they would then sort of look funny and be very noticeable. It does add for a really cool effect when it is close like you see over the garage.
I agree with Brett, I’m about to install some and will do it farther away like yours. Looks a lot cleaner.
Can’t you just wait for Halloween Jesus Christ
While I mentioned Christmas, now would be a great time to put up lights before the snow hits and you have time to enjoy the lights for other holidays.
@@TechWithBrett Do you hate Halloween? I’m just asking.
Clearly I don't. Not sure where you are getting that, the lights in the photo of this video are Halloween colored and I clearly said Halloween more than Christmas. I just don't think many people put up "Halloween Lights" so I didn't use that for the title.

how long does it take to receive the product after you purchase it online?
Garbage product from a garbage company. Not to mention, the $300 + tax 😂 power adapter and the controller aren't waterproof either.
why so salty?
