my ableton crackles and almost comes to a stop. CPU overload. DO you have those crackles in ableton? How have your clients set up zoom? Whats the best samplerate for it to work? 44 or 48. could that be the cpu overload problem?
Hey Alan, try switching Ableton's playback Driver Type to MME/Direct X then switch Audio Output Device to Voicemeeter Input (VB-Audio Voicemeeter VAIO) DX. It's higher latency than ASIO but less prone to crackles with some configurations.
@@adamfangsrud634 What about the input device? Should I set it to my focusrite interface or also voicemeeter? Also, my main hardware input (on voicemeeter) shows up as mono. How can I fix that? Thank you for this video! I haven't been able to figure it out for way too long. Now I see the light at the end of the tunnel :)
Very clear, practical and seemingly comprehensive instructions clearly delivered in a no nonsense-"just the facts, Mam"--style. If only ALL you tubers could follow your lead. Thank you!
Hell yeah! Thumbs up on this video my bro! Worked like a charm. Settings look slightly different in 2023, but still works perfick for piping ableton audio thru zoom.
This is awesome. Thank you so much! I am a beginner and I appreciate the breakdown and the funny comments didn't make it totally suck to watch. SUBSCRIBED
Of note - you don't need to hear your voice looped back. In Voicemeeter uncheck output "A", that's what dumps back to hardware out. You need Out A for virtual out to hear, but not for the hardware in. BTW nice comedy about the beat and TNG is my fave show of all time. I'm an educator as well, invented the APC40 back in the day. I just have my students use the free SonoBus. They drop it as a plugin on their master and stream uncompressed PCM
I've was unable to run this setup successfullly on my Windows computer using my Focusrite Scartett Solo 3rd gen sound card (heavy distortion). I did some research and found that others had similar problems with Focusrite interfaces. I purchased an Audiobox Go and no more distortion. All this to say, make sure that the audio interface you're using is compatible with Voicemeeter.
Great video! I use the same setup and the person on the other side tells me that they hear "doubling" on their side. Have you ever experienced that? If so, what would cause that? Thanks! 😊
Great video thanks. Crisp, clear and to the point. I'm using this very helpful info to get audio from the music notation software Dorico (by Steinberg) to OBS using Voicemeeter so that I can video record the playback with the sheet music scrolling on screen and all good so far. Keep up the great work !
I've been trying to get this working for a year now. The latest way ive seen is to use OBS, REASTREAM plugin from Reaper and voicemeter. The closest I got was a crackling sound which I believe is caused by my focusrite 3rd gen. I'm on PC using studio one. Might go back to my presonus audio box 96.
Hey Adam, thanks for the video. Here's the problem I'm having: I tried Omegle (browser-based video chat) and people can hear my Ableton music just fine. Everything works properly while I'm creating midi tracks. But when I make an audio track and try to record something into my microphone, Ableton records my microphone audio AS WELL AS all the other audio that's playing (in this case midi.) So I end up with an audio clip that has just re-recorded absolutely everything, rather than only the mic audio. 😔 My microphone is plugged into an audio interface, and I'm using headphones, not speakers. Everything is set up the way you suggested. (Something that may or may not help to diagnose the problem: when I turn off bus B in Voicemeeter's Virtual Input, at that point it does record only the mic, but then people don't receive ANY of my Ableton sound, only the mic.)
Nice tutorial, clear and explanatory. How can I arm/record Ableton track for guitar playing at same time if I've changed audio device to VM? Ableton can't pick up my normal device inputs anymore. Seems like you can either have setup for sharing audio with zoom without laying down tracks, or you can lay down tracks and not send audio to zoom. You're mic channel strip is outside of VM and Ableton. Does that require 2 audio drivers?
Stereo/mono question - when I put Voicemeeter in, and configured it all as you've shown, my mic is mono. I have to put Voicemeeter into mono mode to get both channels to come through into my headphones. What am I missing?
Help! This method worked, but I get a very loud feedback loop/ringing whenever I arm a track in Ableton, even when wearing headphones and a mic. Any ideas? I'm using a Focusrite Solo.
Tnx, hope this helps me . I read somewhere else that you can have your mic as an input in ableton with record enabled, and in that way mix in your voice with what ever you wanna play in ableton. Balance the levels, wich i think can also be done in the software you use. Maybe there is no delay that way, i dunno. Gonna try it out.
Did you get this to work? I'm trying to do same along with recording guitar but can't get Ableton inputs to work after setting the audio device to voicemeeter... it either can have asio device to get inputs to work or it can be set to voicemeeter to get the outputs to route, but can't figure out a way to do both 😤
Hello, there is someone that can tell me why i am getting always a mono signal from Zoom? I cannot get the menu under orinal sound off with all the inputs.
Splitting channels A B not work and sound goes on every output. Any alternatives? I just wanna send audio from browser to ableton without changing windows settings.
Is it possible to avoid using the microphone input as the source of everything? I'd like to keep the mic separate from the system and DAW audio so that in discord group calls, only when watching the stream they will hear my system sound.
Hello, I have the exact hardware configuration as you were using in the tutorials but I can't get my VST (from Ableton) to go to A1 / B Voicemeeter outputs. When I play the VST, Ableton live 11 as well as the "virtual input" of voicemeeter do light up but I can't hear it and also Zoom does not get it. Thanks in advance for your support
You know you don't have to send your microphone audio to your headphones? You can click off the A button on the hardware input so it doesn't send to the main out.

thank you, i tried so many ways to do this, subscribed and liked
Loved this, thanks Adam! Very good tutorial!
Thanks a lot for the video! Apparently, the free Zoom account does not have audio settings that can be adjusted.
Was super helpful! Thank you so much 🙏

It worked, great guide! There is a slight distortion in the sounds coming from the DAW (maybe an echo), is this inevitable?

I do not use headphones, is there a way to stop the microphone audio coming out of my speakers but still be audible to those I share with?
