Problem with shows like Live Aid is it's probably Lionel Ritchie's sound engineer mixing the Beach Boys and Led Zeppelin 😂 It was just one guy for the entire show. All the bands shared microphones as well. So a lot of bands would have got a raw deal. I know the Led Zeppelin broadcast was a disaster. In the UK, a couple of bands actually raided the sound engineering booth directly before their slot, to insist on a certain mix
My older brother bought home a beach boys album called little dusce coupe , it couldn't have been any more appropriate , born and raised in SYDNEY we lived close to the beaches that was my life then the souped up cars oh yeah what a living dream .
Been there. Naturally, with a sunflower on 2 remind that there`ve been the LP, the Berlin Loveparade B4. Greatest event in rockhistory. As a teenager I hung in front of the family TV set 2 watch all the rockstars performing. THX a lot, Sir Bob!
I can't help but feel the void left by Dennis' death here, especially when they got around to "Help Me Rhonda", as he would almost always come to the front of the stage and jump on the piano, stealing the show in his own inimitable way.
@@bennuballbags2 I'm guessing you're joking, but in case you're not... you might not have heard any of the other voices, or Mike's for that matter. Literally anyone else has (or had) a more "rock" voice with more depth than he has ever had. But of course, you may think his voice was cool, that's your opinion. As I said, he's done some great low end harmonies, but he's more of a backing vocalist than he is a lead vocalist to me.
@@raywt3237 If you watch the performance and listen to the audio Brian clearly sings lead on Wouldn't It Be Nice. EDIT: In fact Brian specifically rejoined the live line up for Live Aid as despite them having a new album out he'd chosen to sit out their annual Fourth of July concerts that year. Would have been odd for him to do that specifically for arguably the biggest concert ever and then just stand there.
I saw The Beach Boys live at another concert. For whatever reason, Help Me Rhonda is the best song live. Maybe it’s the band, or the audience participation, or both. But it doesn’t translate near as well on video.
Why the official Live Aid channel will not have uploaded this part of the concert? when you go to the channel there are only Wouldn't It Be Nice, Good Vibrations and Surfin' USA, a shame that these other masterpieces are not officially on the Live Aid channel

@@margaretmaskara9002 no. Carl's voice on Kokomo is awful. He sounds like Kermit the frog, whereas Brian's voice on She Says that She Needs Me in 1998 is angelic
Rest In Peace Carl Wilson, Billy Hinsche, and Jeffrey Foskett, you all are missed.
The guy running mixing desk had the right level for Mike Love for the first 15 seconds.
Shame he sorted it 🤪

😂
dennis wilson sadly never saw this day drowned in 1983
It's sad he wasn't there and I wish was at this awesome show.
So glad I was born in this decade and I love The Beach Boys. Live Aid the best
Can we appreciate how amazing Carl is in the suit! The suit doesnt make the man of course, but WOOOWW!! Carl Wilson looks soooo gooooddd!!!
Absolute legend
yeah Carl knew how rock a suit (and beard)! he was also in good shape during this time.

Al Jardine. Class act.
Help Me Rhonda, possibly one of the best Beach Boys songs, if not the #1!
Great band, great songs, great 80's !
But these songs was actually made in the 60's.😂
A shame with the sound in the beginning, but picked up and a brilliant performance was given. I love the Beach Boys...always will.
Al is so great!
The best

I saw them in Charlotte North Carolina USA in 1986 and they were great.
Love my Beach Boys yet again

I didn't know Al Jardine was lead on Help Me Rhonda.
Should've been lead on a lot of songs instead of Mike Love. Good for the lower vocal parts, but for the rest I'm not much of a fan of Mike.
@@DeVermeuln Mike had the cool voice which was a lot more rock than the rest, he was awesome especially in songs such as Do it again and Surf safari

Yip but Mike Love was the voice of the Beach Boys
No Mike no Beach Boys
@@michaelgreco8320 No Brian no Beach Boys
Never realised it before but during the course of the set Mike, Al, Brian and Carl all get a lead vocal each. Thanks for uploading this.
Which song does Brian lead? Also is he singing falsetto at live aid or is Bruce Johnson doing it here?
Charles Daunt he’s singing wouldn’t it be nice
Watching Brian's mouth and some of the camera visuals, I'd be surprised if Brian's mic is even on

I'd assume they uploaded what´s on the official DVD. I own the full box set and it includes exactly the same songs as in here.

understandable
It will be some copy rite law possibly another rec company has the rights to some songs and not others .
