Hi all Just to add that the hot water came back on in about 20mins of the heater being on. Also if you’re interested in following live constant updates on our calving season be sure to check out our Facebook and instagram stories ( link to them in all our video descriptions) Today’s a busy one as our first heifer is calving as we speak. Check it out 👍
I have watched several of your videos in the past few days. I just love your sense of humor and positivity. You're breath of fresh air to this old woman. One thing I have to say is you have one of the cleanest, more organized farms I've seen in a long time. I find your maintenance and fabrication videos interesting. I even learned a few things.
Couple of wee curveballs there from Mother Nature Adrian, all resolved with a smile on the coupon, well on camera at least and a good result on the pump and the space heater ☯️ 👍🏻
Congratulations on your new calves and success in repairs. You meet seasonal challenges with a great attitude. Always positive and a very good cow daddy. 😀
Hi Adrian here is a simple solution to cutting the noise on your exhaust. Back story I was on exercise with the army in Germany back in the 70s during the night we moved to a new location. It was a foggy night and visibility was down to a few yards. On the instruction of a young inexperience officer I was ordered to set up our detachment in a "field". I got to work and started the small generator we had for charging batteries, it was a noisy little thing enough to wake the dead. Anyway after a short while this German appeared out of nowhere complaining about the noise. Quick thinking I buried the silencer in the ground which cut the noise by at least 50%. The German was happy and disappeared returning a few moment's later with six bottles of bier. Next day was a bright clear day and to our amazement we were slap dang in the German Farmers Garden. We were preparing to cook a compo ration lunch. Irish Stew and potatoes as it happened when the farmer reappeared with a table, chairs and an umbrella. Followed shortly by his wife who set the table with a delicious lunch of cold meats, cheeses. bread and wine. As they thanked us over and over for fixing noise so they could have a restful sleep 😜wink, wink. So my tip is if you can find a way to build a box round that silencer, fill it with soil preferably clay the the noise will be greatly reduced and the family can have a lay in whist you milk the cows. Maybe, just maybe the farmer's wife will treat you to with a delicious lunch of cold meats, cheese bread and wine. Prost.
Your busy anyway, you don't need the weather to freeze over as well. Glad you managed to sort the pump issue out, especially without having to spend a small fortune. Whats not to like, new life coming into the world. 👍
Love your videos. It never gets boring at your farm, you are you usually tinkering with something. .These are the videos that remind me that milking cows in Wisconsin, USA was not fun in the winter. Why on earth do you place your milking units on the floor? That is totally a way to invite bacteria in your system. We cannot do that and expect to ship milk. The inspector catches it and you are shut off immediately and the milk gets dumped. I have to admit i was surprised you don't heat everything with built in heaters. You must not get very many days of freezing temperatures.
Hi adrain bit of nightmare them kind of mornings just a wee tip my neighbour run a space heater in the parlour overnight to stop things freezing worked a treat.
An Idea for you Adrian; put a timer plug or a hive plug on that space heater to turn it on in the parlour an hour before you are due to start milking to thaw everything out.
Space heater will smoke a fair bit as you had the top off so that means it cannot get the air through put to burn the diesel cleanly. Glad you got it all sorted.
Hi Adrian, we always put through a cold rins with salt after the wash has gone through on those freezing nights and have the space heaters going. Works really well. Cheers from Co. Meath
Cracking vid sir.. mind and wrap that exhaust with exhaust wrap tape.. drops noise yo 20 ish percent itself and easy to do.. 😮😊. And for your heater theres a fuel screw on the rear side intake that adjustable .. screw it so the flame is not coming out past the end plate as this would prolong its service life it will also make it run a bit quieter to.. stay safe 🏴
Nice to see the calfs coming along, the frost was bad but the wind is my hate, 2 roofs off luckily not stocked, great video as usual Adrian trust all the family are well we have not heard much about them recently, good luck to you and you squad
Yes get space heater working. Those tube type are great for heating a large area like your milking parlor, to get things running. I have used a small one under my house to thaw out the plumbing.
Cows and calves look great, great condition!! Glad the issues with the milking machine were fairly easy fixes. And that is one fancy umbrella in the milk tank room 😉😉.
Hi Adrian To stop your tractor and other door sticking in the cold, give the seals a spray with Silicone lubricant. It will drive the moistures away and not damage the rubber seals like an oil based lubricant will. Another benefit is that dirt won't stick to the seals either. A can of lubricant is only a few euros and much cheaper than having to replace a torn seal. Loving your videos - Kept up the good work
Adrian, we added a couple of those chinese diesel heaters to our parlour to get some quick heat in. Just click a button on the remote and it fires up. Well worth the money and cheap to run!
I thought 2023 was rough, but 24 isn’t much better so far. We’ve had similar weather. Colder perhaps. But wet and icy with similar parlor issues. We have a slightly small Deleval pump than that. It doesn’t have a buffer tank either. I think having a tank can buy you a bit more time when you’re putting on and taking off clusters. We have a two cluster portable milker with a buffer tank and it works so much better than the fixed Deleval. But it’s useless in the winter. Any day close to zero and it stops functioning.
Absolutely love your videos Adrian, very real and your attitude to every day life on a farm is very positive. I hope the calving season goes well for you and that you won’t have anymore mechanical problems to sort out! 🐄👍😎
Another quality video! We finally warmed up here in north Florida, after a week of freezing temperatures. Always good to see new additions to your herd. Take care and stay warm...
Well another entertaining and interesting video Adrian, expect Hudson was looking for his coat like the calfs have 😄 good to see the parlour is working 100%, thought for a second tractor door glass was going to break! Thinking on some of the space heaters they have a knob on the back to turn heater down, in that case, could you not use a plugin timer for the heater to turn on and off throughout the nights to help you first thing in the morning, calves are all looking well healthy and mums, anyway stay safe👍🍻
Wow, so many moving parts. You really have given me an education and for that a greater appreciation for all the beautiful dairy products I love. Thank you so much for your dedication. 🤗❤️🌈🙏🕊️
Strange the milk made it to the vaccum pump, the interceptor should stop it and also the ball in the sanitary/over flow jar should keep it out of your vaccum line🤔🤔
Hi, thanks for posting the video. Glad to see that the problems were only small ones 😉. 'Must do is a good master', as ever. While it seems like a great idea to solder wires in a screw terminal (such as a mains plug), don't! The screw comes loose...!! Afaik, the solder deforms (cold flow) under the pressure from the screw. A boot ferrule is the proper solution, if required. Hth 😮.
I run a few electric space heater in my milk house. A lot nicer than thawing things out. I always enjoy your videos, one of my favorite channels. I run a 60 cow dairy in Canada, and can relate to your size farm.
Brilliant video Adrain, no owl promoting or bs just good honest enjoyable content. You’ve a great pair of hands on you as i’m sure i said before. Hope you weren’t badly hit with the storms, it was rough here in Kerry with our neighbours losing half his slatted shed roof. Did you go to Lamma in the uk
Tipecal Adrian things breaking down especially in this weather🥶 I'm so glad you got to the bottom of the vacuum problem, and you got your wee heater up and running 👍 The calf's are wee cuties 🥰 Can't wait for the next installment 👍 Have a lovely day Adrian stay safe and warm ❤
Looks like you have had a bit of a nightmare by the preview. Hope you were able to sort out the storm damage and were able to get the parlour running ASAP 🤞
Use straight pipe exhaust bury a beer barrel and pipe in the top and out through the top it will catch excess oil and will not restrict ur pump plus silence ur machine
Adrian there is nothing better than a Chinese junction box. No disrespect but standards have certainly dropped over the past decade or so. Aussie Sparky!
Is worth running a Infrared quartz Heater in the milking parlour on the really cold nights. You can get one for under a $100 bucks and there cheap to operate.
i see you have hoof knack leg lifter. bought the same one a few years ago but had to make a few modifications, we have suckler cows so not always as co-operative a dairy ones. I put a spring on it to keep the ratchet locked as this would come off if the cows started kicking. I also had to drill the locking pin and put a clip in it to as this would also come out if the cow started kicking. other than than its a great yoke, would be worth doing a bit on the video on how and why you check the feet.
Great upload ...always love the big bottle for feeding a young calf compared with the ''eegittin'' we used to have long ago with buckets! How many milkings/ days passes before the milk is ok for processing?
Hi Adrian in relation to cell count I had a problem a few years ago with it thank god it got better I came across a company called AHV and started using there product it's works works perfectly well for me and cell count dropped a lot I now haven't used antibiotics for cell count or mastitis n 2 years only AHV worth a look at Adrian
Adrian, do you test colostrum to make sure its high in all the "goodies" a calf needs? It may look nice and yellow, creamy but could be v low in immunoglobulins.
For all your door rubbers.. done crease on them. I use some vaseline. Works and protects your door rubbers of tractor and car So they do not get frozen stuck to the door.

OK 👍
You're definitely a cavan man😊 I'll look for a new pump.... second hand of course 😂
The heaters working like the clappers 👍😁
Weather was tough the last few weeks, between that cold spell and the back to back storms it was hard going. Glad to see the back of it
The condition of that calving cow is unreal. A real credit to you
Silage is feeding well thankfully 👍
great video Adrian, your a well organized man

Hello.xx
Cut a hole in the side of a barrel, connect exhaust to where the cap goes on barrel. Homemade silencer.
Спасибо❤
Another great video Adrian 👍👍👍
Great video Adrian what great work you do on the farm
Great video Adrian good luck with the calving Great stock
Adrian your cows are in outstanding condition coming to calving an absolute credit to you
Congratulations on your new calves and success in repairs. You meet seasonal challenges with a great attitude. Always positive and a very good cow daddy. 😀
As you said before parlour is easy fixed our parlour is same as yours great calves 👏

What a great story, a joy to read your excellent writing. 👍💯
@@dianalyman5950agreed, a great read
Thanks for that, sounds an amazing story to live through
Great story
Great story
These are my favorite videos from your farm. Thank you for sharing these cattle videos.🐄
Your busy anyway, you don't need the weather to freeze over as well. Glad you managed to sort the pump issue out, especially without having to spend a small fortune. Whats not to like, new life coming into the world. 👍
You should move to the coast, you wouldn’t have any problems with frost there 😎
Fantastic video for this morning, thanks!
Great video Adrian. Busy calving & maintenance. Busy man. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼
Enjoyed the video and your explanations
Thank you Adrian for a great video.

Lovely video, was thinking about you all during the 2 storms this week, fermanagh had a good wind too.
Excellent video 👍
Another great video has always Adrian and family 👍
Adrian, thanks for another great video. I particularly appreciate the calving scenes as that really brings me back. Keep up the great work
Great video Adrian, i forgot about those frosty mornings, pips always freezing, keep at her Lad!
That frost is some pain when the milking parlour freezes
Hi adrain bit of nightmare them kind of mornings just a wee tip my neighbour run a space heater in the parlour overnight to stop things freezing worked a treat.
An Idea for you Adrian; put a timer plug or a hive plug on that space heater to turn it on in the parlour an hour before you are due to start milking to thaw everything out.
The time lapse calving was very interesting to see, especially because it wasn't problematic.
Meath
Thanks for the show Adrian 🍻 🇦🇺
Cracking vid sir.. mind and wrap that exhaust with exhaust wrap tape.. drops noise yo 20 ish percent itself and easy to do.. 😮😊. You.safe fortune doing all own repairs
Yes get space heater working. Those tube type are great for heating a large area like your milking parlor, to get things running.
I have used a small one under my house to thaw out the plumbing.
Adrian, absolutely love it and feeling the cold with you. Your parlour is so much like my dad's Clean and bright. Have a good week
Happy Sunday/Tuesday from sunny Spain, sick of 14+ degree temperatures.
Too bad.
I am sick of shoveling snow.
And what is this thing you call the sun?
I have not seen it in weeks!
Good morning boss relax you get sorted see very stress on video
Cows and calves look great, great condition!! Glad the issues with the milking machine were fairly easy fixes. And that is one fancy umbrella in the milk tank room 😉😉.
Yes I’m a big fan of paw patrol 😂😂
You could have been a little bit late with the space heater. I left mine going day and night in the milking parlour to keep it thawed, and it worked.
Hi Adrian
To stop your tractor and other door sticking in the cold, give the seals a spray with Silicone lubricant. It will drive the moistures away and not damage the rubber seals like an oil based lubricant will. Another benefit is that dirt won't stick to the seals either.
A can of lubricant is only a few euros and much cheaper than having to replace a torn seal.
Loving your videos - Kept up the good work
Yes someone just mentioned that too, i’ll do just that from now on. Thanks for the tip 👍
Also Adrian, silicon oil use it on gate valves brass rod on the slurry Tanker ,oil based products would effect the rubber seal
Cracking video as always. The cows are well used to the routine of going to the calving area. Keep up the good work Adrian
Adrian, we added a couple of those chinese diesel heaters to our parlour to get some quick heat in. Just click a button on the remote and it fires up. Well worth the money and cheap to run!
Best of luck with everything on the farm next week 👍👍👍
They are little miracles so beautiful to watch ❤
Thnks for sharing Adrian, you've had a busy few days, can't wait for the next video, hope the storms weren't too harsh
Great video Adrian you tell it so well easy to understand and great content thank you so much for sharing with us.
Happy Sunday 😁

Adrian it's not regulator it's pulsation need to be serviced at intervals

Another quality video! We finally warmed up here in north Florida, after a week of freezing temperatures. Always good to see new additions to your herd. Take care and stay warm...
Get ready for another week of cold. I'm in central Florida and they're calling for 40's through next Sunday. I hate El Nino winters.
You might want to keep the heat on to keep it from freezing
the new vacuum pumps are variable speed and oil free .
Yes, much quieter and energy efficient too i’m told
Another brilliant video
N Ice one Adrian ❄️
Great video
Well another entertaining and interesting video Adrian, expect Hudson was looking for his coat like the calfs have 😄 good to see the parlour is working 100%, thought for a second tractor door glass was going to break! Never a dull moment Adrian. Don’t you just love our winters ? We’ve had -8C so far but the rain has been the worst thing to contend with.
Perhaps you should try putting a space heater in your parlour on cold nights Adrian
Hi, thanks for posting the video. Glad to see that the problems were only small ones 😉.
'Must do is a good master', as ever.
While it seems like a great idea to solder wires in a screw terminal (such as a mains plug), don't! The screw comes loose...!!

Some set.up thire see all fresion.calfs have
It's called a 'thing-me-bob' . . . can't believe you didn't know . . ;- )
Adrian there is line ya put on water line all half do plug in keep.water.from freezing we.unse her in ny on sprinkler.lines in car parks.
I run a few electric space heater in my milk house. A lot nicer than thawing things out.
I always enjoy your videos, one of my favorite channels. I run a 60 cow dairy in Canada, and can relate to your size farm.

No was invited over and would have loved to get there but just simply don’t have the time unfortunately. Looks a great show
Glad you got the milking machine issue sorted. You have lively calves. Hope your weather improves. 👍😊👍
Great video a wealth of knowledge 👍
Tipecal Adrian things breaking down especially in this weather🥶 I'm so glad you got to the bottom of the vacuum problem, and you got your wee heater up and running 👍 The calf's are wee cuties 🥰 Can't wait for the next installment 👍
Have a lovely day Adrian stay safe and warm ❤
Looks like you have had a bit of a nightmare by the preview. Hope you were able to sort out the storm damage and were able to get the parlour running ASAP 🤞
You need too get frost protectors organised also a better cover for your powerwasher??🤔🤔🤔maybe some heat lamps wouldnt go amiss
Milking cows and no power after a storm is very stressful.
👍👍👍.
Aussie Sparky!
adrian your the mcgivyer off the farming world i c ye cavan boys paying big money for cows
Is worth running a Infrared quartz Heater in the milking parlour on the really cold nights. You can get one for under a $100 bucks and there cheap to operate.
Coos are best heating I know
How cold are your winter temps. The joys off frozen waterers.would insulation help in parlor
Why no heater in the parlor when it is bllody freezing colld?
i see you have hoof knack leg lifter. bought the same one a few years ago but had to make a few modifications, we have suckler cows so not always as co-operative a dairy ones.

Adrian how come you don't run garage blow heater in there in weather like that set at temp and leave it running bye frost
Great upload ...always love the big bottle for feeding a young calf compared with the ''eegittin'' we used to have long ago with buckets! How many milkings/ days passes before the milk is ok for processing?
Adrian do you keep the heifers and what do you do with the male calves ?
The heater burns hotter on diesel but it's dirtyer smoke put kerosene in it and it buys cleaner if Ur working near then it's a lot better.
I’ll check that out, it not a problem yet but it did creep up more than I’d like. I will definitely check that out, thanks for the tip 👍
Here in Clare we say "sick to calve" for a cow getting ready to calf. How many litres did that calf drink, by the way?
Adrian, do you test colostrum to make sure its high in all the "goodies" a calf needs? It may look nice and yellow, creamy but could be v low in immunoglobulins.
👍👍👍
They were Hardy storms
A wee tip for ya,don’t wipe your wiper on the ice it will ruin your rubber on the wiper
For all your door rubbers.. done crease on them. I use some vaseline. Works and protects your door rubbers of tractor and car
So they do not get frozen stuck to the door.
Silicon spray works well too,
Thanks for the tip, i will do just that 👌
