- How to Cook the PERFECT WHITE RICE with or without a rice cooker. I know not everyone has a rice cooker at home, and even with a rice cooker... you're probably thinking, how much water do I need to add?
For people cooking in a pot:
-water up to 3/4 of the index finger or to the knuckles
-remember the 10-5-5 rule
-it ain't no open&close rice (let the rice steam)
-10-5-5 rule is the basic (adjust the timing according to the dryness & wetness of the rice)

I happened upon this vid, and I live by it now 😅 any time that I wanna make rice, I come here. Thanks so much for this. Freshly made rice on the stove is so dam good 🤤
I tend to rinse my rice more, then let it soak in water for about 30min to an hour. I also use a little less water than the recommended water line in my rice cooker and I let it steam for a few min longer after the cooker finishes so that the rice doesnt come out wet. I also generally add a little bit of sauce or butter with the rice, so it works out perfectly. I always add seasonings and etc to my rice lol.

Love it! I hate using the stove to make rice 😂 because it always burns the bottom. But now I know how to make it right 10-5-5 I might try it next time.
YOU GOT THISSSSSS!!! Don’t have to stick to the 10-5-5 rule, always remember to check the rice to see if it is too wet or dry

Best rice video ever!!! I try to follow the rules properly, but still seem to get rice stuck to my rice cooker. What can cause this? Is my rice cooker just booty???

Whether it is a Rice Cooker or Pan, I always do the “finger” rule. (I’ve never seen the “hand”.) I was taught by my Sister-in-Laws many years ago, They are from Indonesia. Thanks Chris Cho!!!

You are great! I always brought my rice to a boil and cook on low for 20 minutes… how I was taught. But I like your 10-5-5 rule better. What about salt? I have never rinsed my rice either. I’m cooking rice your way from now on.
I never put salt in my rice but it really depends on your preference ~
Rice wine vinegar helps. Also I add a little bit of this garlic oil I have.
I really love the fact that you include the people who don’t have a rice cooker. Killing two birds with one stone kind of thing :’) very genuine. keep at it!!!

For those who dont want to pay a lot of money for a rice cooker, I bought one at walmart for literally $22 and I have been using it a lot for like a year now.
Does it matter the amount of rice you put in the pot before you add water?

Rice water just boils over almost immediatly. Rinsed 6 times until water was clear. Only way it doesnt boil over is if i have temp on low. What am i doing wrong?

After 3 minutes of the ten the water was gone and my rice stuck to the bottom of the pan on medium heat cause it was to hot. Are you sure the 10 minutes don't have the lid on?
