well i watched them all. yes a few years later as things may have changed since 2017, but you've not only described the experiences of the tests (ALSO BIG THANKS TO ALL THE OTHER COMMENTERS.. very important. Sharing the experiences and asking the questions) , but you've also SHOWN them too.
All round, it's common sense, safety and basic controls/balance. Your calm description as you go through really helps me get the feel, not just watch, for what to expect. I'll be going for my DAS later this year (fucking covid!) but i just wanted to give a thanks as i've not commented on the vids you made. THANKS :)

I had alot of fun with my instructors in the training and the tests. I felt more confident, relaxed and comfortable on the bigger bike than my own one I've had for just over 2 years.
I'm hoping to buy my first big bike on Saturday and have my licenece back for the end of the month.
Your vids helped alot but most the time people ar over thinking it and panic. I was in the wrong lane at a roundabout, I stead of diving to the exit he asked I followed it round and left at the next one, truth be told the way he wanted to take me I had very little experience with the roads there and the way we ended up going had alot of traffic and was familiar to me, ended up filtering in the test and got away with it thankfully.

That's some achievement to pass on the basis you filtered, well done! What bike you getting?
Just out of curiosity how come you decided to do it, were you in a rush or something / did the examiner actually ask you to, or did you just have massive balls and think fuck it why not 😂

@@C9S1 I'm looking at a few before buying but its between a Bandit 600/650, gsxf600, cbf600 and an er6n, might consider an mt07, but hopefully ill come away with one of them.
As for the filtering, my training instructor on the couple of lessons i had shown us how to filter correctly and where not to and said if you can filter do so to show them that you are safe when doing it and at the start he said if it is safe to do so, do it. Rather than sit in traffic for a while i decided to do so, at the end of the test he said it was a great ride and said i had shown alot of confidence, skill and ability of riding. It was to the end of the test too as we began to head back.

@@DarkDevil6906 A nice selection there, I would go with the MT07 (although I'm biased when it comes to Yamahas lol) it's a very nice bike to get you up and running to enjoy. Definitely test ride as many as you can for sure.
I'm presuming he taught you to only do so in stationary or very slow moving traffic, with plenty of space?
Interesting you say that, that's why I drill in the 'complacency' issue in all my videos as people tend to get cocky or too relaxed near the end and mess up - whereas for you I'm not sure how managed to filter with those massive balls!
I also feel that if you're on the verge of failing, i.e due to a totting up issue with stupid minors, like stopping less than 2 bikes width behind stopped vehicles, which no one does in the real world anyway - an examiner may actually choose to pass you or 'let one slide' if you show confidence and safe riding ability in difficult conditions, such as filtering (as they do have to remember them at the end of the day, unlike in the driving test - where they're marking you on the go)

@@C9S1 Well I'm hoping to test ride as many tomorrow but not sure if they'll allow it considering they need to be restriceted to a2. I know they have a mt07 that is 35kw from factory so maybe i can take that one out but the others im doubtful of, Its mainly to see how they suit me if anything.
Yeah as you said it was only in stationary traffic with very little oncoming, I did end up with 3 rider errors but they where undue hesitation at a roundabout, I was in neutral, being too fast or too slow but then adjusted it when i saw the repeater and safety distance, i wanted to make sure i was out the keep clear but there was no indication to where it ended, the car pulled away slightly but i ended up crawling the bike too close again. I thought i was a safe distance from it but then again thats down to the instructor. Apparently he's very anal about safety margins.

@@DarkDevil6906 Yeah most of them are like that - when moving I understand the importance of maintaining a 2 sec gap, but when stationary 2 bikes distance is a bit excessive, and literally no one does that IRL on the roads. Well a lot of the stuff the DVSA look for are against normal convention lol.
Yeah you might have a problem with that, but try see if they'll let you at least ride it around the dealership - permitted they have even a small amount of space or land. Or you can just go down the private seller route / autotrader - a few mins riding round some back roads will be of little risk and you'll get a good enough feel for it

I did the figure-of-eight manoeuvre last weekend and it helped when the instructor put the cones 1m apart. The reason for this was it forced me to go in at 90° to the cones so I was correctly set up for the next loop. Moving them back out I still picture the cones very close together in the middle to get my lines right.
