What Mike is describing regarding boxing up the games reminds me of the old Battletech, Traveller, CarWars and Runequest era (80s) gaming boxset. I do agree with this concept, so long PNP versions of the components and rules are still available. There was something magical about opening a box game and playing it (possibly a couple of times) and then bundling it all up back into the box for it to sleep until the next time.
@@EsotericOrderGamers Environmental reasons - no shipping and storing and such. But PnP product should be priced much the same as physical product IMO.
Fun interview - or chat! It's always great to just listen to people who's passionate about gaming, who like to make games and tinker with them. And great story about Gamma World, Peter! :D Have you posted anywhere one or more of those cards that you have redesigned? As a graphic designer myself (and mild-mannered boardgamer) I'm very curious about them! The changes you made, etc. Also very curious about Mike's book on game design!
I've posted full sets of redesigns for the units of AT-43 and Confrontation by Rackham, and there may be some included with some specific summaries (age redesigned hero cards for Earth Reborn), but on the whole I don't make them available because I only make them for the units I own. Doing full sets takes forever, living games are constantly being updated, and it would be a an insane amount of constant work. You can find all my stuff at orderofgamers.com.

Why should PnP versions be available? I'm not sure why, when he's designing, manufacturing and selling a product.

Perilous Tales is literally the only solo game with a robust enough scenario generator that I would ever consider playing it.
I'll certainly have to give it a go, though solo isn't my thing.

Great chat!
Complex and deep aren't the right words for 40k, it's just convoluted. Hard to resolve but with shallow outcomes :D
