I coached the dance team on all these routines and just retired. We dance once or twice a year with Cosmo but most of what we do is on our own. We have 19 National titles. Thanks for watching.

Considering how big it is in Utah, my bet is most of the dancers in these videos are also trained in Ballroom. If there's top American born ballroom dancer competing, chances are she's a Utah native.
Yay!!!! BYU! So excited that you reacted to this video! Pay no attention any negative comments on this thread. Our rivals are brutal, and our religion gets a lot of hate. But honestly, BYU is awesome. Also Cosmo was voted top college mascot recently!

You know, these girls are freaking awesome and that should be applauded; anything other than that is just insecurity from others. I am a recovering Catholic and religion is not my thing. That said, it’s my choice and I will forever question religion but that doesn’t give me the right to bring others down and try to manipulate my views on them. Hypocrites, I can’t stand but that’s not tied to religion... I’ve known some who are not religious and they’re hypocrites. Like I said before, these girls are freaking awesome - they’re pretty bad-ass if you ask me and they’ve earned those championships period.
Those ladies are so intense. Dancing and acrobatics all in one. Such hard work and dedication. Love your reactions! Peace.

Utah is known for producing some of the best dancers in the world, BYU and U of U has won national championships more than any other Universities in the Us, our high schools five an amazing opportunity to talented dancers and gymnasts. There’s cheer which is cheer leaders and then Dance company and or drill team which are dance oriented: these aren’t BYU cheerleaders their like a dance company for BYU, students ranging from 17-22 or so and amazing! Most end up to go onto professional dance careers or open dance studios , become coaches etc, most are full ride scholarship students as well. My ex was a 4’-11” 95 lb blonde cougarette , spunky , ex gymnast and epic dancer; they are SO beyond talented!! Amazing girls with amazing living personalities. Proud their from my state!

Different schools call their dance teams by different names.
My high school had cheerleaders, but the girls on the field with the band at halftime, we were the Drill Team. We did dance routines, pom pons, flags, batons, hoop batons, streamers, ring streamers, & other handmade props.
Brigham Young University is a private Mormon school in Utah.
Mormons may get a lot of flak for their religion, but the school is a very prestigious Ivy League-level University.
Except that they teach fantasy

Ivy League-level? Don't think so. It's #77 on the NWR national university rankings. BYU's peers are Baylor, Indiana, Gonzaga, American University, and Virginia Tech and not Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, Penn, and Stanford. Hell BYU is not even close to being on par with some of the bigger public universities like UCLA, Ohio State, UConn, Florida, Penn State, Michigan, UNC, and Texas.
Alex Rodriguez silly comment. Best on what ranking and what major? Are we going simply on earning? I earn more than the mid career pay median of an college in the country and I didn’t go to college. So wouldn’t the major play a roll? The Marriott School of Business is a premier program. A quick look at the idiocy going on at schools like Yale right now kind of makes me question the quality of staff and students there.

They're cheerleaders, but at that level, they have to be experienced in gymnastics + dance, AKA drill squad.
I don't watch football so I didn't know if they were cheerleaders or dances. I guess because it's such a religious school they get to wear pants and long sleeves. It's nice that they can look pretty but also appropriate for the weather during football season.
It's a dance team, not cheerleaders. That college's Dance team has won 19 national titles

Courtney they’re the hip hop dance team from Brigham young university which is a Mormon school located in Provo Utah ( they were performing for an American college football halftime show ) their mascot is a cougar
The Cougarettes are the dance team. They are on the sidelines cheering/dancing as well. Someone commented about them wearing pants, that's just for the timeout dance like this. There are also traditional cheerleaders. Our seats are in the opposite end zone than the students so we watch the dance on the big screen. It is still great. The Cougarettes were 17 time champions in one of the videos you watched, but I think they have won again since then. Cosmo the Cougar is great. The one in the videos was there for 3 years.We only know that because he revealed his secret after he graduated. There are some great videos on UA-cam of Cosmo and and different challenges and stunts that he does at football, basketball and other sporting events. He attends almost all types of sports.
I would totally throw my back out if I tried any of these moves. I am impressed.

Alma mater represent! The Cougarettes are top tier dancers. Even on just a casual watch they are remarkably in time with each other... and clearly even practice moving relatively the same amount as well as in time. Everything just matches and is so fluid. BYU football is a lot of fun. And you'd be hard pressed to find a stadium with a more beautiful view. From the west south, west, and north stands you see rhe Wasatch mountains, the stadium sits literally 2 minutes from them. Sun setting on them.. it is striking. Used to work Event Staff for the games down on the field my freshman year. Was a blast.
I'm from there. The Cougarettes are really the only thing that town is known for. Besides Sundance. The Wasatch mountains are gorgeous though. They are a dance team separate from the cheerleaders. They usually dance in front of the ROC (student section of the stadium) BYU is a private, religious university. Strict standards but one of the best colleges in the country to get a degree. It's very "peppy". A lot of rich kids and "pretty boys" go to that school. I'm neither so I joined the US Army and left town haha. Watching videos like this though make me miss home.
Danny Heber not a lot of rich kids. In reality BYU cost less than a lot of state colleges. You have to have incredible grades and SAT scores to be admitted.

You then need to see the national drum and Bugle Contest. They are held in August in Indiana.

People from all over the world came to Detroit to pay respects & there was over a block long line for the whole time 9 am to like 8 pm. In the hockey world he was king & like a god to so many. Played in the NHL from the 1940's to the 1980's 5 decades.
The Cougarettes won the national hip-hop championship and national jazz championship in 2019. They've won 19 national championships since 1997. They dominate hip hop dance competition which is funny since hip hop is traditionally a Black genre and the BYU team is overwhelmingly White. Their costumes are also not revealing unlike many of their competitors. You'd think those 2 facts would be a disadvantage, but they are so good. BYU is my alma mater. The Cougarettes are a national champion dance squad (multiple times), and Cosmo is always awesome. The identity of Cosmo is always kept secret. Sometimes it is a young lady and sometimes a young man. Either way, Cosmo is always super entertaining.

I really enjoyed that Miss Courtney. I dated and hung out with a lot of cheerleaders and girls on the dance squad back in the day. I even did a little theater and choreography in college, enough to know how much those girls (and the cougar) practice. They were nearly perfect. Very, very impressive and an absolute blast to watch.

Totally agree about checking out the Jeff Davis Marching band! They are still in high school! You will enjoy. You also mentioned baseball. Yeah baseball games are REALLY entertaining. We had a local team here in the minor semipro leagues. I’m from Texas so the people are super chill and really felt like being around family. You could do your own thing, people didn’t care. 🥳 At the stadium they had giveaways like if you had the filthiest car in the parking lot, then you won a ticket for a free car wash. They would announce stuff over the loudspeaker like if it was someones birthday or even if you got a promotion at work - “Dave made regional manager with A&A insurance adjusters. Good on ya Dave!” Just ask em and they’d announce it.
They had mascot races, the t-shirt cannon. Throughout the game they have entertainers hanging out with crowd in the stands. Clowns would come by and make balloon animals for the kids or paint their face. Or a magician would come by and do card tricks and stuff. One time they had two impersonators dressed as the Blues Brothers. They looked, acted, and even sang just like Jake and Elwood! Got the crowd to sing along with them. It was so buddy! It was great time.

If you think the non- game entertainment was fun at that Dodgers game, then next time in the US go to a minor league baseball game. There all over the place. Hundreds of teams. I suggest a Triple A level game but it’s not absolutely necessary.
Because the big name, high talent players are not in the minors, they have to give the fans more family fun for the money. So between every inning there’ll be some sort of games, contests or music often getting the kids in the stands involved. It’s just a lot of fun.
Also, ticket prices are about 10% of what they are in MLB. And everything is more reasonable including food, beverages, parking, souvenirs; you name it.

FYI Courtney, BYU stands for Brigham Young University. Brigham Young was the founder of the Mormon religion. The University is in Salt Lake City, HQ of the Mormon church and the University is a Mormon school. That's why you don't see the girls wearing typical cheerleader outfits.
operator0 actually the cheerleaders at BYU do wear typical cheerleader outfits. The Cougarettes is the dance team, not the cheer team. They are wearing warm ups for their hip hop dances. They have other costumes that they wear for other styles of dance. BYU is located in Provo (not Salt Lake City).
Also, Brigham Young isn't the "founder" if our religion, he was a prophet but wasn't even the first one.... It was named after him because he was one of our prophets.

The stadium got up to 142.2 decibels which is as loud as a jet engine and close to a shotgun blast to your ears. Literally deafening
