The first real blue eyed soul group. You're one of the only people that react to this great band. Listen to "How Can I Be Sure", "Lonely Too Long (my favorite)", and "A Girl Like You"
One of my favorite groups late 60s. Felix Cavaliere is a great singer. Many great songs. Good Lovin, People gotta be Free, A Girl like You.Lonely too Long. A Girl like You was sung by Eddy Brigatti, very good singer. Felix sung most. Inducted in Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Great great songs. Hope u do react to an album.
Loved the Rascals. They had some great hits in the 60s. Loved Groovin’ and People Just Got To Be Free. Wonderful instrumentation and vocals. They started as the Young Rascals and then dropped Young. Fantastic group. Takes me back to free and easy days. 🥰
You are exactly right about the percussion on the rascals music. Let's not forget the vocal harmonies and the horn section which also adds so much to their music.
delighted you took this and liked it. One of my favorite groups. Their LP Groovin is a good one, I especially like their Once Upon a Dream album and Freedom Suite definitely deserves attention too! Felix Cavaliere and Eddie Brigati composed most of their songs, but Gene Cornish also had his own pieces. Dino Danelli has a drum solo on Freedom Suite. Great band, very talented, great voices.
The lead vocals are by Felix Cavaliere, also known as the soulful Sicilian. The group was blessed with 2 great vocalists. Eddie Brigati was the other. You can hear his voice in another one of their songs, How Can I Be Sure. And yes, their songs did crossover into the Black charts.
You provided all great accurate information thxs save me from typing. Ahahaha. Their in Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and sure deserve to be. Felix is still performing, always dug his voice and Eddy's also. Was in Joey Dee and the Starlighters.
Love The (Young) Rascals!! My favorite song of theirs is How Can I Be Sure. Groovin' was probably their biggest hit. Can't go wrong with any of their songs!!
1968 was such a great year for hit songs. Here are just a few among many: “Do You Know the Way to San Jose” by Dionne Warwick, “Mrs. Robinson” by Simon & Garfunkel, “MacArthur Park” by Richard Harris, “The Mighty Quinn” by Manfred Mann, “Stone Soul Picnic” by The Fifth Dimension, and “Angel of the Morning” by Merrilee Rush. What memories!
This was on the "jukebox" in The Student Union that we played constantly along with "Groovin', and "How Can I Be Sure" ! Thanks imadrummin and Harri as always. This song is so full of happy things !😊🤙✌🌼🐦
Another one of the great 60's groups I grew up with. They started out as "The Young Rascals" but later were just known as "The Rascals". They were considered rock & blue-eyed soul. They had a lot of hits such as "I Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore", "You Better Run", "I've Been Lonely Too Long", "Good Lovin'", "Groovin'", "People Got To Be Free", "A Girl Like You", "It's Wonderful" .
They originally called themselves The Young Rascals I love their song Good Lovin and People got to be Free also react to Black and White by Three Dog Night
Singer "Felix Cavaleri" was the guy that made this Band. He also played keyboards as well. One of the most popular "Classic Rock" Bands of the 60s. "Good Lovin," "Govin," "How can I be sure." So many hit songs. Great Band.
Here are the names of some more soulful Rascals songs you would enjoy.. Lonely Too Long. How Can I Be Sure, Ray Of Hope, People Got To Be Free and It's Wonderful to name a few.
Rascals are my fav band. Vocalists Felix & Eddie have this soulful groove goin' on. I luv all of their songs. Their most soulful sound is on a little known cover they did on " Temptations 'Bout to Get Me". Felix & Eddie will blow y'all away. And thank U, Harri, for Ur review on this classic!
The only guy who reacts to the rascals a great band from New Jersey , my home state . You need to hear A Girl Like You my favorite Rascal number . Fun fact , the rascals were the first American band to not play in front of a segregated audience in the south . Get yourself a copy of Time peace , the Rascals greatest hits ..en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Peace:_The_Rascals%27_Greatest_Hits
Imadrummin you sure picked a classic. 👍👍🔥 Great pick as usual. Thanks Harri, Another fantastic reaction. Back in the old days they were known as the Young Rascals. Later on the had to drop the Young. ☹️ 👍🙃🔥🇨🇦🇺🇦🇺🇸🤴🇬🇧
Imadrummin, I swear you reach into my brain every time and grab my musical memories. This is another example! Perfect example of the soundtrack of my youth. Thanks so much🌺😢
Omg. Imadrummin. This is my go to happy place song. Love The Rascals. This and Groovin' are my favourites. 2/2 tonight. Great summer tunes. Harri I know you love this song.☺️ Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
This song should be pre-programmed into every alarm clock & smart device. It makes one WANT to get out of bed! A couple of their songs you may want to check out, sir, if you haven't already: "How Can I Be Sure?", for a truly soulful experience; & "In The Midnight Hour", if you're looking for an authentic Motown sound. Thanks for a real "eye-opener", sir!
I'm overwhelmed with the total amount of music I had to listen to while I was growing up! "It's A Beautiful Morning" is one of ALL the wonderful late 1960's music. Another singer I thought was black is from the O'Kaysions song "I'm A Girl Watcher".
I remember when I first heard this song when I was younger. I RAN to the store to buy the 45 single. And you’re right, Felix had a unique voice with incredible power and emotion. Go down the rabbit hole with this group, you will not be disappointed.
Used ,to See these Guys all over 'N.Y.' back when. "Live " .they were incredible, unmatched.Just incredible Musicians. Met them .. The, way the Drums were in and out of this Song is pure articulaton. Period.
The best Rascals track - so joyful - and not over produced or over instrumented - and it ebbs and flows nicely throughout. Like "Groovin'" it runs at an easy pace and relaxes rather than excites. That's okay with me!
Each time I hear this, it reminds of a day my dad and I were fishing the barge canal outside of Utica, NY. Any time we went fishing, we'd have a transister radio. And this song came on while we were fishing. And, it was indeed a beautiful morning.
Several years ago Felix Cavaliere joined with Stax Records' guitarist Steve Cropper, who played with Booker T and the MGs and was the Stax studio guitarist on tons of records. That album is "Nudge It Up a Notch" released in 2008. Worth a listen!
Songs like this kept me smiling as a little kid in the early 60s when divorce was rare and shameful, which I couldn’t understand. The 59th St. song by Simon and Garfunkel, not to mention Windy by The Association, kept me just happy enough.
Groovin' is a great album
The first real blue eyed soul group. You're one of the only people that react to this great band. Listen to "How Can I Be Sure", "Lonely Too Long (my favorite)", and "A Girl Like You"
Never tire of this old classic! Way to go, Imadrummin', thanks for the blast from the past!!
Thanks CK!!! 👍
You do the best job of tasting all the cool tones. Young Rascals, a great R&B group.
Great song, being out in the sun is my joy

And something completely different By the Rascals. Good Lovin'
Harri, if you would like to check out a great one hit wonder you might check out "wildflower" by a group called "skylark.Came out @1973

HIGH Harri..... Great tunes from a very unique group. "How Can I Be Sure" - "A Girl Like You' are my favorites. Have a Glorious Successful Day
You are correct! The drummer just passed away. He was a friend.
Birds are singing, now feelin'good, moment has passed like I knew that it should: GH
Blue eyed soul
Harri, I just tapped into you. You are marvelous. I love your enthusiasm for a great sound.
Philly R&B radio station played Groovin. It was a popular song in the black communities.
They were on Atlantic Records which had a great roster of Soul and R&B artists before there was Motown Records
Please review How Can I Be Sure. It is a great song.
Same band who you reacted to doing Groovin
Stop calling them Blue Eyed Soul
Felix Cavaliere did not like that said about them. He said that in an interview.

Aren't all Sicilians soulful?Answer yes
@@sharontesta6566 - Could you POSSIBLY have Sicilian ancestry? 😂

What I don't understand is why the Rascals have not been reacted to more. Thanks!!
I've always loved this song. His voice just takes me away 🥰

Pure joy on a hot, gloomy day in America! Thank you brother Harri, you get the best suggestions and your reactions are consistently excellent! 🥰💯👍🏾
"Diamonds in my ears" I once hear a wise man say.
They did some Stax and Motown covers on their albums and live.

Plenty of great songs by The Rascals. They brought such a good vibe. Loved your reaction Sir Harri. ✌️❤️😀
Great song Harri. You have to do Good Lovin next
How Can I Be Sure is the one you are looking for….not as well known, but fire!
They originally called themselves The Young Rascals I love their song Good Lovin and People got to be Free also react to Black and White by Three Dog Night
the drummer is fun to watch on good love
Your next Rascals song should be ,"A Girl Like You", a great song that sounds like Steely Dan might have written it.
A feel good song …especially on a beautiful morning.
Love them!!! So many hits to enjoy. My other fave is "How Can I Be Sure".
Absolutely one of my favorites ❤️ I listen to it often. Thank you. 😊❣️
Finally, a reaction to a great 60’s group no one seems to remember. Young Rascals were a favorite.
if you check out the rascals on the Ed Sullivan show you can see them perform.
Instead of a buzzing alarm clock, I would like to wake up to this song each morning. Forget newscasts we need more of this positivity.
If this song isn't "officially" Sunshine Pop (e.g. the Rascals aren't on the Wikipedia list of Sunshine Pop artists) it sure as heck sounds like it.
Young Rascals was a take off on the Little Rascals (Old black and white shorts starring Spanky, Alfalfa, Buckwheat and Darla.
Your analysis helps me appreciate this music from my teenage years even more!
