Nice reaction! And plesse "keep on keeping on" with the other stuff you react to as well!
Thank you!!!!
THIS song was SUPER HUGE IN 1976 AND Bostons LP FROM 76 Song FOR PLAY LONG TIME 1976
@@brittreactsBritt, you gotta get Kerry Livgren's autobiography if you really want to EXPERIENCE Kansas. All the songs written by Kerry are about his journey from UFO cult to Jesus.
OK, I'll be "that guy" here, and I KNOW how much you despise being told to check out a different video, but the live version from the 70's is a must-watch. It'll be the one with the millions and millions of views. Yes, this one is great, but it's the guys much older. The earlier video has the guys literally running around the stage like wild men, especially the lead singer on keyboards. You'll get a big kick out of it, and it will redefine "panty dropper", and I say that as a straight dude. These guys are amazing, old or new.
💯
114 million views on the official music video!
Agreed!
The singer running around, playing the keyboards and if that's not enough, playing the heck out of the bongos!
You go K-man, be that guy!
“Dust in The Wind” A MUST
Took the words ...
I just heard Dust in the Wind that was done by David Phelps singing with his two daughters - and it is STUNNING!!!!
Agreed
77 years old and of the entire rock era "Hold On" is my favorite song
This was written by Kerry Livgren (guitar). He left the band in the 80’s but wrote the majority of the music for Kansas. This was a song about his search for
spiritual meaning, he had tried many different Eastern religions but wasn’t finding anything to fill that void. This song talked about that search. He eventually found Christianity and left the band. He started a band called Kerry Livgren/AD. FANTASTIC BAND!
Kerry grew up in a deep Christian family but had doubts due seeing the world for what it is then explored beyond, he came back and embellished it. btw... Dust in The Wind was something he used as a finger-picking practice, his wife asked him what it was because it was pretty... he then write the lyric and made a song out of it.
@ to get a better picture of Kerry’s spiritual journey read his autobiography called Seeds of Change, that title is also his first solo album’s title. He discusses his growing up in a Christian home his gradual move away from Christianity and his search in many forms of Eastern religions and his return to Christianity. He gives a lot of background on song lyrics and how they coincided with his spiritual search. He talks about Steve Walsh leaving, he wasn’t happy with his Christian conversion.Hiring John Elefante as singer for Vinyl Confessions and Drastic Measures. Talks about his band AD and reunion with the first Kansas ( Proto Kaw)
I thank God everyday I born in the early 60's and grew up on this kinda music as a teen and young adult!! One of the most Iconic songs ever!❤❤
I MISS THE 70s so much 70s Rock was super FANTASTIC
Yep! Saw them in ‘78.
Me too.
Amen brother
Amen
Supernatural fans know this song by heart.
So do people who grew up in the 1970s.
Boomers know this one for over half a century
This Live version is good, but I personally prefer the Studio version.
Yea, but part of it is that they're much older. Steve's vocals have declined, like most men.
This isn’t Steve Walsh
Yes it very much is@@KennyCamaro2364
I was thinking the same thing.
This song is forever connected to Supernatural.
It takes about three notes for me to be picturing Baby in my head!😂❤
@17:18 I expected that face and you did not disappoint.😂
All Kansas lyrics were so deep. Incredible poets ahead of their time in music
These guys still tour and put on a hell of a show! I heard them when my dad listen to them, and I was hooked. Then when my son was a teenager he would steal my Kansas CD to crank loud in his truck. Lol
Saw them in Toronto last year. Really good show.
The key moment for me in the lyrics is: "Now your life's no longer empty......Surely Heaven waits for you".......I think that line defines the meaning of the whole song. I am thrilled that you chose this song.
Since you asked .... 😎
Kansas is an American rock band formed in Topeka, Kansas in 1973. They became popular during the 1970s initially on album-oriented rock charts and later with hit singles such as "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind".[4] The band has produced nine gold albums, three multi-platinum albums (Leftoverture 5x, Point of Know Return 4×, and The Best of Kansas 4×), one other platinum studio album (Monolith), one platinum live double album (Two for the Show), and a million-selling single, "Dust in the Wind". Kansas appeared on the US Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the 1970s and 1980s and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan. "Carry On Wayward Son" was the second-most-played track on US classic rock radio in 1995 and No. 1 in 1997.
😂 She be bringing out THE prayer cloth!!!😂😂😂
👑Britt, this was written during Kerry's spiritual search which eventually lead him (and bass player Dave Hope) to Jesus. As a side, the actual lyric is, "I set a course for winds of fortune", not "torture". ✌🏼 The studio gives the feel of what rock audiences heard back in the day and is usually the "go to". However, someone mentioned a live version back in the 70s, that would be the go to to check out, that's probably, "Canada Jam".
When will this girl learn to just listen to the damn studio version or official music video 😂😂 we have been BEGGING for this forever
only live versions really matter. studioersions are all manipulated.
@@davidkettell5726 🤣
There is a great live version on youtube. Live from Canada Jam.
@ The live versions sound like ass compared to the original for most of these songs. Not my fault these dudes can’t hold up to the standard they set on the record.
The studio is what MADE them famous, "commercially speaking"; I always go to the studio 1st then appreciate the live versions. Canada Jam however is not bad.
This song has been around longer than you have. Many of us have loved it just as long. We find your reactions entertaining and we get excited about you selecting a classic favorite.
What many of US want is to share the version of the song we first fell in love with, not a low-energy live version from a bunch of senior citizens.
It's your channel Britt, do what you want. I choose to watch or not based on whether you are providing what I want to see.
Your call.
Still think they sounded amazing…for senior citizens
@@billpo absolutely not the point
Kansas were the Mozarts of their day. Every song on their albums are extremely complex, deep and musically brilliant. Love And MIracles Out Of Nowhere is my favorite Kansas song. It was never a big hit, but you listen to that song and it represents the pinnacle of what this band could achieve.
Well, it was KANSAS after all, Dorothy! This is the music of my youth. :)
dust in the wind - is the other song I really like from them. Kansas in general is a fantastic rock band from back in the day. their vocals are great and have a wonderful sound together. keep up the fun vids cheers.
Britt- Spring of 1995 my wife and I bought a nice boat, and docked her in a boat slip on Lake Huron (approx. 3 hours north of our move near Ann Arbor, Michigan). We drove the 3 hours north every week-end to stay on the boat, and tried for weeks to come up with an appropriate name for the vessel, which would tie it to Michigan's "Sunrise Side", Lake Huron coast. For weeks we just couldn't come up with a name which was both witty and appropriate- then this Kansas song came on the radio, and BAM! There it was! Hearing your reaction to 'Carry On' this evening Instantly took us back 30 years- It was just as if you were in the car with us at that moment of discovery! Wayward Sun was a beautiful boat, and we blasted Kansas on her for many years.
What a great memory, thank you for sharing!
Yep, one of the greatest songs EVER assembled. The 70's live version is even better. Excellent reaction.
Saw Kansas live in Dec.1980 on their Audio Visions tour. I was 14 and blown away. Alvin Lee was the opener. Still have my concert ticket. Kansas is and will always be one of America's greatest prog rock bands. 🤘
Gurl….three words, you are hilarious!!!!! Love, Love, Loving your humor, sooo appreciated!!
This is a favorite song coved often in the tv series Supernatural.
You've got to see them in their prime to really understand how incredible they were. Glad you are checking them out though. ❤ They came from about 30 minutes west of where I live in Kansas.
As a 60-year-old, I am showing my age, but as a child of the 1970s and 80s I have loved Kansas for decades. I haven't seen the live version of this song for a while, so thanks for posting.
Yes we definitely grew up with the BEST music of all time!! 👊🏼
Panty dropping.... HA! 🤣 Kerry Livgren would love to hear that! He's the founding member and lead guitar player. He's also a very devout Christian too. He is also a 75 year old too! LOL! He's a year younger than my Mom. LOL!
I was fortunate enough to have been born and grow up with this great music. You kids today missed out, because they don't make it like this anymore.
Most of their songs had a philosophical story to them.
Amen, Britt! A delicious revival and placed in the PDC!? This song more than deserves it. My generation has rocked to this song for decades. So glad you are now one of our multitude.
THIS IS A MUST SONG FROM KANSAS A LEGACY OF A SONG ......SO BEAUTIFUL❤
Next stop, Dust in the Wind!
One of the greatest songs ever . Cruising the open road window down this song all the way up. Sun shining
Supernatural
Wait till she hears "Dust in the wind"
I hope she does the video !!!!
@@greg2976 That's up to her, It doesn't matter to me as long as she enjoys it
@@rickyork7089 👍
What a great song by a great band
They are the best. Almost forgot how great they are. Love them.
Lol 😂 church cloth , I love you ! 😅😅😅
Sam and Dean have entered the Chat.
Went from "panty-dropping energy" to Pentacostal church music. My life is complete. Thanks for the reaction!
Ihad the great pleasure of seeing the Kansa Leftoverture tour. One of the best shows i have seen and I have seen alot of concerts.
Finally, we’re back to the music. The reason I check in daily more rock ‘n’ roll roll please
Great music stands the test of time and effects people of many generations. I'm just glad younger generations enjoy this like I did when I was young and how I still do to this day! Thank you for a great reaction video and for your spot on commentary!
And now you have to watch 15 seasons of Supernatural.
When I heard thrm use this song in the show Supernatural, it caught my attention immediately. Have been a fan of both for years.
just so you know , the studio version is fantastic and way more clean than live , but this was a great show for sure.
In my top 5 bands of all time. They had a massive amount of hits! Steve Walsh (keyboardist) is one of the best rock vocalists ever. The guitarist with the eye patch is Kerry Livgren and he wrote pretty much all of the music and lyrics. He was on a spiritual journey. I suggest "Miracles out of nowhere" and "The Wall" "Point of know return" This is Progressive Rock!
Kansas is why I know I needed a better surround sound system. Didn't know Joe Walch was in Kansas. One of his albums was amoung my first LP's.
The guitarist with the patch is Richard Williams. Livegren wasn’t with them at the time of this concert. He still shows up now and then and plays a couple of songs.. yes he did write most of their songs. Carry on Wayward Son is the most famous with Dust in the Wind, but I don’t think either of those is their best work.
The defacto theme song of Supernatural. Show ran 15 years and didn't get cancelled, just reached an end. Not a single fan of the show can hear more than a note or two without getting hit in the feels. Show's that good (It ran 15 years in a time where 2 seasons is a hit). Yes there were some clunker episodes. There were at least twice as many you reached the end of and just sat there for a bit for all sorts of power reasons. They did damn near everything from a "Groundhog day" episode to a crossover with the scooby gang.
My favorite reaction channel ❤
🥰🥰🥰
This is such a great band! Thank you for this Britt! Id recommend "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas as well! Its a gorgeous song!! They are some awesome musicians!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Kerry Livgren wrote a number of soul searching songs, Carry on, Dust in the Wind, the Wall... He eventually moved into Christian music. I love that guys music
The best rock song of the 70s! This song has more hooks than a hat rack :)
Congratulations, you just listened to one of the greatest rock songs ever!
Hello ..... I am 62 years old..... I saw Kansas in concert when I was a teenager with my older brother.... AWESOME CONCERT!!! You should also check out a group called Boston ("Don't Look Back"), Chicago , Journey, Supertramp, The Who,Yes, Heart"Barracuda" (1977), STYX "Come Sail Away", "too much time on my hands", "Babe" all great songs..... all great bands of the 1970's & 1980's.....
SuperTramp, has she done any yet ?
Kerry Livgen who wrote this and many songs was a Christian and if you look on their Left Overture album you will see many brilliant songs
He wasn't a Christian when he wrote this, he was searching at the time and became a Christian a few years later. He has written many Christian albums since. The man is a musical and lyrical genius
Kansas is one of my favorite bands. I just saw their current line-up in Southern Indiana a few months ago. No original members left, but the music is phenomenal. It's like Mozart or Lizst. It will live forever. So many good songs. My favorites are "Hold On" and "Miracles Out of Nowhere". And yes, Kerry Livgren is a devout Christian and it very much influenced his writing.
One of the greatest songs ever.
My favorite rock band of all time. This is one of those iconic songs..when the first beat drops you have to sing along. Great musicians and lyrics. They had it all. Dust in the wind is also very good. This one though is my favorite song they did. you're so cute. I love the next generation discovering just how cool their parents were. I was a kid In the 70s and high school in the 80s. We had the best music ever. Songs had meaning and feeling then. I'm happy you liked it and are enjoying it as much as we did growing up with these songs as the anthems of our generation.
"Supernatural"
We need music like that again and hopefully the younger generation could appreciate it, I like your reaction to some of the best songs, music and vocalists,There were so many great songs back then and it’s all I listen to I can’t really get into the music of today even though there’s some but not many ,The 70’s,80’s had some of the greatest music ever 😊
You should listen to dust in the wind
Talk about bringing back a memory. The finale I actually could smell the mix of pot and the electronics heated up. So Brit, 2 things: Feeling like you were born in the wrong decade? And all of this was actually live, no auto-tune and no panomiming, just the band doing it's thing.
One of the best rock anthems ever
@brittreacts
I knew you’d love Kansas! Thanks for the reaction. The great thing about this band is they sound almost as good today as ‘back in the day.’ Another of their hits worth reacting to is “Point of No Return.”
"Carry On Wayward Son", like Boston's "More Than a Feeling", Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and others, is a bona fide 70s anthem. If you think the live performance was amazing, keep those headphones on and listen to the studio version!
Kansas’ early work (during the 70s) was progressive rock, and they were masters at it. This is their huge breakout song. Their music & lyrics were influenced by Native American lore (I believe one of the members is Cherokee), and Christian beliefs. They featured a violin in their band which was pretty unique. Hope I got all that right. This album is my favorite of theirs, called Leftoverture.
Check out Miracles Out of Nowhere for more of this.
Hey Britt, I remember this song very well when it came out but I've got to say your reaction made it so much better! 🙏😊
Britt, Dust in the Wind (by Kansas) will blow your mind
C’mon Britt , this is awesome , now you can react to “Dust in the Wind”
I saw these guys back in 75. Rod Stewart was opening for them
you loving this song is proof you have great taste. Keep on carrying on!
If you like this dust in the wind will confirm PDC
God I love your energy!. You have so much fun and you share it with us.👍
THIS song by Kansas is THE revelation to you at all.
“Somebody running’ up and down the aisle without their shoes on.” lol
As a keyboard player, this was definitely one of the favorites for me to play out. I also sing the lead in this song as well. You should definitely check out the studio version someday as well. I'm so glad to see the younger generation keep this amazing music alive!!!
Kansas isn't exactly my cup of tea but it's hard to deny; this song is amazing.
You do need to watch the old video when it first came out they definitely jam in that one
Beautiful Rock face!!❤😅😂🎉
Britt do Dust in the Wind!!! Awesome!!😅
Amazing how you spotted it's a religious song. Most people don't even know that. You should check there 2nd big hit" dust in the wind" If you want a deep song
Dust in the Wind is another must listen.
The name of the song is Carry on Wayward Son.
Britt, you musta smoked more weed than me........everything you have said made sense, LOL!!🤣
The original release, studio recording is massive, this is almost 50 yrs from when it was first released. LOL
I love your reactions! You really get into the music-Kansas, songs from my youth! You are also very lovely, and if I'm honest, I would be happy to watch you react to the phone book!
You continue to make me smile 😊
Have to check out the music video of this
AND YOU'LL HEAR ALLLLLL THE NOISE AND CONFUSION AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SONG! IT'S JUST SO GOOD 💯😊
I was fortunate enough to see them live in 1979. Amazing musicians! First rate lyrics!
Brings back memories of my teenage years. Thank you
My favorite Kansas song. For some reason this song helped me through my teenage years.❤❤❤❤
DUST IN THE WIND
Hey Britt love the content even if you don't put it on You Tube but you owe it to yourself to watch the videos of this song and dust in the wind just for the studio vocals, hair and the fashion show you will love 70's at its best
These guys have been in my top 5 since I was 14 ... I will be 64 in a few months ! That's how long I've been listening to the amazing Kansas ! And if you think the lyrics to this song was shakespearian , The lyrics to the song titled "The Wall" make this look like child's play !
And that, was basically the studio version , only live . You go Britt!
When I first listened to this tune, the first thing that jumped into my mind was the references similar to Greek mythology and epic sagas. The son who was told not to fly too high or the sun would melt the wax, the voyages of the Argos and the voices of gods and ghosts who haunted and led rulers to act the madman, yet uncover the treachery of fools. Mostly just spanning a story of searching and finding what one dreams of.
In this instance, it was based on the writer (Livgren) searching for something to help put his life upon a path he could believe in and put his faith into, to help guide the rest of his life.
I’ve seen Kansas twice, 30 years apart. While they may have lost a little bit in their older age, it sure wasn’t much. Steve Walsh’s vocals were definitely better when he was younger. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸
Seriously ya'll. You got her to react to the old men playing live? Every reactor should see Steve Walsh performing this song live on the Canada Jam video.
