Here's a (somewhat debatable) tier list of the UK's Russell Group Universities! Comment if you attend any of these universities and if you agree with the rankings. If you don't agree, let me know where you'd place some of the universities mentioned in this video Let me know also if you'd like to see more tier list videos, for example ranking the most popular degrees in the UK 👇
Uni of Manchester: • Affiliated with 25 Nobel Prize Laureutes. • Ranked top 30 on Shanghai and QS. • one of the top unis in terms of employability. • Owns multiple cultural and scientific sites. • One of the best cities for students. • One of the top unis in terms of student support and bursaries. • Has one of the best Eng and physical sciences departments including being the UK's major graphenes research centre. • Manchester Alliance is One of the Top business schools in the country. • The university currently employs four Nobel Prize winners amongst its staff, more than any other in the UK. • Russell Group (not that important) Super underrated uni overall.
I did my undergrad and masters at Cambridge and Imperial, respectively. Now I'm doing my PhD at Manchester and I definitely agree with you with Manchester being definitely up there. I think Manchester is often looked down upon because they give so many offers and take in so many students. Well this is because the uni is absolutely massive. They're not really selective when you compare to Cambridge or Imperial. But in terms of research, it is basically on par with oxbridge and imperial in my opinion.
Tbh I’m not sure why people would have that perception about Manchester’s acceptance being high. It’s quite the opposite. If people look at the UCAS data, their offer and acceptance rates are one of the lowest in the Uk. As you rightly said if people look at it as a figure, rather than a percentage, this may be where the confusions at. They typically receive more applications than any other uni in the country.
@@justinlin5454 hi mate. sorry I'm late. just saw your comments. congrats in getting your offer from Durham! Durham is a good university in my opinion. Although I feel like Durham is trying too hard to be like Oxbridge sometimes with their collegiate system. I've been there to visit once, it's a nice little old looking town. But there's not a lot to do there. not many shops or restaurants or nightlife. if you want those things you would have to hop on a 30 min train to Newcastle which is a lively and vibrant city (I've been there as well and it's a great city!). Apart from that, I think you can never go wrong with Durham. It's just to me, the location can get quite dull and boring. it's nice to visit, but I don't think I would want to live there for 3-4 years. 😅
@@scream8635 not sure mate. but I think it's good since uni of Manchester where the first electronic-stored program computer was built and Alan Turing used to work here. So I would think it's good for comp sci. hope that helps. in general, Uni Manchester is very strong in the Sciences
I don't think it's fair to place Warwick in great instead of creme de la creme just because the campus is in Coventry of which you seem to have a bad perception
I have the feeling that he - no offence - doesn‘t know for sure about many cities‘ locations. He seems to have a feeling about the uni and the location, but some unis are much better located than he states. For example, Durham is supposed to be in “the middle of nowhere“, but it actually is only 10 minutes by train to get to Newcastle and the one night club he talks about is just one of a few. I would just take everything someone on the internet says with a grain of salt. It often doesn‘t depict the whole reality and you might end up having the time of your life there.
Queen's University Belfast is world leading for cancer research, cardiology and respiratory disease treatment, plus has a pretty highly ranked dentistry school. Aside from that it's not really got that draw for English students TBH, like 90% of the undergraduate students are from Northern Ireland.
Hey Peter, so I have an offer for MBA from Loughborough University and Queen's University Belfast. I'm literally confused. Loughborough is triple accredited but Queens is Russell Group with AMBA accreditation. Any insights that might help!?
@@dee1525 In the end it all boiled down to taking the most practical decision. UEA offered me a scholarship + the MBA course fees was much lesser than the other two. Considering how the UK economy is going to pan out in the coming year, I had to take this decision keeping my finances and debt in mind. Also upon researching, I found UEA isn't a bad option. It's a good university.
Cough Cough Tier 1 - Oxbridge, Imperial Tier 2 - UCL / LSE / Edinburgh / Warwick / KCL / Manchester / Durham / Bristol Tier 3 - Nottingham / Leeds / Birmingham / Exeter / Glasgow / Sheffield / Southampton / York Tier 4 - Queen Mary / Newcastle / Cardiff / Queen Uni Belfast / Liverpool at the end of the day, they are all Russel group institutions and its the industry, social, and network experiences that truly counts other than your degree.
I think LSE should be in tier 1 - maybe with UCL too. But I think LSE defo should be tier 1 cuz its a specialist institution like imperial so it is best at what it teaches (just like ICL). But considering that STEM has better career prospects, you could argue imperial above LSE. But LSE should be tier 1 for sure. But LSE also has produced many alumnis leading the world (mostly politicians eww), so it deserves tier 1.
@@johnmanalo1330 I don't think Imperial also is not in the same conversations with Oxbridge as well. But many people do seem to put ICL and LSE together for being best at what they teach. There are some people who put LSE over imperial and vice versa. I believe that LSE's international reputation is at least as good as Imperial tho (70 percent international students). For those who want to study social sciences in the UK or anywhere else, LSE will always be one of their top options - it is the only best specialist university that only specialises in social sciences. Science Po is a social science institution that comes after LSE I think - but its never heard by anyone. Then there is MIT which is US specialist institution for STEM , which I would say is more highly ranked than Imperial - but Imperial also would be one of the top options for STEM lovers. In this way, we shouldn't say STEM is better than Social sciences in terms of career prospects so Imperial is better than LSE. If they want to study social sciences, they would always apply to LSE instead of Imperial - for them LSE is better. For Stem applicants, Imperial is better than LSE. So for prestige and reputation wise, I think it should be LSE/Imperial or Imperial/LSE. UCL is all-round university like Oxbridge, but just looking at the admission rate/offer rate it seems to be less competitive compared to LSE and Imperial. Also LSE and Imperial are specialist institutions with strict admissions compared to UCL - if i were to apply for social sciences/STEM I would realistically firms LSE/ICL over UCL.
I have to share this: I am going to Durham in September and I did quite a lot of research and have also been there and have contact to current students. Durham is an excellent uni and not in the middle of nowhere. The nightlife is really good, and if you want even more: Newcastle is 12 minutes by train. I actually took the train from Exeter to Durham last month and it was quite alright. Of course it is long, but the trains are really good and it was not exhausting or anything like that at all. The city itself is small, yes, but that has the advantage that you get to know many people and really have a community feel. And it is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. Quite sad that it didn’t become City of Culture 2025. But overall, it is really great and I have a good feeling about it!
I didn't know about the supposed lack of departamental support tbh but as for the social life, a uni like LSE definitely doesn't suck for it *if* you can afford it. London is the capital of England after all and there's SO MUCH you can do as a student there as long as you can afford it
I've got an offer for UG from University of Liverpool and from what I've seen online, Liverpool is thought of as a very good school with steep acceptance rates and being part of the Russel group and Liverpool graduates are sought after because I have quite a few people in Liverpool who have had amazing success with either work or post graduate opportunities.
I had them as a choice before but this guy convinced me to switch with Birmingham bc it’s apparently a lot better but grades are only marginally more demanding
Very disappointing from the Uni of Nottingham. I’m off there to study in a few weeks but I worked really hard to get in and I do wish it still had that reputation from 5+ years ago. They need to fix up fast bc they’re dropping in ranking and thus reputation.
Congrats on getting in! Yeah the student services/support is massively underwhelming and needs a total revamp. I can't believe that today's exactly 1 month since I officially graduated from UoN and yet I STILL haven't received my physical certificate and transcript. I'd let it slide if it was the only disappointment from my experience there but as you know, it's part of a long list which just shouldn't be the case.
There are 27,000 universities in the world. This year Leeds University is ranked at 86 the QS international tables which brings it within the top one third of one percent of world universities.. It is of course a Russell group university. The top 100 employers in the UK (ie The High Flyers' report which is viewable online) ) publish an annual ranking of the 20 universities whose graduates they favour most. In the real world this counts for quite a lot more than the often baffling and sometimes downright bizarre national rankings that appear in publications like the Times and the Guardian (Lancaster and Loughborough universities were consistently placed as top ten universities in the Times national rankings???!!! You have got to be kidding!!!). For 2022 the High Flyers' list places Leeds at number 5. Cambridge is ranked at number 7 and Oxford is ranked at number 10. Leeds is the wealthiest city in the north of England with upmarket shops, restaurants and cafes. The university has an embracing and safe feeling campus 10 minutes walk from the thriving city centre. On and around the campus there is some lovely architecture and a buzzing social scene. Of the UK's 120 universities Leeds falls consistently within the top three for the number of applicants. With an impressive international standing for the quality of its research and a first rate social scene Leeds will always be a serious choice for a great many academically gifted undergraduates and postgraduates.
Hey thank you for this help, i was confuse between University of leeds, bath and Edinburgh in business analytics, in your opinion which one should I pick , please help
Yeah but it just doesn’t have the same impact when you say “I went to Leeds university” some of these other Russel groups sound a lot more prestigious even if they are not.
How on earth is Manchester above UCL, Warwick and Edinburgh? Completely biased😂😂😂 Leeds and Birms are no where near a great uni. Decent at best. And how is Durham decent😂😂😂😪
One of the best unis in the UK/world COMBINED with a great and affordable student experience. If this tier list were solely based on university prestige and graduate prospects then it'd look quite different but considering UCL is expensive to study at and Edinburgh isn't as appealing of a university for its experience as Manchester, that's why Also imo LSE and Imperial > UCL
Let’s be honest here. No one is gonna firm Manchester over UCL, Warwick and Edinburgh? In the rankings you cited and cherry picked; Edinburgh and UCL beat Manchester in every single one😭 Prestige wise they are levels above Manchester. I’d say Manchester is Nottingham, Birmingham and Leeds level. A good reputable Uni but not prestigious per say. Oxbridge, Imperial and LSE are light years ahead of Manchester. In a whole different galaxy.
@@MahelKhan It is true than Manchester is ranked above warwick in global rankings (for only business and maths warwick is superior) but Manchester above Edinburgh and UCL is a crime 🤣 These 3 should be lumped together at best , Manchester is by no means superior to UCL and Edinburgh ( lower on global rankings compared to these) but we can agree it rivals them.
UCL is also not that recognize in the in western culture also. Some friends in Europe didn't even know UCL. Just after research and rankings people realized it was a great uni
Great video Mahel! I enjoyed it. 👍 My family and I just got back from the UK not too long ago. We spent the whole half term holiday crisscrossing the country visiting possible Uni destinations for our son. He is scheduled to start Uni next Sept/2023. I got the impression that Southampton is like the U of China,…..the number of Chinese students are so crazy. Question for you. What do you think of Bath? I know it’s not part of Russel Group, but according to Salary Survey UK 2022, Bath Graduates (Undergrad Degree in Business & Management) have received one of the highest salary offers from employers. Another thing, I like Sheffield,…..great Uni, great City. Lastly, I agree with you on Nottingham. Our impression is that, “Its hay days” are in the past, and it’s now on the decline trajectory. Plus, the city itself is quite “dodgy.”….
Edinburgh > Manchester in global rankings. Also Warwick is considered more prestigious than Manchester inside the UK as far as I know. I would swap Manchester and Edinburgh maybe. Or maybe put both in A tier. UCL kinda deserve S if you see its global rankings. Not bad list overall though.
@Ethan Charles inside the UK Warwick is considered more prestigious than Manchester even if it's international rankings are lower (and I don't think they are nowhere near even there ) St Andrew's is an even more extreme case since it's like top 5 within the UK but not even top 100 globally.
@Ethan Charles uhmh I dunno , to my knowledge , many uk peeps consider warwick as more prestigious but oh well. Myself I would put them at the same level anyway. Manchester pulls ahead in the global rankings due to the fact that it's like 100 years older to be fair🤣. St Andrew's is the one that is too overhyped in my book anyways.
I would also put warwick and Manchester same prestige level. And would also think that Edinburgh is better than Manchester... I am just annoyed now that many people in this video comments favor Manchester so much that some might place higher than UCL, LSE, Edinburgh, Edinburgh.... anyone know why?
Yes inside the UK, warwick>Manchester. @Harry Mays on additional note, top law firms and top Investment bank firms have target universities - which are oxbridge, LSE,ICL,UCL and Warwick. Manchester is presumably secondary target. In this way or either, it proves that warwick, at least competes better than Manchester inside the UK. But globally wise, Manchester is better than Warwick my slightly - but that slight difference enployers wouldn't care about. For instance, they would care about the disparity between LSE/ICL to Manchester but they wouldn't care about Manchester to Warwick.
Lol! I am deciding between Exeter (MSc Economics) and Strathclyde (MSc Applied Economics) but you got me hanging here. Like Exeter is an average uni now? and ofcourse then where would Strathclyde be fitting... Any advise on which one's better for career in econ? (ofcourse exeter is highly ranked and a Russel group but Strathclyde is better known for industry links and entrepreneurship oppurtunities. Also, Glasgow has a better social life)
Hello. Could you please tell me which uni is better for the Masters in Electrical Power Engineering among University of Leeds, University of Cardiff, University of Sheffield, University of Liverpool and University of NewCastle?
Hey I have an offer from Southampton and Leeds for Msc in Business analytics. Which one would be better, do keep in mind I have a scholarship pf 9000 GBP from Southampton
This is so inaccurate lol. Queen mary wouldn’t be a top 100 uni with one of the worlds highest research output it was a hmmm university. It’s in top ten for economics, medicine, and has the worlds best dentistry department.
1) Medicine and Dentistry at any Uni= job You could study dentistry at some unknown Uni and get the same job as someone who studied at Kings. So healthcare degrees are irrelevant when judging a Uni. 2) QMUL is just an ok Uni; It’s not terrible but no one firms QMUL over the likes of Oxbridge, Imperial,UCL, Edinburgh, Durham, KCL, Warwick, St Andrews, Bath and Bristol… these Unis require A*/A grades. QMUL takes people with C grades. I know people who got in with BCC. Most people in QMUL get in through clearing which shows it’s a low tier Uni. I personally think St Andrews and Bath are 10000x times better than QMUL and should replace it in the Russel Group since they take students with top grades, are targeted by big firms and are way more prestigious
@@Ali-oo3sb queen mary is one of the worlds biggest research intensive universities. Bath and St. Andrews research output is terrible that’s why it isn’t a Russel group
Can anybody tell which is the best university of Master in Public Health among the 5 Russell Group Universities I have chosen-Belfast, Liverpool,Cardiff,Exeter and Queen's Mary London.
hmm im thinking of doing biomedical science and 4 unis im considering are liverpool birmingham newcastle and southampton which 1 (if i get offers from all4 next yr)
For digital marketing , I got offer from both the univ . I would like to know how good may be the liverpool university in terms of getting hired and the university reputation among employers perspective and amount uk people .
Considering that I plan to pursue a master's degree in the UK and currently have offers in Computational Science from the University of Glasgow and Software Engineering from the University of Southampton, how should I choose? Do you have any friends who can provide feedback? I am more concerned about the learning experience and employment opportunities
Does that mean South of UK tend to be more expensive than North? I mean London is obviously most expensive but which uni cities do you think would come after?
Do you think the goverment needs to cap the tuition prices even more? Ngl I just don’t see where the money goes to. If every student every year pays £10k, that’s a lot of money at the end of each year. Enough to pay every teacher and facility
I have the following offers: 1 . Cranfield - Msc Finance and Management 2. Exeter- Msc Financial Analysis and Fund Management 3. Lancaster- Msc Accounting and Financial Management 4. Strathclyde- Msc finance 5. Loughborough- Msc finance and 6. Loughborough london - Msc Digital Finance I want to join investment banking job or other finance related job after completion. I want to choose the university that can provide me a good ROI. Being an international student, i could use all your help, kindly tell me which university has good job prospects ? I want to work in UK post study and i might work outside UK as well later. How do UK employers rank these universities ? I have a deadline approching. I would really appreciate an honest advice. Thank you.
Deadline is tomorrow, I hope you still see this on time as I think this bit of advice is very important: Go with what your gut tells you is the right choice! If you feel that one of the unis or cities is the one that you could feel particular well in, then you should go for that one. I know this sounds like the typical thing everyone would say but I think this is the best advice. Just go for what YOU think might be good. And if you, for whatever reason, feel like you made a wrong decision, there’s still time to change it later. Good luck!
If you are trying to go into top investment/consultancy firms like BCG, JP Morgan then you would need to go to a university with stronger brand power than that, like Oxbridge, UCL, LSE which is not possible now. So your best bet now is to try hard on the GMAT in 3 years to get into more well known MBA schools like LBS and Saïd. Good luck.
I agree with almost all of this. Except Exeter (IMO better than Nottingham, and a couple other). LSE shouldn’t be a top tier but apart from that is agree
LSE deserves that place man lmao. Idk why Manchester would deserved top toer but not LSE. You clearly don't know about the institution enough to say that.
@@Caller8194 yes. It is lower than the UCL and Imperial if we consider STEM. Because LSE doesn't do STEM. LSE undergraduate course, for example only offers 32 courses which are only social sciences. But just looking at social sciences, I believe that in terms of reputation is is just after havard perhaps (according to the global leauge QS table). I do believe that, for this reason, LSE is the same tier as Imperial. THE only difference is that Imperial only do STEM but LSE only do Social Sciences. So they cannot be compared in the first place. But generally LSE is at least same tier as UCL or is bette just looking at the overall prestige and global/local perception. LSE constantly produces world leading alumnis. I cannot say whether which is better lse or imperial. But as someone who is not biased and believes that Social Sciences are also as valuabke as STEM, I do believe that LSE is defo top tier if UCL and imperial is going to be on that tier. Hope this is understandable! some research about this social science institution might help^^
@@kimieee7871 oh ok thanks. I’m very much into STEM (mathematics) and not well informed about the social sciences or anything not STEM. LSE does seem nice, but as I prefer STEM I place UCL, ICL, Warwick, and a couple others higher than LSE
What y’all think about Bristol? I have offer and scholarship, its costing me around £20k however my heart wants to try for UCL and Imperial as im related to STEM, its costing £32-35k. Is it worth putting that much money?
I currently go to UCL and I think if you’re dead set and you can afford it then go for what your heart wants! Lots to think about but if you weigh up the costs and benefits of going to each uni, see which one comes out on top. Think about if there’s anything you prefer about the course at one uni vs the others and living costs, financial support etc, but also other aspects such as social life and societies. Any of those unis will give you a good degree! Hope that helps a little, I know it’s very stressful. Congrats on your offers and scholarship and good luck!
@@marchmayjune I appreciate your response, Wow UCL that's a dream, btw my biggest concern is will Bristol help me find Tier 2 sponsoring company assuming I have the right skill set, experience and certifications which I do and working on, or I have a better chance at UCL.
first of all bro I did my Masters at Warwick. One thing I will say is that people rarely go to Coventry. Instead most students live and go to leamington Spa or Canley for most things. I think I only went to the city centre in coventry once over my whole stay there.

@@MahelKhan off of objective knowledge, like academics, entry standards, prestige, research quality, etc as they're the only valid factors that should determine a top uni, unlike stupid stuff like student satisfaction, social life, etc as those are all subjective and vary due to these factors being purely opinionated. Exeter is an edging top 10 uni overall (like sits between top 9-13 realistically) like bristol, edi, notts.
Hey Lads, so I have an offer for MBA from Loughborough University and Queen's University Belfast. I'm literally confused. Loughborough is triple accredited but Queens is Russell Group with AMBA accreditation. Help!?
which do you think is important, overall ranking or ranking by subject? I've got offers from KCL and SOAS for Development Studies(Master). KCL is prestigious internationally while SOAS is not well known outside the area of Development Studies. Which graduates have better job opportunities? My friend strongly recommends going to KCL, saying that what matters is the university name, not the subject. do you agree to that? thank you so much for your attention and participation.
Ranking by subject is definitely much more important. I never look at overall rankings because they are based off of rubbish metrics. Subject specific rankings are more valuable because they are related to the department you are applying for. Some unis may be top 10 for life Sciences but in overall rankings they are barely in the top 30 (for example), what this means is that the department for life sciences is one of the best in the country.
Manchester at the top tier is farcical. It’s a great university hence it should be on the second tier. Guardian ranked it 40 (national) in 2020 and 25 (national) in 2021. It’s nowhere near the level of Oxbridge / LSE. Also, its nightlife / student experience is on par with Leeds and Bristol.
@@MahelKhan The difference between Manchester and the other universities you’ve listed as top tier is that you have to cherry pick ranking websites in order to find those listing Manchester as a top university. By contrast, Oxbridge and LSE will be ranked top 5 in every table.
@@cafc4matty982 LSE is not in the top 5 in any global rankings as far as I can tell, and is ranked 16th in the Shanghai rankings, whereas Manchester is 5th. Manchester is also ranked 6th by QS. These are the most highly-respected rankings in the world, so I wouldn’t call it cherry-picking. To add to that, Manchester scores high in *ALL global rankings* . It is only in domestic rankings by the Sunday Times and Guardian where it falls short. But to counter that, it performs well in the Complete Uni Guide. So, in fact, you would have to cherry-pick in order to not make Manchester a top uni.
How could you confidently reference a guardian ranking, whilst demonstrating how ridiculously it changes from year to year. The Guardian University Guide is basically just a summary of the yearly NSS.
@@alexthompson2087 LSE is not ranked high in global ranking because all the leaugue tables are biased against Social Sciences but favor the STEM. LSE only has social sciences (well LSE has like 2 quant degree but don't have like medicine and natural sciences). If you search up the global ranking just for social sciences which LSE specialised in, it is just after Havard... So including STEM, humanities and art, LSE is top 40 globally but with just social science courses ( what LSE only teaches) it is just after havard. So global ranking is lower for LSE for that reason I have provided.
i don’t know how exeter is at the bottom lol, also soton, york deserve to be great if bristol is in great. manchester doesn’t deserve creme dw la creme, more like it is great. you should have had a section between decent and great, but otherwise good guide
@Vicky Rankings are partially based on things like student satisfaction, but academically it doesn’t deserve creme de la creme. It is very well regarded of course, but are you really going to say that it’s on the likes of Imperial or Oxbridge? Tier 1 - Oxbridge, LSE, KCL, Imperial, UCL Tier 2 - Bristol, Manchester, UCL, Edinburgh, Southampton, Leeds, Nottingham, Sheffield, York, Warwick, Durham, Birmingham, Glasgow Tier 3 - Liverpool, Newcastle, QuB, Queen Mary, Cardiff, Exeter Of course you can nit pick in each tier and say “oh this university is better than this one, they are ranked 15 places higher internationally!” but overall there isn’t enough of a difference to rank a university like Manchester a tier above Leeds Do you disagree? Nobody is saying Manchester is bad 😁
@Vicky Also in the video I think it should be in great tier. It’s a bit of a waste of time to obsess over ranking all good universities like this but when people are biased it makes me laugh…
Agree with this too. Manchester is too high. Ethan Mays -stop the bias man. I just see your biased comments everywhere. I commented a lot and if I get blocked cuz I did comment a lot as much as you did, but if your comments don't get blocked or deleted, that would be another bias... so please don't delete my comments i will stop replying. I went there for my masters (York for my LLB) and thought York was better personally 🤷

Tier 1 - Oxbridge, Imperial
Tier 2 - UCL / LSE / Edinburgh / Warwick / KCL / Manchester / Durham / Bristol
Tier 3 - Nottingham / Leeds / Birmingham / Exeter / Glasgow / Sheffield / Southampton / York
Tier 4 - Queen Mary / Newcastle / Cardiff / Queen Uni Belfast / Liverpool
at the end of the day, they are all Russel group institutions and its the industry, social, and network experiences that truly counts other than your degree.

Just related to quality of academics for a CompSci masters program, which should I prefer against Nottingham and Exeter?
i don’t know how exeter is at the bottom lol, also soton, york deserve to be great if bristol is in great. manchester doesn’t deserve creme dw la creme, more like it is great. you should have had a section between decent and great, but otherwise good guide
@Vicky Rankings are partially based on things like student satisfaction, but academically it doesn’t deserve creme de la creme. It is very well regarded of course, but are you really going to say that it’s on the likes of Imperial or Oxbridge?
Tier 1 - Oxbridge, LSE, KCL, Imperial, UCL
Tier 2 - Bristol, Manchester, UCL, Edinburgh, Southampton, Leeds, Nottingham, Sheffield, York, Warwick, Durham, Birmingham, Glasgow
Tier 3 - Liverpool, Newcastle, QuB, Queen Mary, Cardiff, Exeter
Of course you can nit pick in each tier and say “oh this university is better than this one, they are ranked 15 places higher internationally!” but overall there isn’t enough of a difference to rank a university like Manchester a tier above Leeds
Do you disagree? Nobody is saying Manchester is bad 😁
@Vicky Also in the video I think it should be in great tier. It’s a bit of a waste of time to obsess over ranking all good universities like this but when people are biased it makes me laugh…
Hey mahel, hope u doin good
Pls let me know which uni is best for msc industrial automation and also the job prospects after masters
Manchester too high, Exeter too low, rest roughly spot on
Agree with this too. But the whole tier list is good except the Manchester and maybe Exeter part.
i would of applied to go to mcr uni if i didn't live there in the first place, it is a great place for students and an amazing university
I am planning to do MSc in Aerospace Structures and Materials at Queen Mary. Do you think, I will make good decision to study at Queen Mary for my Masters? I am unsure right now. I have also offer from Cranfield University in MSc Advanced lightweight and composite structures. I have to make a decision between Cranfield and Queen Mary for my Masters. Which one would you recommend me? I wanted to study in a big city like London but I also care about the quality of education and the career opportunities.
Surely go for Cranfield . It has good reputation as well as offers you with better job opportunities and career options ☺️
@@sauravnagrale3544 I think, I will go for Queen Mary because I believe that Cranfield will not offer me good job opportunities. It is not in a Russel Group and its name not even heard. I believe Cranfield is not prestigous too. Cranfield is located in a village. Therefore, there will be no good connections with companies. On the other hand, Queen Mary is in London and member of prestigious Russel Group. London offers many opportunities too. It will be definitely great experience to study in London.
I have an offer from Uni of Liverpool and was really hyped but is it really not a great city for student experience? Do you guys think Sheffield, York or Leeds would be better options? P.s I prefer campus unis and an active SU
Sheffield uni is city-based, so keep that in mind if you want to go there
Subject?
uni liverpool graduation ceremony is in a lecture theatre. keep that in mind. if you don't care about that, then go with it 😊
York best university out of them
liverpool is nice imo, what did you pick in the end😊
10:23 ‘The accent is a bit questionable’ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Quite a nice ranking that I mostly agree, but Manchester can be good or worse in different ways.
PS. I do not care about the night life of each city.
Can someone let me know from this list what are the best unis to go to if someone is perusing HR, Marketing or Supply Chain?
Hi bro I got offers from two unis birbimgham and Bristol for masters of project management course I'm confused between these two.... Please help
I have the same problem but with medicine! Have you decided yet?
Where the hell is U of St. Andrews
St Andrew's isn't Russell Group
Kinda pointless if you've only been to Nottingham. You're bound to see weaknesses that you can't see at other uni's and visa versa.
I also went to Uni of Manchester 🙂
For MBA what would be better,,Southampton or Bath.
bro university yrok is the best in Russell group
🤨
University of Exeter or Cardiff University. Please let me know which uni is good for business analytics masters course
Exeter for sure
I got an offer from kings msc banking and finance, university of nottingham msc banking and finance and university of edinburgh msc finance
Any suggestions which one to go for?
no one cares haha
KINGS OR NOTTS, EDI NO GOOD
King’s College London for prestige and location.
You're going to come out with a good degree with decent prospects no matter which of these you attend
Hi. I am Applying for MSc Comp Sci in Newcastle University and Manchester Metropolitan University. can you suggest which one is better?
What are your thoughts about Nottingham Trent university ?
Watch my latest video (I've timecoded it for you) for my thoughts on NTU :) ua-cam.com/video/NjWZKFA-Z4U/v-deo.html
Just out of curiosity is the University of Bedfordshire a good university
I wouldn't say that it's a very reputable university compared to some of the other options out there in the UK. That being said, I've seen that Uni of Bedfordshire students have gone onto study a masters at unis like UCL so ultimately it depends on what your plans are
@@MahelKhan say if someone was study say law and got a first would that still be a great degree
It's literally the worst uni in the uk
Hi, what do you think of University of Bath, it is not in the Russell Group. What's your honest review? (my course is marketing btw) Thank you!
Incredibly strong university, especially for STEM / Business degrees. Take a course with a placement year and you’ll be set on your career
@@johno3801 thank u sm!
I have same issue, I'm confused between University of leeds and bath !!
In my opinion it’s even better than it’s neighbour, the university of Bristol.
@@zigzagnemesist5074 Bath is higher ranked in the UK vs Bristol but lower in the world rankings. I would choose Bristol over Bath just because they are similar in price however Bath is a much worse area to live in.
Bias not showing at all lol, and UCL should be higher up
Agreed, Oxbridge->IC, UCL->etc in my view.
Ngl I feel Manchester is an amazing school but definitely not "Creme de la creme." Like just being honest at least from an international perspective, it's nowhere close to the top four you listed. I feel if anything UCL would be closer.
P.S: I'm applying to the US.
Is QMUL overhated?!
You forgot about my university birmingham
UoB is the first uni on this list
What are your thoughts on University of Liverpool? I have an offer from University of Liverpool 😁
Terrible Uni
@@anonymous99923 Omg! What makes you say that?!
@@kevinTRQ it's the worst out of all the Russel grouos
@@anonymous99923 okay👍
@@kevinTRQ Yep 👍
Unfortunately most counselors in India like IDP, SIUK etc are pushing students for average universities like Cardiff, Exeter, Leeds 😫
There are very few genuine counselors like Rachna Gupta Eduhaven who send most Indian students to LSE 👨🎓and Imperial 👩🎓, and they charge money 💰
I've been noticing Indian students going to low-tier universities like Bedfordshire and have been wondering why you'd spend so much money to do so, when Uni of Delhi for example is 407th in the world and better than some of the UK universities that some Indian students have been getting into
how are they average unis?
What about university of Aberdeen?
Can someone please explain more about Coventry? I don't understand why it's bad as a location
Coventry is a shithole, but warwick campus is actually located just outside of the city in the countryside. Plus the vast majority of students live in the nearby town Leamington Spa, which is very nice
It isnt, take everything you see and hear on the internet with a grain of salt. Warwick has excellent teaching and reputation and the social life seems to be really good as well. Especially since you are in Leamington Spa in 15-30 minutes
Just got into imperial ;)
Lol I'm deciding between Southampton and Sheffield and you said they're really similar 😂
I don't believe you'd be worse off going to one over the other when I say they're similar 😂 Sheffield would be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than Southampton however due to being in the north
@@MahelKhan southampton is cheap for a Southern city
What do you think about Lancaster University which is not rs group but in terms of business and overall ranking it is going up
Regards
i feel like the onlu university where i will feel at home besides London universities of course since im from london, is manchester. It seems like the only uni with a city and multi culturalism
is the rank of universities it important to fond jobs in london ?
What about University of bath
Thanks 🙏
This tier list, the people as well as the uploaded himself are very biased. Stop the Manchester bias. It is not tier 1 lmao
what is your issue with Manchester lol. It’s not better than Oxbridge obviously, but I’d say it’s 4th or 5th in the uk. and, no i’m not biased, i don’t go there
My rg uni rankings based on prestige/perception (imo):
Joint 1. Oxford (humanities and social sciences) and Cambridge (maths, science and engineering)
3. LSE
4. Imperial
5. UCL
6. Durham
7. Warwick
8. King's
9. Edinburgh
10. Bristol
11. Newcastle
12. Birmingham
13. Exeter
14. Manchester
15. Nottingham
16. QUB
17. Glasgow
18. QMUL
19. Sheffield
20. Southampton
21. Leeds
22. Liverpool
23. York
24. Cardiff
But of course it's what you do with the opportunity that matters most.
I'd put Durham slightly lower but agree mostly
No swap Newcastle with York
University, Of Portsmouth?
It's not Russell Group
You did Exeter dirty! It has one very good club & bar called timepiece (snoop doggs been there, im not joking look it up)
Tier 1: Oxford Cambridge LSE Imperial UCL
Tier 2: KCL Edinburgh Manchester Warwick
Tier 3: Other Russel Group
Tier 4: Exeter QMUL Liverpool Newcastle York
accurate
Yep. I think this is accurate too
put Durham in Tier 2 and I agree
@@johno3801 The reason Durham should be in tier 3 is because of its low international reputation. Bmaybe the end of tier 2 or at the front of tier 2 imo. But locally it is in tier 2 ^^
York is tier 2
Exeter, Queens Belfast or Sheffield? Which one I should go for MPH programme? Please suggest🥺
Exeter I think it has more ranking
I decided to switch from LSE to Cambridge 🤣
Well like I said in the video, everyone's going to welcome you with open arms (except the Oxbridge elitist haters 😂)
As long as the academics recognised and certs clarification accredited globally....just go to hell with the ranking.....if you were just a 2nd lower degree at your most "prestigious" uni..... still shittier than those received 2nd higher or 1st class degree student at lowest rank uni...😂
Aap Leicester se ya Bradford se?
Thanks
Wait surely this is satire about exeter?! A lot better than Cardiff, york, Manchester Birmingham etc in terms of academics and location and It’s in oh no?
We have a JK Rowling fan.... There have also been some questionable behaviour by the Exeter law society. But it does have a very posh business school. It's not a career killer, but it's alas just another Russell group.
exeter definitely goes in decent
@@robbysimmons9901 this is satire LOL, exeter is an upper tier russell group, its actually decently competitive when it comes to prestige and entry standards compared to the lower 12 or so rg colleges. Absolutely smokes cardiff, york, leeds, and competes with edi, bristol, etc. If exeter is just another russell group then so is durham - has had a similar reputation and stories about weird racist students yet we can all admit its a really good university.
Defo not location 😂😂😂 unless your into copy and pasted areas and pretty much nothing to do
@@ImperialAssassi4U yeah cuz social life (which is completely subjective btw) is what defines a top university.
the bias on manchester🤣
Not bias, Manchester is ranked very highly by all world ranking tables. Two of them have placed Manchester at 4th in the UK.
Yes i can see the bias. But it still is a great university but not just as good as Oxbridge, LSE, UCL and imperial. So id say 2nd tier. Except that, I would say that everything is solid^^
@@alexthompson2087 Yes Manchester is a highly ranked university, but it just can NOT be in the same tier with Oxbridge or LSE&IC in terms of entry requirements and academic reputation.
Lmao according to me university of belfast is an excellent university by far butt okay
In my opinion:
Tier 1: Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial
Tier 2: LSE, Durham, Warwick, St Andrews, UCL
Tier 3: Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol, Leeds, York, KCL
Tier 4: Nottingham, Liverpool, Queen Mary, Belfast, Newcastle, Exeter, Sheffield, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Southampton
