I got my core id40 v3 a week ago. I believe it's perfect for practicing at home. It has effects, it's stereo, it has tuner, ISF (Blackstar's patent). All extras are welcome but the main goal of an amp is just to sound great. We can't demand from a brand to give us everything with a small combo amp with this amount of money. Just sayin' my opinion.
I got the 10w and it is great. Just one question
I want to record(vedio) using the line in/stream and want a backing track at the same time. Is there any possibility to play backing track through the usb(software architect)?
I' ve got one (10w) and for at home practising it's ok, I wished it had more eq, you can also buy a small Marshall combo for the same amount of money which sounds better even with none of the effects

I agree the Clean Bright channel is really versatile! You can even plug in a 12-string ac. electric and get some great sounds out of it, although I tend to run it with a compression
pedal as well. Add some gain and you have a bit more of a light power pop clean Bright sound, without going full-bore like the Crunch channels.

I have the 10 watt just to start with and only for home use,
I play mainly acoustic so looking forwards to using this with my only recent bought Area pro 2.
I just got this amp a month ago. And haven't tried it yet because of living in apartment. But will be soon. Great review. Thanks alot.
Can always get a good pair of headphones and plug in. I just got the 10 watt version of this amp, I love it, but I had to move out of an apt. and rent a small house,
because I had no soundproofing whatsoever at my old apt., and it was just not working for me. Now I can open up a good deal with my various amps, and also my
new Klipsch PC speakers, and nobody hears anything. That helps. But headphones could work well with the V3. You can play at a low volume, I guess, if necessary,
but of course it's not as much fun. I tend to play live along with UA-cam or Chordify, etc. You may also consider the new Fender Mustang headphone amp device,
that I hear is as wonderful as the Mustang modeling amps, of which I own one.

I had the V2 ID Core 20 and loved it. It broke my patronage of Vox digital amps because in the shop, I couldn't get a decent sound from the Vox, but I loved the Blackstar. I hope that the V3 is at least as good as the V2 and I appreciate all the points you raised. This amp is not aimed to go against the Katanas, and I thank you for recognising that, by not saying 'this amp aren't no Boss'. The ISF gives off interesting sardine fumes, which contribute to the flubby emissions from the mini jack sockets.

Nice review! Thanks for doing the demo of effects with a clean setting. I could actually make out what each one did. Seems everyone who gets a hold of a modeling amp for review jumps right to "lets see that crunch, overdrive, and distortion", and there's no turning back. Sounds like AC/DC, Anthrax, Metallica, Hendrix, and Van Halen Combined. Yikes! There are other genres of music. Amp sounds good, really has a lot going for it.
I've been playing a little Laney cuz it's a nice small amp. It doesn't have the speakers to push it nor the accessibility to tweak in the effects. Lot of nice features on this amp. I also use an alesis Street amp a little heavy I modified the battery. I get a lot of life out of it it's portable it's got the same processor I use professionally but it's hard to access the effects it doesn't have an LED screen. So I impulsively bought one a 10 water. It's great for my little cigar box four string. Got a p90 in it I sounded good in the store.

I've played the v2 20 watt a bunch and I really dig the OD2 channel. I picked up the v3 for the live streaming feature. Hopefully these speakers break in. This is perfect for jamming with a friend; that's why I bought it. Sick of lugging around a ton of gear just to do living room jams. The stereo feature gives the amp a bigger sound. The software is pretty sweet; I really like to tweak things. The ISF = Instant Sonic Fandango is my favorite feature by far.
It's phenomenal for that purpose. The only thing it lacks perhaps, is a good handle! Otherwise, it's a great amp.
Great video, especially you played just enough of each sample, without overdoing it as many do. You're right it sounds very trebly, could be nice to hear it with something besides a strat? 😁 I assume only one effect at a time could be used? I'm sure you noticed this later but what's with the blurred square at the bottom towards the end? Love your hair! I've always wished I could have had a 'fro but alas, and now it's too late LOL. Also don't worry about us being able to see the lights due to the angle.
I've tried the Yamaha, the Mooer and the Spark and I'm afraid I was just spoiled by the little Vox practice amp with the built in drum machine. None of these others are as good IMHO, I may even send the Yamaha back, but I haven't tried the software with the Yam or Spark yet so that might change my mind. For the record I did not like the Katana Artist MkII at all! Sounded empty or something.
Good afternoon Andy, I just wanted to say hi & let you know that I recently subscribed to your channel & that I enjoy watching your videos. I particularly enjoy these videos around the Blackstar ID:Core series. After owning three Fender Amps (Mini Twin, Champion 20 & Acoustasonic 15) I switched to Blackstar amps. I first bought the Blackstar Fly 3 because it had a MP3 input that the Fender Mini Twin was missing & I liked it so much that I bought the ID:Core 40 Amp & the Fly 103 extension. Then finally I bought the Acoustic Core 30 & I have to say that these amps are great & I'm enjoying them so far. I would like to thank you for making these videos & posting them on your channel. I learned a lot about my Blackstar amps by watching your videos.

Finally someone who agrees with me about the mini usb thing. It really stood out to me as a masssive floor given they went to the effort of making a whole new software and then just forgot nobody uses that connection since

I didnt even pick up on that until it was mentioned, that should be USB C.
So I’ve had the IDCore 100 for a few years now. I never liked the actual amp voices, but where it shines is as a clean pedal platform. If you leave it on the clean channel, and crank the channel volume all the way. Just using the master to actually control the volume level. Anyhow, this amp with pedals is brilliant. You get one of the cleanest signals with no unwanted interference. Just the pure sound of your drive, and effects pedals. It just makes a brilliant platform for anyone who uses pedals to get their sound. I never use any of the other channels on the amp itself, but there’s no need when everything comes from my pedal board. Anyhow, hope your doing well during this trying time we’re living in now. Likewise on the V2 ID Core 20 - not a lover of most of the presets (I don't mind the Crunch channel for some things) but as a clean pedal platform it's a brilliant wee thing.
@@TheGuitarGeek Yea same here, as good as can be expected. Definitely a much different time we’re living in these days than ever before. I think you will definitely like the amp so much more as a pedal platform. Just an excellent clean and clear signal for using pedals. I’ve only ever played through the 100 watt that had 2 10” speakers. If the other ones are anything like that one though it will handle any and all pedals brilliantly. Well take care and enjoy. That’s really interesting, I’ve had this amp for a year and just got some pedals for Christmas. I am really struggling to get it to sound right together, it just sounds like a fuzzy horrible mess and you can’t make anything out of it. I am sure I’ve just got some settings wrong somewhere or something. Would you mind sharing the exact settings you use with pedals?

How do you feel a 20W for a beginner for a bedroom?
Amazing demo.. .super convinced to get this one for me.. does it have a LINE OUT for stage performances (I mean dial in the effects in the amp, and pull out a line out into the mixer, and a jack into the PA... will save the hassle of pedals😉)

Thank you for your videos I just beat guitar center out of $50 on this amp. I thought it sounded good when I was playing the floor model s*** I'm going to use it for a street amp probably could play a small club. I was playing it through a cigar box 4 string I like to play the blues it sounded good. Looking forward to more videos I'd like to learn more about this app thank you. MiniUSB is of the past, but it's totally fine for the needs of the interface. Knobs are of the past as well, but we dont replace every knob with a touch screen if that's all we need.

It’s a fun amp, once I figured out the combinations. I got the 10, v3, really like the reverb sounds . Chorus and delay is what I wanted. For the price it’s very good. Once you get the hang of it, I thought it was great for practice. I’m going to mike it through a p. A. , I recommend it for a fun amp.
I played a lot of nice mighty fine vintage amps. Over the years for the money you can't beat the quality of the sound I haven't been inside the amp. But I tweaked it out in the store at guitar center didn't push it too hard but it was really nice I like this guy's review I've watched a couple of videos.

I’ve just got one of these. The 10 watt one. It has that low speaker buzz you were talking about (I think). Can I ask, when you first had yours,was the speaker buzz mainly when playing the low E, A & D strings?. It’s not dead loud, but it would be annoying and not practical to record with, especially clean sounds on quiet tracks. I’m hoping it will break in, as you say after a few hours of playing
So I've been using an axe fx 3 for the last couple years. It fell and broke and I couldn't afford to replace or repair it. So I had to pull out my old line 6 spider 3, and it was just horrible. Found the id core stereo 10 v3 in guitar center for 100 bucks. Bought it took it home and got the architect software. It's usable. It's crap on the distortion and tone shaping compared to what I'm used to ( im used to a $2500 unit) but the cleans are really good. If you're a bedroom guitarist like me and you don't record or play live it's actually a really good bedroom amp. Ps don't ask why I bought an axe fx 3 when I only play to myself in my bedroom, I wanted one...
I really like the cab rig (since I'm gonna be using the amp a lot with headphones) and the stereo sound with the modern software but would you suggest this or the vox vt20x that also has a valve pre amp? I think you can get more sounds with the vox but do these features make the blackstar the more sensible choice?
The Vox is also a phenomenal modeling amp, you can't go wrong with either, really. If you need a Vox AC30 or 15 sound in particular, plus other sounds, the Vox is fantastic. But the Blackstar I find fantastic for dialing in crunch and clean sounds very easily. It's also maybe a bit easier to kind of set up and program than some of the Vox amps.
Kind of a random question, but would this work on a ukulele? I have a fender fullerton ukulele and wondering if this would work. I've heard that acoustic amps are better for ukes. Thank you.
Ive had the id10 for some time and ended up selling. The amp doesnt have much editability on board if youre like me that dont want to hook it up to a pc to edit that and make the delays more audible than they are by default
Should I get this amp or katana 50 mk2 for room practice and maybe loop in the future?

Just got the 10 today, I like it, for 100 quid perfect for a small flat, that you will not piss off the neighbours, tomorrow I am going looking into software but I like the interface options, as for hiss, once you have the software loaded I heard you can sort it with the noise gate, the rechargeable battery option is pretty cool, you can take it with you, I am on waiting list for the Blackstar TRSS cable, as for the USB yes that was surprising, and no it did not come with a cable, but I have an older PC so it really doesn't matter, but so far so good, as for flubby didn't hear any of that must be my 3 P90's, ISF is Itchy Shit Fart :)

Great review. Having watched ALL the review, the following is what I conclude:
1.Lots of sounds and features, perhaps too many, which can lead to a great deal of twisting and turning and pressing and less time actually playing the guitar !
2.The cleans sounds are really nice.
3. The overdriven and crunch sounds not so much, tinny and weakish.
4. At around 170€ quite good value for money but Fender's Mustang range offers fierce competition.
All comes down to "horses for courses."

i have the original ID Core $) wattstero amp that I bought a my local 'Music-Go-Round for just under $100 S.S. I go it to reamp my cll phone so I couls hear it over the machines at the commercial laundry plant i worked at.. I was very close to a bank of 10 very large industrial dryers. and there were other P.A/kareoke speakers with various mexican music playing from different directions around me throughout the plant.. lol .. I had to face my amp directly at me and cramk it as loud as i could just to hear it clearly eough to njoy my music.. vol at fill and gain just befor real break up worked well wnough.. a year later i got a Starcaster Strat at thr same place I got my amp and when i hook the Blackstar into my surround system I get muck deeper, fuller tones overall.. with the surround speakers and the sub woofer adding more bass... and adding more volume as well.. hey I grew up on classic hard rock.. and i like it LOUD.. even at 65 yrs old o still likr my rock as loud as i can get it...using a stereo 1/8 in. out of the headphone jack adapter to 2 rca jacks into the CD id of my surround receiver and adjusting to sound as i like it... . i"ll soon mod the amp with a pair of switched female 1/4 in jacke for a Pair of vertical 4 X 12in cabs to sit either side of the 100" bigscreen on the wall, which is part of my home theater set up in my oomintedrating the towers into the system through a custom made switching box for any combination ot all the speakers avail;able. mayby adding a power amp in the system as well...
i took my Epiphone sg G-400 Pro into shop had work done. then the guy there show me the guitar used this amp the deep od blew my mind. i called today about the amp he ask me if i like him to putt one on the side for me i said yes monday gonna pick it up sick amp

Inspector Samuel Flatulence. This didn't do it for me. However, the 100w I used to have was awesome. The wide-stereo is worth the price of admission folks.

Perfect for beginners in a small house. You have to remember an amp is nothing with out your input and personal advancement. It is adequate and much better with a good set of headphones. Goodluck.
Can I connect some guitar distortion for a better effect. Will then the sound be similar to the heavy metal sound?
I really like the sound of this amp and I'm thinking of getting it. One thing that I'd like to know is. Could I add a distortion pedal to the amp ? That's if you think I need it or is there any other pedal that I could add to the amp to give it a more thrasher tune ? Any help please.
Hey Darren. Yes you could put any pedal you want through it. I am not sure how the results would be but a thrash tone should be easy to achieve. Any high gain pedal with a good EQ section would do it.

5:50 : It's not a big deal, but I just gotta wonder what the product designers were thinking when they put the little green blinky "Tuner Mode" light way the hell away from the tuner mode button, with no label? Weird.
My guess is the engineers forgot and had to add one later on lol
You ought to check the 40. While it's not powerful enough to keep up with a drummer it is a lot louder and fuller sounding than the 20. To me the tone is better than any small solid state amp I've owned. I've had a Fender Mustang 3, Boss Katana 50, and Vox Cambridge 50 , and in a small room its sounds better than any of them. It actually sounds as good as the small Blackstar tube I recently tried.
They’d interesting. I’ve had the 10 and 20 watt and was thinking of getting either the 40 or a katana 50 mark 2.
I agree, I have the 40, and the 100, love them both. I've tried many expensive tube amps, but oddly enough, I still prefer the sounds of the core.
I just got the 40 used and it's great, especially the clean bright sound plus reverb. Tried the 10 and 20 in the shop. 10 wasn't great, 20 was ok but not as good as the 40.
Why does it sound way too crunchy? Is it cuz he's using a strat or is it cuz the tone settings?

If I was a practice amp builder I would just read the complaints on competitive builders forums. And start by solving those issues on my own product. But I'm not paid to give those guys successful ideas so screw them.

EXACTLY... Like who hired these marketers!! Supply and demand, very basic aspect.
My little id10 v2 could do a half-decent slapback delay with the delay in the second range right at the beginning and getting lucky with the tap tempo button, then reverb on the third range about 1/4 of the way up. It could pass as somewhat remotely resembling a surfy tone.

I really had my heart set on getting the 20w version but your comment about it sounding crap to start with and you felt it might need to 'wear in' threw me a little. I'm no boffin when it comes to amps, but would it be common for amps to need to settle in to establish their own sound?
Hey Dave. It's not the amp but the speaker that tends to settle after several hours of playing. New speakers can sound a little harsher in the beginning

Blackstar ID Core V3 20W or the Yamaha THR30ii? Which one has better clean and stereo sound?
Vastly different price points, footprint and features. Cleans (Warm & Bright) on the ID:Cores are very nice as is their Super Wide Stereo feature. Both of those are fine practice amps. For my purpose I chose and use an ID:Core 40 because its performance met that primary purpose at a price I wanted to pay. If budget isn't a criteria of significance in your choice, buy the one which floats your boat. Yamaha do make great quality products, and although most will try to rationalise it as so, buying an amp is seldom truly and objective exercise free of aesthetic or other bias.

How long is the battery life?
After 6 months not very happy:
1. Volume headphone to low.
2. Reverb also change the colour of the sound
3. No bass, mid and trebble button, not easy to get the right sound with 1 eq button.
4. Settings are not consistent, difficult to get previous sound back.
The rest is ok
How's this AMP goes with semi-acoustic guitar ?
Well, and what about this constant hiss noise coming from the amp? Volume has no effect to it. Sound via headphones is the same -with a constant hiss noise.

Anyone know if this can be used as an interface to use amp simuators?
Bought mine after the utter catastrophic Marshall Code. The Blackstar has truly killer sounds, awesome (stable) interface (take note, Marshall), easy to use on the fly. The output of 20w doesn't matter, it's whacked through our p.a anyway and that means I'm not lugging loads of gear to gigs. Bonus.
The USB audio out is a great feature (take note Marshall) and the stereo line out with cab sim through 2 separate channels on a desk gives a brilliant stereo-simulated image.
10/10 Blackstar. Fully featured, practical, hugely versatile, from US 80's rock to beautiful cleans, simple, amazing sound, convincing stereo image and cab sims. Super price point.
2/10 Marshall. Unstable software, reliability issues, long winded operation, transistor radio quality sound, muddy cab sims and if you look at the Marshall Forum, far too many sorry tales of random failures. Marshall support don't reply to genuine questions they don't want to answer.

Obviously, just my opinion but I would go Blackstar over Marshall Code. I’ve owned both but got rid of Marshall Code and keep the Blackstar. Good luck 👍🏻
that is actually tougher to answer than i first thought. The Blackstar is much easier to use if that helps. Sounds.... Not sure.
If budget allows, I would also consider the Boss Katana.

Would you rather have a Super-Wide Stereo sound or plain old mono? All my amps are stereo now and I can't go back to mono. There's a 40watt ID:core V3 too for still like $50.00 less than a Kat 50. This guy was an idiot for not getting the 40watt for like only $20.00 more, it's like he did it on purpose so he could get all Kraptana snobby on it!
