“What they didn’t update on this amp” anything....well the handle and the grill cloth I guess.. and now a new app they won’t support like the insider..

    • @jazzspecialist99
      @jazzspecialist99 3 роки тому

I had a load of troubles with Insider too, after ages of checking I bottomed out that it was a mix of issues, not least of all the Silverlight connection in the software which became unsupported by Microsoft and also combined with challegnes on Mac OS updates which I believe a load of other audio companies struggled with. It was seriuosly frustrating, combined with not enough support from Blackstar!! Still love Blackstar though and v2 is my go to. New software is built on a completely different platform now and much more futureproofed as an 'app' so I am really hoping this is much more stable and will finally unlock all the amps potential now. Keeping the faith!!!

    To all practice amp manufacturers:
-straightforward control panel with MIDS knob
-one good clean channel, one good crunch, one good modern channel, and not 50 emulations of beehives
-softwares that install on your laptop without having to read entire forums
-direct recording at usable sound quality(what the hell Boss?)
-not looking like a purse (what the hell Vox?)
-actual online support that supports you as a buyer and user without being ignored after paying
Optional for a higher price but very well worth it :
    -FX loop
    -looper effect
-drop tuning effect if it doesn't suck
-the most basic drum machine with tweakable BPM

Blackstar Silverline my man. It can do everything the core line can do and more, but while keeping the controls simple. On the amp itself its just a regular amp with 3 band EQ, gain, volume and master volume presence and resonance, with in addition having 2 knobs, one to emulate a certain type of tube and one to switch channels (between warm clean, bright clean, crunch, and 2 levels of OD).
The software is really easy to use, recording quality from either the emulated out jack (into your own software) or USB port (through the blackstar software), and blackstar is good on support, every time i've emailed them I've had response within a few days.

Blackstar's ID Core BEAM never gets any acknowledgment against the new players such as Spark, THR and Katana. It's got Bluetooth and a fantastic stereo presence. Not perfect, but the best I found in this category; all it lacks is the ability to save volume settings with each patch and an app connectivity instead of a computer program.

hi Phil, I have the first version ID Core stereo 40 that I bought used for $100 . sounds great for it's tine size but has just the regular features. i can go stealth mode with a good pair of head[hones or if I want more power i can use an adapter cable from the headphone out into the CD input of my surround receiver with it's subwoofer and the rest of the surround speakers for a deeper and fuller sound. I wish it had external speaker jacks that i will install to drive a pair of tower cabs i will build for it. they wull be 16:deep andwide and 60" tall loaded with 4 speakers i haven't decided which size fron 8" to 12" but the cabs will be the same regardless ported for deeper tone and internal mini amp boards and power supply's for more power. . more louder is more better don't you agree. I bought my original version Blackstar ID Core stereo 40 that has 2 6.5 in 4 Ohm speakers. I got it usd about the time that the V3 came out and although they all have the same basic features but added the Blu Tooth which I don't really need. I had bought it to amp my phone at work to hear my music over the machines at the commercial laundry where I worked at the time plus all the other Karaoke speaker amps that other employees used as well. zI bought mine at my local Music-Go-Round for under $100 and a yeaqr later I got my used Starcaster Strat for about the same price, that I got to rebuild and mod extremely. so for about $200 I have a rig that can be played in stealth mode with the guitar and headphones plugged in together and hear it myself without disturbing anybody else or aai can crank it up with the gain up and anoy all my nosy neighbors. lol .. If ZI want even louder and deeper tones I can go from the earphone out with an adaptor cable into the CD input of my surround sound system receiver and get all the surround speakers as well as the subwoofer cranked up for a full better that Marshall tone as loud as I want orat last until the receiver goes into protect mode and I have to re adjust the input levels to compensate. bear in mine that my Stellarcaster( that's what I renamed it.) sports 3 quad rail humbuckers wired like a %0's Les Paul with coil splits using all audio taper P/P 500k Ohm volume pots and audio taper 500K tone pots the bridge tone also a a 500K P/P to activate the bridge and neck P/U's together regardless of the 5-wat sw. position.. and no I never counted just how many tonal variations I can get with the 6 pots and coil splitting plus the controls and onboard effects in the amp. .. really too many to think about. Even though this is my very first guitar build/mod, I went all out adding and upgrading electronics and other parts and hardware.. replaced the cheap light pot metal trem block with a full size solid brass trem block and roller saddles on the bridge,. Roller string trees and locking tuners. the hand made custom hand made brushed stainless steel pick guard I made for it is loaded with 3 quad rail(and quad coils) Hunbuckers the 3 500K P/P vol. pots , 3 500K tone pots with .047 orange drop caps, a Fender 5-way blade switch and wired it all up like a 50's Les Paul with a third control pot pair added. thecoils off when split are toward the neck and active ones toward the bridge for brighter tone as well. The pick guard being steel is the main ground for the electronics so a little less wiring for grounds including the output jack also mounted in the lower end of the pick guard. wiring all the controls was quite an adventure and took a while to get right so it all works as designed l. it all works well and the number of tones available is staggering. All in the extended control cavity and the pick guard to hold it all. the Titanium nut gives it a brighter tone that compliments the 50's wiring to get the true Strat tones I want and it just needed a little sanding to accommodate the 9-46 string set I used and tuned it to E-Flat standard for the great tone from a killer Strat guitar. the name compliments the custom spray can and airbrushed details of the stars and planets space theme paint job I gave it with a semi gloss clear coat finish. most of the parts wee from Amazon and the tools I bought with the excuse to my wife that they were handy for home projects too were from Harbor Freight. Yup I'm frugal (cheap) I may even add the led's for coil in circuit indicators wired on the opposite unused sides of the P/P switch sections and adding a 9V battry in the control cavity with added switch for them too.. wiring those will take a little figuring for proper voltage with the right resistors. I researched it and know what it needs to work properly.. drill a few holes in the pick guard where i want the lights and there we are blue sparkly lights mimicing stars that tell you what coils are in circuit at any time... lol ... what fun.

@@dariavoinea6343 Don't really need to. For the 20 & 40, buy yourself Blackstar's proprietary FS-11 smart footswitch and use it in conjunction which enables you to select voices, plus toggle their respective effects on and off. That said, with it in manual mode you can dial up the clean tone you want with no effects applied, place the traditional line input acceptable pedals through it, and it'll work as well as any other amp in its class. However the ID:Core series have no separate effects loop for effects pedals, nor a preamp bypass. They're built for a purpose and price point and blow the competition out of the water in that niche IMV.

@@ricarburto7342 I charge a premium for these lessons, and honestly its a higher profit margin. I do have other options for lessons on other days, but some of these students have family/medical situations that don't allow them to leave the house very often.

Ref the USB Mini B cable interface. Blackstar probably stuck with it for uniformity and reliability having no need of USB C transfer rates for purpose. All their amps use Mini B, and Mini B is a physically robust interface. Years ago when I bought my first Blackstar amp., I too thought it an odd choice even in the original ID:Core and ID Series as by then Micro USB was already the norm having been widely adopted as a replacement for Mini USB. Blackstar actually supply a Mini USB able with the more expensive ID Series, but not the ID:Core 10/20/40 series being their cut-throat competitive budget entry level priced product. All that said, it's no biggie really. Once you have a mini B cable, it fits all Blackstar amps, so problem solved, and they're neither difficult to source nor expensive.

The best practice amp ever is the Katana Artist Mk II on the half-watt power setting. Sounds amazing even at "happy neighbor" volume levels.

Blackstar sells an accessory BT receiver...about $24.00 I think...plugs into the Aux in and Voila,
amp now has BT capabilities...the receiver is USB rechargeable and mine lasts about 24 hours between charges...AND it works with most other amps with Aux in's...

Where are manufacturers even getting those USB mini-B connectors anymore? We're at the point where micro-B is still pretty easy to get, but nobody should be using that, either. Manufacturers here us! 😁

I do not understand why it is so hard to have a version with wifi instead of USB? (It is 2021 not 2001) So you can use it with an app on your phone, pad or your computer.

    My camera...
From 2008 features mini usb. Strange that I'd they need to use it on the amp, they didn't include it, and its really not a standard used port anymore? Bizarre design choice imo. Other than that it has a good tone and I think it sounds good just in general.

I have had an Id core v1 for quite a while I really like it I just play it in the house, I don't mind the micro USB at all but I don't like the crappy ISF EQ settings I don't see the point in it being so basic, surely they could put a click knob on with alot of different options if they don't want to put a full EQ on

I have the original V1 10 watter...and a Roland MC GX, and a Mooer Hornet, and a Vox Pathfinder 10...
The Vox and the BS are the biggest of the 4...but when I use my AB-Y box to use them both at the same time (the Vox for the cleans and the BS for the effects )...I can make some glorious noise.
And both amps together weigh less than 25 lbs so if I drive over to a local jam session I take these 2 amps and a Strat in a gigbag...ready to go in 6 minutes :)
