    Thanks Jake! Thanks Megan! I was about to quit a few months ago, but suddenly the 2 seconds of clarity became 5 seconds. So I decided to continue. I've been at this for a year and a half, but I think it has to do with not consciously doing active focus when I'm busy and working. These interviews are really keeping me motivated.

    Megan and Jake, I'd like to leave a comment regarding the use of sunglasses. I live in one of the cataract capitals of the world, Southern California, and I've been at the endmyopia method for two years and have reduced about 3 diopters using sunglasses for virtually all of my outdoor active focus practice. I believe that if we were outdoors in lush green environments, with no painted white surfaces, no shiny polished cars, no window glass, then we would not "need" sunglasses for optimal eye health. I believe that it is excessive reflection of the sun from all of our artificial constructions that necessitate the use of sunglasses. Great interview Jake, thank you for your story Megan. Dawn

      Thank you to all that asked how I am doing :-) last year I went to the optometrist and she told me I was 20/40 and I told her not to bother filling out a script since I was only wearing glasses for driving or if I really want to crisp-up a beautiful landscape, for which I wear -0.5 or -0.75 (pre-endmyopia was -4.25). I stopped practicing active-focus because I'm happy with my vision and like that I don't need correction for close-up (at 65, everyone I know has to use readers!) I've stayed true to my original post and have been wearing sunglasses only around those reflective surfaces, but I'm immersed in human constructions since I live in a highly populated area. So happy! Thank you so much Jake, you led the way to changing my life is such a positive way!

Haven't done endmyopia but am planning to. Myopia doesn't stabilize until early 20s so make sure you see an eye doctor who can help slow the progression of myopia. Unfortunately, my opticians saw my rapid progression but did not even think to suggest use of atropine drops or multifocal lenses to slow them down. You need to do everything you can to prevent it from going above -6. The higher it gets, the greater the risk of serious eye complications.

    another great episode! Thank you Megan and Jake! Here's my theory on astigmatism: I heard that optometrists don't sell toric contacts for low rates of cylinder correction. That would mean it's easier to induce astigmatism when you wear glasses and you end up with less astigmatism if you've started to use contacts full time since early in your "myopic career". Does this make sense?

    • @NoxiousNova
      @NoxiousNova 5 років тому

      I believe this to be true. I never really wore any glasses, just contacts and I got up to -6 with them and never had any astigmatism really. Compared to others with even lower diopters who have worn glasses, many people have worsening of astigmatism over the years of wearing them.

    Did I hear it wrong?

    • @NoxiousNova
      @NoxiousNova 5 років тому +3

      -9 in contacts is the equivalent to -10 in glasses. Since she is wearing glasses now and not contacts, he just converted the contact prescription to glasses prescription. The title is not exaggerated. Actually, with most of these interviews, I noticed the interviewer uses the lower numbers mentioned so as to downplay the improvements.

    • @carmenalvarez488
      @carmenalvarez488 5 років тому

      NoxiousNova ah indeed there’s the difference between contacts and glasses. That explains the discrepancy for the starting correction. But if I heard right, she mentioned a current glasses correction of -6.5, so not sure where the -6.0 in the title comes from.
