  • After using numerous low quality broadcast spreaders in the past, I decided to make the jump and upgrade to a brand new, quality-built spreader from Spyker Spreaders. I have had this for about a month now and I have used it a few times. I wanted to provide an overview of the spreader, including its features, and things I love about it and why I chose this product over my old Scott's Elite Spreader. The company has been around for a long time and has produced a quality made product in this spread that should last me for many years to come. They also provided fantastic customer service. Check them out, you won't regret it!

    They definitely make a good spreader. I need something with the squeeze lever. Love the handle adjustment though.

      After using the scotts for years the lever took some getting used to, but after a few uses I got the hang of it. Hoping it's the last spreader I buy for a long time

      It is great quality! Yes they do make pull behind spreaders, check out their website for more options!

    Great spreader but the accessory of the side deflector is something different. For any little bump it drops. It's held by a spring in the back but the weight is in the front and ANY little bump engages the side deflector and that gets annoying mid pass and you see that the deflector has dropped mid pass. Hopefully they find a fix for that.

    • @TheLawnLover
      @TheLawnLover  Рік тому +1

      I agree. I ended up rigging it with a small bungee cord to keep it up when I want it up. I think they need a stronger spring to keep it up. Thanks for watching!

      @@TheLawnLover Yeah that’s what I was planning on doing as well. It’s definitely a design flaw. Hopefully they can fix it

    Isn't that edge deflector only going to cause a large application of product straight down? Not as well designed to me as others that actually cut off the supply on that side. For the price it should have a better design.

    • @TheLawnLover
      @TheLawnLover  4 місяці тому +1

      No it doesn't drop it straight down, it throws it in front and to the right when the deflector is down and you get nothing to the left to make edge passes. It actually works quite well. Thanks for watching!

    Great video, compared to your other spreaders what is the width of material coming out of the spreader to left to right, also how much time did you save or gain compared to other spreaders? Thanks

    • @TheLawnLover
      @TheLawnLover  Рік тому +1

      Excellent question. The Spyker Ergo Pro has a 12 ft spread width. The Scotts Elite spreader that I was using has a 6 feet spread width. After using both of them, I will say that the Spyker has much more even coverage and a wider spread - which has cut my fertilizing time considerably. Thanks for watching!

  • @ericstinnett9182
    @ericstinnett9182 Рік тому +1

    Great video, I have a question ❓ Do you have problems with product getting on you legs as you are walking behind it, or does it spread more evenly side to side. The reason I ask I just purchase a a spreader, its a Pro grade spreader I've been using Scotts spreader for years, I've never noticed until I use the Pro type spreader how much product get thrown back on my legs and shoes. Looking forward seeing more videos using the Spyder broadcast spreader in action. Thanks

    • @TheLawnLover
      @TheLawnLover  Рік тому +1

      Eric, I am sorry for the delayed response - for some reason YT flagged your comment for review and I just saw it.
      As far as the spreader, I have no experienced throw back onto my legs with the Spyker. It has a powerful throw, but much more side to side and out in front of the unit when it spreads. I know what you are referencing with the throwback on the "pro" spreaders, some of them have issues with throwing product backwards - I haven't had that issue with the Spyker I got. Stay tuned, I definitely plan on doing a review of this spreader come spring time and showing it in action. Thanks for watching, I appreciate your support!

    Looks very industrial. Do the fertilizer companies list the settings for this spreader on their bags like the mainstream ones?

    • @TheLawnLover
      @TheLawnLover  Рік тому +2

      It is very heavy duty and well built. I don't use granular products anymore but I have seen some products start putting spyker settings on their bags.

      @@TheLawnLover you just using Turf Titan liquids now?

    • @TheLawnLover
      @TheLawnLover  Рік тому +2

      @johnrossi6212 Yes, this season I went 100% Turf Titan liquids. The only granular I put down now was gypsum earlier this summer and some granular mole control.

    $399 it’s not perfect and for $399 it should be. No edge guard that puts out less product when deployed. Too much for what it is

    • @TheLawnLover
      @TheLawnLover  3 місяці тому +1

      The edge guard is something that can be added like I did. Even with adding the guard, this comes in less than $500 and for the quality, for residential use I will likely never have to purchase another one for a long time. This is comparable to "pro-grade" LESCO spreaders that I have used when I worked for a commercial landscaping contractor that cost around $600+ For what I use it for and how well it spreads, this is perfect in my book, but I totally understand not everyone will think the same. As long as you find something that you like and works well for you, that is what counts. Thanks for watching!
