I've never been to Daytona and had no idea that theft was that big of an issue. Thanks for sharing these products and ideas. And the riders at the end of the video... wow! Never seen that!
I don't think it's a big issue....but it happens. My goal is to avoid being a victim.
I think the biggest factor in people getting their bike stolen is surprisingly a lot of people keep their key fob on the bike
Great information Cue thanks for the heads-up
No problem 👍
Great points and yes theft at Daytona is huge Rotor Lock is fantastic, Also changing your code for the ECM only you should know what it is people cant start it and the bike is useless ECM, Many times its the Big Wheels that get taken too!
When you say ECM code, do you mean the code to start your bike without a key fob?
Absolutely
Checking your policy is a good thing. Bike covers are a good idea. I was on vacation with my wife and I got a ATV cover for my Ural sidecar motorcycle. Where we were staying there were allot of kids. The cover kept them from climbing on my rig. Urals are magnets for people and I’ve had a couple of instances where I’ve come out of a store and people were sitting in my rig. One time a drunk girl was sitting in my rig and when I approached she said,”Is this your bike?” I said,” Yep”. She then said,”I’m not wearing any panties.” I said,”That’s nice, could you please get off my bike!” I’m a happily married man and I have enough B.S. in my life. Not only is theft a problem but there’s more chance of knuckheads messin’ with your stuff. Too many people out there who never got lumps for their stupid actions.
Wow! Drunk people near your bike....what could go wrong?
Love your videos shipmate! Love it when I find a clean and respectful channel, that has guys who really want to focus on usable products and content! I’m using Volunteer Audio because of your videos!
I really appreciate your comment. From my very first video, I wanted people to feel comfortable playing my videos if there are children around. You won't hear cussing (unless I miss it during editing) or any other "adult" content on my channel. Thanks again!
@@RidingandWrenching Well we appreciate all the work you do to deliver fun videos! Keep them coming!
Great advice. Just heard a stunt rider had his bike stolen in Daytona. It’s sad that we have to worry about these things!
That would really suck. I would probably leave....not sure I could enjoy the rest of the event
Good ideas for protecting your bike. As a Navy veteran and Indian owner, I wish you safe travels. GO NAVY!!
Thank you!
Good info my friend 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Your videos are like easy listening. 👊🏾#goodstuff
Thank you!
I find having a kill switch in a hidden spot helps, also buy a tempered chain and lock and wrap it around a post in case they want to throw it on a pick up truck
Good idea
Nice. I’m going to be during the same time. Look forward to meeting up with you and the other UA-camrs I follow. Going to be hitting up Traveling Tall’s event and I’m sure they’ll be a lot of you over there.
I will be at Talls event too. If you see me, say hello!
Cue, are you all riding to Adamec Harley in St. Aug on Saturday? I live in Jacksonville and would like to meet the group. Thanks.
I'm not sure of the route. I'll find out an post an update by Friday
I use the rotor lock and bike cover when out of town on my bike.
I will definitely have a bike cover this year.
Rotor lock works best on the rear wheel
Really? Why do you say that?
@@RidingandWrenching the front wheel is easy to take off. It takes no time at all so if you have a rotor lock on the front wheel, someone can just take your front wheel off. Taking off the rear wheel is more difficult.
Good morning from Indiana
Hello there!
Back in 98 a few of my buddies and I where there at Hooters maybe for an hour, the thieves pick the bike up and loaded on a pickup truck and off they went. And this was a custom bike.
I've heard similar stories like that. Especially with custom bikes and high value bikes like a Hayabusa.
I use a lot of these items with one exception. I have no interest in an Apple tag or LoJack because IF they get my bike I’d rather not get it back. Nothing is irreplaceable and I’d rather not get a half stripped bike back or one whose ignition system has been ripped out
Agreed. But they are handy to have on your key chain. I have them in my luggage too (when I fly) in case my luggage is lost by the airline
Don't have a expensive motorcycle. That helps.😂😂😂😂
The GPS tracker is probably one of the best stuff deterrence. At least you know you’ll probably get your bike back I have one.
Which GPS tracker do you use?
How is it a deterrence? Do potential thieves somehow know your bike has GPS Tracking and then they just skip over yours?? Do you have signage on the bike that tells potential thieves that the bike has GPS tracking?? Not sure how it actually deters. It surely can help in recovery though.
@@heybruh3274 it immediately alarms when the bike is moved, and you can track the movement to the destination on your phone
@@RidingandWrenching Monimoto
@@heybruh3274 send an alarm to your phone as soon as the bike is stood up. That allows you to track the motorcycle.
I have that same seat lock on my la pera my buddy also had one too we were out riding upstate New York and someone just hit it with a hammer or something and it snapped right off and stole his seat so it’s still technically easy to steal it happened super fast too. A lot of scumbags out there. Last year at Dayton a guy had his whole truck and trailer and bike stolen right at a hotel. Just be very cautious and careful people will be there for that reason alone just to steal bikes. I’m done with rallies and shows I stay away anymore I just like crushing miles doing little vacation here and there. Be safe brother
Dang! It's hard to outsmart a thief.
Nope just remove the brake lever and off they go. I have that and it works
Q, regarding the Apple Air Tag. If you open them up before install and remove the speaker (looks like a watch battery) Thieves will not hear to know one is installed.
Good point! I'll try that
But it will still show up on their phone in a couple of days saying someone is tracking them
Hey Cue what height are your handlebars?
I have 14" bars on my 18 RG. My 23 CVO has stock bars....I think they are 11"
First time I went to Daytona in 1991 5 Fat Boys were stolen from the campground the first night l was there.
Cue I have GPS trackers very accurate ones, cost for a year coverage is about $103.00 I have them on all my 5 Harley’s, I also have AirTags on all of them, but when going to a rally I never take the bikes, I will drive my regular cars, I also put kill switches hidden on all the bikes, so it would be hard to take one of them, I will be getting the rotor locks next, retired law enforcement here, I did a few rally’s helping local law enforcement as sometimes a van or trailer with a few big guys the just pick up the bikes manually and load them and go, they part them out right away, then dump what they don’t want, for the thief’s the rally’s are a candy store for them, guys keep your bikes safe, hopefully you don’t end up being a victim, the insurance won’t give you what the bikes are really worth, so you loose twice,
great feedback! If someone wants your bike bad enough, there isn't much you can do to stop them short of sleeping on your bike.
Good stuff. Indian owners are gonna be coming for your head 😂 Have fun in daytona, wish i could make it!
See you in Pensacola!
If they really want your motorcycle, they take polls, lift it up and take it just keep it insured and hopefully u have good insurance
The problem with the AirTag is it mates with any iPhone around you so all they need is an iPhone and they can pick up your Apple AirTag
That's true. A GPS tracker would be better. The AirTag is good as long as the thieves don't have an iphone
Cue, I installed a GPS tracker on my bike. If it is appropriate, I will share the link to the product .
please do. I've considered a GPS tracker for my CVO. I'm not as worried about my 18 RG getting stolen. It's got quite a few miles....can't imagine anyone wanting to steal that one
I have Autosky gps tracker. You can set a geofence and get notified if it leaves the area. Very accurate showing location. It's like $18 a month for service. Very small and magnetic easy to hide somewhere. Battery lasts awhile before needing recharge.
We have been using the rotor alarm for years. Indian... Absolutely no one wants to steal a GoldWing lol. Yeah out of sight out of mind.
Yeah, we will be at the meet-up, rain or shine.
Good deal! Looking forward to finally meeting you!!!
This is why we can’t have nice things.
Where’s the CVO?
It's still in the garage! Just off to the side getting some work done.
Maybe it'll say Indian! #gold lmaooo
My bike is protected by Smith& Weston...
Only if you sleep on the bike!
If theft is a problem there that’s a great opportunity for say veterans to get paid to watch over your motorcycle say 100 bucks a day and if a veteran looks after 20 bikes he’s going okay see if you can start it up see I’m a ideas 💡 man
And they could even have a parking area there and look after say a hundred motorcycles look into and ask the American hero if there interested in doing something like that 😂god looks you
Four bikes were stolen last year. 20 the year before.
I wonder what contributed to the drop in stolen bikes. Hopefully law enforcement is catching the crooks and keeping them locked up
@@RidingandWrenching. Good videos like this and extra policing
I have a Rotor lock 🔒
This will be my first time using a rotor lock. I haven't had any issues in the past, but I worry about my bike when I stay at hotels.
@@RidingandWrenching yes that’s always a concern. I’m bad about park under the canopy at check in. I know sometimes that’s not possible during large bike events
Police will not help you with air tags even if you locate you stolen bike .In California
That sucks. They are on the side of the crooks
That’s so funny Indian 🇮🇳 that the funniest
Had fat boy stolen in Miami .. not a great filling when u wake up😢😢😢
That sucks! I've never had a vehicle stolen before....hopefully, my Daytona trip won't be the first
What a shame we have to worry about dirt bag Losers who don't want to earn anything for themselves but will take what you have worked so hard for and think nothing of it! Blows my mind.
Agreed. I'd rather not think about things like this, but that's just not reality. That's the primary reason I'm taking my older bike. Hopefully, it won't be as much of a target
