I used Mobil 1 in my Vmax with no issues. Switched over to Rotella T6 and still no issues and found that the bike shifted better. Rotella was half the price of Mobile 1 so I got a cost savings as a bonus. On my Harleys I use Redline for all three holes. 20-50 in the engine, Extreme sheer for the trans and their primary fluid. The motor is quieter and the trans shifts into neutral a lot easier. I buy the Redline box with all three fluids and the correct filter from Amazon.
Been using Mobil 1 for at least 20 years NEVER a problem I have over 400,000 miles on mobil 1 change all 3 every 5000 miles and im using a Jagg reusable oil filter I started using Synthetic oil in 85 when everyone swore i would destroy my engine put over 86,000 miles on a 1985 LOW RIDER in 4 years never a problem
Me too. Over 440,000 with Mobil 1 in my truck
Mobil 1. 2012 Glide Classic. 97k miles.
When I had the tensioners done, we also opened up the top. Looked excellent.
Mobil 1 and amsoil are the best
So I have been a preferred member for Amsoil it appears. A break down of cost. Primary Fluid $12.69, Transmission $15.09, motorcycle oil $12.29. So average is $13.35 each at five quarts. Plus a WIX Oil filter at $18.85 so I will stay where I am at because is not expensive. Thought I would share. Thank you!
Thanks! You can't go wrong with that combination
Over paying.
I’m going to go with Kevin Baxter’s recommendation since he’s a bike builder and engineer - amsoil all the way. 100% do all three every 5,000 miles.
Nothing wrong with that. I change all my oil every 5,000 miles. Occasionally I change the primary more frequently if I participate in a motorcycle rodeo
I second that brother
Ditto, Kevin says Amsoil engines always show the least amount of wear. 2qts of primary, 1 qt of tranny and 4qts of motor oil with filter cost me $108.31. I did however recently install a Barnett extra plate clutch and it doesn't like Amsoil primary oil, I switched to Dexron ATF.
One of the many things I disagree with Kevin is the use of Amsoil. Amsoil is not API approved.
@@dieselsoggydog6299 Have you ever researched why Amsoil isn't api certified?
I tried Amsoil last year for the first time and it is unlike any other full synthetic I put in before, the way the motor sounded before just didn’t sound right so I went with Amsoil after meeting Adam at a bike Rally
He is the guy who knows.
Valvoline also makes a cost effective oil.
Mobil 1 and K&N filters every 5000 miles I like availability and cost for High Quality option. Thanks for your insight. I have used all and they seem very similar sound heat and color at end of cycle. So far so good.
Great video! Thanks for doing the research for us!
I have used Amsoil in my Harley, sportster for the last 21 years never had an issue with the engine or the transmission. Oil tank never gets above 195°F even on the hottest of days. And yes, I do believe it makes the engine run cooler. I did a test one day drove about 15 miles pulled into this bike rally when I first switched to AMSOIL and I realized I could hold on to my oil filter for 2 seconds was quite surprised. The other guy I was riding with you could not even get your hand close to his oil filter without burn your hand. When I first bought that bike, it never ran under 220°F on the hot days, so yes I believe AMSOIL makes it run cooler. AMSOIL is worth it to me not to have issues. also use AMSOIL in my ATV never had an issue. Very impressive riding my hat is off to you sir.
Thank you! Amsoil is a quality oil. I would have no issue using it if were cheaper and easily available.
I have run mobil 1 in every car/bike/lawnmower since 1985. Had a Kawasaki engine on a lawnmower ran 25 years and never used a drop of oil. I’m sold and won’t be changing.
Mobil 1 is the way to go!
Great presentation! The zink in the rotella supposed to be beneficial. I've ran it in my 2002 duramax for 375,000 miles so far
How about the other 2 holes? Any recommendations
@@chemdog70able I use Mobil 1 for everything
Good info. My local Harley dealer, Renegade Harley-Davidson does engine oil and filter changes for only $99 on Saturdays. Considering that low cost, I’ve stopped getting my hands dirty.
I only used Mobil 1 for my Harley and runs fantastic with it. Will continue to use it.
do use mobil 1 vtwin syn in all 3 holes ?
@@lennyevans4724 no just in primary and engine I use red line 75-140 for transmission I change about every 4000 miles. I ride a 2000 wide glide.
@@lennyevans4724 I use in engine and primary transmission gets red line 75-140 oil
@@lennyevans4724 not sure you got this text. I use in the engine and primary, transmission I use red line 75-140 and k&n filters
@@user-eh3oq6fr2o thank you
Mobil 1 for years for all of my bikes. Always available at Walmart $10.95 qt. Also very convenient, works great in all three holes!
Agreed!
You can even add Lucas Synthetic to Mobil 1 to make it a super oil
I use valvoline vr1 conventional. I follow the advice of feuling, fuel moto, cycle solutions, jd cycleworks and the list goes on for ever with performance shops. Ask them what they recommend and run in their personal bikes. They all say conventional. Vr1 is about $6.00 a quart.
I paid $200+ at my local shop. Hadn’t added it up til now. Thank you for this valuable info!!!!
Some dealers charge $500 for an oil change. I can do an oil change for under $100. Over the life of my 18 RG (with 90,000 miles) I have saved over $7,000 compared to some dealerships.
Finally a video i can agree with. Ive been testing different oils myself and i see no need to purchase designer oil. Ive even ran Rotella in my 2006 UC with 140k on it. I currently run Ultra Lube Plus in both bikes and have for last 20k with no issues in Alabama heat.
Great break down. You've convinced me to try mobile 1. Just like you, I've tried various different oils and haven't noticed any differences. Fantastic riding at the end brother!
Mobil 1 has saved me a bunch of money! I usually buy some every time I go to a wal mart. I store it in the garage
I use Motul 7100 20W50 a pure ester oil. You might want to research the types of base oils used in motor oils.
Great video, I've been using Mobil 1 for years, cannot complain, there are some savings buying online vs in store prices, and you gained a subscriber too from that excellent video ✌️
Thank you!! There is nothing wrong with saving a little money. I buy mine at Wal Mart or Autozone
08 fxdl 55k, Rotella 10w 40 in engine(cold climate), Harley in primary, Amsoil or Redline in transmission ( used both now and no noticeable difference).
I have been running Rotella T6 15w40 for several years now and I find that it is the best stuff out there. Rotella can go longer than HD oil and the other stuff because it's made for diesel big trucks. However, it also exceeds most motorcycle manufacturers' requirements. It has a zinc additive the others either don't have or don't use in the amount Rotella does. Diesel motors need zinc, but it also is an excellent protector of the inners in a motorcycle engine. The other plus side to it I really like is that unlike HD oil, Amsoil, Yamalube, Honda oil, and other dealer oils, its available at Walmart so it's easy to get and you aren't paying the HD or other dealer rip-off cost frankly. The HD manual's goal is to get you to buy HD oil frankly. You'll find Rotella does better and is more convenient.
I use rotella T6 also, it also cleans the engine better since diesel engines require more cleaning chemicals because diesel engines rely on oil pressure more than any other engine
Isn't T6 a 5w-40 CJ motor oil with a MA2 gearbox oil specification?
@@feloniousmonk3049 Shell Rotella T6 is available in both 15W-40 & 5W-40. My suggestion would be to run the Shell Rotella T6 15W-40 in Harleys that are totally air cooled and the Shell T6 5W-40 in the newer Harleys that are partially water cooled.
Lucas for street bikes and Motul 300V for track bikes. There are several others that are pretty darn good too, including Mobile and Repsol.
Solid information to help a rider out. Great job, Cue.
Thanks Eric!
Just found your channel. Very informative, and this particular video was great!!! Nice to have all the research done and the information grouped in one video. Gonna have to try that Mobil 1! Thanks..
Thank you for the feedback!
Preferred Customer pricing with Amsoil, Its under $13 a quart or get the oil change kit for $75.85. If you want to know which oil is better then take samples and have analysis done.
Mobile One has served me well from idling on Main Street Sturgis to 2000 mile trips for more years than I care to admit. I am a believer in 3000 mile changes on an air cooled engine though.
I'm hoping to do Sturgis next year. That will be my first
I worked at an oil company blending oil for the marine, logging and mining industries. Shell Rotella or any diesel motor oil has more lubricity, detergents and stabilizers than oil for gasoline engines, in order to combat heat and scrub contaminants out of the engine that form under the conditions of a diesel engine. Good thing Harley recommends or authorizes the use of Rotella in their engines, as it is a budget -friendly, widely available alternative. This won't necessarily work in all Harley engines however. The oil formulation has to be compatible with all the materials in the engine so that it does not eat or prematurely wear components as much as it could help protect other components. Older Harley engines or other manufacturers that use different materials (metallurgy/composites/alloys/rubber/plastics, etc.) in the engines, may not be compatible, so check your owners manual/ research before use. The best way to think of it is like pouring an acid in the engine vs using the best thing for your particular engine. The wrong formulation of oil with the wrong additives will allow bad things to happen fast, so it's best not to pour non-approved oils in there, unless of course, you have a big enough budget to be the guinea pig that runs catastrophic engine experiments for everyone else.
To find compatible oils, learn how to read the labels and understand the standards and additives. You will always find the manufacturers' brand name oil has a generic twin or alternative somewhere. It all gets blended in the same factories and it's just the color of the jug, the label or the brand name that changes. Same goes for coolant. I used to have classic BMW's, and their branded coolant was the same as Mazda, but one brand cost 3x the other and Walmart and a few other big box stores had even cheaper compatible branded coolant.
He said he was going to "use" it in the" primary" not the engine
@@eddiealvarez5493 The "primary" is the engine.
Nice very educated advice from a very informative source! Thanks!
Thank you!
I made the same decision ✔️ thank you for giving me the peace of mind on this oil.
Mobil 1 is the way to go for me!
You and King George looking amazing on that course! So proud of you and how far you've come as a rider. As a man of your age, it gives me confidence that with consistent practice, that I can get to that level one day as well. 💪
I'm only 25 years old!! 😂😂
@@RidingandWrenching Cue I think you have your numbers flopped... common problem with people our age. Keep up the great riding and the wonderful content my friend!
Mobil 1 V-Twin for my HD engine. I’ve used it for years and I also think it’s a very high quality oil. You have to look at the additive package to really understand the difference. Thanks Cue!
Good point! I need to learn more about what the additives do for the motor.
@@RidingandWrenching Read my reply above, and if you really want to delve into the additive packages, it doesn't get any better than Mr. Lake www.youtube.com/@themotoroilgeek
The last few years I've been going with Castrol Power1 V-Twin 20w-50. Very highly rated and can be scored on sale at Amazon quite frequently.
I'll keep an eye out for Castrol
Gotta say, Ran Mobil1 in my prior bikes, when I finally joined the Harley club I initially went with Syn3. Then did more research after watching this vid. Last fluid change, back to Mobil1. Go with what you know.
Mobil 1 has been good for me. I use it in all of my bikes: 18 Road Glide Ultra 97,000 miles: 23 Road Glide CVO 12,000 miles, 22 Road King 2,000 miles
I've been using Red Line for years and have had good luck with it. I'm impressed with your slow riding skills.
Thank you! I am still a "work-in-progress"
Redline is a Group 5 Diester oil, an open cell molecule, which attracts water? Good for a weekend of Racing, But not a 5K cross country trip?
Gonna start using mobil 1 oil. Thanks for the information.
Thank you for the video Cue...up to today, i was using Syn 3 from Harley. I see the mobile 1 also recommends use for the primary and transmission as well.
That's what I have been using on all of my bikes. It's a great oil and a great price if you do your own oil changes
Klotz or Redline. Group V oils hold up the best in the heat a V Twin creates . It flows much quicker also when you fire up the bike on those mornings in the 30's but warms up into the 70's in the afternoon.
Great additive package for a shared sump system like Indian, Victory and Yamaha V-Twins.
2007 flhtc changed transmission oil to red line few 1000 miles later bearings go down 🤷🏼♂️
@clellanhensley5620
It's a HD....not the oils fault
Thanks for the info. Switching to Mobil
Great video, based on actual experience and not just opinion. Went with Amsoil last time in my 2011 fxdc due to all the hype but like you, did not notice any loss of heat. It's also hard to find being only available thru private distributors mostly out of their homes. And as you mentioned It's $$$$$. I'm 73, don't ride hard, just cruise but enjoy taking care of my bike. I believe most important more than the brand is changing it regularly. Next change I'm headed to Walmart for Mobile 1.
Mobil 1 has been great for me! I think you will like it
I was using Shell Rotella T6 Blue synthetic bottle in my Honda ST1300 for many years and so may have..
I have always used the Mobile1 VTwin in the motor, trans and primary for years and never had any issues and I ride 20k+ miles a year.
We are in the same situation! I use Mobile 1 for all of my bikes. Zero issues
So You actually use Mobil 1 V Twin oil for all reservoirs in your Harley Davidson? Interesting! I've always wondered why Harley is the only Motorcycle requiring different lubricants for engine, primary and transmission 🤔
I runs Mobil 1 because it’s easy to get if penzoil 10-40 was available that would be my choice but Mobil 1 is a great oil
I’ve been using T6 in my 01- Sportster 1200 and I’ve felt comfortable for awhile. I only use mobile 1 in my clutch side and great results in general. I wish I had a tempt cage to see if a minor difference might happen
Good video bud!
Thanks, this is good research and instructional vid.
Absolutely Amsoil all the way and yes I do all three holes every 5,000.
Excellent review ❤love it , I’ve been using Amsoil on my street glide and I love it compared with SYN3 I’ve noticed the Amsoil takes longer to get darker vrs Harley oil ! I do changed every 5,000 miles
I've been very consistent with 5000 mile oil changes. It's probably not necessary to change the transmission oil so frequently, but it's a habit
For primary oil I've ran Dextron II transmission fluid for the last 15 years in my 2000 FXST. It's meant for wet clutches and is used in 4wd transfer cases to lubricate thr chains. I believe but can't prove it but it does seem to keep my stator cooler also.
I have moved away from Harley badged products largely due to availability and price. With my work schedule I have to make a spcial trip to the city to buy them.
After chasing lifter noise on cold starts on my M8, I switched from Amsoil Vtwin to Valvoline VR1 racing oil which is formulated for push rod flat tappet engines. My Top end is quiet now on start up. I had lifters replaced twice and still had cold start noise. Rocker arm clearances were also checked and were within spec. After switching the Valvoline made a huge difference. Feuling recommends Valvoline on their builds.
flat tappets in an m8?
I used Mobil 1 in my sportster but have used Spectro oils in my Softail and Tourers. I have found the Spectro oils better in the transmission and am happy with the better performance of synthetic oils compared to mineral oils for the engine. After a lot of research over the years I have found that the best oil to use is the one you are happiest with!
exactly!!
Thanks for the comparison. I used natural oil in all three of my bikes which are M8s. I use specific primary and transmission fluids based upon a recommendation from a Harley Master Tech. I find the bikes shift easier when using this combination plus it's much less expensive than running full synthetic oil in all three holes. Ride safe and enjoy. 👊👍✌️
Thank you!
Good information. Dig your’66 as well!
Thanks! Most people don't get the year right...I have owned that car for about 20 years. I'm the second owner
Great video Cue. I use Amsoil. I purchased an annual membership for $20 that gives me a discount for $13 a quart plus free shipping for purchases over $100. Amsoil is also 100% synthetic where the other oils are rated as full synthetic. Prior to using Amsoil, I used Motul until they got crazy and start asking $23 a quart. Like you, I do my own oil changes.
Doing your own oil changes is the only way to go. I don't trust anyone else to care for my bike as much as I do.
I've been using Mobile 1 in my bikes HDs, big cube aft market v-twins, ZX-14. Been happy with it. Some HD mechanics have told me that the synthetic oil will cause gasket seep. I haven't seen that. Been on bikes for 54 years so I've tried a few products. As for oil, synthetic is the way to go.
I’ve used Mobile one for 30 years. I’ve took an engine apart after 127,000 miles and it was clean as a pen. I use it everything I have. I’m 68 years old the whole time I’ve run I’ve never had any kind of engine failure due to lubrication
Lucas every service, every hole no ticking cracking or anything when you shut it off.
Picked up Amsoil for $15.95/quart. Can generally find it at bike repair/service shops.
That's a decent price, still 40% higher than Mobil 1. The only way I've seen a price that good is signing up for a subscription with Amsoil.
I use Syn3 and use it in the primary too it seems to make finding neutral much easier and shifting also.
I've used Syn3 for all 3. No issues other than going 30 miles to the dealer to buy it
Great video Cue! I was running Amsoil in my 2017 HD and was getting some lifter noise at startup. On a recommendation, I switched to the HD Syn3 and the lifter noise stopped. I can't say which oil is better, but that's what happened for me. Thanks again!
agreed! Pick the one that is best for your riding style and change it on a regular basis.
Ben is the reason I use T4 in the primary. But mostly due to cost as I change it more often with slipping the clutch heavily with the amount slow speed training I use the motor for.
Same here! I'll be putting it in my RK first. Other bikes soon to follow
You do you man. I change my primary and transmission every other oil change. But I change my oil every 3000 miles. I’m down here in Louisiana. All the oil in the primary is, is a wash. The engine oil is the most important. Transmission is not hard on oil either. There’s no need to do a 3 hole flush every oil change.
Agreed. I could probably extend the interval on my transmission. I change the primary more frequently due to rodeos and slow speed practice
I ran Amsoil for years. I have a 2015 Ultra Limited Low that I bought brand new, but recently had to have some engine work. I was complimented on the condition of the interior of the engine. 3 hole change 4-5 thousand miles. I have a used 2017 Road Glide Special that had 4 thousand miles on it. The previous owner was not kind to this bike. I have used Syn3 and the new H-D heavy synthetic primary oil in the trans and primary. I also added the oil cooler fan and the Screaming Eagle Oil Pump. Bike has run like a champ since. I would tell you also that Mobile 1 and Syn3 are pretty much the same oil. Amsoil is usually the most expensive off the shelf by me at $25. Syn3 is about $20. Mobile 1 might be $16-$18 by me.
Been using Schaeffer’s synthetic 20w50 for years and it’s been great
I haven't heard of that one. Personally, I think regular service intervals matter more than the brand of oil. As long as I have a quality oil, I'm searching for the best price
Great video, Sir. I started the Harley oil, and then when i did my own services, switched to Amsoil. Amsoil may be the best, but thanks to covid inflation , I then went over to Mobile 1. Very happy with Mobile 1. Its affordable and readily available nearby. In the end, as long you change oil at reasonable intervals, i think its all good. The prices out there are crazy.
Sounds like we followed the same path. As long as it's a quality oil, I'm looking for the best price and availability
I’ve been using Lucas in my primary, tranny, & engine for over 30yrs. I have 2 shovelheads, 1 evo, 1 twin cam, & a Milwaukee 8. I swear by it
I have a axx load miles in on harley. Have used Moble 1 syn. Never a issue ever. I have a '86 evo with 113,000 miles. Still going. My new 2021 electraglide .... moble 1.
I agree totally. Ive use the Syn hd oil, amsoil, and mobile 1. The one ive also used is lucas. Its even cheaper than mobile 1. Some mechanics recommend using the thicker oil mixed in with the primary. Ive have found them all to work well. For me, mobile 1 and lucas are readily available. Oil change at my dealership is over 400. I do it myself naturally 😊
What's up Cue! I've used Syn3 and mostly Mobil 1 V twin in my 2006 Roadking for the engine.. Currently using Amsoil Synthetic in the 2019 SGS. I order Amsoil Synthetic online and pay $12.89 per quart. Also using the HD Heavy Synthetic gear oil in the primary and transmission. Very pleased with the results of Amsoil. I also change engine oil every 5000 miles. Change primary and transmission every 10,000 miles.
That's a great price for Amsoil. I got ripped off by my local dealership.
I use Amsoil, and I order from their website. A three hole kit including oil filter is about $100.
My bikes run bigtime cooler with the Amsoil. I use the 20-50 in my twin cam and 10-40 in the Evos. I have used them all, Amsoil hands down
I bought Motul 7100 10W60 for my Moto Guzzi tt85. It was $20 quart online with AF1 racing website. Oil is cheap compared to getting engine work done. An extra $8 a quart isn't too bad for namebrand fancy schmancy oil. I intend on keeping my bike a loooong time.
I get amsoil for 16-18 a qt at my local shops. Engine oil is mike 16 and some change and the primary and trans I think is 17 or 18
I have been using Harley Syn 3 in my engine and their new synthetic gear oil in the transmission and primary, so far it’s been fine, I also change my own oil. I only have 57000 miles on 2014 CVO limited, I have a ways to go to catch you
Great points!
Thank you!
Thanks Cue ! Weather is getting better here in NorCal, hope it's good wherever you are ! Very wise to change oil often. I researched HD oil and it's made by Sonoco (Texas) and they also have heavy duty CK-4 Diesel engine oil and industrial oil to list a few. I'm old, old-fashioned, and cheap lol so I use stock HD oil mostly because I live in a moderate year-round temperature zone. I would consider synthetic if I was as good as you are at rodeo riding.
I wish I were better at rodeos! I'm still a work-in-progress
@@RidingandWrenching Well Cue, I still believe in the little engine that could so that shows you where I'm at lol
Wow! You are a skilled rider!
Thank you! I was not the rider in all of those clips though! The first 2 were police officers. I was the rider in the third clip. I have been training for the last few years. Maybe someday I'll be as good as these guys!
I ran the Harley Syn in my 2015 Street Bob that had a Stg 4 in it. When I bought my 2020 SGS that has the M8 the motor (with just a stg. 2) seem to stay hotter longer after it was shut down. I move to Mobil 1 and have been happy with it. I also added a Feuling oil pump and camplate. Oil is the life blood of the motor and since I ride fairly hard..my bike has been tricked out as a performance bagger , I change all 3 holes every 3000 miles.
Some say transmission fluid doesn't need the frequent changes, but I've changed mine every 5,000
just to let you know I enjoy your video on oil I personally have been using Lucas high performance
V tiwn haven't had any issues I was thinking about going to Mobile One. But I might just stay with the Lucas because it's almost is easy to get your hands on if you're out of town on a trip and you need to add a little but thank you for sharing and have a safe ride every time God bless
Thank you! Mobil 1 is easy for me. It's at Walmart and Autozone. Just a few miles from my house!
Thanks for this. I'm interested in your thoughts on the "super-premium" 5 micron HD oil filter versus standard HD or other alternatives. My reading has shown that the 5 micron may not be recommended for my XR1200 because it actually restricts oil flow too much.
I am working on a video comparing oil filters. It should be out soon.
@@RidingandWrenching Excellent.
Wow.. interesting take on the oils.. like you, I change often but I only go 2500 miles. But for me, since I’ve got a various different bikes.. I’ve found Motul as a better choice..
I've been doing 5000 pretty consistently. I think the interval is best determined by the type of riding that you do. 5000 is just a recommendation from Harley
Excellent information about oils for HD bikes 🎉
Thanks for watching!
I been using that castrol oil for motorcycles. But I stick with the 80/140 in primary
I run the Mobil 1 synthetic hypoid gear oil in my gear box 75w-140 grade. A gear box should receive a gear oil. That stinky smell of it is all the slippery additives that make it superior to regular motor oil in there. HD recommends 20,000 miles in my 2018 Softail Sport Glide gearbox oil changes, and 10,000 mile primary oil changes. Proper gear oil in a transmission just doesn't break down that easily, especially when the bike just doesn't make that much HP.
When people start telling me a certain brand is best, I ask them how many engine failures they know of because someone used a certain brand.
Its not always about failures tho. For me I like Amsoil in my bikes which are wet clutch dirt bike transmissions. The reason? They simply shift better, noticeably better and the clutch has better action over any other oil i have put in them.
Yamaha dirt bike transmissions have a history of being kind of knotchy and hard shifting, if oil helps that im all for it.
Good cost saving information
Switched to Mobil 1 V-Twin on my 17 w/HD filter. Quited engine noise down. Some have said Mobil 1 breaks down faster than the others.
I haven't seen any issues with my 18 which has 90,000 miles on it.
Good info - thanks !!
Rotella T4 diesel oil is good stuff. I have used it a lot on motorcycles.
Riding in the kickstart days took some time to get everybody started at the same time. I kept mine in tune so it always started.
Oh wow! Didn't think about that. I can see that being an issue. I'm guessing you had to be more "in tune" with your bike....modern bikes make it easy.
I walked through the Harley museum and spent a lot of time just trying to understand how they worked! Where is the brake? what's that lever for? Some bikes had no(or very little) suspension.
I made this comment on your Bikeriders video but it went on your oil video.
@@MrGus4440 all good. I figured that was the case
Great information ✌🏾
Thanks!
I appreciate this video. My 110 screamin eagle did run quiter on the top end with amsoil over the syn 3. Amsoil is cheaper if you are a part of the preferred customer program at 20 bucks a year. I have always wondered about the Mobil 1 because again like you said, price. and availability are great, and with the flo reusable oil filter i now use. Next trip to Walmart ill give Mobil 1 v twin a try. Thanks!
I have about 20 quarts of Mobil 1 in my garage. I keep it "in stock" by buying oil anytime I go to Wal Mart. I usually take everything they have on the shelf
look at Schaeffer, great oil, George Bryce at Star Racing swears by it, I use their Primary oil as well, although I use Redline Heavy Shock gear oil
Great tip!
On my bike I’ve changed the oil every 1000 miles and it’s synthetic for on more what oil costs it’s cheap insurance I also change the gear oil at the same time with mine being a cvt transmission it’s smart to do it
I use mobile 1 in my ZX14R. WORK GREAT 👍
I can speak from direct experience and tuner of my own bikes. I have a 2014 ZX-14 and a 2021 H2 both running Amsoil and it absolutely makes the bike smoother and shifts are even better. My H2 has 260whp and absolutely rips. I believe I gained 3-4whp by switching over. My 2022 Hayabusa only has exhaust, filter and hasn't been tuned yet, but runs Amsoil after break-in.
I run it in my tow boat and the drive is smoother and the top end rpms raised by 250rpm. I am not an Amsoil fan boy and use Valvoline EP HM in numerous vehicles and work vans. I service three bikes, two boats, and 8 vehicles. I do not run Amsoil in the vans and SUV. I have Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in my SRT Jeep and the rest have Valvoline Extended Performance High-mileage, even when they are not all high mileage, but because of the additive and wear packages. But filters make a huge difference in oil pressure and flow also. The three best filters are the Purolator Boss, Fram Endurance and Amsoil EAO. I can link the video testing, if you like.
But the bikes for certainly run cooler and smoother from factory oil. Also, I will never use Mobil1 in any vehicle again after they reformulated and changed their filters to semi-synthetic filter media and oil is nowhere near what it used to be. It was cost cutting made by Mobil1. 15 years ago was a different time than now.
Might be worth trying a couple oil changes of Amsoil and see what you think. I would be interested what you thought.
Hey Cue I’ve always use HD oil the regular 50 for almost 30 years and never had an issue. But I don’t due 5000 miles intervals i due 3000 miles. I’m In Florida and summers are brutal and traffic lights that last 5 minutes and then some I just think it destroys the properties in oils. And yes I’m impressed with progress you’ve made ridding the officers coarse.
Thank you! I agree the standard oil is perfect for the majority of riders. My extreme use is primarily motorcycle rodeos and practice for rodeos. I use all of my bikes when I practice
I’ve ran Amaoil but always trying to save money whenever possible. I am going to try the Mobil 1 15w50 synthetic in the engine it’s 5 qts for $30 has plenty good reviews also. Also was planning to go 15w40 diesel oil in primary next time. I use Chevron Delo in my Kawasaki concours 14 and it runs excellent I may try it in my roadglide also. Great video ride on 👍
90,000 miles and counting. Mobil 1 is the way to go for me. The best bang for the buck.
Synthetics are always better. All are excellent, brand really doesn’t matter anymore. Changing it at regular intervals is more important than brand . While under factory warranty I use their brand and let them do it. I just had a SE Crate 135 installed into my 2022 Roadglide Limited. They put in their straight 60 weight for the breakin for 500 miles then they said bring it back for the synthetic 20W-50.
Choosing the best oil is like choosing the best tooth paste. Bottom line is that it really doesn't matter as long as you change the oil on a regular basis
Got my oils done Sept./23 in Ontario, Canada, and cost me over $300 ( Incl. chrome looking filter, and Synthetic oil ). I almost shit myself!! That's why I'm here!😮💨
I just did my 500 mile oil change in my Road Glide, & I used Amsoil because my dad uses it in his 3 motorcycles. I think I’ll be trying Mobil 1 next oil change & I’ll just have to hear my pops complain about it 😂😂… He’s also going to Canada in May so I’ll say a prayer for you both ✊🏽✊🏽
Thank you! I'm hooked on Mobil 1. Unless something better comes up at a lower cost, there is no way ill switch to something different.
I’ve tried just about all of them. I really haven’t noticed that much of a difference to swear by any of them. I’m currently running Bel Ray Semi-Syn. It’s about $12.00 a qt and its API Cert.
Same here, but I noticed Bel-Ray Semi-Syn is the only oil my valvetrain seems to like. No top end chatter.
I’ve used Mobil 1 on all my cars since the 80’s before was only available at the gas stations now you can get it anywhere but on my 2019 street Bob I’ve been using Red Line oil on all 3 holes since I did my first oil change and bike feels smoother but stick to whatever works for you 🤘😮💨
I agree. Changing interval is more important than the brand.
@@RidingandWrenching yes sr and can’t go wrong with any synthetic 😮💨
Thanks for the information, what are you using for oil filters?
I am currently using Harley oil filters, however that will change soon
I also do 3 hole changes every 5000 miles with Amsoil and a HD oil filter
