Big shocker that the credits for a New York based financial company would primarily be focused on northeastern chains 😂
I'm in middle size town in west Texas and can definitely make use of these new benefits
Tho that's basically every major financial company 🤣
I am impressed that your Mandarin is so good. Cantonese 👍 Huge bonus. BTW I enjoy your other channel where you do a deep dive into the Chinese culture.
America does not run on Dunkin
Lol
Run on crime😂
Waddles on Dunkin...
Funny story: When I worked in the Loop in Chicago, the finance and attorney crowd grabbed coffee primarily at StarBs next to the CBOT. The non-profit workers went to Dunkin next door. One colleague said she was a Dunkin girl because Starbucks was too corporate. I worked for a non-profit but broke rank because Starbucks was 2 cents per ounce cheaper and didn't use Styrofoam. 🙃
If they changed groceries and dinning to 5% then maybe it’ll be worth
They could nurf the 3x on airlines and bump up the grocery/dining multiplier.
@@Polostar79 Bro I wish. 3x on airlines is an outlier. Agreed.
I WANT to be able to justify gold because I like the look of the white gold card, but I would just be chasing after a lifestyle I don't have
Exactly. I would 100% utilize the $120 uber credit, the $120 Grubhub credit and the $84 Dunkin credit, I use all 3 every month. I’m short $1 of the annual fee however, so not worth it
@@Dev2088-e3j Yep, because at that point you're paying a dollar to use a card with an okay reward structure comparable to a decent free one, and if you stop utilizing any of those credits for any reason (boredom with Dunkin, not wanting to eat out for a month), then you're paying more. Might as well use free cards for the rewards and not be locked into a lifestyle.
i do like the dunkin perk ngl haha but not a big fan of annual increase😅
ive eaten a lot of dunkin in my days, but almost always in the form of a credit
The Cheesecake Factory clip was the perfect opportunity to insert the Boondocks clip where Huey is a waiter and tells his customer that everything on the menu will kill you.
Wow get this. I went to my local Five Guys and I thought the guy charged me three times because the receipt wasn't printing and I swiped three times all approved. A girl comes over and says we don't take American Express, I go what, but you have a big promo with Amex.
Haha
i've had this card for close to 3 years now and if it actually does jump to $325, ill be cancelling it. there's not enough value for the yearly fee. adding dunkin'? i hate coffee and 5 guys? not one anywhere close to me. sad to see amex going this route honestly
Yeah…I’ve already decided to cancel. The card was barely worth the fee today.
Live in Japan. Unhappy because the only value I get is 4x on restaurants. Everything else is, I believe, US only -- which does me no good.
Hi Ben, AMEX just released the updated Gold Card information on their site this morning Thursday July 25th 😃
After 18 years, it’s time to sign off for Amex Gold.
Yeah I did last month
The annual fee increase barely keeps up with inflation since 250 in 2018. Stop complaining that the real fee has decreased since 2018 and the new fee is almost the same as 250 in 2018
@@Fcg2005-lj8rsbut that’s not the only reason. If you’re me and you live in the mountains… my closest Dunkin’ is 20 miles away. Closest Resy Restaurant is more like 40 miles. I’m not in the sticks either - I’m 90 minutes outside Los Angeles. And at the end of the day - it’s not even a “credit”, you’re just slowly earning back your own money.
I also ask for a retention offer…that alone make it worth it for me
Join the military. No more fee😂😂
Bro speaks better Chinese than me
Resy Credit...
A direct ordered salmon salad dinner from my favorite Little Italy is $26.
But they don't have Resy.
The same dinner with a larger piece of salmon from a quality downtown gourmet restaurant is $36.
Order for pickup, and the $10 Resy credit makes up the difference.
The restaurant is near the post office, so I'm really not spending more on gas.
They ruined the good card ridiculous fee and lame as hell credits.
Gonna drop the Gold this year and just move to the green. The Gold credits have been a pain for me to use anyway, I'm not eating out like I used to, and my nearest grocery store is Walmart so I can't even get the 4x on groceries. Green still has 3x on restaurants and I can use the Clear credit. Might even drop the Platinum since I'm not traveling as much anymore, plus that's the next one that will get revamped and the AF will go up.
Will be keeping the gold and the savor one. Travel tip - flights are 3x on gold and hotels 5x on savor in cap one portal. This is the best travel duo for foodies
We dont do Dunkins in Seattle..Lol
Is there a sign on bonus ?
I have no shake-shack near me but fiveguys 1min drive lol
Same! A win for me lol
I called AMEX to cancel and they offered to waive the fee if I spend $2000 in 3 months. I said done! I pay all my monthly bills with the card anyway! Car, Insurance, utilities, Food, gas etc.
Question. Do I have to make a reservation with Resy or just eat at a restaurant that offers resy even if I don’t have a reservation?
Just cancelled my rosegold amex and switched to the CO venture card. Amex is getting greedy for sure.
They did offer me a 40,000 retention if i spend 3k in 3 months. But after being with them for 18 years... the 40k doesnt justify it. Its gotta be like 100k or something
No one ever mentions the "offers" that you can get through numerous vendors and merchants. I got $40 back just for being a UA-camTV subscriber
Not exclusive to gold, that is why
I can definitely use the DD credit so I’ll keep the Gold card for at the very least another year. I’m 5 years in with it and I get a ton of points out of it while also being able to use all the credits.
I have this card and live in Australia. We have five guys in Sydney and Melbourne. Can I use that credit when it come in force? Thanks
Will I need to make a reservation through Resy to make it work or can I just go to the restaurant and use the card to trigger that credit?
Amex gold holders can you buy gift from a grocery store like apple or Amazon gift cards?
Do you need to use points before canceling?
Not if you have another card with an Amex point balance.
But is it worth it for "everyday" spending
I appreciate the card for the multipliers not the credits. The credits are either worthless to me or a nice addition. All I care about is the multipliers so I can transfer the points out to travel partners. I’m sorry for those who are chasing credits. Just my opinion.
Question about Max Rewards. Does one Max Rewards account work for your authorized users and employee cards?
Hey Ben,
I jus had my gold renewed last month for 250$ does this mean ? I will be charged 75 more in coming months?
No, you should be good for a year and you should get the new benefits too
@@TheCreditShifu well that's good to hear
I still don’t understand how the resy credit would work???!?
I use the grub hub and Uber because I can pickup. I don’t eat at most of these restaurants. I do use the grocery and restaurant points so I am at least keeping it this year. I had just down my platinum to gold. Resy is useless to me. I love Amex but am looking in to switching to Csr.
The new credits are not worth anything for me. If it wasn't for the fact that I get AFs waived for being military, I'd probably considering closing it. But I take issue with the fact that AmEx can just increase everyone's AF by $75, as cancelling the card in response will hurt your credit score.
How about the Amex Green Card. It also offers 3X in dining. You mentioned towards the end Capital One and Chase. However, I think the Green Card is often overlooked. :)
It has $150 AF, while Savor One has none, and it works worldwide, including groceries
@@yurig2530 I transfer my points from my Amex Green Card to my Skymiles account and earn towards a free flight. The $150 is nothing after taking the miles. I flew to Cancun last May on first class thank you to those Green Card points. Oh, and I use Amex Blue Preferred card for groceries, it gives me 6X.
There are over 3x as many 5 guys as there are Shake Shacks, that alone should be a net benefit
Previous AF was also $75 less, at $175
I don’t use any of those vendors. Totally not worth it for me.
How can I downgrade the card and maintain access to my MR points? I never use any of these credits and I’m not going out my way to eat stuff to justify the card.
Gift card purchases don't count, same with resy
downgrade to Green card with annual fee or flat out apply for the blue cash everyday-0 fee. It earns MR points and will keep your MR points active.
The restaurant formally known as Domino's! I got it..🤣😂
The thing is that I do live in a city with about half a million people and none of the eleven restaurants (some of them are the same restaurant with multiple locations) on Resy restaurants are ones that I wouldn’t just be going out of my way to go to just to use the credit.
I also tend to travel to national parks which tend to be in more rural areas.
RESY and Dunkin are worthless to me. I’ll be asking for a retention bonus to make up for the loss in value.
Same And if I don’t get it I’m cancelling.
At $195 yeah it was worth it. At $250 barely worth it. I was going to cancel after the increase to 250. AMEX kept giving good retention offers, so I stayed. Most recent offer they gave me 5000 points and no AF for the year. My AF is coming up in Dec. I've never used any of these benefits. I tried to use the Shake Shack one. And it took two months both times to get a statement credit. At $325 it's not worth it for 4x points. Plus most restaurants now charge at least a 3% fee just to use the card to pay.
Unfortunately in Brazil, Bradesco and Santander, which control the AMEX brand, have turned American Express into a 'dead' card with an expensive annual fee. AMEX really needs a new partnership to make the card good again.
My year was on july 3rd but they dont charge me until august 9th so i have to pay the new fee instead of the 250 when my first year ended
Probably not, it seems for current cardmembers the cut off is oct 1st 2024
That Prince reference got my like and subscribe.
Dude.. insane Mandarin and Cantonese. Do you have any advice on getting started learning either one of the languages?
The resy credits and five guys change make it much easier for me to spend the annual fee organically. Too bad I'm stuck in PUJ apparently. If I can't get it by next month, I might just have my wife get it, but that would delay my plans to get the platinum. Very frustrating.
ugh.. credits credits credits... that's why Amex does not work for me. I live in the suburbs and don't do uber (eats), doordash or grubhub. I either cook or go out.. and if I ever go out, it would just be 1x or 2x a week. Venture X for me in as much as I want to get that Amex Plat or Gold. CSR would have been good but that $250 EAF is still a pill to swallow if I only travel 1x or 2x a year...
I have the gold card. How can i get the white one? Do i need to apply for a new card or can i replace my current gold for this limited one?
Just call and they will issue the white gold.
The Dunkin Credit and Resy makes the annual fee no problem if you already spend there. Great video!
I am wondering if you can just load $7 on to your Dunkin Donuts card on their app every month using the Amex Gold card to get the $7 credit? That in a way would make it way easier to use and many would benefit from that.
If I’m ready this correctly, doubt it. You’re saying this would help you stack the amount and have it grow, instead of having to use it every month?
@@fma891 Yeah I am just curious to see if that will work. It would help use the full $7 and not come up like 50 cents short or something. Then the 50 cents can roll over to the next month.
@@fma891 "Use your enrolled Card to pay for purchases at Dunkin’ locations or through the Dunkin’ app." According to the wording from American Express it looks like loading $7 on the app may work. I will test it soon and find out.
don't care much for the changes although I'll miss Shake Shack. However, idk how they thought Dunkin was a good match fir the American Express brand
Back in the day lost my virginity in Middletown NY🤣
The dunkin credits is useless for me. All California locations are too far for me. I feel like they should have added other more usable credits added to that credit.
I'm happy for the resy credit though
Paying 350 to force yourself to use that money at specific vendors is a weird concept.
Wow I was interested because I have no Shake Shack or Cheesecake Factory anywhere close but do have Five Guys and a Resy restaurant. But then I went to both Five Guys and the Resy restaurant and they were both awful so this is a hard pass. Glad I have the now discontinued $95 Savor card with no credits to manage and soon $230 cheaper.
There's a Shake Shack across the street from my office but no Five Guys anywhere near me lol
Is the 4x on groceries going away?
Fortunately my $250 annual fee just posted last week, so I’m holding on to this card one more year. I don’t shop at Dunkin’ Donuts here in Colombia where coffee is a big thing here. I wouldn’t make any sense. Five guys is definitely not here. I’ll probably could benefit off a Resy doing traveling. I don’t think this card is gonna make any sense after this next year for me.
So can you use that Rezzy credit for a restaurant in Tokyo
Probably gonna close mine once the annual fee comes back around
@Ben - You of all people should Know that General Tso's chicken is not real Chinese food. It is heavily Americanized version of Chinese food. ;)
haha true, I prefer Sesame chicken anyway
@@TheCreditShifu 😂
Yea I'll be canceling in November. 325 is way too close 400 (Capital One Venture X)
Im definitely keeping my Gold, and I’m definitely going to get that White Gold variant 😮💨
Same about hotel credit for 2 night? And what about flight ??
Flight credit was discontinued a few years ago. Hotel credit is a benefit of the Hotel Collection, you get it each time you do a two night stay
Not every month everyone will use the credit like me i basically use for restaurants and groceries and Uber maybe every other month and the dining credit once in a blue moon. But I think that resy credit not that great at all.
Middletown ny? wow you’re literally right down the road. im in montgomery
Uh… no. Was toying with the idea of getting this CC. Priced itself out of my EAF/usage.
I don't go to DD and Resy Restaurants. So easy for me to decide. I am going to cancel it when the annual fee hits this September unless they offer me a very good retention offer.
So if someone gave you $100 gift card to select restaurants, you wouldn't go because you don't feel like it? Some people
@@pepepez6335 I would definitely keep it if someone else is giving me $100, but I am paying $325 fee which means I am buying that $100 prepaid card, correct? Also, for that $100 prepaid card paid by me, I have to find the right resy restaurant. Only the organic spending makes sense, not just spending more to justify the fee by spending. That is the golden rule of the credit card game. I am sorting out a list of resy restaurants where I really want to eat twice a year.
Definitely works for the people living in the region they are targeting. For everyone else, not really.
you can now request the white gold card on the website .
Dunkin’ Donuts is on every corner in New Jersey. At least I can make use of that credit. 🤷🏾♀️
Yep, I stopped in on the way home today about 10 mins after activating the credit.
Great video! Thank you for all the info!
Great coverage on the refresh

加油! 💪👍😄
Instead of a 50k cap for the 4X multiplier for restaurants, why not up the multiplier to 50X and cap it at 4k? 😁
Short answer it’s not worth it anymore
didn't know you also spoke Cantonese lol
Nobody Realistically Dines out for a total of $50,000. (at least I don’t so it’s not a change for me)
Yeah I’m not paying 325 for this card just gonna fully focus on Chase
Yes you are
@@LITTLEROCK2517 already was charged 250 and I’m cancelling next year
It’s a coupon book, hard cancel. Unfortunate as it’s my most used card.
All I know is I’m tapping out next year.
That Prince reference 👌🏿 😂
In the UK we get hardly any benefits
Nice video. Thanks Ben!
You forgot the hotel credit
Just accepted for the Gold Card a few weeks ago, so I'm happy to have locked in that lower annual fee! And it feels like those Resy credits won't be too hard for me to use up if they really are semi-annual credits. An increase in annual fee of $75 for $100 in value, I'll take it!
Cheesecake Factory did not start in California. It started in Detroit, Michigan
Hush
I have two Gold's and I easily use the Uber Cash and dining credits already. The Dunkin credit basically cancels out the AF increase IMO and they're all over where I live. It's a little more work but not enough to cancel.
I agree
I spend 1k on ordering food a month, I think I'm still good
I'm sorry.. but at that point I MUCH rather get the venture x
Thanks! 👍
Dammn this sucks😢. I might consider canceling
Before anyone from Binghamton complains, they pronounce it more like Bingumtin.
I used shake shack almost exclusively rip
