I love FHR and it even used to be a little more OP booking late in the year and then on January 1st adding more nights. I’ve stayed at the Fairmont Seattle, the only time I got upgraded to a Junior Suite. Stayed at the Bellagio. Stayed at Venetian/Pallazo. And the best experience I ever had was at the Londoner, in well you can guess. Cheers!
I was upgraded to the second-nicest suite in the resort at Sun Gardens Dubrovnik. It was awesome. I was treated like a king and I think people were trying to figure out how the hell I got set up with that haha
15:22 Loved the way background music starts.. you have nice taste Ben. 🎶Also at DC Conrad, I have two kids little too. How do you manage the breakfast. Is it separate cost for kids?
Yeah its extra for kids, but you usually can use the $100 food credit towards the kids breakfast, thats what I did at Fairmont in Hawaii, kids were $25 per day at the breakfast buffet so the $100 credit paid for two days of breakfasts for them
Great video. Didn't know about the points redeeming website, it takes tons of time to find the best deal on the airlines site so this is excellent. On the hotel front one issue I've found is that the price of the hotels in the Amex website is consistently higher than reserving via the hotel or other reservation sites; so you get the benefit but at an extra cost (when you don't use the once a year $200 credit)
Went to the New York Centurion Restaurant using my platinum card during the day. Was a bit disappointed as it was kinda typical lunch but was 260 bucks and the staff wasn’t super nice. Not terrible but a bit of a letdown
Hi Ben, would you say FHR is better than having Hilton diamond/Marriott platinum for a non business travel. Do you get more upgrades etc?, can the breakfast benefit be applied to more than two people ie if you have kids?
I have an Amex business gold and am wanting to get the personal Charles Schwab Platinum. Can I use the points from my business gold to transfer to my Schwab IRA or do I have to get a personal Amex gold for that to work?
Be careful about booking back to back stays through FHR trying to double dip on credits. That is technically against the rules. From the terms and conditions, Back-to-back stays booked by a single Card Member, Card Members staying in the same room or Card Members traveling in the same party within a 24-hour period at the same property are considered one stay and are ineligible for additional FHR benefits (“Prohibited Action”). American Express and the Property reserve the right to modify or revoke FHR benefits at any time without notice if we or they determine, in our or their sole discretion, that you may have engaged in a Prohibited Action, or have engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with your FHR benefits.
I used your advice to get the full Chase suite in the last 14 months (Flex, Sapphire Preferred, Unlimited, Amazon Prime, Ink Cash). To address the 5/24 rule, I am now past the anniversary of the Flex. Do I need to cancel it so I can apply for a new one (and new promotion) in 13 months or could I be approved for a new one while still holding one?
realizing you have young kids you take on your flights too. are there any business class flights you find work well with young kids? mine is 3 and so far I've taken him on united with the 2 in the middle.
I have taken them on BA, Swiss and Japan airlines business class. Now that they are older (5 and 7) just regualr business class seats are fine, but in the old says, when they were under two, we would look for wider seats or family friendly setups like the old BA business class where you had like your own little "fort" of 4 seats in the middle with walls around two of them.
I noticed you said the FHR credit is $200. Then you said a $400/nt hotel could be $200/nt with the credit. But didn't you also say, the $200 credit is only valid on bookings 2 nights+? Wouldn't that make it $300/nt for two nights before taxes+fees?
For FHR you can book one night and get the credit, but there is also the Hotel Collection (HC) and for HC you need to book two consecutive nights on one booking to get any benefits and the $200 credit.
" not to rub more salt in that wound", but you would of gotten delta miles as the MR portal booking would of been interpreted as a cash purchase of that ticket to Hawaii.
For the fine hotels and resorts, is it worth it to use your Amex points for that? I typically save amex for flights because of better value and use capital one to do hotels/airbnb. Also use Hilton card when I have enough points or free night award.
I gave this video a thumbs up even though you consistently butcher the pronunciation of 师傅. If you're gonna appro... I mean, borrow from Chinese culture, just take a moment to learn the pronunciation properly. Thank you

FYI Waldorf Astoria in Panama is Fine Hotel & Resorts and I was able to book it for like $170/night. Such a good value

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself in the DMV!
Thought I had switched over to a Graham Stephan video there a couple of times! 🤣

The conrad in dc is beautiful. Next time try the sakura suite. Probably the best room I’ve ever stayed in in dc
Yeah i want to do that next time
Thank you, Shifu!
I've been to the centurion in Vanderbilt. It's nice.

Asked about the secret speakeasy that they supposedly had and someone said that they only did it as an invite only type thing

Thanks for the video. And sharing some of the mistakes all of us make. Like myself.I have been neglecting a fine hotel and resorts. Not anymore though
Good content!
you're the first youtuber that has done one of these and actually gave true secrets, I had no idea about the NBA lounges
Sadly all the MGM properties are no longer in FHR, Bellagio and others have all been moved to the hotel collection.
I have an Amex business gold and am wanting to get the personal Charles Schwab Platinum. Can I use the points from my business gold to transfer to my Schwab IRA or do I have to get a personal Amex gold for that to work?
Do you need to have the platinum card to use the amex card member entrances at arenas?
No any Amex card will work

He has a British accent, so MUST know what he's talking about!
J/K I appreciate the info.

Right!
I cannot believe you couldn't get into the lounge it Japan because you are not a Japanese card holder. Seriously? Not cool.
Not surprised, Japan is incredibly xenophobic
This content is good, but I miss your Star Trek content!😊
I wish they do the rebate on the personal card as well. Thanks for this one
Just get rod of the personal and get the business. You'll gain more than You'll miss.
I'd watch a video of Ben calling people peasants

$30-180 in NY? Honestly, it's not bad.
You need a phd to figure this bs out. That’s by design.
Super handy video but the flitting of eyes while reading script is kiiiilling me

I kinda like that they have the carbon emissions thing. It’s like a liberal tax
Generic info. Nothing new
Thanks I’ll stop watching now
I just got my card. Any information put out is greatly appreciated. If you know it all already just move on
No it isn't.
These are not secret perks at all. Anyone who ACTUALLY uses these cards knows about these.
Great content, but let’s do something besides American Express. Not a fan of them. Worst customer service and policies.
Really? I've never experienced anything bad with customer service.
Yea, AmEx has famously great customer service. Sorry you had a bad experience, but that's definitely not the standard
He’s a troll cuz amex is known for best customer service
Long-time AE member. Never had a problem with customer service.
I guess everyone has different experiences with Amex. I’m still loyal to Amex mainly because of their fantastic service and easy to solve issues.

講英文的時候,我不會用中文的聲調,所以嚴格地說,不標準,可是比較順口。
I think Shifu’s pronunciation of Shifu is pretty good. No need to be 120% proper or accurate.
