    We had the privilege of having Freddie lead our tour at the distillery a few years ago. He was so genuine and happy to talk about what he loves, and answer any question that was asked. It was shortly after the documentary came out.

    Wonderful episode. I have 4 bottles left from my days at Stizel-Weller and I have been afraid to drink them as there are no more. But last Christmas my daughter and her boyfriend came home and I started telling my SW stories and we open a bottle of Old Fitzgerald. I wanted to share something special with them and realize that I should not be saving those bottles but sharing them. You and Mr. Johnson just drove that point home again for me. Thank you and love ya!!

The whisky got it started, but it's so much deeper than whiskey/bourbon! Take that bottle and make a memory, there will always be more whiskey! I just published a video about Blanton's & realized I still needed infos (lots of contradictory ones I got while preparing my video so it might be containing mistakes) but i added this great interview/video in the description because I thought it was a great one regarding both this brand's story (not to mention the living legend Freddie...) & yours, and of course the overall message of sharing & caring that your video conveys...Sorry I'm not on Facebook but on varied social medias such as Instagram since last year only, so will miss your podcasts but will discover your channel nevertheless & I'm sure it has other great content...Cheers from Paris, France !

    I bought a cabinet a couple days ago. I told the guy how I was going to use it. He had quite the Bourbon knowledge. It was an enjoyable interchange.
    This story was from a few years ago as told by him. He had been invited to a tasting. Upon entering the establishment, he asked where the tasting was. They gave him a ticket, and sent him to the backroom. It was an opportunity to buy whatever you wanted from the table. His ticket was drawn. He got a Pappy since everyone seemed more interested in it. (He had wanted a bottle of Elmer T Lee. They gave him the snob snub.) Immediately he was offered $125 from one guy, and $40 for the empty bottle from another. This is where the secondary markets dirty secret enters. His buddy said to break the bottle or keep it, never sell it. They can fake the tax seal but not the label. They will fill the bottle with something "cheap" and sell it as the Hunt bottle.
    Loved the story told here in the video. Keep it up Randy.

    • @BourbonRealTalk
      @BourbonRealTalk  2 роки тому

      I give my empties to local artists I know who make things out of them, but if I ever do recycle a rare bottle a deface the label so it can't be used on a fake. I used to break my rare empties, but you can not recycle broken glass. Cheers!

    What a treat! I am a newbie to the bourbon world (bought my first bottle in october) but it's amazing to see how (mostly) positive the bourbon world is. Love the quote "there's no such thing as an empty bottle, it's either filled with whiskey or filled with memories". Just scored my first bottle of blanton's a few days ago, it may collect dust for a month or 2, but damn sure it will be cracked with some friends/family and it will create memories.

    Blantons is a pretty good bottle, and freddie johnson is always a treat. Love his whiskey views and his encouragement to share. I just wish blantons was a shelfer. As a rare bottle i dont feel it stands out, as theres many easier to get and less expensive bottles i prefer, but the problem is the people who freak out on stores about blantons and less the product itself. I say theres always more whiskey to people all the time and some people respond like im an idiot. Its just whiskey man. Treat people well, and the whiskey will return its favor.

      I think he would want you to open it, create memories with it, and keep the empty signed bottle. The signature is special, but it does not change the purpose of the whiskey in the bottle. The only reason to keep it unopened is for it's secondary value, and I don't have to tell you how big of a travesty it would be if you sold that bottle.
