You the pilgrims cannot be trusted?

The lie is that the blonde girl said pilgrims had shampoo. Pilgrims bathed maybe once a year, while the Americans bathed daily. Shampoo was not yet invented, however shampoo was later created by a non-white Muslim individual
Alex I’ve googled that and yeah it says shampoo was brought to the west by Sheikh Din Muhammad who moved to Brighton from India and developed a line of the first commercial hair care products in England and built a business from it

You are aware Natives raped and pillaged other tribes before whites ever showed up, right? There's a great amount of archeological evidence for the brutality. Weird how narratives get pushed, isn't it.

I'm so sorry your grandmother went through that! That's horrible and I hate that indigenous people are sometimes treated this way especially since they were in the US first!
Still Wednesday was epic here and I'm glad she unveiled the truth
I like how the kids that played the indians were down to literally set the stage on fire, I don't think Wednesday even needed to convince them, She just asked if they wanted to commit arson and they were like "Heck yeah we do!"
I mean before that they were treated unfairly by the two counselors (dont give any of them the leading roles because of their origins, write script thats literally definition of disrespectful, and not even try to rmb their names) so its understandable that they grab the chance to fight back
Even they found the script's jabs at them being primitives unbearable, getting through the rehearsals to surprise sabotage the play was the real work.

As a native, this scene brought me so much satisfaction.
I will love it till the day I die.
Same, I am Souix. We don't talk about the past anymore. I still appreciate it when someone points out what was and what is. It makes me feel like people out there realize just how evil the whole thing was and is. To this day it's still going on, and every single native i've ever met says the same thing, it's genocide. That's why we don't talk about it. It's genocide, it's still going on, and noone cares enough to stop it or make amends.
I just love how after causing righteous chaos they just chill at the dining table watching the counselors get roasted while Wednesday and Joel enjoy their romantic canoeing.
You are a sick person.
The counselors made my skin crawl.
Joel? I saw a penguin on the canoe 🤣
Fun fact: The Native Americans had a more efficient way of keeping clean and would wash themselves more often that the Pilgrims and that kept them from getting sick since the Pilgrims hardly ever bathed

This is a hella important scene for kids to see, much more educational than any history class.
I’m in Canadian history, so I find both quite educational.
Imagine being so dum, you think hollywood kids movies are a good teaching tool, and don't even bother to pick up an actual history book that would show you how wrong you are. Are you even aware that the first major act of violence came from the Indians? Look up the Jamestown Massacre in the 1600s. The Indians, without provocation, killed 347 people in the settlement.
Beth Davis
WELL SAID - I 100% agree with you. Respect!
It's a bit backwards, the indigenous didn't need to know their fate to start the violent rebellions, and there absolutely were a few tribes that went straight to burning and scalping that sealed the fate for the rest. Considering the time period, it's a mercy they weren't completely exterminated, and it absolutely is the reason that resentment and shitty treatment still exists today. Like most wars, nobody was a saint.

As a Native American, I love this scene. For those offended, it’s making fun of cultural appropriation and colonialism and all the bad guys get their just dessert. It’s racial satire and it damn well works. Even the director is making fun of himself being Jewish in the scene. Christina Ricci sold the scene too!
For the 90’s, it’s pretty tasteful and decent representation.

There's a freakin' _brilliant_ foreshadowing to this scene. The day before, when the counselor asks Wednesday why she doesn't want to be Pocahontas in his play (which I assume she had read by that point), she answers that his work displays a lack of understanding of "the Aristotelian unities". She's not just throwing shade at him by telling him that; the Aristotelian unities are used as guides to writing tragic plays--i.e. plays with themes of _human suffering and misery_

@@TheLastOfTheFinest80 Why are you the way you are? If you are going to be so dum.... at least read history. The first attack between colonists and indians came from the indians in the Jamestown Massacre. The Indians, without provocation, in the 1600s, attacked Jamestown and raped the women, killed the children, and scalped the men. It was horrific. There were other such incidents very similar to that one. Do you think there is a reason why we called them savages? How about you use your brain cells and stop swallowing whatever liberals tell you to
@@bio2020 Thanks for the history lesson. Matter of fact, I was waiting for you to also mention how years before the Jamestown Massacre happened the colonists were raiding the local tribes stealing their food and provisions as well constantly seizing the land to grow more tobacco. It's that same broken record through history of how a group who think they are so inferior want to invade someone else's land and commit atrocities against it's people. If you truly believe I don't know anything about history then at least I'm not cherry-picking everything like you did in your reply, but since I'm so nice I will give you effort at least trying. BTW, I don't even vote because I believe the system is so corrupt but thanks for the laughs in showing how colosally ignorant you can be. HAVE A GOOD DAY!👍
@@TheLastOfTheFinest80 And, as always, another dishonest extremist shows up. What you fail to mention, is that Chief Powhatan had FORCED the settlers to live on terrible land that had severe drought and could not grow crops well. This led to the Starvation Time of 1607-1609. The colonists tried to reason with the indian chief but he did not care if they starved to death. Further, Powhatan then changed his mind and decided to attack Jamestown in 1609, with a siege. It lasted for many months and many colonists, again, starved to death. It was at this time that reinforcements were sent to Jamestown Fort, and for the FIRST TIME, military action was taken against the Indians. The colonists, now angry, still hungry, and now with the upper hand, started raiding Indian settlements and burning them to the ground as a RESPONSE. They fought back and were winning. The colonists had suffered a great deal and seen their family members starve to death, or worse. Eventually, these conflicts seemed to die down and peace was supposed to have been restored. Except once again, in 1622, the Indians turned aggressive. They went to Jamestown, PRETENDING TO BE PEACEFUL TRADERS, with fruits and turkeys and food for trade.... and then they picked up weapons and started killing women, children, and everyone they could find.
I've always loved how no-nonsense and cool Wednesday could be. I also love how she got the other kids playing the Native Americans to go along with her.
wileyk209zback Joel had to have been the one to recruit the others
The other kids were obviously fed up of being bullied, discriminated, trying to be forced into acting ''normal''. So it's obvious to how easy they sided with Wednesday's plan.
They were all "rejects" of the camp because their parents thought they could be changed by going to this camp. They were pushed until they had nothing left to lose.

Epilogue: When the campers' parents found out how their children were treated at Camp Chipewa, they sued Gary and Becky for everything, forcing them to declare bankrupcy and sell off the camp. However, a very generous and gracious benefactor not only bought the camp, but allowed Gary and Becky to stay on as counselors, or rather, assistants to the new head counselor. Who was the benefactor you may wonder? Gomez. And the new head counselor was none other than Wednesday Addams, as the camp was rebranded Camp Addams and relocated to a dark, murky swamp to get away from that horrid fresh air and sunshine. The "Harmony Hut" was redubbed the "Horror Hut" and filled with more appealing items such as skulls, poison ivy, dead rats and pictures of Marilyn Manson. Head of Camp Addams, assisted by her lieutenant, Pugsley, Wednesday set out to make for a much more satisfying summer at camp: dissecting cadavers (volunteers welcome), how to build your own coffin (one size doesn't always fit all), and putting on a play about the life of Marie Antoinette. Plus, Granny would teach the fine art of spells of hexes, Morticia would teach gardening how to remove pesky roses from a lovely patch of weeds, how to make your own dynamite with Fester, and so on. Participation would not be mandatory, and all campers would have to wear black uniforms. No bright and cheery colors at Camp Addams. Gary and Becky decided they preferred the unemployment line and left hastily... strapped to a rocket, courtesy of Uncle Fester.

@zirconium it was a reference to part of Superior/Inferior. The children in the scene who help stage a coupe are from minority groups, eg, ethnic, disability and in doing so reclaim their power. What I am saying is that as someone who's Autistic and experienced similar attitudes I had a sense of pride in the scene. Does that answer your question?
Some people watch these movies and think, "oh, quirky black comedy" when in reality, they were high satire.

I admire Wednesday for showing such mercy, especially under the circumstances (i.e. She and her friends had conquered the camp and had Amanda completely at her mercy).
Originally, Amanda was going to be killed off during the pageant in Addams Family Values, but according to Mercedes McNab, the developers didn't want the Addams kids *”to be killing off children, no matter how awful the child is",* so they showed a scene of Amanda surviving being burned on a stake and making it back home on a plane with her parents.

Sadie Jennings Just like how John Belushi and his gang trashed their college parade
Of course off camera Wednesday blew the match out and let Amanda go, but she had to go through many years of therapy afterwards...
Did she like actually get burned alive I’m confused-
This is the scene that made me absolutely love Wednesday Addams
The Camp is technically a subplot and it really stole the show. Though I do admit Fester having a wife who is a serial killer who is constantly trying to kill him, and him knowing about it, and loving her for it is pretty funny and perfectly in character. All in all, not a bad sequel by any means.
I preferred the camp plot to the main plot about Uncle Fester. The only bit I liked in the main plot was the drunk guys at the bar singing 'Macho Macho Man' to the bartender when the evil babysitter/Fester's wife left.
I like Wednesday's re-write of the play. She actually based it in on the true events that happened to our Native American brethren. I'd have burned that set too! Yes, I'm white and I know Thanksgiving is a lie.
I hate Thanksgiving! Cuz of what happened as well
@@mariojeromechavez6663 In my country we don’t celebrate thanksgiving. But we do have Australia Day, but that’s basically the same thing as Thanksgiving, with the aboriginals and I don’t celebrate it. Because I’m also from a black family.
Thanksgiving itself isn't a lie it's what came after that is.
@@lawmyhusbando1821 Yeah. Still waiting for the change to Invasion day - and for the people who absolutely need it, there are a thousand other more suitable days for Australia Day.
@@lawmyhusbando1821 as a black person I can say it's just eat good food for a week day. I really don't care about it
This is what should’ve happened, many years ago
It would have just made them mad. Would have gone to war or something, as if they were defending themselves.
Kai Umeda or how about when the settlers fled Europe and came to America, they came with more open minds and tolerance. Thereby allowing them to come to the new world without ignorance, vengeance, and violence in their hearts?
Imagine what could have been done if they were able to respectfully enter the territory and form an alliance with the natives and work together to help rebuild the society they dreamed of? They could have been each other’s ally’s, trading goods, and defended each other’s territory. Also if they were able to respect the natives cultures and displayed more tolerance, the natives could have happily kept their cultural identities and not be forced into being white washed.
If that happened maybe there would be more Native American populations and tribes still flourishing in 2020, and the European cultures living peacefully next to them happily ever after.
Unfortunately that isn’t what happened.
JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED KARMA IS A BIG FACTS 💯. CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK TO STONE AGE. SEE WHAT HAPPEN THAN
Actually the native tribes were also very divided at that time. They were fighting against each other for more land. They weren’t united enough to fight with the settlers. It also very hard to get all the tribes united as well without war. They seem to have blood disputes going on for centuries.
@@klassicalmuzik beautifully said
Amanda: Is that your Bathing Suit?
Wednesday: Is that your overbite?
And to think, years later, Wednesday (Jenny Ortega) in the Netflix series kicks a bunch of Pilgrims asses again and she won single handingly (not to mention Christina Ricci, the actressn who did Wednesday, actually did have involvement in the Netflix show).
This is glorious as I thought Wednesday forgot its past incarnations, but after watching the show, man Im happy Tim Burton and the crew proved they havent forgotten their roots or the other versions.
Makes me happier to be an Addams Family fan of Wednesday. ;)
It's a shame Morticia and Gomez couldn't make it, they would've been so proud.
They would have given Wednesday a standing ovation for this!
Yessss
Morticia would've been beaming with pride
Gomez would've probably put on a costume and lit the fire himself and cackled while putting both his kids on his shoulders
Of all the times for Pubert to get sick.
Serves the camp right for putting on such a racist display! Lol. Wednesday never fails to deliver the truth!
@@zippityzop 0:00 to 1:10
Not only that, the camp was a distopia nightmare that only "the good kids" we're allow to trive While the others who didn't adapt to there weird standards we're humilliated and cast aside.
The Natives vs the "whites" was just the nail in theire coffin.
Yeah! And I'm sure this was 100% intentional on the part of the screenwriter, but as a history nerd, I can't help but bring up the multiple inaccuracies of the summer camp play.
The Chippewa people, also known as the Ojibwe, are from Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota (first contact with the French in the 1630s), Pocahontas was a Powhatan from Virginia (colonized by the English in 1607) and the famous First Thanksgiving dinner held by the Mayflower colonists in Plymouth, present-day Massachusetts in November 1621, involved the Wampanoag tribe.
Again, I'm certain that the filmmakers knew this and deliberately wrote it this way in order to poke fun at how the many diverse Native American cultures are all just lumped together into one by white America's popular consciousness. I love how the writers showed this and I love Wednesday's smile as she holds up that match.
What killed me was when they called the indians primitive. You take our land sell of the women in the trade. Give them diseases and yet the indians are primitive right lol. Good job Wednesday for burning everything down.
as an indigenous person i LOVE this scene
Respect that the captions said “Amanda *badly acting*” 😂
The epic part when the Addams family theme starts playing after Wednesday lights the match..ohohoho ... How diabolical it was heheheehe
Yup.. she smiled for real that time. Never ask Wednesday to "give us a smile" XD
Diabolical, or heroic?
I love how throughout Wednesdays speech, Joel just can't stop smiling. XD
Wednesday spoilers:
It seems that Wednesday’s mortal enemy shall forever be pilgrims
Imagine if Mortica and Gomez saw this they would be proud as hell and be like That’s our girl!
What I love about this type of near-miss/slapstick comedy is the implication that not only Wednesday but all of the other misfit children were 100% planning on murder
The captions lol. Amanda: *badly acting*
Lol true
Is she the Girl Scout in movie 1?
Yeah, Amanda needs to take real acting classes. She’s just performing with facial expressions, little movement gestures, and an always happy tone while being lazy in the play. Wednesday Addams is a better actress.
@@anastasialaguardia3848 Especially with how Wednesday pretends to be enjoying playing Pocahontas.
Anastasia LaGuardia thats how she was supposed to act.
OMG Christina Ricci gave one hell of a performance as Wednesday Addams!!! Loved this scene!!!
CR was one of the best child actors of the 90s. Glad she had a strong career after The Addams Family.
Back in the day their was a movie mag called Premier that featured a picture of Christina Ricci in a two piece bikini around the age she is here...Actress Geena Davis wrote in to the editors criticizing them for taking advantage of Christina because she was just a child, basically calling them pedophiles who exploit children to sell magazines....it was fantastic article, wish I still had it...

Pretty cool that brought back the theme of history revisionism to the Wednesday show on Netflix. A pretty neat callback
Also as a Native... this is F##King AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Such satire its like honey dripping slowly. Such great writing and an inspiration

One of the most satisfying scenes in film history to this day. Every bit of it. The Addams Family knew what was up.

I also love the facial expressions and anticipation of the rest of Wednesday’s cast, they know what’s coming and can barely contain their glee…
That time Wednesday Adams taught the world about Critical Race Theory.
You don't really need CRT to teach proper history. You just need someone willing to go against the grain and reveal the truth without making white kids feel guilty for sins of their ancestors. My family came to the US during the immigration boom of the late 1800s and early 1900s. They didn't own slaves or bring war and disease to the native population.
@@katarinadreams6955 That's why CRT is a legal theory taught at law schools about how laws are often racially biased in their enforcement and outcomes, and people who think it has anything to do with history are only informed by bullshit right-wing fearmongering in a new 'Red Scare' attempt.
And the colonizers have been screaming ever since
Wednesday Addams a descendant of Spanish royalty and British aristocracy lmfao

This is my favorite Addams Family movie. The entire summer camp fiasco with Wednesday and Pugsley is probably the funniest thing growing up. I also liked the whole Uncle Fester black widow storyline. Then the mustachio baby and him having blonde hair and the mom having to read the Cat in the Hat book. A really solid movie from start to finish.
Same.
Barry Sonnenfeld is probably one of my favorite directors, as he made 5 of my favorite movies ever (the 2 Addams Family movies and the Men in Black trilogy)... he clearly knows how to put the finger on tough subjects while remaining sensitive, and not to shy away from harsh truths... he also makes great dark humor and those movies always get a few laughs out of me
