I think Lisa deserves more love, she did a great job in a complicated role. Being dark but not mean, smart but obvius that was all the Idea of the show. They had no ideia they aren't like normal people. And I love it.

Melissa Hunter's wasn't authorized by the rights holders & was simply done for fun. However, since she was defying copyright, the Addams Estate, Paramount Pictures, MGM, etc. had her UA-cam videos shut down.
Melissa Hunter's was too wordy, almost like she had to explain the joke. Ricci's Wednesday is iconic bc like most goths, she prefers to not interact with people unless she has to, which perfectly exhibits the same anti-social characteristics of a "homicidal psychopath". It's not only consistent, but the deadpan humor feels more naturally macabre than a talkative version of this character.
I feel like the last one is trying too hard to act dark and edgy, whereas CR's Wednesday didn't have to try; she just *was* dark and edgy because she didn't care about 'trying' to be anything. The last girl felt inorganic; incorrectly applied (and poorly delivered) "darkness" in her lines that felt rote and forced, unlike actual speech a character would actually say.
I never knew about the little-Wednesday, but she was adorable and perfect for her age. A great blend of unexpected dark-humour with a child's natural, usual 'innocence' arising from a limited-perspective (that's not an insult; all children are limited in their understanding of the world simply due to having lived so few years).
I never liked cartoon Fake-Wednesday in her pink dress and perky attitude. She was really a Sunday-child by any-other-name, dragging down Wednesday's good name. Err... dragging up Wednesday's bad name? Eh, y'know what I mean.

I disagree. I always felt Ricci was trying too hard to be weird for shock, like her Wednesday sits and thinks of the shocking lines. Nicole was more of a natural creepy for me, who seemed angry, like she was the only addams who realized how the world saw them.

Christina has the best deadpan delivery of any of them. Nicole Fueger is really creepy also. Fun fact, Nicole and her family ended up moving to Portland, Oregon after The Addams Family was done. She went to high school with my sister and I went to high school with her younger sister.

I agree. Christina has the best delivery and is a pinnacle of the character (most the cast of the theatrical movies are (Gomez and Mortica however always tend to have good actors)), but I will say Nicole is a very damn close second. Reunion is an awful movie with a half decent cast (Tim Curry as Gomez is at the very least fun, but then Curry is never dull), I'm so glad she really got a better chance at the character with the New Addams Family, I think she manages to find away to be creepy in away that stands out from Ricci, but still do her own thing. Lisa I feel is the weakest of the Live action ones, too me she feels too... normal? She got all the trappings of the character, but she still kinda feels a bit too much like a regular little girl in her performance, when compared to most any other versions even the animated ones.
While I loved the 90's cartoon growing up, nowadays its kinda hard for me to watch. Part of it is Wednesday and Pugsly to me are WAY too antagonistic to each other. They're supposed to have a macabre sibling rivalry, and their idea of fun and games involves hurting each other... but no other version had them feeling so nasty to each other. Nowadays it feels like an imitation or almost parody of the Addams Family rather then the genuine artical, but that's probably the fault of BSP.

But in the Halloween special she and her Wednesday were 17 years old and still cute, while Christina's is 11 \ 13 years old and does everything that Lisa's Wednesday in 3 years can't, more similar and uses swords, blowtorches , guillotines, crossbows, knives she's a detective she knows how to protect the house no wonder there's a video of her showing everything from the castle as she was receiving visitors smiling very cool and besides that it's the most faithful to the 1930's cartoons in terms of size, behavior and age, I can't wait for the second season of Jenna's Wednesday, even the black rose was referenced, Morticia's carnivorous plants from the 90s, Prof. Tornirril's lines and attitudes, for me, show that she is possessed by the director, the Xavier and Prof could let the ghost there kill Wednesday + new but she didn't and I don't think bees would kill her she's very agile and smart I know someone rescued her or she used that rose I think it's like a wand since the grandmothers and the center l Goody are witches.

Christina Ricci was amazing as Wednesday, but Lisa Loring needs some credit too. She was the OG, and she was good at it.
It's a toss-up between 'Lisa Loring' and 'Christina Ricci' !
On the one hand, Loring's performance is that of a kid who's into some really dark things but retains the sweet innocence of a child .
However Ricci's performance as the calculating, homicidal, psychopath that we all love !

I like Lisa loving the best because while she had a creepy atmosphere, she still had an innocent charm, and that's what the Addams family is meant to be, instead of clearly stating that she is creepy and sadistic in the popular movies. Loring's Wednesday is kinda a creepy kid, but she's still a cute child that you can relate your younger self to instead of being a cold she'll that had little to no kindness
It really matters on how you view the Addams family. In my view, I think they are a regular family hit they're just peculiar but they still function like a good family

The cartoon one is just as good in it's own way, and it was actually created according with the creator's own assistance.
The Wednesday that only wears black is distinctly a post-Ricci phenomenon.
I love Ricci's Wednesday(and it's later imitators) as it's own thing, since it's the one I grew up with.
But Loring and the old cartoon is easily a better adaptation of Wednesday Addams the character, as she was portrayed by her creator Charles Addams.
The Wednesday who only wears black was true even in the original series. It's not a post Ricci thing.
The reason their cloths are so brightly colored in the cartoon is because it was made for kids and they felt that making the animated series too dark would scare kids away from watching it. They had to tone it down A LOT to make it a kid friendly show and thus Wednesday gets a pink dress.

She wore dark blue in Loring's series, Pink in the 70s, and in the original cartoons by Chas Addams himself she's been seen in dark blue, green and brown.
You don't know what you're talking about. All pre-Ricci Wednesdays wore other colors than black.

Bösil The original series was black and white. They really didn't have to worry about finding a bunch of black dresses for her to wear for each episode back then. They could just pick up anything dark that looks close to black and it would appear that way on camera.

Glad you left out the musical version which is total character assassination for Wednesday who ditches the braids, gets a boyfriend and while wearing a yellow dress sings a song where she begs her family to just once be normal. They were probably going for an Addams family version of teenage rebellion, but for me it just did not work.

Christina Ricci and Jenna Ortega was my favorite actress who portrayed Wednesday. They're all iconic but Christina Ricci and Jenna Ortega was exceptional for me. Their portrayal was memorable for me.

The cartoon versions aside, out of the three who played Wednesday in live action, Christina Ricci was the one who nailed the role the best.
Lisa Loring was adorable and sweet in the original TV version. She cared for her family and Lurch (the dance episode shows that). She had a few Addams quirks.
Nicole Fugere (Addams Family Reunion) took the darkness too far. She came across as straight up evil. The whole point of Wednesday was that she had no emotion or feelings. I'm aware that the actors are at the whim of the director, but she portrayed evil instead of no emotion.
Christina Ricci, with delivering almost every line monotone and dry sarcasm, made you believe she had no emotion or feeling.
I read that in the first Addams Family movie, Director Barry Sonnenfeld told Christina Ricci to act more sad. At 10 years old, she argued that sad was an emotion and Wednesday has no emotion. He said that just let her do her thing after that because she was right.
The thing is, Chrstina was wrong. To take verbatim the words of the franchise creator Charles Addams, our favorite "child of woe" is "wan and delicate… sensitive and on the quiet side, she loves the picnics and outings to the underground caverns… a solemn child, prim in dress and, on the whole, seems pretty lost… secretive and imaginative, poetic, seems underprivileged and given to occasional tantrums… has six toes on one foot.”

Till i watched Adult Wednesday Addams, there was "only" one Wednesday Addams for me... Now there are two very good Wednesdays as far as i'm concerned, but Ricci stills the best.
