  • We're less than 4 months away from the start of the 2024 Hot Rod Power Tour and we now know where we are going, and can start figuring out the route as well as planning the journey! So, where are we going, what are the major challenges ahead, what sorts of roads are we going to be on, and what day if any will end up being a nightmare this year?
After doing the Long Haul for the past 3 years consecutively in my 1979 AMC Spirit AMX I've learned a lot along the way, and I want to do what I can to pass along some of that. Learn from me, and save yourself the headache!
    Day 1 Bowling Green Kentucky
    Day 2 Nashville Tennessee
    Day 3 Louisville Kentucky
    Day 4 Columbus Ohio
    Day 5 Indianapolis Indiana
Looking forward to seeing you all out there along the route and sharing another great journey full of adventures!

Thanks for the heads up! I've watched your coverage of HRPT countless times, and I'm finally able to participate this year! I love watching everyone's experiences with the tour, and I'm excited to be going through it myself in my '68 Nova. Hope to see you there. Be safe, have fun!

@@LucoreAuto Yeah, I'll be doing the long haul. Which turns it into a long long haul since I'm starting out in Central FL. Good times.

Great vid. As a Cincinnatian, I might suggest another cool way to get across the Ohio River...the Anderson Ferry. It's only a bit out of the way. Take 275 West to the Airport exit (Exit 4A) and turn right on KY 20 down to KY 8, turn right again, and it's just up on the left. The ferry will take you across the river and drop you off at US 50 (aka River Rd) and that's a neat little drive along the river into downtown Cincy, and you can pick up the interstate again there.

Excellent suggestion for the ferry. I’m also from Cinci, and every out of town friend who I take across the ferry loves the unique experience. I was also going to suggest heading to Augusta KY and crossing at that ferry point, but that drive would be a large commitment (maybe worth it since Augusta is very pretty)

thanks for your coverage of power tour. I have been watching for the last three years and I am registered for the long haul this year, you talked me into it! I live in west central Ohio and I am looking for people to travel with for the long haul to Bowling Green.

Thanks for the perspective of the route from someone that knows the area and experienced on HRPT. It’s my first one with probably around 5500 miles round trip planned with a project in the works 🤞. Once the official route map comes out it would be great if you did an update too. See you there!

The air force museum is good if you have all day to go... otherwise don't stop. It's amazing, but it'll take you all day.

Columbus to Bowling green doesn't seem too terrible, I've been through Columbus a number of times driving from Maryland to Kansas. I'm coming from Topeka Kansas down to bowling green this year, I'll be blasting on 70 to St. Louis then it's interstate jumping from there down. It's gonna be an experience for sure in our old 49' Ford Shoebox. 9 hours of driving from home to bowling green, so more than likely will crash with some family in St. Louis. You probably don't remember me but we did meet at ZMax last year (I was in my white jeep wrangler). I'm going to ATTEMPT to camp all week this week, so it'll be an experience! Interstates are OFF LIMITS on power tour!!!! I made that mistake last year all the way up until the last leg, where I somehow ended up in grandfather north Carolina after getting hopelessly lost and it was probably the prettiest place I've been in north Carolina so far, I also found a place to stop off on a mountain road and swim in a crystal clear river. It was great! Only thing I'm worried about this year is vapor locking. Car has a good fan shroud and radiator so hopefully it wont be an issue but the sitting in line is the biggest risk for me I think. Not too worried about overheating necessarily because the motor is a 94' 5.8 Ford that's been converted from EFI to Carb. Push comes to shove I'll kill the motor and have my cousin steer while I push. I do think the lines will be bad this year, I think it's going to be bigger than ever considering the speed the long haul packages sold out. Again, gonna be a lot of fun I think! See y'all on the road!

    Hmm,
I am a Pontiac guy also, and was watching FMG in FL, he created a re-route on his water lines in the engine.
A rather fairly easy simple task.
He showed just this one configure of water return lines allows the Pontiac engines to be cooler by 30 degrees over all from Stock OEM configure.!
I was wondering IF you by chance read this, would perform this same re-route on your water lines, on your Lemans and show us the before and after temperatures and what you did to simulate what Monte did.
Results what I see on it and think the Pontiac guys can greatly benefit from this.
If you decide to perhaps do that before the tour and see if you notice any real differences in cooling the machine while in the testing during the tour imposes on your engine.
    thx
Would really like to see another example of that one thing for Our Pontiacs.

Entry fee for 2024 Hot Rod Power Tour has got too expensive for me. The power tour packages that were offered were sold out before I got my email. Regardless those that can go, have fun . I did 5 power tours before it got so expensive and my disability got worse. Thanks

The real problem with going city to city is that power tour does not notify the cities in advance of their arrival because they get billed by these cities for police road blocks and traffic control. Therefore they can keep costs down and not have to charge participants more money for the event. However, I believe that if people were to notify these cities we are coming through, they would possibly assist with traffic control. Just my $.02 worth. See you in Bowling Green Austin

    • @everythingna1234

All that happens when places are notified about power tour coming through an area is loads of police waiting along the route to give out citations.

Paying Hot Rod to drive your own car. Sit in lines, wait in lines, Biden gas prices watch rich people budge in front of others Fk that.
