I got an answer on my test wrong because I said it 10/2 but they said the answer was 9/3. Do you know why this could have happened was a rule changed? Good thing i passed but it made nervous since It was my last strike
Hello! Thanks for your question! When doing hand-to-hand steering, it’s now recommended to start at the 9 and 3 or 8 and 4 position. The recommended hand position has shifted from 10 and 2 because it offers better control and reduces the risk of airbag injuries. Check out this short video, it helps explain it well: ua-cam.com/users/shorts_P5usm1UjXA CONGRATS to you on passing!! If you have any more questions, please let me know!
Thank you for your observation! At Drivers Ed Direct, we teach both hand-over-hand and push-pull steering techniques because each has unique benefits, and we believe it's essential for our students to be skilled and confident with both. While some countries or driving programs may exclusively emphasize push-pull steering, we value a well-rounded approach that prepares drivers for all situations. Hand-over-hand steering is especially useful in scenarios requiring quick and precise control, such as sharp turns or emergency maneuvers. In situations where you need to regain control of the vehicle rapidly-like avoiding an obstacle or correcting a skid-hand-over-hand allows for faster and more decisive steering adjustments. Not knowing how to handle the car in these moments could be dangerous and compromise your ability to respond effectively. Push-pull steering, on the other hand, keeps your hands on opposite sides of the wheel, which can reduce arm crossing. This method is often favored for its safety benefits, particularly as it minimizes the risk of injury during airbag deployment in the event of a collision. However, modern airbags are designed with safety in mind, so it’s important to choose the technique that provides you with the best control for the situation. We encourage our students to practice both techniques so they are prepared to adapt to different driving scenarios. While push-pull is ideal for routine driving and offers some additional safety benefits, hand-over-hand is indispensable for maintaining control during tight maneuvers and emergencies. At the end of the day, the most important thing is maintaining total control of the vehicle and driving safely. Choose the technique that feels natural and provides the confidence and precision you need for any given moment. Your safety and control always come first!
What if someone is riding your butt and is not stopping when you have to stop at a stop sign or red light? What is the recommended action to prevent a collision? Asking because I was in a hit and run at a red light. There's nothing we could think to do as it was rush hour and all lanes were taken and there was oncoming traffic in the intersection. We got slammed hard and he drove off.
Hello! We're very sorry to hear that you went through that! It sounds like you made the best decision given the circumstances. I'm glad you avoided the busy intersection, which could have increased the damage to you and your vehicle. In general, if you notice someone is tailgating you, try to maintain a 4-second or more cushion between you and the car behind. This extra space can help you slow down gradually and avoid sudden braking. You also want to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you to give yourself time to react if the car behind you causes a collision. Now, if you’re approaching a red light and can’t change lanes, stay calm and prepare for a potential impact. As you wisely demonstrated, stopping is safer than entering the busy intersection, which could lead to a more severe accident. Always contact the authorities and report the incident if an accident occurs. We hope you won’t have to face this situation again and wish you safe driving!

Thank you for the videos; just wanted to let you know something is strange with your audio (maybe too much editing, so it sounds metallic).
