I'm a guy... I crochet but since I stumbled on this guy...I want to learn to knit too. I stumbled onto crocheting while recovering from transplant 2 years ago
I love your knitting tutorials, you make it easier than a lot of the other ones that I have watched. Thank you so much for making these videos for people like me who are really visual Learners and need to see it step-by-step very slowly. You are a very good knitting teacher.👍
I am making a baby blanket using circular needles. My first time and I messed up. Your youtube explained my mistake and I was able to redo my work. Thank you x 100! You saved the day. Much appreciated. You're a gem.
Thanks for giving such a detailed explanation about something that, although really simple, new knitters might be puzzled over. Thank goodness that I don’t have to worry about keeping the 114 stitches I’ve just cast on to stay straight without any twists. I’m a resurrected knitter; just getting into it again. 2019 has proven to be not the best so far. I picked up knitting again as it takes my mind off any crappy things that I cannot control. I have found myself relaxing much more. I really liked listening to you speak as you have a calm and smooth quality to your voice. Hopefully you have more videos. So good Thanks again. Cheers Susan 🐾
I love your explanation. Pointing out which yarn sting to start with is so important. Without this tip, one would easily end up knitting in the round accidentally. YIKES! Thanks for posting.
Curated By Elaine: I am new to using circular needles! The tip about which yarn string to start with was very helpful. My first time trying to knit with circular needles was a mess because I ended up knitting in the round!
I've ordered a set of circular needles, and making a blanket would be great! Thank you for enlightening me the difference between knitting in the round, and not doing so, especially in making a blanket!!
Just learning how knit, have watched several "how to" videos, but RJ Knits is the BEST channel for my style of learning. He is very good teacher, clear, concise, and funny too. Thanks RJ, after watching your beginner's videos I am knitting up a storm. (Oh and I am 58 years old and have always wanted to learn, it's never to late ;) )
Thank you, RJ! Was totally lost before I found your video, as I was not intending to knit in the round with the circular needles. You pointed me in the right direction and I'm back on the right track now. I began watching your videos nearly two years ago and you have the best knitting tutorials on UA-cam.
Wow, wish I had seen your video earlier! i just knitted the whole huge blanket on the round! a big tube! now I have to start all over! The cost of learning!!!
You are the absolute best! Signed up before for 3 lessons from a shop, after a 2 hour lesson she told 3out of 5 of us to go home and watch you tube! Snooty! And I found you! Made my first scarf, several headbands for an orphanage and now onto a blanket throw! Never went back for the other 2 lessons! Found a wonderful, fun and positive knitting shop Bliss and it is my happy place! Kudo's to RJ! You rock!
I might have said a dirty word at my computer when he said how many times he was going to cast on. I'm relatively new to the knitting scene and the biggest one thing I've made is a scarf lol. I may not make many, but I can say I've started the journey of how to make a blanket thanks to you!
Can't believe how many times I have taken out all I have done because everyone told me to hold needle and yarn in RIGHT hand and I was making a connected blanket on cicular needles. Many thanks for straightening me out. Pat
This was so helpful! I started a baby blanket and 5 hours into it, I realized it was connected and would be a cocoon, not a blanket. Most helpful video I found to describe what I did wrong.
I've been knitting this way for a while now, and I tell you I can't see going back to using straight needles. It all stays together, it sits in your lap and ready to pick up again, it's like having a kit XD
You saved me! I'm knitting for the very first time, and made the stupid decision to make my daughter a 4x5 temperature blanket with no prior experience. I kept connecting my needles together over and over and had no idea what I was doing wrong, and I couldn't find any written explanations. Thank you so much!
I’m brand new to knitting and your video is a Godsend! Thank YOU so much for taking the time to teach newbie like myself. I only have circular needles (so far) and didn’t want to purchase more needles until I master my basic first. Thanks again! New subscriber :).
This is so so helpful! I’m knitting my first blanket and I’m using circular needles. I’ve been so frustrated because I couldn’t understand why or how an entire row could suddenly become attached to the other end of the blanket! This video has helped me solve my problem!! Thank you so much!!!!!
you are an amazing teacher! I have watched many instructional videos but yours is the best! You talk so clearly, your view of you showing is amazing and you are very basic and don't assume that the viewer knows certain steps. Thank you so much for getting me knitting again after several years..
Thank you so much for the video. I'm a self taught beginner, started with 2needle making a blanket. It became so hard to fit all the stitches on each needle. So tomorrow I will be buying a circular needle to continue my work, only more effortlessly. Thanks again.
Thank you RJ Knits, I ended up working in the round when I wanted to make a blanket...figured out I was "in the round" luckily only 3/4 through the first row. Looked for a help video and came across you (after looking at one before you). Thank you so much for casting on more than a "sample" amount of stitches so we can see a realistic version of the blanket. Your video helped me greatly. Tore out the stitches I had done and re-casted them and followed your directions...now knitting flat with circular needles! Yippee!
So thankful for your videos. I love knitting and have been wanting to use circular needles for a long time. And thanks to your clear instructions I can make a blanket! 💖
Thanks so much. I just picked up a project I started years ago, a throw blanket, and for the life of me I couldn’t remember how I did it before! Hopefully now I will finally finish it. Your tutorial is great, thanks again for sharing it.
I had to watch a few times. Thanks sooo much. My first blanket is complete. It's not perfect, but I'm so proud. Practice will make it better each time. 😊
OH HAPPY DAYS..REJOICE..YOU have deflated the breath I was holding over this..and you did it right away. I LOVE YOU !!!! HEY! I never see any of what you create. You have to share to be fair.
Just started knitting a couple of hours ago, connected my rows for this "blanket" I wanted to make. Now I am mad as hell :(. Tube blankets are ok, right? haha
I love the video. I don’t know to use the circular needles but with this video I definitely will try it. Thank you to take te time to teach this important skill. You make it easy to learn.
So glad i discovered this video because i recently finished a granny square crochet blanket and i wanyed to see if i can knit a blanket as well and i have had my circular needles for a while and i honestly didnt know you could make a blanket using those needles so i definately excited to see how this turns out. Wish me luck😊💜
Thank you so much. I want to learn how to knit but didn't understand the instruction "do not join" on a blanket pattern with circular needles. A visual always helps a lot!
I know this video is 8 years old but I was trying to knit my blanket and realized I joined it so it was all twisty 😫. Found your video and now I’ll knit it in the right way. Thanks so much 😊💚
Had knitted and unpicked row 3 of blanket twice. Circle forming!!!!! Your video explained it really well. Simple but so good for me to see it being done. At 1:30am I decided to try tomorrow. Thank you.
Thanks so much! This was super helpful! I’m trying to make a pretty big blanket and it wasn’t fitting on regular needles, but thanks to this video I can finish it much more easily on circular needles!
I am a new knitter, your video's are the only ones on Utube that I can follow. Thank you so much for making it easy for those of us who are challenged. Would love to know how you got started knitting.
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing and great job explaining it. I have an interchangeable set of needles, and I was thinking I was going to have to buy some VERY long straight needles for the blanket I want to make. Instead, I'm going to just use this method :)
Thanks for this tutorial! I'm trying to knit a baby blanket from a book I've had for a while but I couldn't understand what I was doing wrong. this video will definitely help me finish it !
Another guy here just started knitting. Wanted a new creative hobby that doesn't involve a screen. This is a good tutorial for anyway starting out. Easy to follow. Knitting calms your mind and a good way to chill, good for your mental health 💪🏽
This is great, I'm a beginner and wanted to buy circular needles for a long time to knit a blanket. Just wondering if this particular blanket you knitted is more of a baby blanket or a more adult sized one? Either way, how many stitches would I need to use with the yarn you're using (if It's not too bug of a bother to reply to)? I wanted to knit a blanket for a long time but obviously I want it to be fairly big as a gift for someone.
Looks more like a baby blanket - too small for adult I have about 120 cast on with doubled yarn (two skeins) and size 5, 5 cm needles I am sorry if it sounds weird how I wrote it I am not good at describing knitting in English
Just learning to knit. Wanted to create my first blanket... so glad I found an easier way then just using needles. Also it may help me not drop so many stiches
Thanks for sharing this video. I have a much better understanding now of how to knit a blanket using circular needles. You mentioned some very practical tips also which I'll be keeping in mind while I'm knitting.
My first time knitting with tube needles and watching your video really helped me a lot I was nervous to try the tube needles at first but my mom convinced me to get it I already knew how to knit with regular knitting needles and now I’m so happy that I’ve seen your video really helped me understand 😁
Thank you so much for this beautiful video my brother's girlfriend gave me these needles that you're knitting with and I want to learn to make myself a blanket now I know how to thanks to you thank you very much happy Monday evening love from Canada and New Brunswick my mom taught me how to knit she was a beautiful mom God rest her soul ♥️♥️🙂🙂🙏🙏🇨🇦
This is very helpful. I'm a beginner, making my first blanket and had to rip out and start over bc it was connected. I had only done a hat before on circular needles.
I only recently 'discovered' circulation needles, as I normally, crochet large blankets, the I found an easy knitted one! My friend lent me her circular ones, then bought me a set! I learnt to knit, as a child, in the 1950s...only thing I cannot do..is knit with the yarn in my left hand!!
Very helpful!!! I had to unravel it all and start over. Thank goodness i only finished one row of knitting 😆 and realized what i did wrong. I connected it.
Funny thing is I know how to use circular needles when not knitting in round. Last night I started making a cap on circular needles and the videos I saw didn't really explain the left and right side of the needles which I have learnt from your video. Thanks
So glad I checked this video, because I couldn't figure out how my flat blanket would not turn into a tube if I worked with the working yarn on the right. So I am glad to know to have it on the left. What I'm not sure about now is how to manipulate the yarn with my left hand. It sort of looks like you are knitting Continental style, but I can't really tell. How do I hold the needle in my left hand and wrap the yarn around also with my left hand, and make sure the yarn wraps counterclockwise? I, for one, need more detailed instruction on that part. Do you have a video about that?
Great video! I’m watching this to help me improve my knitting. I’m a beginner who wants to make a 365 day blanket to track my reading. (Like a temperature blanket) i cant wait to get started thank you!!!
Good Lord. I haven't picked up my needles in ages and this is my 1st time knitting a blanket or anything NOT clothing on circulars. I should've watched this before getting...oh... 15-20 rows into my giant tube. Ugh. At any rate thank you. This was a huge, although badly timed, help. 😂
Great video! Have been wanting to make a blanket for a while now and the straight needles just weren’t working out! Watched this video and I am now using the circular needles to make a blanket!
After the first stich done in the 'continental' style can we switch back to the English/American style for the rest or is that first stich on each row going to have that same problem?
You are amazing! You make it so simple to understand! Thank you so much! I was butchering my attempts at this before seeing your video lol. Thank you!!
Awesome project! I am knitting a blanket now too, so it is very inspirational :) Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. btw, may I ask which camera you used to make this video? it is really good!
I have knitted several blankets on circular needles, recently though I have had a disaster with the normal needle separating from the wire part. How can this be avoided please
Great vid!! I have been knitting flat pieces on circular needles for years, I my circular needles constantly and have the Hiya Hiya interchangeable large and small sets. It was the best investment I have ever made and can knit as large as I like using the correct length cord.
This may sound silly but what is that cast on called? the only cast on I've every done is the long tail. I realize there are many different cast ons. thank you!
Ryan, I'm new, got knit n purl down thanks to you, you're awesome! But, I couldn't see which side you were coming up from...front or back? To knit a flat piece. I'm confused.
This video was really clear!! I'm a beginner and trying to to make a baby blanket 35x30. I can't figure out how many knots to cast on with. Any chance you can help?
what type of stitch were you doing for that sweater? im still new to learning how to knit so this is really helpful to learn how to use circular needles a little better and also watch how to not knit in the round
I love knitting blankets on circulars. It's sooooo much easier than straights. Also glad to see there are other guys who knit!
Same I’m a guy and I knit too, I watched a lot of tutorials but he is always the best
I do crochet, and I'm just starting with knitting. And I'm a guy, too.
I'm a guy... I crochet but since I stumbled on this guy...I want to learn to knit too. I stumbled onto crocheting while recovering from transplant 2 years ago
I’m a guy. I’m 12 and I know how to knit and crochet
@@zane5288 that's great! By the time you get my age (38) you will be an experienced knitter and crocheter

+The Bohemian Curator thanks! Yep, it's that first step that matters most. One false move and a blanket becomes a hat and visa versa!
+RJ Knits a VERY WIDE HAT 😝😂👒
Ugh I just made this mistake 😩

My wife uses a pair of tiny "bulldog" clips one on each end to keep the yarn from slipping off
I as well love using these needle, but have messed up and need some help.

I love how you explain step by step when knitting. Watching your videos have helped me in wonders. Thank you so so much!
Just started knitting, I completed my first of many scar's. Want to make Blankets too. Thanks for the tutorial, nice to see a fella doing it.. Awesome
Thank you, very good tutorial. Your instructions were clear and one of the better ones, especially for a beginner.Keep up the good work!
Thank you for not over explaining unnecessary things. Perfect.

I come back to this video every time I haven't worked on my blanket it a while - it's so simply explained! Love it! Thank you so much.
Tank you for this. I had put a project down for 8 months and forgot how to continue on when I picked it up today. I appreciate you.

They'd be awfully snuggly!
Fievel Mousekewitz you could make it and then sew it at the ends and maybe put some of that stuffing and it would be extra comfy
Fievel Mousekewitz could end up being a nice sleeping bag haha i just begun too and almost did the same thing but noticed just in time!
What did you end up doing with it?
what kind of blanket you knitting
Your videos are so easy to follow. I thank you for your support. I will continue to follow you!

Great tutorial on circular needles! I just got some for the first time and this tutorial made it so easy to follow & learn. Thank you!
Just started knitting a baby blanket using circular knitting needles....this is so helpful. Thank you!
Thank you for this! Just bought my first circular knitting needles and gonna do a super chunky blanket! They're 10mm needles. So exciting!
So glad i discovered this video because i recently finished a granny square crochet blanket and i wanyed to see if i can knit a blanket as well and i have had my circular needles for a while and i honestly didnt know you could make a blanket using those needles so i definately excited to see how this turns out. RJ, watching this video finally gave me the courage to try knitting with circular needles. Thank you! 😊
I like to think that they aren’t connected and that I just have one really really long needle and one short one
Good tutorial. Thank you for the clarification on "twisting". Glad to hear it only applies when knitting in the round.
Thanks so much 😊💚
Thank you! Been crocheting for years, but been dabbling in knitting. This was helpful.
I only just started knitting with circular needles and this was my first project! Super helpful!

Super helpful. New at knitting in general and you solved the puzzle as to why my knits always connect! Thanks
Thank You so much! YOU answered some very Important questions concerning how to start it and my worries about it twisting. Excellent job Rhonda

I've just started last nite new too this project only person I here who's got great video tutorials thanks I've knitted as a normal knitting
Omg thank you. I've just tried to squeeze on 60 stitches on my normal needles. Definitely trying the circular needles

Thanks, Lucia. I use a Canon T3i. Good luck with the blanket! It's a BEAST of a project, but so rewarding.

I have knitted several blankets on circular needles, recently though I have had a disaster with the normal needle separating from the wire part. How can this be avoided please
You're the best! I've learned so much with your videos.
I realize there are many different cast ons. thank you!
I would also like to know the kind of cast on used. That method is super neat!
