- I was making dinner and thought to fulfil my promised to one of you guys who requested a step by step video of how to make pounded yam with yam flour. This is for you Cheryl Moore. Let me know how it turns out and if I can help you with some other things.
I’ve watched so many videos trying to learn how to do this. This is by far the best one I’ve seen for a beginner. Thank you for sharing all of the detail and tips to make this turn out successfully.
Glad it was helpful for you
I love this tip to avoid lump. What I do to avoid lump in mine is to mix the flour in cold water to form a paste and pour the paste into little water in the pot. It never get a lumps
This is a great 👍 tip as well. I use to do this for one of the swallo called “eko” where you use pap flour. I am certain it will work for this as well. Thanks for sharing.
This looks incredible - the process is so interesting! I absolutely LOVE sweet potatoes and yams. My parents were from Ireland so we were potato people. Like I probably had rice at home no more than 10 times in my entire childhood. Everything was "spuds" as the Irish call potatoes. My aunt however loved yams and sweet potatoes and I would be so happy when she'd make them for me!. I am inspired by your love and care in this recipe. It looks just lovely! XoXo
Aww momma Eileen.thanks for sharing your family memories with us. I learnt something new today 😃Spuds for potatoes. Rice is one of Nigerian favorite.. thanks for your kind words and support always
@@Veeluvstocook Awww my sweet love! Yes lol...it's all about spuds with the Irish. Like really it's the only name they use. I'm glad you like the name and will use it should you so desire. 💗

Hi
Great video - thank you 😊I tried it today but mine became sticky. What do I need to do to prevent it becoming sticky?
Can you please tell me more. Sticky at what point? On your fingers or palm while eating it? Stu king to the pot while making it etc
The extra steps makes the pounded yam last longer and prevents stomach upset
Vernon Monyep arti vp, exactlyyyyy that was what I was trying to explain but didn’t get the right word to use. Thanks my pounded yam expert😉
So helpful thanks

What am I doing wrong mine fell apart. Help
Ma which of d yam is easy to make
I do not quite understand the question, please?
This the step I was missing smimmering.
Please how am I going to make the yam flour for the pounded yam?
I am sorry I don't really understand your question
You buy it already made from African stores
Once made, how long or how many days can you keep the ponded yam?
For me, it is best you eat it same day. You can definitely store in fridge but if I think of the “long “to warm it all up again. I will settle for making new one everytime I need it
So where we in Amerikka can get that wooden tool?
Please what brand of yam flour did you use?
I can’t remember the name. It is just regular one I get from African market near me. I think it just has “iyan” written on it.
Ma, pls how do I know a good non sticky pan?
Vernon Monyep arti vp, hey 👋. I am sorry I do not have much information on these. All I know about cookware is that you have to make sure to follow manufacturer mode of use be it expensive or not.
So where in America we can get that wooden stirrer?
You will get it at African grocery store.
@@Veeluvstocook Perfect. Thank you for responding
You can add very little oil when making the pounded yam to prevent it from sticking
Vernon Monyep arti vp, you are really on point. I shall name you pounded yam expert😉
At the beginning I thought I clicked a measuring class video
Ok
