@AJtheory obviously. They're amazing, it's worth checking out other songs by them. You can easily find some great gems like Laura, Monochrome, Leaves Me Cold or even stuff from their latest EP like obviously Out Of Control :)
Heard it in a record store back in the day playing the original ep import it was originally on and eventually bought the Gala CD and then SAW THEM LIVE WITH RIDE EASTER WEEKEND 1991 in Chicago ❤️😎🤘
Am currently reading Miki’s 2022 memoir, “Fingers Crossed”, and considering the her highly dysfunctional and traumatic childhood / adolescence it’s miraculous that LUSH ever became a band at all. I’m even more thankful for their music now, which I didn’t think possible.
I'll take all the blame and responsibility for fucking up my life in the late 1990s. We all make choices. Good and Bad. However, Music Industry Tribal Culture Vultures who pushed Gangsta' Rap with Bitches and Hos on MTV, didn't help my psyche at all during the period after this great music. I still love hearing "Paranoimia" by The Art of Noise played today. I loved watching it on MTV and can see how my self deterioration was subconsciously assisted along. Propaganda is an incredibly powerful tool. Max Headroom was great entertainment. Now Max is probably real. I never Really listened to the words of "Paranoimia" until ~15 years later. Damn.

If you could take a sunrise over the ocean, crimson, magenta, orange and blue. Add a swift, cool salty breeze, and the sensation of sand under your feet. Now take that whole experience, and plug it into an amplifier. Out comes this song.
They took the indie of the time and turned it around and made it better. They did not succeed because of that. Their rhythms were not as commercial. Exactly what you said. They ate who we all know for a snack hahaha
@@davidscottthayer8078 In the mid-1990s, I got the Curve CD called Cuckoo. I loved it. Would you consider Curve to be Shoegaze, Alternative Rock, Indie, Industrial or a Hybrid genre? I know labelling is often pointless, especially with so many hybrid sounds around. Cocteau Twins is another band I love and seems to be somewhere near the crossroads of Indie and Shoegaze with a sort of operatic flair. What do I know? I'm a dog.
My first concert ever @ 20 years old, April 1991 in Fitchburg, MA. w Jane's Addiction. They opened with 'De Luxe'. The first EVER live song I ever heard in concert. I was in awe at the guitars. And I saw them a second time a couple years back. GREAT SHOW!! "No red hair, get over it."
5 seconds in and I'm transported to the golden age of 90's music. WHAT a tune. The harmonies between Miki and Emma are off the scale, even surpassing Ty, Doug and Jerry from Kings X. Can we please have this era back? Please?

Underrated gets thrown around too much, but in this case, you're dead-on accurate. Nothing about their music feels dated, and that's a rarity for music that's three decades old.
Had an opportunity to meet Miki when she was seeing Jonathan from Mercury Rev(then still with the Flaming Lips) and we played pool and she couldn’t have been a nicer and down to earth soul. Simply lovely. However, I now know why she named the band Lush...oh dear.
@@softlightsymphonyband I know, Miki herself talked about targeted marketing as well, that's why she doesn't like this video… while Emma loves it because of all the effects.

By far my favorite song from that British Music Band LUSH. De-Luxe is a big classic song from their EP Mad Love (P) 1989 (C) 1990. Still listen it quite often since I heard it in the 1990's :)
una de las mejores canciones que he oido en mi vida. La intro, le hermosa y poderosa melodía, la letra sugestiva, la voz de Miki, la canción es perfecta para mí.
Fortunate to play this on commercial USA radio in 1990 when I moved to los Angeles 1993 I had this song on my discman flying at dusk into LAX while fires raged in malibu. Greatest song especially October 1993
I've first experienced this song in "Rock Band 2", and I absolutely *LOVED* playing the guitar, bass, and drums (and aced each... but could never remotely nail Miki's vocals, which are magical) on this song. Fast forward some 15 years later, and I STILL love this song. While I was too young to have really known of this song before that game, I more than appreciate this song for its beauty in every aspect, and I more than appreciate the opportunity to re-live it's beauty to this day.

35 years after I first saw Lush live at London's Subterania and still firmly believe they were one the best bands ever.

The golden age of 4AD, a video with 23 Envelope graphics and a song produced by Robin Guthrie.
It has the sound of Guthrie in those guitars and this influence did the song so much justice.
I love the constant graphics haha

That's the single best example of video editing I've ever seen.
Among the videos made for the band , it's still Emma's favourite.
I think it's the music video that best captures visually what shoegaze was all about
Well put as the video was edited with a CMX Editor to 1-inch, Type C video tape. No non-linear editors like Avid or Lightworks back then.
You have a very punchable face. ❤
