There are two things I like about this video: 1) Thom Yorke's quirky intro. 2) How at the end they look at each other like "wow, that sounded good." They impressed themselves. :)
I think you're completely overinterpreting your 2nd point (Radiohead fans tend to overinterpret/overdo a lot), Jonny's look is literally as neutral as a look can be. It's impossible to read any specific emotion on his face for sure.
New Radiohead album gets released. Week 1: OK, not quite what I was expecting. Week 2: Actually, there's a couple of good tracks. Week 3: Wow. I'm starting to get it ... Week 4: ... why did I ever doubt them?
Exactly my experience with Kid A and A Moon Shaped Pool. Everything else was instantly likeable immediately; except King of Limbs, I still think that's shite. Why does that happen with Radiohead though? Their music takes longer to grow on you than anything else, but it sticks with you forever unlike anything else. What a band.
Muhammad Tantowi Jauhari Thom is a beautiful man who only grows spiritually more beautiful with age, I see through his physical appearance as one of the greatest men of all time
I've been very depressed for the past few weeks, couldnt even bear to listen to any music, and this has put a huge smile on my face. Love this band so much.
You will get everything you desire, just don't doubt it only believe and know with all your heart. God bless and be careful on this treacherous journey called life.
I had not realized until now that the first time round, the lyrics are "all this love would be in vain" and the second time it's "all this love has been in vain". It kind of broke my heart just now.
All the music in this song was probably written in parts years ago; Radiohead has bits and ideas written from years ago that they pull from. For them, it's probably more a matter of putting the pieces together into something that's repeatable and fitting for their band.
How can a band that has been together for so long still be putting together masterpieces such as A Moon Shape Pool when so many other bands lose their creative spark over time?
@@chantiaharper1475 Because they are not trying to replicate previous sounds, meaning everything they create is new and hasn't been influenced by their works of the past. They are also independent, they are not rushed to put or have the influence of a record label. They also take time between their albums, nothing is rushed.
Here is my answer: A Moon Shaped Pool is a great album but most of the songs in it are never released before song from Radiohead or from some of the members. For exemple this very Present Tense was composed by Yorke more than a decade ago. ua-cam.com/video/Jw4kcdnmP4k/v-deo.html&feature=emb_logo. Nevertheless Radiohead is still the best to me...
I've been looking for comments for a while here to see if anyone feels this too. It's just insane. The music feels so tense, chaotic, and abrasive. But all of a sudden the guitar just turns peaceful and relaxing here, all accompanied by Thom's "In you I'm lost",giving it this romantic and loving tone. Like if there's always going to be a beautiful rose within a stack of thorns.
MSP is such a well aged full bodied vintage piece. Full of no nonsense poetic art, nothing rushed, aged to perfection. Only could have come from a mature sensibility that is RH2016.
I agree. I didn't like it for the first few months, then: BOOM. It hit me. It's beyond words. Just visceral, intricate and opaque. I agree with the liquid analogies, hinted by the album art itself: it's this swirl of sound and sensation... eludes concrete definition.
Two guitars, a drumbox, and the most melodic of all instruments, Tom's voice. Nothing else nothing more. And you get the most nuanced, refined and exquisite music of our days. Timeless

its great to back a winning horse. I've been following Radiohead since i was about 14/15 years old (the first time a friend of mine put an earphone playing karma police into my ear on a school trip to the London Aquarium), since then i've spent alot of time explaining/sticking up for the depressive/melancholy tone to most of their work. Trying to explain that im not going to kill myself, that i don't hate myself etc etc. To see them continually growing to this day is so rewarding. Johnny Greenwood scoring Oscar winning films, Thom Yorke working with Hans Zimmer for Blue Planet, and the entire band are STILL putting out incredible work as they all near 50 years old.

Dang, the boys just channeled the divine right there. Even Johnny's expression at the end is of a man that just touched Infinity. It's thoroughly lodged in my head, and I don't ever want it to leave.
la música de Radiohead te da esa sensación que no la tenes con ninguna otra cosa en el mundo. Melancolía, nostalgia, euforia, paz y muchas cosas mas se juntan en un solo lugar. Es increíble e inexplicable.
For all their technical prowess, their amazingly expansive sounds, and all their engineering wizardry...this is a prime example of why I've been a fan (and love) Radiohead from their inception. Beautiful songwriting and incredible musicianship. It's what separates flash- in- the- pan and forgotten artists from the ones that you can't stop listening to....even 30 plus years later.
My grandma passed two weeks ago and I hadn't cried until now. Not because I was holding it back, I was welcoming it, but nothing was coming. I didn't want to force anything. I just remembered that this song was written in reference to a lot of deaths for the band, and I was thinking about the optimistic tones of the song and it reminded me of my grandma, she had such a loving and fun spirit on the inside that was hard to notice because of her firm exterior... and I just fucking balled my eyes out. Death fucking sucks man. I miss my grandma so much and I wish I could have said goodbye before she died. Thanks for the great song though, Radiohead. Thanks for helping me let go.

3) Jonny's Leinenkugel's shirt
I think you're completely overinterpreting your 2nd point (Radiohead fans tend to overinterpret/overdo a lot), Jonny's look is literally as neutral as a look can be. It's impossible to read any specific emotion on his face for sure.

Jonny’s haunting guitar can only be matched by Thom’s other worldly vocals. This is not just a work of art....it’s a masterpiece.

I love how Jonny is like a billion years old and still has emo scenester hair.

I've been very depressed for the past few weeks, couldnt even bear to listen to any music, and this has put a huge smile on my face. Love this band so much.

How do you sit down and write a song like this. On another level.
You press one note. Then you press another note that sounds good after that one. And then it just forms itself.
after the third note is done prepare your fourth note.
All the music in this song was probably written in parts years ago; Radiohead has bits and ideas written from years ago that they pull from. For them, it's probably more a matter of putting the pieces together into something that's repeatable and fitting for their band.

There has to be some way to make a "From The Basement" version despite VH1 no longer exists.
What a performance by the CR78
How can a band that has been together for so long still be putting together masterpieces such as A Moon Shape Pool when so many other bands lose their creative spark over time?
Good question. Someone answer please. Need the formula.
@@chantiaharper1475 Because they are not trying to replicate previous sounds, meaning everything they create is new and hasn't been influenced by their works of the past. They are also independent, they are not rushed to put or have the influence of a record label. They also take time between their albums, nothing is rushed.
@@chantiaharper1475 yeah, essentially the "formula" you're looking for is that there is no formula
Like you said in ur comment "creativity"
I live for these chord progressions. Utterly transcendent.
Lovely stuff .. But when is Jonny Greenwood gonna age ?
When he cuts his hair ...
Soooo never?
i think never
Looks exactly like he did many years ago. Thom changed a lot though
His hiding behind his hair, theres old man middle aged man behind it
3:00 this part makes me cry, it feels heavenly, i can’t describe it
I've been looking for comments for a while here to see if anyone feels this too.
Yesssss. My soul smiles when i listen to that part everytime@@marcosrodriguez830
MSP is such a well aged full bodied vintage piece. Full of no nonsense poetic art, nothing rushed, aged to perfection. Only could have come from a mature sensibility that is RH2016.
so true. these guys just get better with age.
I agree. I didn't like it for the first few months, then: BOOM. It hit me. It's beyond words. Just visceral, intricate and opaque. I agree with the liquid analogies, hinted by the album art itself: it's this swirl of sound and sensation... eludes concrete definition.
They will always be timeless, even in the future..
in the present tense
That is the definition of timeless yes.
... anyone else notice what happened here
