Beautiful car. I agree with you about planned obsolescence of newer cars. The new cars are meant to last about 10 years and then be scrapped. All of my 5 cars are old. Newest one I own is a 2002 Audi with almost 200k on it. I maintain them myself and only rarely do they go to a mechanic (transmissions only). I still consider anything built in the mid 2000's as a new car. I was taught to take care of stuff and not just trade it in every 3 years.
Really wonderful to read this after a year! Sorry, just saw this comment. Yep, my newest car is from 2005, the rest are much older but still going strong 💪 👍🏽😊
Thanks. It has the AMG sport package, and I had the secondary cats removed, installed an x-pipe, and removed the rear mufflers (only has primary cats and the middle resonator now) and had it tuned by OE Tuning. Runs good for heavy car. Also tinted the windows limo black and removed the S550 from the back so no one really knows what kind of big Mercedes it is.
Cheers Suzairy, thanks for watching and the comment, I love the CE, it's my fave of this model variant, and the SEC remains one of my most favourite of ALL Merc models 👍🏾😊
@@ChrisWeevilGarageI definately love the SEC too.. but the r/tax scares me. So the CE is the best next thing with the opening rear window & B-pillarless.
Hi Chris! Lovely W124 in manual transmission some more! 😍 I got myself a 1994 E280 masterpiece... just wondering before you replaced the coils to Eibach Pro Kit springs, how was the oem overall? You mentioning OEM Shocks + Eibach Pro Kit springs as the combo ever really intrigued me to go for this setup too... Can you give comments and a little review of the eibach springs and is it really worth it to change it? Can’t seem to find any on your channel.
Nice car, well done! For me the difference in comfort was negligible, still very comfy, but the car felt more stable in corners with the Eibach progressive springs, that's for sure, less wallow and body roll 😀👍🏾🙏🏽
5.8k? Wow. Absolutely cheap and nice. I had no problem paying that amount. Easily. But here is my suggestion, Chris. So next time, do a review on the maintenance, mechanical parts, cost and so on
These are superb cars. I’ve never seen a W124 without a sunroof which is interesting. I have a 1990 W124 260E, and previously had a 1991 C124 300CE. These cars were the definition of ‘The Best Or Nothing’.
Hi Chris, Just getting your advice, have put Eibach springs on Bilstein OEM shocks for comfort but now when I go over bumps, it has a knocking sound as Jason from M1 Performance (yep went there for full oils change and other stuff) mentioned that due to the OEM shocks longer travel time, it cannot react in time due to the lowered shocks, is this something normal? Or am I missing something. Btw this W124 and your W126 videos are my favourites as my family has had these cars since way back when, truly timeless masterpieces of engineering. Keep making awesome vids and would love your advice😊👍. Till then cheers!
Hey bud, hmm, I never had that issue with the E30 or this W124, it could be the spring is not sitting well on the baseplate or something. One easy and cheap fix would be to wrap the upper and lower parts of the springs with rubber hose as a buffer between the 2 parts, see if that works first before changing anything, good luck!!🙏🏽😊
@@ChrisWeevilGarage can't help watching this over and over again, really good video of one of the best machines out there. Super cool. I was a proud owner of a 260E W124 and a 300se W126 and your clip really brings back those beautiful memories.. Thanks Guy!! Yeah, I love these old Mercs, there's something quite special about them, been a big fan for a long time, but this is my first W124 and I'm thrilled with it 😊🙏🏽👍🏾
i've experienced this car when i was a kid when my dad has it, it was auto, and the gear stick is wooden finish and it has mercedes emblem on the top of the gear stick. the only gets me triggered is the RIMS! if restore to it's original, it would be a masterpiece!
Loved this review. The best looking benz till date. The new ones can't come close. Can you do more videos on specialists and workshops who works on older cars. The sort of technology upgrades we can do to it to keep it usable this day and age? I enjoyed my ownership experience if a w124 230e uk spec during 2010 till 2012 until i totalled it in a crash in Tanjong Malim. The car saved my life that day. I'd love to buy another one someday.
Wow!! So glad to hear the car did its job and protected u in the crash! Yeah, these cars are rock solid and over-engineered at best. There'll be more videos coming on this car, this is just the first of many. Pls subscribe if u haven't so u don't miss out! 🙏🏽😀👍🏾
There should be a sticker that says "Gentlemen drives 4 pedals" *Seriously this is the first time i heard of this kind of Reverse gear (manual). It's usually comes as dogleg. So if you fail to pull up, does it goes 2nd or sth else?
Yes it does go into 2nd, and the car has enough torque to move off in 2nd easily, so I have to be careful. Now the tricky part is hill starts, no handbrake per se, so I have to pull a lever to release the footbrake just as I move off, still getting used to it 😉
If you were in Europe almost all the European cars are manual which is there normal day to day commuter but here in Malaysia a car like this with manual is a god sent.
100% correct!! In fact, in some parts of Europe, manuals outsell autos. Here though, they're going the way of the dodo.... sad 😞 Thanks for watching and the feedback Den!!🙏🏽😊👍🏾
Yes! I agree and I did consider it bro, BUT, I already have a big cc old Merc (the W126) and I JUST managed to get classic status for it, so honestly, I didn't wanna start paying ridiculous annual road tax again for a 280E. This 230E road tax is still liveable, rm671 a year 😉
I recently lucked into a 125,000-mile E300 multivalve 3.0 diesel estate for about the same money. Best car I've ever owned. Old school quality that you just don't get any more.
Oh man, that's a keeper!! Fantastic buy Tony! 😀 The W124 Estate variants are highly prized here (and triple/quadruple the price of the sedan) and rightly so, proper, proper wagons they are. Congrats on that, well done!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🙏🏽😊
Cheers Chris, these wagons are normally big money over here too and low mileage ones are really rare. I'm hoping it will see me out! They're not quick off the mark but once they get moving it's amazing how they pick up speed, it's almost mystical! Great load space too, a really practical shape. I keep finding examples of really thoughtful design that modern cars don't have.
@@tonymiddlehurst8438 gotta agree on that, these old Mercs have a lot of character that I find very appealing indeed. And tbh, this W124 was a surprise buy for me, since I already have a W126 280SE, so a second Merc wasn't in the cards, but I made the wonderful mistake of going to view it 80km away, and that was that. This is the best tonic for the haze. The seats, the gear shifting like a dream, what a steal, Chris. Just enjoyed seeing your enjoyment. Haha. Speaking of classics, I am thinking of getting or rather rescuing it and turning it electric or PHEV. Do you know of any mechanics in KL which do this? I cant seem to find any. We dont need any reminder with the haze that climate change, toxic air is a problem. I'm not sure how car enthusiasts and petrol heads will like the idea, but we need to find a balance between keeping classics alive and being 'green'. So I'm really keen on this.

Yes indeed it was! Sold to a friend a few months ago 😊🙏🏽👍🏾
My dad have a silver one
It just keeps going
Built like a tank
(he also have a volvo 240 so that's two tanks haha)
2 tanks indeed! Both the 240 and W124 were over-engineered, amazingly hardy cars 👍🏾😀
U done it again. What a beauty u got. Worth every Sen
Cheers Frankie!!👍🏾😊🙏🏽
@@ChrisWeevilGarage since I posted this I bought a 2007 Mercedes S550 black on black also.
@@Long-nd8bq that is fantastic news bud!! Congrats and well done, excellent acquisition, wow 😃👍🏽🙏🏽
Love it! Still kept my 230CE... now 7 yrs already.
@@suzairyibrahim8168 definitely! With the SEC it's best to get classic status for it, otherwise, ouch 😁
Hi Chris! Lovely W124 in manual transmission some more! 😍
I got myself a 1994 E280 masterpiece... just wondering before you replaced the coils to Eibach Pro Kit springs, how was the oem overall? You mentioning OEM Shocks + Eibach Pro Kit springs as the combo ever really intrigued me to go for this setup too...
Can you give comments and a little review of the eibach springs and is it really worth it to change it? Can’t seem to find any on your channel.
Nice car, well done! For me the difference in comfort was negligible, still very comfy, but the car felt more stable in corners with the Eibach progressive springs, that's for sure, less wallow and body roll 😀👍🏾🙏🏽
I have w124 from 92 , 2.0 engine automatic , so lovely car , for pleasure driving , so quiet engine and no issues
Nice one!! Yup, these are still fantastic cars 🙏🏽👍🏾
Thanks for watching and the comment too!!😃
5.8k? Wow. Absolutely cheap and nice. I had no problem paying that amount. Easily. But here is my suggestion, Chris.
So next time, do a review on the maintenance, mechanical parts, cost and so on
Good idea!! Thanks for watching and the suggestion!!👍🏾🙏🏽😊
These are superb cars. I’ve never seen a W124 without a sunroof which is interesting. I have a 1990 W124 260E, and previously had a 1991 C124 300CE. These cars were the definition of ‘The Best Or Nothing’.
Oh nice!!! Always loved the CE, it's on my bucket list, alongside it's bigger sibling the SEC 😀😀😀👍🏾🙏🏽
Yes the CE was a lovely car. The SEC is on my bucket list too 😄👍.
Hi Chris,
Just getting your advice, have put Eibach springs on Bilstein OEM shocks for comfort but now when I go over bumps, it has a knocking sound as Jason from M1 Performance (yep went there for full oils change and other stuff) mentioned that due to the OEM shocks longer travel time, it cannot react in time due to the lowered shocks, is this something normal?
Watching this makes me love me W124 manual more and more, literally makes me want to go out for a drive 🚗. Now that the cross state ban is lifted, feeling like a Genting run with my buddy Derrick in his amazing Toyota Corrolla😎
Super cool. I was a proud owner of a 260E W124 and a 300se W126 and your clip really brings back those beautiful memories.. There's that "something special" aura of these old Mercedes that keeps haunting you back ounce you're hooked on it . Keep it flowin' man .... 👍. P/S : may I know where the previous owner did that splendid interior ?... Just in case if I decide to get one of these gems again 😬
The TE37 wheels are a conversation starter for sure, lol!! I'm okay with them, I wasn't at first, hahahaha!!😉
This proves it. TE's look good on everything.

Amazing condition and great buy and fantastic review:)
Cheers bro, thank you!! Glad u enjoyed it 🙏🏽👍🏽😊
There should be a sticker that says
"Gentlemen drives 4 pedals"
*Seriously this is the first time i heard of this kind of Reverse gear (manual). It's usually comes as dogleg. So if you fail to pull up, does it goes 2nd or sth else?
Yes it does go into 2nd, and the car has enough torque to move off in 2nd easily, so I have to be careful. Now the tricky part is hill starts, no handbrake per se, so I have to pull a lever to release the footbrake just as I move off, still getting used to it 😉
@@ChrisWeevilGarage Never thought about it that way. That is interesting.
@@itsgerardchin yeah, I try as much as possible not to ride/balance the clutch too much on hill starts/slopes, not too good for its longevity 😊
I got 2 W124 200D and E230 and 1 W123 ranging from 85 - 95 if i'm not mistaken. Real man will definitely appreciate classic cars hahaha.

If you were in Europe almost all the European cars are manual which is there normal day to day commuter but here in Malaysia a car like this with manual is a god sent.
100% correct!! In fact, in some parts of Europe, manuals outsell autos. Here though, they're going the way of the dodo.... sad 😞
Thanks for watching and the feedback Den!!🙏🏽😊👍🏾
3.0L 280E Master Peice will be the best option bro. But 230E are good bargain.
Yes! I agree and I did consider it bro, BUT, I already have a big cc old Merc (the W126) and I JUST managed to get classic status for it, so honestly, I didn't wanna start paying ridiculous annual road tax again for a 280E. This 230E road tax is still liveable, rm671 a year 😉
@@ChrisWeevilGarage yeah bro, i forgot that you already own W126. Then buying 230E will be a good option.

@darrenfoo2012 thank you for recomand, but im not often refer wiki, becoz some info from wiki anre not accurate.
One test drive around the block and I just had to buy it, hahaha!!😁
@@ChrisWeevilGarage You'll not regret it I'm sure and you'll never lose money at this sort of price.

Have you watched Geostorm? Lol!! I just watched it and that's exactly what Gerard Butler's character does in the movie 😂
