    Such a great video! So helpful too see a great balanced trainer using bigger dogs and particularly doing it in dog parks with lots of distractions! Thank you so much

    Hey there this is John from Minnesota, US. Following and implementing your training sessions with my teenage Drahthaar. They are awesome!!! Still need a lot of work on impulse control and for her to pay attention to me and not the reward, but getting there. Thanks for making your knowledge available

    Love this! THANK YOU! My 8 (almost 9) week old GSP/Lab puppy walks pretty well on her leash, and I give lots of verbal positive reinforcement, but the jumping and nipping/biting/tugging (when playing) is what has been the thorn in my side… I’ve used a few pieces of advice from other videos of yours as well (specifically the Kong meatcicle for crate training worked WONDERS for me today)… Your advice and videos make me feel empowered to train my dog well! I will be pursuing professional puppy training as well, but even just the smallest tips and tricks that I’ve gained in the meantime from your videos have been amazing! Thank you for all you do!

    This boxer very much reminds me of my six month old ESS. He is doing fantastic with most of his training until we are out around distractions in the real world. Using a slip type collar makes a night and day difference in focus on me.

    Have you ever thought about using a head collar rather than a prong collar? I haven't got anything against prong collars, just would be really interested on your views on head collars 😀

    • @shannonlu5837
      @shannonlu5837 Рік тому

      Hi! i think because some dogs may take a longggg time to get used to a head collar, it may work for some dogs, but some that are very high energy like this one, and spins a lot, head collars may not be the best, the head collar can cause whiplash, neck injuries or spinal injuries, but again, not for everydog. same as prong collars, its not for every dog! :)

    How long would a prong collar be required for Will? Always or will the dog learn quickly and no longer need it.

    • @wspfoo149
      @wspfoo149 3 роки тому +4

      He will learn eventually! But until the owner has 100 percent control over the dog you should use the prong. Prong collars are great

    Can you suggest a difference between the prong and Hrm Springer? My boxer is amazing to walk however on a harness he always wants to pull a little ahead. He also has a hard time when other dogs get around us he will literally lay down and refuses to move, then lurches if they get close just to play never aggressive. If anyone could suggest which collar would be preferred I would greatly appreciate it. I didn’t want to use the prong as I heard they may get used to it. He is 2.5 years old now and just needs a slight tune up as seen in this vid as far as I can tell. Thanks ❤

    Great video! My dog's walks have transformed because of your guidance! However, he's still wanting to be up front and no amount of correction has helped that. We also have a baby who will start crawling soon and the dog has started to show some aggression to other small kids. Do you have any trainers in Canada that either work with Fenrir or you know that employ your strategies? I'm at a loss!

    I'm interested to know more about what you said at the beginning of the video about having different tools as signals for different styles of walks. I am currently doing behaviour modification with my older dog based on your videos and a slip leash, it is working brilliantly. Will I be able to return him to walking on a harness and have our progress translate? Similarly I am training a new 7month old rescue dog who's engagement is brilliant but has started coming out of her shell and getting a bit scatty brained on walks occasionally, I have also been using a slip leash on her and getting success, but would like to get her in a harness also...

    I have a 1 year old boxer. He lunges at people and level 10 reactive towards dogs, specially small ones. I have taken him to behavioral training and dog school. It is extremely challenging and I only hope training will help. I am not so sure. He is working line so prey drive is off the roof. Wish someone could share experience if had any boxer dogs previously. This is wild and I am doing my best. Exercise and training everyday. 4 hour park walks every single day to release his energy…

    When I bought my first prong for my pittie she adjusted really well. Became much easier to walk. Now, she gets to where she pulls so hard she ends up with marks in her neck. Gonna get some rubber tips but idk how to get her to engage w me in anyway. She's so distractible. Not to mention her destructive side, chews on everything BUT her toys. *sigh* she's a work in progress.

    My boxer is a year old. He usually has not aggression issues. When I step off the back porch and walk around the backyard, he's suddenly attacking my feet, boxing me, jumping. I can't take a single step without him doing something. Our other dog has actually started trying to protect me. How do u train him to chill out?

    If you're ever coming near Basingstoke/Reading, let me know Will, I've got a little guy who needs to meet you :P It's quite literally a 50/50 whether he plays with the dog/person he meets or decides to fly off the handle. Once he knows the dog/person he will smother them with affection, but trying to walk past a new dog is a nightmare!

    This kinda changes my original view of fenrir. Now i think the message comes across wrongly. The reason Will introduces prong is cause of time / dogs age and its easyer to get the pop right for inexperianced owners. I train with slipleads and just do turns. and it took my dog a few turns then he learned im also not as stricked as Will might be... but still after 4 months i sometimes get the pop wrong and my GF messes up with the pop 10x more, BUT we do command -> punishment(pop) or reward if he comply with the command. DONT EVER THINK OF THE PRONG AS A QUICK FIX!!!
    The use of prong should only be a last resort choice if you consult a trainer like Will or Tom Davis.
