Thank you for showing the proper use of prongs. My dog isn't a big dog, only 10kg, however he is very very strong and I have a medical condition which causes my shoulders to dislocate easier. So every time we walked him on slip he would dislocate my shoulder, but on a prong he has only done it once. Prong saved my dog from being re homed. He now lives his best life and only uses prong when we go somewhere new and exciting.

There need to be more trainers like you and videos like this. People need to start to realise that it isn't the prong collar that is the problem, but the person using it wrong. People kill people daily by driving recklessly. Doesn't mean all cars need to be banned. Excellent video!
that's like a horrible comparison. Prong collar he said himself pretty much never use it. Very particular and special cases where he uses it. And that's considering he's a dog trainer and people take their "problem" dogs to him consistently and even then he doesn't use it in 99% of cases he said.
@@jorgeherrera1074 It's not a horrible comparison. He didn't say people should use it in every scenario. Just that it shouldn't be banned alltogether. That's part of the "person using it wrong".
@@TechnoMasterBoy could be. To me it seems more like it should be banned and only allowed to be purchased by professional dog trainers. Even they will likely misuse it at times, but we know us plebs will definitely misuse it a lot more and our pets will suffer for it.
Thank you for putting out these methods that actually work. Especially at my age as I don’t have to think too much, but do what’s on the screen and it works. I really needed this. I had become terrified of walking my new dog as he was already in the adult and he pulled a lot a real lot stronger than me, but this has helped me so much. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your channel has helped me tremendously. We recently adopted a Lab mix from our local Humane Society. At 9 mo. he is over 55 lbs. The vets believe he will be 65 lbs or more when mature. He is a very loving dog, very good in social situations with people or dogs. We've been having difficulties walking him - pulling, inattentive, nose to the ground, etc. After watching one of your videos using the prong collar I ordered one: the Herm Sprenger Prong collar. What a difference that collar made on our walk this morning. We actually had a pleasant walk where he remained by my side, not crossing my path or pulling. Your video made a huge difference in my interaction with my new pet. Just had to let you know how much you have helped our situation. Keep making those videos.
I'm about to start my journey with the prong collar, I hope I will have a happy ending with my 110 lb 12 month old cane corso, glad it worked for you fingers crossed.
I know this is an older video but I really hope you see this, my dog milo is a 21kg staffy, last week he pulled me so hard I now have 6 blisters on my hand, one so severe it ripped the skin clean off, bled for days and also got infected and weeped. After using harnesses, flexi leads, spent £100s on training, slip leads, he would pull to the point he couldn’t breathe and his eyes would almost pop. I brought a prong collar after watching so many educational videos, I can now walk him with 2 fingers, he still pulls slightly however not even half as bad as he was. I kept the rubber parts on my prong collar but if he starts to disengage I will remove the rubber parts. I can’t praise a prong collar enough, it’s saved him hurting me and himself.
I'm so pleased thus worked for you, I've just ordered one for the same reason, it's getting to the point I don't want to walk my mastiff anymore, I want to keep him and this might be the last straw.
@martharubio3176 ah hi so nice if you to get in touch, very good, we've been using a prong collar now since this reply but he's so strong he pulls anyway, I have in the last 2 days started using a head collar (just ordered a better quality one dogmatic) but so far much better, he now pretty much walks at my side; when he sees another dog he so wants to play but with the head collar he can't get away from me! With the prong collar he pulled me into the road and that was the last time I used that. So all in all I'm very happy with the head collar. Wow I can't believe how kind you've contacted me thank me, I hope you are well.
Thank you for telling your story. This is exactly why a prog collar is a critical tool in the dog training world. I honestly believe that it saves so many dogs lives. I see so many "positive Only" trainers spreading misinformation about this tool because it looks scary and painful. If used correctly it is an incredible tool that can be used to enable owners with the ability to effectively communicate especially in high distraction environments. Also, if used correctly most dogs only need the prong in the beginning and are able to step down to a Slip Lead Martingale or flat collar after your dog understands what is expected of them. I think it is dangerous when some trainers refuse to understand that they might not like to use tools such as Prong or E-collars but that doesn't mean that they can't be safe and humain if used correctly in limited situations then phased out when the behavior has been corrected. Not everyone has the time to use positive only training especially if the dog isvery large, you are not physically able to control your dog safely, or your dig is doing things that put their lives at risk, etc. I appreciate these channels for their balanced methods.
This worked beautifully with my Cane Corso. He did pretty well with me, but ragdolled my wife and daughters (9/15yo). He is a different dog on leash now. Perfect training tool. Those short pops and verbal praise got the same results as seen here. Working on heel now. Love your videos sir.
So glad to hear this, I've a 10 month old cane corso and getting excited when sees other dogs, I'm going to give this ago as soon as the collar arrives. Is your cane corso still good on a lead?
Big Props Will ! This video is the absolute BEST explanation of the use of a prong collar. I do not watch any other video on Canine training unless I want to see how to do it wrong! Will is the trainer of the year!
What a transformation!!! Very similar to when I put my Saint Bernard through the boot camp course. It changed our relationship for the better and she is VERY obedient and is a joy to be around. When I get my next Saint I will use the perfect puppy course (I only wish I had found it when my Saint now was still a puppy 😂). Thank you so much to everyone at Fenrir! Keep up the amazing videos 😊
Just got a little mixed Labrador puppy. I grew up with a mildly trained basset hound that loved to take me for a walk. Your lessons have helped me massively so cheers! Love your fashion sense also G 👌🏻
I’d like to hear more about how the prong is incorrectly used so I don’t do it!!! Maybe there’s a video already. I’m looking. Thank you so much for helping so many of us.
Well done this is the best video I’ve seen on this topic - I’m so glad you’re not using food - I try to explain to people all the time to not use food when training animals - that it just teaches them to mooch - it teaches them to pick up rubbish off the ground - it teaches them to only be interested in you when you have something for them and dis engaged when you don’t- and it makes them susceptible to taking bates from strangers - Praise and correction is the best way to train any dog -it makes the bond and look to you as the pack leader- I had great Danes and I had to use a prong collar on 1 male for a short period of time - they are not a forever tool & when used correctly they’re a wonderful tool - Thank you for taking the time and having the courage to demonstrate this - I know there is so many reactive people out there who really do not know how to train problem dogs - and certainly don’t know how to deal with problem dogs - the fact is that if a dog remains a problem like this it is going to end up being put down - you have saved this dogs life - and you’ve saved a lot of other owners, a lot of pain and problems as well - a game well done
Hey man! Thanks for all your videos, my family has just moved away so my family’s dog is luckily living with me now but unfortunately his pulling tendencies were never corrected or trained out while he was young. Your videos have definitely helped me start us down a better path! Would love to see more videos like this of behavioral modifications and what to do when the dog gets distracted or pulls away. You’re the best!
We have tried so many things with our husky/shepherd mix and this is the only thing that has actually worked. And I mean by far the best thing we've tried. You are a genius!
We recently rescued a 50 pound mix ... hound? something. As a friend for our granddaughter (who is 9). I'll start with trying to use the slip lead like you did with Sandy and if that doesn't work we'll move up to the prong collar. Thanks for sharing. Felix the Dog was abandoned, then an older couple took him but he's 100% a ball of energy and they wanted a couch dog so he was dropped at a shelter who took care of him, but he had a crate and a yard. So he was safe and cared for, just not trained. Felix is about 8 months. Anyway -thanks again.
I have a 5 month old DDB. He is fairly independent but I’m also very strong. He has improved in walking and we are in Beginner dog training. Great video brother!
I have a German Shepherd 19months old still pulling badly. I use a halti but it's not working how it should. Thank you so much for this quality video excited for my future with my German Shepherd. Thank You a thousand times 🙏
I have an American Bull Terrier mix, watched your video on controlling the dog pulling with the golden retriever. I was so impressed I took Max out to the local city park. I had him on a harness but he was still awesome under your instructions. Starting to have problems of him obeying sit order, verbal and hand signal. He is not usually food motivated but will try different treats.
Thank you for sharing your video. I have recently rehomed, a now 5 month Cane Corso/Bull Mastiff male. Your videos have helped tweak his training. Love your consistent reminder of Calm, Consistent, Leadership.
Very nice and the explanation of the tool is clear for owners. The hardest part for some is getting over the emotional side that has been mislearned through social media. Clear communication for both handler and dog.
so helpful I have a 10 month miniature poodle who I just tried for 20 minutes with eye contact he did great thank you will be watching more of your videos. My poodle Rico is extremely hyper so I'm listening. Thank you.
Thanks so much for your dog training content. Please could you do more with emergency cases like Kendrick? We're stuck in lockdown in Italy with no access to trainers and we don't know whether a slip lead or prong collar would solve our problems. We adopted a Belgian shepherd mix after he'd spent most of his life in a shelter (from the age of 1-4). So he's very independent, high prey drive, aggressive to male dogs and not food motivated. A great dog in the home but a very powerful boy and we need to get him retrained and listening to us to save all our lives (not to be dramatic but it's true). Thanks so much for your videos, they're really great, clear and sensible. This one with Kendrick gave me hope!
Excellent! A prong collar saved me with my 130 pound rhodesian ridgeback. He was a pulling beast. I only had to use the prong a few times, then never again.
Thank you so much for your videos done 30mins with DDB and she's walking to heel beautifully. She's had a rough start to life but hope to turn her into the confident girl she can be.
I am shocked your not using a slip lead 😂 i was surprised to hear to using a prong collar but I really worked for this case. Wow what a transformation 👍
I just want to say thank you especially for this video. You said it is in this breed that they are not that much engaged as other dogs might be because they are always on guard. I am owning a 5 month old Bordeaux dog and I was so worried because she was not looking that often and was not that reactive as other dogs were. But your video made me so much more relaxed and now only 2 weeks after watching and working with her she now is paying so much more attention and looks for guidance. Of course we still have a long way to go but since then I see positive results. Thank you so much. I really love your videos and your kind of how you work with the dogs.

I think your fantastic Will - your approach is reasonable and fair and I’ve never seen a dog your training be scared or anxious. A good balanced outlook 👍
Love the higher level context, awesome video. Would love more videos with Kendrick type dogs. Was helpful to hear more about the breed traits and how that personality affects the training. Thank you!
I absolutely love your approach! Engagement and energy! Thank you for your invaluable information! I want to be a trainer so bad and you are a true inspiration.
I have been watching your videos & trying some of the lessons. I have taken a Lab/Spaniel fro a rescue centre. Pippa is 4 years old & has been kept in a crate all her life. Hoping the leash one works but she has never been out or trained in anything so I know there is a long road ahead. She reacts with lots of things but mainly dogs & is uncontrolable when one approaches. Will keep watching as I want to do my best for her. She is a very affectionate dog at home. Thanks for these tips. Iris.
This was such a helpful video. I have a foster dog who is so strong. She is a point mix, and constantly chasing squirrels and deer in my area. She's tried to pull herself in front of cars before and proceeded in pulling me down several times. I was very hesitant to use a prong collar as they seem so mean. But this video has given me the direction and confidence I need to use them appropriately in order to correct her behavior. And then hopefully her leash manners will be enough to get her adopted! Thank You!
I have adopted a rescue puppy of 7 months that I have discovered in s a Pit mixed with a few other breeds who behaves very much on walks like Kendrik! I have a feeling this will be very useful! Thanks!
I was against prong collers in the past because of thier rep and the harm I have seen caused when used incorrectly. However, after seeing you speak before and now this I'm 100% beind you Will if it means saving a dogs life or preventing it from being given up then to me some slight discomfort is well worth the end result. Keep it up!

I have a 10 month newfie, who is 100lbs. When we went to get him from the groomers, we got pulled into reality of how strong he has become. Litterally . . he almost ran into traffic and almost broke his collar when pulling. I praying this video will help!
Great to see some brilliant ideas on large breeds, little pooches pulling aren't really pulling let's be real. Just received my prong collar and adjusted it to fit, looking forward to seeing how we get on, normally walking is ok it's dog reactivate I've got the problem with. Great demo and a lovely dog! Prongs are IMHO much kinder than nose harnesses (haltis etc). I have used prongs effectively to teach new big dogs to loose lead walk. I also use one for running with my Herder at the start of the run when he’s attached to my belt harness, stops him pulling my spine through my stomach 😄

What kind of prong collar did you get? I have the exact same breed as you and the exact same issue, she is about 8 months and I love her but I have been using literally the same correction he used with this dog, but with a flat collar, and it makes no difference whatsoever. I looked them up online and there seemed to be several types, and I didn't hear that he specified a type.
@@Julian-bs6nx got her collar in the mail Saturday night!! We worked with it in the yard for an hour or so yesterday and then I took her out to the park today and the difference it has made has been amazing!! Like walking a different dog. :) She did not once try to pull my arm out of the socket, and instead of her ears being all forward and her charging around at everything in sight like she has no sense, she was walking at my side and checking in on me instead of everything else going on around her. I'm super proud of her and how well she did. I don't think every breed or even every individual of certain breeds need that type of collar, but it has been a lifesaver with mine. This is such great news! We love hearing stories like this. Well done for keeping at it and long may it continue!
I watch this repeatedly. You show so many good steps and explain/show how the dog’s behavior modifies and why. I have hope.
@@chrissey663how is it going now ? :)
Does this prong collar work for small breeds? I have a 8 month old Lakeland terrier who,is an extreme puller.
Thank you for telling your story. This is exactly why a prog collar is a critical tool in the dog training world. I honestly believe that it saves so many dogs lives.
I see so many "positive Only" trainers spreading misinformation about this tool because it looks scary and painful. If used correctly it is an incredible tool that can be
used to enable owners with the ability to effectively communicate especially in high distraction environments.
So helpful! I'm working on this a little every day with our sweet 6 month old Labrador. Thank you!
👏👏👏 we have a rescue Dogue de Bordeaux who is 3 years old the exact same problem so helpful.
I really like this guy and how he explains why he’s doing what he’s doing. Keep up the great work!
The most down-to-earth dog training I've seen on youtube tbh. Great vids mate!!! Cheers from Portugal
Thank you for sharing your video. I have recently rehomed, a now 5 month Cane Corso/Bull Mastiff male. Your videos have helped tweak his training. Love your consistent reminder of Calm, Consistent, Leadership.
love your channel, your connection with dogs is absolutely delightful to watch 👍👍
Yes please, more videos like this one Will on behaviour modification.
Extremely thankful for this! Just practiced this with my two pitties and the result is amazing.
Will’s unwavering dedication to his craft is unparalleled! 🏆
best training channel on youtube, been training my 16 week boarder collie as your videos and they really work great job, keep them coming
Excellent video rewarding the dog with lots of praise For me is the best way to get respect from your dog and a good bond👍
Fascinating. Really interesting to see this kind of collar used with such a light touch on such a powerful dog. Kendrick’s such a good, happy boy! ❤
Very nice and the explanation of the tool is clear for owners.
The hardest part for some is getting over the emotional side that has been mislearned through social media.
Clear communication for both handler and dog.
Watching some ‘bad pulling’ videos and realising my dog is worse. I’m going to watch this video multiple times! I will get this 💪🏼💪🏼
😆 🤣 not as bad as my American bully xl
Gona buy a halti head collar, hope it helps.
so helpful I have a 10 month miniature poodle who I just tried for 20 minutes with eye contact he did great thank you will be watching more of your videos. My poodle Rico is extremely hyper so I'm listening. Thank you.
Thank you for changing my view of prong collars,!
You're an amazing trainer. This is helping me with my 11month few days with my 2pitbulls...
You got a new subscriber! I'm gonna be a a new dog owner soon. Main issue is I'm new and I'm only 5 ft 😅. Yes, I'm tiny lady. However, I fell in love with the pitbull and planning on get one, so these videos really help!
Thank you!
You're a genius. Not just the training, but the way you break down the process 👌👌💯🙏
Iris.
Thanks so watching Iris, hope training goes well!
Brilliant thanks. We just got a pup Bordeaux 14weeks old. Already pulling. I’ll get her a prong collar.
Thank You!
Me too! Our foster is very good and loves dogs but I worry the pulling will lead to leash aggression if not prevented. Plus it's a pain to walk her!
I love when you go outdoors. would love to see more of these with other breeds
You are thet best dog coller , comfy fit... directing and attainable with a a happy way...
I have adopted a rescue puppy of 7 months that I have discovered in s a Pit mixed with a few other breeds who behaves very much on walks like Kendrik! I have a feeling this will be very useful! Thanks!
I have 2 beautiful cane corso / mastiff puppies about 5 months old , having a bit of trouble but these are helping a bit ! Hello from Los Angeles
I was against prong collers in the past because of thier rep and the harm I have seen caused when used incorrectly. However, after seeing you speak before and now this I'm 100% beind you Will if it means saving a dogs life or preventing it from being given up then to me some slight discomfort is well worth the end result. Keep it up!
Thank u very much for showing the proper use of a prong collar.
Fair play for putting this up. Honest real dog work.
Yes! Please more of these videos. Prong is the best tool for dog communication !!!!
Awesome demo. I am in training with a very tough 11 month old male gsd so i can appreciate
I have same breed 1yr old. Your videos really help me train him into the perfect not so little pooch!
Thankyou
Aw, such a gorgeous dog. Him loving on you around 11 mins was beautiful. I'm just about to try a slip lead on our 6 month old amstaff x for the first time and excited to see how she goes. I really value these videos, you are an excellent trainer and educator. Very similar to how I used to train my horse to lead!
Wish me luck, hopefully I'll be able to walk my dog again😊
Amazing!! Will buy this type of collar to our 6,5 month old Amstaff male today! 🔥🤙🏻
Thank you for this video very good demonstration of the responsible use of a prong collar.
finally out, you teased us out in the Skol Podcast, I had my eyes on the screen al this time. great
Thank you so much, same issues with my 10 month cane corso.
Ive just ordered a prong collar and I'm going to give this a go. Thanks
A point beautifully made and illustrated. Having seen your video I'll now be more comfortable occasionally using a prong collar to stop the dog lunging at other dogs whilst being walked. Thank you so very very much Will.
Thank you! This video is so helpful! I have a 1.5 year old Dogue de Bordeaux
Big dogs require big pats! Loved the video - subscribed after watching this and Sandy for your great instructions and demeanor.
That was excellent. I was nervous about prong training for my Australian Shepherd. Going to buy one. She’s made me fall amd gotten away a couple times because of it. Thank you so much for these. 🙏🏼
Great video. Straight to the point.
Once of the most informative prong collar and just training video I've seen . Love your channel and this helped me so much !
This is so helpful for my 14 weeks Rottweiler
Bro you are the man!! I have a miniature version happening in my Frenchton ( Frenchie/Boston terrier) I did not use a prong collar but just luring with praise and constant direction change and he is so much more engaged. Thank you so much for this content.
Great video I'm a 15stone male gym everyday I struggle to walk my boy his strength is outrageous again very friendly but very inquisitive 🤦🏻♂️🤣thanks for the advice 👍
I have a Cane Corso 7months old and 90lb. This video is exactly where I am with my dog. Pulls right through slip lead and has no interest in treats when on the leash. I know I have a problem but this video makes me optimistic. Just got this type of collar today.
Good luck Samantha! Let us know how training goes, you've got this 💪🏼
Did it work??
Hi I've just ordered a collar for my 10 month old cane corso 50kg hope it works this good. Did you get good results?
Almost exactly with my Malinois, no food drive when outside, so focused on sniffing, cats, children. Fixed by a prong collar. great video.
@@GeneralMoogle herm sprenger is best
@@Julian-bs6nx thanks! Looks like good reviews on those, appreciate you taking the time to reply :)
@@GeneralMoogle ofc lmk how your training goes!
@@Julian-bs6nx got her collar in the mail Saturday night!! We worked with it in the yard for an hour or so yesterday and then I took her out to the park today and the difference it has made has been amazing!! Like walking a different dog. :)
She did not once try to pull my arm out of the socket, and instead of her ears being all forward and her charging around at everything in sight like she has no sense, she was walking at my side and checking in on me instead of everything else going on around her. I'm super proud of her and how well she did. I don't think every breed or even every individual of certain breeds need that type of collar, but it has been a lifesaver with mine. No more shoulder injuries trying to walk the dog, and she is actually much happier during her walks now. And comes and sits as soon as I get out the collar and her leash and is happy about it. :)
Thanks again for your input. And obviously thanks to this awesome channel, I was at my wits end with her.
I wish u were near me, we had a trainer my corso didn't like, an miss used the prong, now were trying to fix , he launches at every dog we try to pass , i cant hold him so now i need my sons for walks . With your channel I'm hoping to fix these issues! Thank u
Love this video would be curious to see a dog more reactive, and higher energy to see the corrections you'd give
Thank you for posting this video. People need to see experts using tools effectively and realize that when used properly they are literally life savers. I. know you'll get some harsh feed back on this video, but you are doing good work.
Love how he clarified that prong collar is a training tool not an every day thing
@@nicocombs4990 it could be a training tool but for a dog like this it will probably become a regular every day thing but that’s not a problem if you use it correctly
Anyone that gives negative feed back is a moron and has no idea about training dogs.
@@nicocombs4990 Def nothing wrong using one for every day walking. Especially for people that spend no time.training.
Thank you so much for the wonderful teaching lesson. It was so needed for my family so we can safely walk our Pitbull.
Amazing principles and what a stunning dog 🐕
What a beautiful boy. I have followed your leash walking slip lead vids for our spaniel and we're getting there quickly! Thanks so much
Great lessons! I'm going to use this
Let us know how it goes Jeffrey!
