Lies of P Review - As Good As Bloodborne?

- Lies of P puts players in the shoes of Pinnochio in a new interpretation of the classic children’s story. The game puts a dark twist on the classic tale about lying, offering up an interesting new setting in the form of Krat.
The game pairs Bloodborne and Sekiro-inspired combat with quite a few of its own interesting ideas, especially in terms of how weapons work and how they can be further customized to a player’s own liking. Pairing these weapons up with Legion Arts that offer up even more utility and combat options opens up the game to quite a few interesting play styles, all of which can be equally viable against its wonderfully designed enemies and bosses if you’re good enough.
It’s great to see a relatively unknown developer come out and make such a great game like this. Literally the closest thing your gonna get to a Bloodborne sequel right now lol. Kudos to this team and I’ll gladly support these guys. Already looking forward to what they do in the future

This game will be an interesting test case. A new IP getting great reviews and great user feedback. Wonder how the player base will respond? If it "underperforms" I will be very sad.
If you're looking for a Bloodborne experience, just play the actual game instead of leaning heavily on the comparisons. Yes, it has striking similarities especially the menus and atmosphere, but play the game for what it has to offer. Not because you're looking for another Bloodborne

Played the demo, and it looked polished but I felt it missed the heaviness of from software titles.
You might very well be right, but they did take criticism from the demo and change things, like the roll. So it might be improved.
Man been waiting for anything that can give me another Bloodborne experience, and Lies of P looks like that will do that just nicely.
The game looks like a piece of garbage compared to Bloodborne graphically and gameplay wise. Bloodborne is deep especially in the chalice dungeons. You can actually do stealth in Bloodborne. The blood splatter in this cheap indie trash is laughable. Bloodborne has actual physics behind the blood splatter.
The graphics on the blood letting beast alone destroy this entire game.

I don't know, the artstyle and atmosphere is great in this game, but to compare with Bloodborne it needs much better level and world design. The game have almost no optional bosses or locations or different paths you can take. It has nothing close to Central Yharnam or Castle Cainhurst in terms of level design. Very enjoyable game though, just not on par with Bloodborne

Still on the fence even though I've been waiting for a year for this. I personally wasn't impressed with the demo but the gameplay I've seen lately has definitely has changed my mind. One things for sure, I have yet to see a negative review anywhere.

Is a great game and I’m loving it so far. But the story falls a little short in comparison to blood borne it lacks a little more mystery and crypticness and doesn’t satisfy the craving for cosmic horror if that’s what you were looking for

I prefer this story telling instead of going through item descriptions..gives the story a focus.
Eh cosmic horror was a lame cliche for me and I always hated how souls games are so against in your face story telling. This game for me was such a breathe of fresh air

I Played bloodborne so muchl. I did so many challis dungeons that I got the platinum and I didn't even try to platinum it. I seen the trophy

My biggest issue with the deno was the unforgiving parry window and small widow in which to predict enemy attacks. I'll give it another go upon full release, but i don't think they've changed any of that.

For those who didn't play the demo. The deflection works like Sekiro's, it doesn't disbalance the enemy for a riposte like in BB.
This is the core part of the game and everything else is built around it. The nerfed roll during lock on is to encourage deflection.
Standard block: recoverable hp loss (easy but costly)
Perfect guard: no hp loss and build enemy's nonvisible stagger meter. eg. When the Watchman boss does a chain attack, chain deflections are needed.

I highly doubt it's as good as Bloodborne, but it seems better than most souls like copy games.
I don't think it beats Bloodborne, as it has the Weapon Transformation system, and the Gothic Horror art style which I love, plus it has an amazing DLC to top it off.
well you can customized ur weapon parts and you also get a sekiro hand
Let's not forget pvp... countless replay potential due to the amount of weapons and builds. This is limited.

Them removing the demo stopped me from buying it. Only souls-like Ive played were Remnant 2 and Elden Ring which kicked my butt.
I was so hyped for this but wanted to try it first.
I wonder how many sales they lost and will lose just by taking the demo away.
If I could change the difficulty, Id just buy it and learn. Looking forward to seeing how everyone reacts.
Seems like a cool game but for now, gonna go with Cyberpunk 2.0 and maybe try Lies of P after im sure its good and/or goes on sale

This isn't bloodborne. it's Dark Souls 2 character playing against Bloodborne enemies (with speed, aggression and power). It's clunky.
Far from it Bloodborne is the most responsive and fluid game you'll ever play this is anything but fluid. Feels like ds1 on heavy equipload except you don't have anything on.
Lies of P beats Bloodborne everyday of the week and I have platinum them all including Elden Rings.

okay, couldn't finish watching the review. you need to have some sort of background noise, and you need to fix your cuts, and delayed speaking. it's too monotone and soulless of a video, feels almost A.I. generated, but worse.
To be honest you guys are over your head because these souls games are so boring and repetitive i mean you call the witcher 3's combat is not good assassins creed combat is messy but what about dark souls games or dark souls like game they only consist of light attack heavy attack counter dodge and few magic staff and you call those games amazing i think you guys are not actually gamers and also there no cool stuff like devil may cry finisher animations but sekiro shadow die twice was the only dark souls like game which understood what players want the execution takedowns stealth perfect and fast paced combat every enemy is tough hard and challenging but in lies of p just enemy attacks are slower they are not challenging except few boss fights so i dont understand why these game gets high number and the next gen games which try something new just gets ignored these are the mindset of players now

@@TheSoundofTanay I'm liking it a lot better, but it's still not close to a FromSoftware game. As an example, when the enemies healthbar flashes white, sometimes the charged attack doesn't work. I don't know if you have to wait a second between attacks to use it or what. But the mechanics are finicky as all get out. Some attacks just don't register for me and I'm not sure if it's a timing thing or what.

Combat is frustrating and unfun 😩 iv completed every fromsoftware games even S ranking every mission on armoured core, this games combat is severally unbalanced. Barely anyone is addressing this while reviewers are saying it’s perfect. The story is amazing and art breathtaking but this game is just artificial difficulty, this game needs some serious quality of life changes like being able to cancel animations with blocks and dodges.

I’m sorry but while yharnam was cool it wasn’t this apex of level design and I’m kind of getting tired of this “nothing will compare” attitude towards it. It was a great gothic backdrop but reskin it to something more traditional and it’s just another dark souls level.
Having played the demo through, this opening level felt more wow than yharnam did.
Bloodborne deserves a pedestal but come on, are we saying cleric beast or easy to infinite interrupt father gas is unsurpassable?

THANK YOU. These reviewers are really displaying extreme levels of fanboyism. That commentary about Krat not being as memorable as Yarnham was so left field and weird. Like you said, there was nothing mind blowing about the world of Yarnham. At least not to the point of these reviewers bringing it up. Unfortunately, what we are dealing qith in todays gaming world is a lot of game review companies that cannot co tain their fanboy-ism for certain games. Bloodborne is one of such games. The way these people talk is as if nothing can get close to bloodborne. If thats ones personal opinion thats fine but as a major reviewer, i find it really irresponsible to be that way as it can dissuade people from becoming interested.
Without sucking off from soft off like all the elden ring entry players, I genuinely think yharnam is a very well made level, idk about lies of p but in most games levels have a go forward with side paths on either side type thing, whereas at least in yharnams case every area links to another that holds a key item or shortcut, idk I think its pretty masterfully done. Like the bridge holding cleric beast has him, the cold blood dew, the werewolves guarding the bloodstone shard, into the sewers or you can just skip all of that

This is a carbon copy of an existing game. It's disgustingly derivative. This type of plagiarism is completely frowned upon in every other medium but you give this game a 9? It's not even as good as the source material it's plagiarizing. The devs/publisher invested a lot in paid reviews apparently. What did you give Madden? A 10? People complain about that game being the same game over and over yet laud over an entire genre of shitty knockoffs? Makes no sense. Even without the obvious notion that this game couldn't and wouldn't exist without bloodborne, it's mid at best. Like 7.5/10 tops. It quite frankly sullies the entire industry when you falsely praise games with next to no desire to add anything new and ride the coattails of existing IPs.

I've been HYPED and waiting this beautiful looked souls like action rpg Lies of P game a very LONG time before even Gamescom where this was one of BIGGEST relases and im really EXCITED this is coming soon on september 19 what is before my birthday september 28, I will wish this Lies of P for my birthdaygift to Playstation 4 physical version and I believe this will looks good even Ps4. That game's world looks awesome and I like that main character, it's hand is like a Full metal alchemist. Really no sense for anyone to make ARPGs anymore because they’re just gonna be compared to From Software and they are doomed to fail. Now any game that comes out that isn’t from software it’s judged harshly.
Actually there is 1 main solid reasons and thats gameplay. No any souls like game have the feeling of mass like souls(when you attack,dodge, parry,weight of weapon etc) BUT Lies of P is very good and is the most close i would say(I bought the Deluxe edition too) so im sure i dont have bias as a Fromsoft Fanboy
