  • Tom Snyder was filling in for Bob Costas. This is a very contentious interview between Tom Snyder and Howard Stern. They both made no effort to hide their distaste for one another. I also posted another version with improved audio. Here's the link- • NBC LATER- 3 -22- 91 T...

      @@Danimal77 there was nothing to "take on." Stern was always an act, hamming up a supposedly antagonistic, edgy persona for the microphone & camera. When it came down to it, both Snyder and Stern were broadcasters with mutual respect for the other.

    Love it, Howard usually got his way on television, hosts would sit and take it, all the plugs, snide remarks, etc, Snyder didn't play that way, it made for great television. I think Howard a little frightened by Tom, he was physically imposing, kind of old school wise guy and ace broadcaster. Reminds me when Snyder threw Roseanne Barr and Tom Arnold off his CNBC Talk Show. Tom never suffered fools gladly, we miss you man.

    • @billjim334
      @billjim334 3 роки тому +1

      @Daniel Drader out of touch because the “edgy people” now aren’t edgy at all. They’re all about towing the line, being politically correct, following trends, and doing everything the government tells them. The conservatives are the edgy ones now because we have independent thought, rebel against wokeness, PC culture, and generally dislike big government. the tables have turned

    • @billjim334
      @billjim334 3 роки тому +1

      @Daniel Drader And to further answer ur question about stern being out of touch, refer to 22:35 where he makes the argument against censorship. Fast forward to today, he openly calls for people to be censored, such as Alex jones. He has no conviction. he’s a fuckin phony

    • @ManFrancisco
      @ManFrancisco 2 роки тому +1

    I came here waiting to be confirmed in my belief that Tom Snyder was being obnoxious to Stern... Came away just thinking Stern is absolutely mental in a bad way. He tries to have it both ways... If he was just going to be "real", "provocative", "out there", "funny", whatever - fine by me, totally :) But the way he tries to both be "crazy" and at the same time earnestly insisting that Tom is being hostile and impolite to him - moments before interrupting him saying "I don't know how OLD YOU ARE". I mean... That's just.. Stern commit to either or :)

    It's kinda refreshing seeing someone not be afraid of Howard, who's ultimately just a provocateur. Howard comes out swinging like he always does to off balance Tom and Tom easily bats it off and then Howard can only try to gaslight him and put words in his mouth. Obviously, it's annoying to anyone and especially when you're attempting to have a conversation with someone that doesn't want to really have a conversation, but Tom handles it like a pro, gives Howard enough to think he got Tom's number just to accidentally have a conversation. Total pro, Tom is a class act.

    I never really liked Tom Snyder but I was kinda surprised how bad Stern came off in this interview. Best way to handle a guy like Tom Snyder is just play it cool and give straight answers, make him look like the crazy one. Instead Howard tried to out-antagonize him and they both look crazy.

    Great back and forth, even if it doesn't ultimately go anywhere. Snyder's comments about Rebecca Shaeffer were sort of ridiculous, considering a law was passed a few years later to prevent the DMV from selling private information, specifically inspired by that case.

      It’s like someone castrated him. I used to listen to him everyday and couldn’t wait for the show, now he barely works, repeats the same stuff over and over & shills for the Democrats. I looked to him for an escape not to hear about politics endlessly. Ronnie is the best thing on the show.

    What a beautifully, awkward interview! Two titans of the medium going at it for our entertainment! The old guard interviewing the younger, rising star who would eventually reach heights one could only dream of. During this era Howard had trouble booking celebrities on his show because they were afraid of potential damage to their careers. Today Howard is mainstream Hollywood and has ironically become what Tom Snyder was then. For years after this, Howard would keep taking jabs at Tom

    Howard Stern is great at what he does- entertaining. He and his team are like 8th graders that took over the principle's office and intercom. But as a human being ? A low life cruel abusive human being. It's 2022. He has been seeing a therapist for decades. For damn good reason. He cant stand himself.
